The workers here are trash. My family got to the booth to pay and the lady here said "you guys need to go to the back of the line"(the line is miles away FYI) we asked why and she said "you guys cut the line so you can't board the ferry". We did not cut and were in that long crappy line since it began on the Mukilteo speedway. There was a lady in a white suv that tried to cut in front of a couple cars including us, but no one let her in. We told her about that and she said "no,three cars said you cut in." Then her blonde coworker in the next stall chimed in with her two cents saying "yep someone else said they cut in so don't let them in". So I said heck no, y'all ain't going to lie on my family today. Not today Satan. I asked her if she had proof of us cutting, maybe a camera showing what happened since we've been in the line where it said ferry line starts here. She just stares at us. We even told her the car that was behind us the whole way down could probably vouch for us since we all got in line at the same time. She wouldn't even listen to that. So now we are just Starring at each other because I'll be damned if I go all the way in the back of the line for something I didn't do especially with my kids looking on at the bullying that is happening right before them. The worker finally got off her high horse and said fine just go. Here's a tip for the ferry service. How about you install cameras to see who is cutting since you guys are so intent on catching cutters. I would also like to know how 3 people ahead of us complained that we cut when no one behind us said anything. They must have special powers to see behind them. I sure would like those powers. Also make sure if you're going to make good citizens go to the back of the line for something they didn't do, make sure you have the right car and license plate number. read more

Whoa, what the heck happened? Both ways yesterday we were treated to a new ferry that averaged 11 minutes to make the crossing. And it was sooo smooth. I know some of that was the quiet waters, but still. The staff worked hard to get us on one of the soon to depart ferries and I for one really appreciate that. read more

It's hard to write a review for a ferry. What am I really looking for in the ferry system, anyway? For it to show up/arrive on time, friendly staff, and not to drown ... I'm tired of when I ask to be by the restroom or elevator to the restroom and they have me have my hazard lights on and then are rude when they don't park you where there suppose too. No Sorries no nothing, just "nothing I can do about it now" in a rude tone. I shoulda been the one rude. read more

I enjoy going on the ferries, but I live in Seattle so the only time I go on them is to visit friends or just to check out the other side. The wait wasn't very long for the boat and the loading/unloading process was very seamless. Overall, a fun experience. read more

Unfortunately this ferry terminal is not structured to be supportive of first timers. After being told we would be on the next boat (following a 45 min wait) we were directed to take any lane and not told that all lanes do not get on the ferry. We were then told we were not going to be boarded because the boat was full. This is after reading the website and specifically asking at the toll booth - telling the woman it was my first time on the ferry. What would have been a fun experience is now a super frustrating one read more

On time, gorgeous views, and convenient whether in a vehicle or on foot. Their cafe with tea, coffee, decent wine and beers (including some on tap) is a bonus. Just be sure to not cut in the ferry line! Locals (my father included) will give you a polite but stern taking to. read more

I had this ferry mixed up with another one. I may just be partial to the process but this one is as fun and faster than the others. It's not really fancy, but the view was just as nice and you can still meet some of your other basic needs, like buying a snack or using the restroom :) read more

Got here to the terminal waited in line to see the ferry arriving and seeing people in line getting to go, oh wait I don't get to go because I am in line 6. Guess I have to wait another 30 min until the ferry does another run. I'm not liking the wait. read more

The ferry price isn't too bad and it's a good location if you get stuck waiting a while as they have a coffee place on the hill or an Ivar's next to the terminal and a small park too. I would advise you go on the website and check the cameras ahead of time as the line can get crazy sometimes. read more

Last week I drove from seattle to Deception Pass with some friends. We hiked and drove all day then opted to take the ferry back. Once our car was parked we went upstairs and were excited to get a beer. Until we encountered Maria...the horrible miserable woman serving the beer and snacks. Seriously this was the WORST service I have EVER encountered. It was so bad my friend couldn't even stop laughing because it was ridiculous, I was just pissed. I even asked her why she was being so rude to us and she then yelled at me "are you sober" ... apparently if you are a happy polite person who says "HI how are you" and tries to order a beer you must be drunk.... ridiculous. There's more details....but so hard to explain how horrible she was....I must fill out my complaint form now and mail it to the ferry people. So many people need jobs right now, she should be fired for being horrible at hers! read more

