(Delivery review )I was delighted that there's an Indian Restaurant in an Irish neighborhood that might cater to the British and Irish in the area who crave hot curries. My results were mixed in my first order of a chicken curry. Delivery was slightly under 1 hour, which I expected. I had to go down to the front door of my apartment building, so this was not quite door-to-door service. I received everything I ordered. All of the food was hot. The restaurant did not include utensils, and packed everything in Chinese takeout-style containers. I had requested medium spicy as my level of curry heat, but the thin curry flavor was very mild and tame compared to what I am used to eating in restaurants, friends' homes and even when I've made these dishes myself. The curry sauce could've been thicker, and there was more sauce than meat. I balanced out my chicken dish with a spinach and green pea saute, and filled-up on paratha bread, which all helped to stretch out the meal to two portions. I think that The Curry Spot restaurant offers decent value for the price in a part of the Bronx with very few options for Indian cuisine, period, never mind delivery. read more

We were really excited when this place opened in our neighborhood of Woodlawn, Bronx. There isn't much there besides generic pub food and pizza. We love Indian food but hate having to go so far to get it. Plus, nobody in the neighborhood takes credit cards, so we were really happy to have an Indian place that did. Our first order was good. I think we were honestly just really excited to have a new restaurant in the hood. I ordered the garlic naan and Lamb Khorma. The lamb tasted very fresh, but the khorma sauce was a bit different than I was used to. Still, it was pretty tasty. The next time we ordered though, it was not as good. I think if you're really jonesing for Indian food it will do the job, but if you want "good" Indian, save your money and head to Spice Village in Tuckahoe. I have been ordering from this place for years but today was the last straw. I ordered at 6:15pm it is now 8:58 pm and I still have no food. This place charges a delivery charge and generally delivers slowly but today after one hour and twenty minutes the delivery guy calls me to tell me he will be here in three minutes, then calls me back after ten minutes and wants me to go outside to the car to accept delivery. I told him to double park and bring it up that is what I pay a delivery fee for. Long story short, never got my food or even a phone call. So much for 8 years or so of doing business with them because they will not be getting any more calls for orders from me. The chicken Korma and Saag paneer are actually really good from here if you can get your food, which in this case I have not. read more

I am definitely a fan, plus it's BYOB (I love BYOBs)... so crack open that Boones Farm and dig in! My husband had the spicy lamb and I had a bbq chicken curry dish... No cubed chicken was spared by my fork, no grain of rice was left unturned... we ate every last bite. When we sat down they brought out crispy bread and toppings, and before we left they gave us little cups of rice pudding. This is a neighborhood Indian restaurant, two blocks away from our apartment, a little pricey but hey, its convenient. =) We have tried: FAVORITES!!! * MEAT SAMOSA(2 pcs)-- deep fried, with ground meat inside and perfect to dip with tamarind chutney....plus its only $3... *CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA-- Big fan! Cubes of white meat in masala sauce, make sure you mention medium spiced if you're not into spicy foods, and comes with basmati rice!!! the sauce is sooo good with naan... TANDOORI CHICKEN (Dark meat) they marinated it with some spices and baked it in the tandoor oven, I love this! NAAN---- just order a regular naan. I have tried the garlic naan and the laccha paratha which is my favorite whenever I go to indian restaurants, but this place just cannot nail it. Stick with the regular naan!!! SKIP IT!!!! Chicken Curry -- so so!!! MIXED GRILL----1 pc of tandoor jingga or shrimp, 1 cube of lamb, 1 cube of salmon, 1 cube of chicken breast and the rest is tandoor chicken. Tried it once, won't order it again. The tandoor salmon is not so great, a little fishy..plus for the price, I think they should have put a little more of each!! I ate at this place when they first opened and yes, for the north Bronx (it's in the middle of Little Dublin) it's good. What are our options besides Caribbean, Chinese and Irish food anyway? I used to relish in the various seafood and vegetarian specialties. However, lunch yesterday was quite disappointing. The dining room was empty during lunch rush which should've been a first clue. The crab curry was decent but tasted oddly of sardines. The shrimp vindaloo was most heinous. Five overcooked, rubbery shrimp float in a greasy vat of slightly flavored vindaloo. For a full-priced dish, there should've been more shrimp. The take out also didn't include the usual implements like cutlery, a menu or napkins. Come on! As the only customers during the lunch rush, I don't understand why more attention couldn't be paid to quality. read more

