We've tried many different programs and instructors, and my daughter just hasn't "taken" to the water. In comes Addie, and after a couple of months with her patience and kindness, I now have a swimmer. In addition, the entry to the facility always looks really clean and tidy. I had to call in to book each session with a representative on the phone. There were a number of times that there was a policy that prevented or interfered with our booking but the rules were never explained to me. I preferred to do an al-la-carte situation as we could not be consistently free on her lesson day. One representative told me I could book online, one said I couldn't, one said I could book any time, one told me I had to book lessons at least 12 hours in advance. This got very old. 2. No locker room access. Apparently, there was some kind of incident involving another swim lesson parent and a member of LA Fitness, where this business is run out of - I can't speak to this as I was not involved. However, it meant that the entire swim school was unable to use the locker rooms. Safe Splash provided two small pop-up changing tents on the pool deck. Two tents for two full classes of kids and parents to use to change! By the time we had a turn, the whole tent was soaked! I often take my daughter to lessons on my own and rely on putting her in the stroller when I need to change. With the current set up this was impossible. I could not get her and myself dressed without also getting all our clothes wet. Dont even get me started about trying to get a diaper on 1 year old in that small area! 3. I didn't feel like she learned much! Granted it was a baby/toddler class but I know small kids can be taught survival skills. We paid A LOT of money and didn't learn anything. The biggest takeaway was supporting her body on our shoulders and not hands while floating. It was not worth the price. 4. The pool was always cold. I know this isn't really something SafeSplash could control but the kiddos were often shivering in the pool. We had a fun time swimming together and I loved watching her confidence grow which is why I kept the two stars but we'll be taking our business elsewhere.

Despite attending summer camp daily, his evaluation showed a regression--with no clear explanation. When I raised concerns, I was met with defensiveness and vague responses also surprisingly rude attitude. Communication with instructors was discouraged. While the instructors seem capable, the system feels rigid, opaque, and dismissive of parent feedback. We gave this program six months of patience and good faith. Sadly, transparency and accountability were never part of the equation.

A well-run swim school that focuses on building confidence, not just swimming skills…read more We've had all three of our kids at Goldfish Swim School in Mill Creek, and it's been a very positive experience. Two of our children have progressed through the Junior program (skipping Mini) and into Glider, with one of them completing the next level (Pro), while our youngest is just getting started. The results over the past six months have been impressive. Our older two have gone from being apprehensive in the water to genuinely enjoying swimming. Both are now able to swim independently with appropriate supervision, and our oldest (10) is arguably the best pool swimmer in our family. What really stands out isn't just the progress--it's Goldfish's approach to teaching. The instructor-to-student ratio is excellent, with one instructor for every two or three kids being the norm (occasionally four, but never feeling crowded). There are also multiple lifeguards on duty--roughly one for every three lanes--which gives parents a great deal of confidence. The instructors are patient, encouraging, and focused on helping kids become comfortable in the water rather than simply checking off skills. The skill evaluations are another strength. When it's time to test for the next level, each child receives one-on-one attention from an instructor, making the process feel thorough and encouraging rather than rushed. One of the things Goldfish does especially well is celebrate progress, not just outcomes. Kids who pass a level get to ring the celebration bell, giving them a real sense of pride and accomplishment. Even on days when they aren't testing--or don't quite advance yet--instructors recognize individual achievements with ribbons for things like learning a new skill or simply being brave in the water. It's a thoughtful approach that keeps kids motivated and reinforces that building confidence is just as important as mastering the next technique. The facility itself is very good. It's a glass-free facility with a comfortable viewing area where parents can clearly watch every lesson. The building is well lit, with good temperature control--warm on the pool deck while still comfortable in the seating area. There are convenient showers right next to the pool, spacious changing rooms with hair dryers and getting-ready areas, an easy electronic check-in system, and a fun snack counter with inexpensive treats so kids can buy something themselves after class. One thing to know before you enroll is that Goldfish is purpose-built as a swim lesson facility. If you're looking for water slides, splash features, or a recreational pool experience like McMenamins or the Snohomish Aquatic Center, this isn't that. Every aspect of the facility is designed around teaching children to swim safely, efficiently, and confidently. Parking at Mill Creek Town Center is generally good, although it can get busy during peak times. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is the cost and conditions of the make-up tokens. Enrolling multiple children is a significant investment, but in our experience the quality of instruction, the emphasis on safety, and--most importantly--the confidence our kids have gained in the water have made it well worth it. That said $43 a session for 30 minutes is on the high side. If you miss a class, you receive a make-up token that can be used later. While this has worked well for our family and is helpful, you do need to know is the tokens can accumulate over time, because you must remain enrolled to redeem them--you can't cancel or postpone lessons and fund off make up tokens. Overall, Goldfish has created a well-organized, safety-focused environment that inspires confidence in both kids and parents. More importantly, they've helped transform swimming from something our kids were nervous about into something they genuinely enjoy. After using Snohomish Aquatic Center, McMenamins, and Kingsgate, we'd recommend Goldfish to other families looking for a lesson-focused program for kids on the younger side (Ages 3-9). -AC

The facilities here are well worth the price. Tons of changing rooms, showers, diapers and hair ties for when you forget yours, huge seating area and warm swimming water. The staff are super friendly at the front desk and the couple swim instructors that have taught my kids are wonderful and patient.