Unless you know the people you are talking to, the workers here are extremely rude. Even when it is unnecessary for them to be so strict and rude. For instance, my e brake does not work and hasn't for a few years. We've tried to fix it but it went out again. We're not sure what's wrong with it so it's not fixable at this point. The ferry workers never respect the fact that my e brake does not work and expect me to park on the hill. The hill on the ferry is so steep that it's dangerous for me to be on it without the e-brake. Today while getting on the ferry , I was told to park on the hill. I was told by the ferry worker said if my e-brake didn't work I didn't belong on the boat. Well how else am I supposed to get to work? The people who are supposed to direct traffic are rude to the drivers even when the drivers cooperate. Some of the workers don't even hardly do anything. I've seen workers sitting around and texting on their phones and being short with you when you ask them questions because you are interrupting them. But as I stated, if you know the ferry worker that you're talking to, they're very nice and informative. It's just very difficult to find somebody who will give you the time of day if you don't know the person. Even though the Washington State Ferries are government-funded , I still expect to be treated like a customer. The upstairs cafe and even the vending system is very expensive. Definitely not worth the price on such a short trip as this ferry is only about 20 minutes. But you can get beer food and coffee in the cafe. There's some great room to sit and eat upstairs. And generally it's very clean. I've seen the line in the summer get up to a 3 hour wait which is beyond any ones control but keep out in mind while traveling. read more

The Mulkiteo/Clinton ferry is a short, great way to get away for the day. It's a great ferry to take your guests on when visiting. But...beware of the ferry line! The ferry line actually starts up the hill on Mulkiteo Speedway. However, here is where the confusion starts. If you are not coming down Mulkiteo Speedway but instead coming down Mulkiteo Boulevard--which is the main road that most people who live in Everett and/or North Snohomish county are going to take, you must make a left on Mulkiteo Speedway (This takes you away from the ferry line and makes you travel back up Mulkiteo Speedway to a light where you can do a turn to be going down the hill on Mulkiteo Speedway.) Now, this is where the confusion starts because on no traffic days, you don't do this. You turn right onto Mulkiteo Speedway and drive down to the ferry terminal where you pay and wait in line at the terminal. And if it looks like the last car is way ahead of you and you are not cutting in line, you are simply getting in line behind that car and making a right, well, this is where people call in your plates and car model number so when you reach the ferry terminal, the employees at the pay stations tell you that you have cut in line. Now, if you're like me, you're going to say, what? I did not cut in line. The line was not up the hill. There was no one that I cut off. I simply got into the line behind the last car. I realize there are people who try and cut in line, but I'm guessing most of us are not trying to do that and are simply confused about the way you get into the line at this terminal and the fact that there seem to be some extremely high strung watch dogs who use this ferry that have a FIT if you don't understand the way the traffic is being routed. Folks in Mulkiteo, give the rest of us a break. We aren't trying to cheat you out of something or your place in line, we are simply trying to board a ferry. Now, go ride that ferry a big more and learn to RELAX. read more

Ride the Clinton/Mukilteo ferry almost five days a week...unless I drive around or take the day off. Most of the ferry workers are "hard workers"...it's the lazy ones that always stick out. There are the phone users, talkers, yawners(too bored to lift their hands). There seems to be no recourse if you are having an issue with creepy ferry worker or a general inquiry....just move along. The fares keep going up, ferry "management" system will just have another meeting and waste more money...fares will still keep going up and nothing gets resolved. Why is it understaffed in the mornings....didn't use to happen....sounds like poor management. Why are there four booths that are not manned??? Why did you build them?? first time ferry rider here! it was a very quick trip from mukilteo to clinton - only 15 min. it went by so fast we barely had time to get out of the car and head to the deck and get back in time to get off. it's a pretty painless way to-from whidbey during non-peak hours. we were stuck in line for awhile because we went at a peak hour and it was a bit of a pain. there is so much to see, so it is okay if you aren't in a hurry. if you are....it would be horrible! it takes 2 hours to get from whidbey to the sea-tac airport, so make sure you give yourself enough time. being off on the ferry can really cost you. other than that....it was a fun experience. very easy and cheap. read more