This was my first time here and it was an absolutely great place for Indian food. The host/waiter was incredibly nice, gave great recommendations on the food and was on top of the drink/sauce refills. I'm really picky when it comes to Indian food but the food we ordered was incredibly tasty. Our table ordered: 1) Chicken Madras (which was incredible but it packed a very spicy punch. Make sure you ask to tone it down a notch or ask for a lot of water) 2) Spinach and Chick Pea dish (delicious, not spicy, fresh) 3) Garlic Naan (highly addictive) 4) Mango Lassi (a delicious mango/yogurt drink) 5) Paneer Tikka Masala (this wasn't on the menu but its one of my favorite Indian dishes. They managed to make it for me and they did an amazing job. Great flavor, tasty cheese, and great basmati rice. The masala sauce was incredibly flavorful) 6) Mango and Pistachio ice cream (the mango was creamy, the pistachio was eh) We arrived for dinner and when we sat we were greeted with an order of PoppaDom which is like thin crispy wafers with different sauces. It was so good! I got the mildest it would go and it still had some spice to it but it was so good I didn't even mind. They also gave us a rice pudding on the house. We've also had sit-down meals here and that service is pretty good and it has always been easy to get a table. Food is Pretty good, wish it was more tasty... As it is a little on the bland side. I was a little annoyed when I ordered chicken korma and they brought me chicken curry. When I called to complain the man told me that the two dishes are basically the same (Um... No?). I told them I want what I ordered redelivered, he told me it would be another $10! I said I didn't want the curry and that I would return it - that I wasn't paying for two dishes. Anyway, they brought me the correct dish and took back the curry (which was a little weird). Chicken Tikka Masala over rice is on point, even though I recommend sharing it if you are also having their naan bread or you might end up with a belly about to explode. This place is yummy and everyone who works there is very kind and helpful. I have been coming here for about 3 years. My husband was living around the corner from this place and took me there the first couple of months we were dating. I remember feeling like the service there was five star but the decor is about a two. Where they lack in atmosphere they make up for in deliciousness. I love the Chicken Tikka. The vegetable samosas and The Chana Saag. No matter what you get, you will enjoy it. My only dislike has been the mango sorbet dessert they gave us one time... however it was free, so no complaints. Went 1/16/2013 I've been going to the Curry Spot since it opened. The service is always fantastic! The food is authentic and delicious! I drive down to my old neighborhood from Putnam County when I want real Indian cuisine. It's not as good around here. Tandoori Lamb and spicy Chicken Vindaloo are some of my favorite dishes. Deciding to have a quieter night in we picked up a curry from this spot. 3 stars might be harsh (3.5 is fairer) but I think compared to the offerings we are spoilt with in London it isn't in that ballpark. Ordered the shrimp jalfrezi which was really tasty if a little watery and the rice and bread were solid without being stellar. If I lived here, would have no craving for Indian food with this as a local. Good friendly service and the price ($6-8 a dish) is good value. They give you more than you order (traditional appetizers and desserts), which was a really nice and personal touch. I've never had an issue with Curry spot. The food delivery is always fast and on time. It's always delicious. What more can you ask for. I've never actually been to the restaurant in person but delivery has never been a disappointment. I usually get the curry chicken extra hot (and it is extra hot which I love) and meat samosa. One time out of the many times I've ordered they gave me vegetable samosas by accident and was kind enough to bring me an order of meat samosas! They have a regular here. read more

Although the portions appear large it is mainly sauce with very little meat or fish, with that being said for the amount of food you are getting it is quite over priced. I had the chicken jalfrezi, but it seems that the chicken tikka masala is very popular. I can only speak for the jalfrezi. I would order it again without hesitation.