This swim school completely fits the bill. My first phone call with Tracey, the owner, gave me a great first impression of the school. She explained the programs they offered, answered all my questions, and helped me choose which classes were a good fit. Since I have two kids, she shuffled some things around in the schedule so that both kids can go on the same night with one lesson after the other. This is very convenient :) Also convenient is that all administrative stuff is available on their website, so I didn't have to fuss with printing out paperwork. On the first day of class, Tracey warmly greeted us at the door, and got us set up with everything we needed (including complimentary swim caps). For my 4-year-old's beginner class (Minnows), there were 4 students and 2 very capable, hands-on instructors. They were both excellent with kids and you can see that the kids are having a lot of fun. To get kids used to the water, they play a game where each kid gets a turn to do an activity for a short burst of time. They work in round robin fashion, and go very quickly, so as to keep it fun and make it less frightening. This method worked really great on my son because within the first couple of lessons, he overcame his fear of swimming. At the end of the class, they bring out toys and inflatables and this is my son's favorite part of the class. My daughter is in a more advanced class where they work on their strokes and swim laps. Again, great instruction, and she loves the class. By the way, the facilities are really nice. They are in the recreation building of a new apartment complex (Avana 522). The pool is a great size, nice and clean. Outside of the pool area there is a lobby with free wifi, sitting area with tv, and vending machines. It's been 3 weeks now. My kids LOVE their swim lessons and it's amazing to see all the progress they've made in such a short amount of time. All in all, we couldn't ask for any better. If I were to grade this school, I would give them a solid A+.

My daughter's partner was recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and given a prognosis of 6-12 months. He is currently on SSI disability since he can no longer work so his income is very limited, and asked about a free membership, and the answer was a flat no. Just policy over people. For an organization that claims to be community-focused, that response was shocking and unexpected. He is facing overwhelming physical, emotional, and financial stress. Something as simple as access to a supportive, healthy environment could make a meaningful difference--yet the Everett YMCA chose bureaucracy over basic human decency. If this is how you treat people at their most vulnerable, then all the talk about "healthy living," and "social responsibility" is just marketing fluff.

I was on the hunt for a gym, a legit gym that had *weights* that weren't plastic and followed Covid guidelines. I found this understated gem after searching for some time. I have been through enough gyms. Golds was great until it went to 425 Fitness. La Fitness was okay-ish until Covid happened. Lifetime is super bougie and nice but could use a bigger weight area. If you're looking to take gym insta-pics for "fitspo" or bro and brood out, this isn't the place This gym is old-school perfection. It has weights. Like real iron weights. It makes you take responsibility for cleaning up after yourself and not drop weights like an idiot. The gym has all the essentials you need to do what you need for weight training, weight loss, etc. No frills, no bs. Gloria has been impeccable. I believe she is the owner (?) but don't quote me on this. It's a big gym with a small feel. No big corporate nonsense, no pressure. If you've ever been to a gold's gym and went there to do work, you'll appreciate it here. I love having real weights. I love seeing the machines that help you achieve what you seek. No fancy: here today, gone tomorrow machines, gadgets or hype. You get out what you put into yourself. I can't say enough good about this place. Equipment, floor, bathrooms, everything. -No required long-term commitment. Cons: -No WiFi for video streaming (although I could be wrong on this, I haven't clarified with the owner). -No towel service. -No showers (working out before work means going somewhere else to shower or change). -Sets the standard for other gyms to match a little high. Going to be disappointed when I leave this area. The long: I can't really speak enough about this gym. It's great, and for the premium membership at $40/month, I can't ask for more. Gloria provides a more warm and personal experience that all corporate gyms seem to lack with a bored 18 year old behind the desk scrolling instagram and nodding their head at you when you walk in, or having to get someone else if you ask them a question. Gym is stupid clean. Like, I actually felt like I needed to pack a second pair of shoes to wear when I actually get to the gym in order to keep it that clean. Weights are all racked properly and numerous. Cardio machines plentiful. What could be improved? Dunno, to be honest. Maybe a phone charging station at the front behind the desk? Provided towel service? Showers? My gripes are tiny compared to the pluses. This place rocks.