The cashier was extremely rude. We had gotten in the ferry lane from a restaurant parking lot, the line was moving and the closest car to us was over a block away (behind us). We had no idea that that counts as cutting in line because this was our first time on the ferry and there were no signs that said that. When we got to pay to get on the ferry the cashier told us that 5 cars had told him that we had cut in line and he insisted we drive all the way to the back of the line (we didn't even know where the entrance to the ferry lane was). He was very rude, and there weren't that many cars behind us so we came around again and still got on the same ferry as everyone else. There should be clear signs and the employees should be much kinder--if he had at least admitted that it was a confusing process that would have been nice, but the fact that he was rude and acted like we were malicious criminals who cut in line on purpose was very upsetting. read more

Utilized this ferry to Clinton from Mulkiteo and returned 3 days later. Initial time using this ferry, made an error and cut in line, was not notified of error until almost at the toll both by two very distraught and concerned citizens. They were rude and told us to get to the back of the line. One of them told the toll booth and they refused to sell us a ticket. The people in this area are quite rude and are proabably the few that give the rest of the residents a bad name. Ferry ride is quick, but the wait on our experience was over 2 hours on Friday evening after traveling all day from North Florida. On the way back to the maintland was at 1130 on a Monday. RUDE.RUDE.RUDE. First-time (and my last time) taking the ferry from Mukilteo-to-Clinton. The locals are so hateful! Like so many others I felt the signage and traffic lane situation was third world level. After seeing cars lining up in the apparent ferry lane, I kept driving hoping I'd eventually spot an opening. We all do it everyday in metro Seattle during rush hour. Eventually I saw a 50 yard gap in the line and got in line. This was long before the sign that says you must stay in line. Well this highbrow in her Porsche SUV that causes the 50 yard opening caught up to me eventually, got out of her car, and proceeded to give me a stern grandmother to child scolding about cutting line. I said nothing except "I didn't realize how it works here", and "I'm sorry". She left and I thought that was the end of it. But no, because 5 minutes later it was her highbrow daughters turn to scold us and make us feel like the 2nd class citizens that we are. Being that I had a toddler in the back seat who was getting scared, I didn't argue with biotch #2. But eventually grew tired of her threats and rolled up the windows. Of course when we got the the ticket terminal they tattled on us however we had just finished paying our fare. So the ticket guy gave us another firm interrogation and handed us the line cutting warning note. The rest of our day on Whitbey Island we worried the Porsche driving local highbrow would find us and assault us. WE WON"T BE BACK. read more

Wow, if you want to experience a place that punishes the tourist who has no idea the side of the road is the ferry line, here you go. "Cut in line" is what they tell you, merged ahead of 4 cars because we had no idea is more like it. Jerks didn't even tell us till after we paid... Won't be back and unless you know where you're going I wouldn't recommend trying this ferry for tourists. read more

Ferry signage is confusing if you are not a local coming from the Mukilteo side. There are what seems like 50 signs saying to stay out of the right lane unless there is a back up. Then I guess as you approach the exit for the tool booth there must be a sign (I did not see it) and there was no traffic in the right lane so I signaled and moved over. Then as I approached the booth there was a ferry employee who looked at me rather nastily and I figured he was having a bad day. I had correct change ready and he proceeded to tell me "anywhere in WA state it's illegal to cross a double white line" I asked him what he was referring to no he said "you should have entered where the sign was" I explained it was my first time there and that I did not see the sign and in fact the 50 signs before stated to stay out of the right lane unless backed up. He said something to the tune of "that's what F*ucking people get for looking at the hillside" I was appalled at his language and it was a simple mistake on my part. He is a state ferries employee and should conduct himself as such. From reading other Yelp reviews I am not the only person this has happened to, maybe the signage needs to be fixed. read more
