Lava Roll and Spicy Tuna Roll
    Anusha J.

We came here with some friends and it was surprising to see that it was a newly opened place! It's a mainly hot pot spot, but they have other items such as wings, sushi, habachi, ramen, and boba. The place has lots of seating and is fairly cheap as well. The have a special with their sushi where you can get one special roll and one classic roll for the price of one. The lava and spicy tuna rolls I got were definitely great for the price, but not great overall. Although, I would definitely come back for the special deal. I got the taro milk tea with boba also which was surprisingly good, but a bit too sweet

The restaurant is so bright and warm inside. There's plenty of seating and tables which is really nice. Theres a lot of food options for apps, pho, sushi, hibachi, and hot pot or stir fry ramen). For the stir fry and hot pot, there's a big bar of different ingredients you want to pick for yourself. The mild is a true mild so if you want spicy then up your level. If you want more broth, you can definitely ask for more! We also got the boba tea, kumquat lemonade and passionfruit lemonade which was refreshing and delicious. The food came out pretty quick and everyone was happy. The staff bring out the food to your table and there's not an option to tip when paying. They were wonderful and kind so we made sure to tip for the excellent service!

Came to Sushi Naru on a whim to grab some lunch! They offer a "build your own pot" option but I was in the mood for sushi so I did their 2 rolls for $13.99. You get one 8 piece roll and one 6 piece. I got the Tempura Tuna Roll and the California Roll. And of course an appetizer of Fried Gyoza ($7.99). The employees were super helpful and patient (first timer so I was taking note of everything they had to offer!). I sat down and waited while listening to their appropriately volumes music and waited for them to bring the food to my table. I had my whole order within about 8 minutes! The gyoza was hot and crispy, and the sushi tasted so fresh! I would recommend it! I'll definitely be back!

Overall, I would say what I ordered was surprisingly good. It was filling and I have no complaints. I did take off a star because when I called they didn't mention the name of the establishment they just said "hey". And then when I came to pick up the order, the girl did not take my name they had a hard time finding it. Other than that, I would recommend going and I'll probably be back

We visited this store when it's their soft opening. The location is across Burger King place. Food is fresh and nice service. We had three stir fry pot and two bubble tea. Shish kebab is more like Japanese style.

I did a pickup order for a tiger roll and spicy crab roll, fried gyoza and spring rolls. All food was so good! I would like to try the pho in restaurant. So that's something I'm looking forward to coming back and ordering.

I visited this location a few days ago. The staff were friendly and helpful. The owner came and talked and was very friendly. I can't wait to go back and sit in to eat. The ambience is great. Next time I'll get my coffee less cream, but overall I still enjoyed it.

Naru roll with PAPER THIN sushi

No place I've ever been to has sliced their sushi paper thin like this. It's pathetically cheap in their end. Hibachi flavor is good but steak is over cooked. You get 7 bites of steak and 8 shrimp. And a HUGE amount of rice that's mid af. First and last visit. Bye.

I ordered via a delivery service...and it did not disappoint! This was so delicious. Flavorable, delectable & simply devine! I got shrimp, fish, corn ...

Food is definitely worth the try. Staff members are nice. The fruit tea drinks are good and refreshing. The concept is different but I like being able to pick and choose my own proteins, veggies, and how much to put in my bowl. The ambiance is pretty chill.

I wonder why they had so much clutter up front?? Just did not make a good impression as you walked in. Then the music...it's no longer K-Pop, but Rap (or heavier Hip Hop?). I've never been to a KBBQ restaurant that didn't play K-Pop...so that was a bit offputting (for me). Not only did it betray the theme of the restaurant (K-Pot??), I just thought it made the vibe feel a bit too hard and intense...not as chill and relaxing as before. Then the menu. Seemed that they got rid of the desktop menu...which I kinda liked. With my verbal orders, there were some mistakes. They brought out 2 orders of Spicy Fish and 2 orders of Calamari...which just made the table busier than it needed to be. Still, my waitress was fairly attentive...so no issues after that. I ordered my fave items...Spicy Bulgogi, Beef Brisket, Spicy Fish and Calamari, along with Pineapple and Broccoli. Plus, there's the AYCE table with side dishes and sauces...which made the whole experience busier than it needed to be?? Still, one of the strengths of this place is its abundance of side veggies! I enjoyed the meal...but I missed a few options normally found in more authentic Korean BBQ restaurants. Unfortunately, I felt that the ambiance was way off this time (messy entrance, harsh overhead music)...plus I think the A/C was off (or on too low). Sorry, but must dock a star this time.

