I like dives and townie bars generally, but I have been to this place more than once and never really liked it. The food is nothing special, though I did not have one of their burgers or sliders, and I thought the place smelled musty. The cheap beer is cheap for beer, and it is thus appropriately priced. The crowd is more than just 'townie', or 'working-class', in my view, it was quite red in the neck for being in the middle of town. There are lots of TVs and decent parking, but compared to other places (also thankfully without students) with fairly similar prices, but with better food, all that is left to distinguish this place is the name and the tacky 'no form based code' rants on the sign. If you want quick, greasy and cheap... I highly recommend the double cheese mugger with fries. Across the street from IWU it served me well and now that it has an outside patio, bigger inside and bigger parking lot its even better. It is a townie bar which gives it charm I appreciate. read more

I like the atmosphere of the bar. But that's about it. The food was over priced for what it was. Ordered onion rings for $5 and we got 4 or 5 on a small plate. The bleu burger I got was not very good. Just a burger with cheap Bleu cheese dressing on it. Our waitress was horrible. She was never around and they were not busy at all. read more

The burgers are regular old burgers, the cheeseballs are good, the philly cheesesteak was tasteless as were the fries, and they only carry disgusting RC products. And I don't think it's all that cheap. But being the only place that delivers cheeseburgers and fountain soda I will more than likely continue to order when I'm too hungover to get off the couch and just need some greasy ass food. read more

I don't know what all the fuss is about these wings . They were terrible. I waited an hr and 15 mins for my delivery first off. When I got my garlic Parmesan wings, I opened the box and seen how tiny the wings are. The second thing I noticed is that literally half the box was dowsed in grease. My wings were literally floating on the grease. I surprisingly disregarded that because I was so hungry from waiting for the wings that I started eating them. I quickly regretted taking a bite out of them. I forced 5 out of 20 down and my stomach started hurting me. Went here almost every Tuesday for four years. If not for the wings, then for the late-night company and escape form mundanity of college life at Wesleyan. Can't beat the Tuesday wing special, those wings are massive! I'd fill up on three! Favorite flavors are Chipotle and Volcanic, although sometimes Volcanic can get bland after the second or third. Recommend grabbing a pitcher with friends on the patio. read more

Their food is crap. First time I ever ordered from their. Philly Cheesesteak: meat was way overcooked, fatty, bland, and tasteless. Fries were old and seemed to be re-fried. Oil in the fryer must be 200 years old. Disgusting crap! read more

So I college years grew up here and it was a 5 star then and a 5 star now. You have to get the cheesemugger and fries with a side of mayo; even if you're a vegetarian. This was one of the worst food delivery experiences I have ever had. And the manager, Phillip, was clearly not interested in doing much to rectify it. We are staying at a hotel just a few minutes away and ordered two dinners. It took over an hour to get our food delivered. And even though we explained ahead of time we were staying at a hotel the driver had no utensils of any kind or napkins to give us. We were basically told we should have asked ahead of time. 99% of the restaurants I've ordered take out from include some sort of plasticware with the food. But apparently this place doesn't. That on its own wouldn't have been a huge deal. Neither of our orders came with everything the menu claimed they would. My "BBQ chicken" was a very dry piece of grilled chicken with no noticeable sauce and barely any hint of BBQ flavor. The fries were the most bland we have ever tasted, as if they hadn't been salted at all. There were no condiments of any kind either. Also often a delivery staple. But that wasn't a big deal. The problem was how the manager chose to handle our complaint about the food quality and the lack of utensils after our hour+ wait. We called and spoke to Phillip who said he was the manager. He first told me to "taste the chicken" and then tell him what I thought. We explained I had tasted it already. And the closest he ever came to taking responsibility was saying he should have asked if we wanted utensils. Even though we called immediately after receiving our food (we actually called the driver's number first and he said to call the restaurant) Phillip said he couldn't do anything tonight because all his driver's had clocked out. He said if we "lived in town he could give us a discount on future orders." But since we didn't the most he could offer was "a replacement bbq chicken if we got here by 5 the next day." I'm not sure what logical sense that makes. But he said he is the manager and that's all he could do. Basically it seemed since he knew we were from out of town and he wouldn't be seeing us again he didn't have to deal with us. They may have good food other than what we ordered. But we certainly will not be recommending their service. Especially the delivery service. read more

Pretty solid dive bar with great service and fabulous wings. The locals are warm and welcoming but the stench of years of dive bar legend is a bit overwhelming. Once you settle in and the personality of this dive bar takes over, the whiff of oldness gets buried by outstanding happy warm and fuzzies provided by the barkeeps and locals. I love that these guys deliver. I love townie charm, but sometimes i'm not in the mood to dive into it. But I do love their wings. I think they're better than Schooners (my 2nd favorite wings in town). I see one review here that calls it a regular old burger. I couldn't disagree more. It's not fancy, but they have a wide variety of burgers and they're made very well. Mad props to the Mugsy's Muggers. If you're sitting down . . . it's a yellow-beer townie place. Which, again, is fine and dandy if that's what you want. I also give them credit for buying a pitcher for rec league softball players who show up wearing jerseys. That's a cool touch. i went with my brother who assured me the wings were very good. He was right. we had the hot wings and i was pleasantly surprised. Spicy and not teeny tiny. I also had the Cheese Mugger. Not so impressed, the beef was obviously a frozen patty and most likely a "bubba" burger. Nothing special but ok. The beer was cheap, so that was good. The best local wings bar none. Cooked in the spices and served so hot they steam. My son and I have gone there for more than 10 years and not the best for children, but the children are not allowed in after 9 PM. The Mugger Burger is also good. Believe it or not the salads are good at least so says my wife. This isn't a salad type of place, but if that is what you want at a tavern food kind of place there you go. read more

They have a great menu and are as close to 100% conaistancy as a McDonalds. They also have a really good blue plate that I think they start serving at 10am. The wings are what you go for but don't neglect attention the the burgers as well. Saturdays they have there steak sandwich on special which is always a plus for me.