There are so many dining choices to make here but we really can't go wrong especially since it's "all you can eat". Pick a broth (simple? mild? umami? spicy? very spicy?), and then select among literally dozens of raw meats, seafood, veggies, tofu and noodles to cook in it. Each person gets their own pot, so be selfish and choose your pleasure. Order some dumplings or other dim sum "appetizers" Order various sashimi or sushi rolls. Go to the cold bar and stock up on Asian salad options and various dipping sauces. For us big kids beer, wine, sake and soju are also available. Then as the broth in the buckets boil in front of us start adding and scooping out ingredients. Eat. Repeat. Did I say robots? The food is delivered to the tables by these cutesy things. Just don't stiff the bots on tips - I hear they'll run you down and tase you (just kidding - I think). Did I say messy? Seriously, don't wear nice clothes. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of food served! I have eaten here many times and I have tried virtually everything on the menu. With that said, here is my take on it. Everything that I have tried has been delicious! For cold appetizers, I am a big fan of the Black Fungus W. Vinegar Sauce, Cold Spicy Sour Cucumber and the Spicy Beef Tendon. For hot appetizers, everyone raves about the Popcorn Chicken and I concur that it's very good! I really like the Frled Pork Gyoza too. For the main course, they have some rice dishes, but the main focus is the hot pot soups. They bring out a 300°F Stone bowl of broth (in an insulated pot holder) and the ingredients to put in it. You put the meat and lettuce in first, then the other ingredients and the noodles last then wait for "10 seconds"thus the name of the restaurant. I have tried all of the broths and they are all good depending on your tastes. The original broth is the bass broth. Then they add things to the other others to differentiate them. My favorites are the Tomato Soup (especially with Beef Flank) and Spicy Soup. If you like things VERY spicy, they can bring you some cut Thai peppers. The wait staff are patient are very helpful in guiding patrons. They understand that this is a new experience for them. They also pay attention to their customers eating habits. One time when I went in, they noticed that I added lots of chili peppers and chili oil to my food. That's when she said she could bring me some very hot fresh chili peppers. Charlotte is truly blessed to have so many great authentic Chinese body shops popping up all over town! I highly recommend this place! Cheers!

I've enjoyed Korean barbecue many times, so when I saw the price, I thought I had found a great midday option. Unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to expectations. The happy hour kalbi turned out to be four small pieces of meat for $9.95, which I had to cook myself. A bowl of rice was an additional charge, and there were no sides, vegetables, soup, or salad included. I left the restaurant still hungry, which is never a good sign after lunch. What disappointed me most was the lack of guidance and hospitality. As someone new to Japanese-style barbecue, I asked a few simple questions to understand what I was ordering. When I confirmed this was the happy hour portion, the server said yes--but didn't explain the serving size or suggest additional items. A little coaching would have gone a long way. At one point, when I asked whether the meal came with sides like banchan or rice, I was told, "This is not Korean barbecue." I completely understand the distinction now, but the tone felt curt rather than helpful. Hospitality is about helping guests navigate something unfamiliar, not making them feel like they should already know. I also ordered iced water with lemon, and the lemon never arrived...only the ice water. Was this an omen of what's to come?? Another frustration was the parking situation. I paid for parking through ParkMobile outside the restaurant, only to discover after entering that parking validation was available inside. That information would have been much more useful if it had been communicated clearly before guests park or pay. From a customer experience standpoint, it feels like something that could easily be improved with better signage--lead with the good stuff. The location itself is also somewhat isolated. While technically in Uptown, it's not in a particularly walkable or high-traffic area, so most guests will need to park in a garage or pay for street parking. There isn't much nearby other than an apartment complex above the restaurant, which makes clear parking instructions and strong service even more important. To be fair, the restaurant was clean, and the meat itself was flavorful. The concept of Japanese BBQ is interesting, and I now understand that this style is very different from Korean BBQ, with smaller, à-la-carte portions designed to be built into a meal. That said, the overall experience felt transactional rather than welcoming. I left hungry--and disappointed--not because of the food quality, but because the service and communication could have been better at several points along the way. This visit felt like a missed opportunity. With a little more attentiveness, clearer guidance, and stronger customer engagement, the experience could have been completely different. Don't let one restaurant deter you. Life is short--get out there and eat.

The prices were still $30 a head. I don't think there was a time limit for how long you could stay then. Now it's $40 a head (which inflation.... I get it) with a two hour limit. My main issue is the ambiance is horrible!!! They painted the big wooden booths with this cheap sticky black paint that's slowly coming off. I was wearing shorts and it was PAINFUL if I got up too quickly. The lighting is cold and uncomfortable. It's not a welcoming place to dine anymore. A completely depressing environment. Everything looks like it's in disrepair and being very poorly maintained. The quality of the meats has gone down as well. The sides were not fresh. Especially the cucumbers. Please hang up some art work and posters. Hire someone to remove that god awful sticky paint! Which I know you can't clean properly. Change the lightbulbs to warm lighting. Put out some fun decor on the tops of the booths. Make your restaurant into a place people naturally feel happy to be at. Paint over that black wall in the back and fill it from top to bottom with Korean art work as an accent wall! Or put in giant decorative shelves with plants and collectible Korean toys.
