I was able to get a last minute appointment on a Sunday for a haircut. They kept their scheduled appointment time so there wasn't a long waiting period. Their haircut service includes a shampoo and wash which was nice for the price they charge of $45. Most places charge much more for women's haircuts that includes wash and blow dry. The hairdressers don't speak any English at all so I simply showed a picture of what I wanted. My layers came out a little shorter than what I wanted but it wasn't terrible and I was fine with it. Got a hair cut here a couple months ago. Asked for a simple chic bob with bangs and I ended up looking like I belong on The Golden Girls. The man doing my hair used the texturizing shears on me for over 15 min. I ended up with uneven hair all over and crazy frizz as the shears ruined my hair. (Apparently it leaves the cuticles open at the end of the hair shaft which causes crazy frizz) I ended up going to another salon and paid more money to try to fix it. It's better but still terrible. This was my first hair cut after having my second baby. It was a big deal to me as I'm just getting myself back from months of pregnancy and busy newborn life.. and I feel so ugly. This haircut has aged me beyond belief. I trusted the salon and the person they assigned to me. I called to talk to the manager. I thought it would be important to talk about my poor experience. I miss my hairdresser Sky. The new guy who did my hair yesterday was obnoxious. I came in to do a digital perm, and showed him a picture. He said "don't follow suit, be yourself". And suggested me to follow his suggestion to do 2 types of perms together, and also dye my hair, which will skyrocket my bill. I insisted on NO. He kept saying "you have to put in work to be beautiful!" as if I'm ugly with my virgin black hair. Nice try! Then he said "oh, if you don't do the 2 perms together, you will have to pay for haircut separately, $225 for perm, $45 for haircut." I said "wait a sec, I have done the exact same thing before, and I did not pay for haircut separately " then he said" prices have increased." But I have just done my hair this April!! That's only 5 months ago! He finally realized I'm a frequent customer and said okay to $225. I wanted to change a hairdresser so bad, but didn't want to hurt his feelings and everyone else was busy. (I really should have) I thought to myself to just endure and get this over with. Well, he was shuffling between me and 2-3 other customers, and ended up still doing my hair at 9pm on Sunday night! I went in at 2pm. In the end I was so hungry and mad but I kept my nice face, I don't want to give him any reason to mess up my hair! I have permed my hair before, it only took 3 hours not 7! He kept saying it's complicated, but I know he was just trying to multitask. After spending my entire Sunday, hungry and ready to flee, I still decided to give him $40 tips for him staying late( even though it's totally his fault!) He looked into my wallet and saw I still had another $20 bill, and said "what about the guy who washed your hair?" I'm like "??" Finally my husband said" how about you split your tip with the other guy." He said "oh.. okay, I'm just asking.." What a jerk! His colleague has already left for the day, do I really think he will give the other guy any tip? Even if I gave him more? And what is up that he is squeezing every single opportunity to get more money! Tried the wrong one, I'm not Beyoncé. I was really trying to be nice and justify everything for the new hairdresser, I know he is trying to make a living, just moved from New York. But the entire experience left me disgusted. Trim: long layers, take 3" off length. That was my request. Didn't do a whole new style, just simple trim. The stylist trimmed the length but used scissors to texture my entire head rather than cutting to create layers. This meant loose hair all over. I requested a second hair wash and the lady owner (who finally peels away from staring at herself in the mirror for the past hour) turns around to tell me, "no loose hair because you have long hair." I told her it doesn't matter, charge me. I didn't feel like washing my hair again when I went home. The problem with this haircut is lack of shape. A good haircut allows hair to grow and still fall into a nice shape even months after. Everyone else was pretty nice but that doesn't matter when your friends ask, "what happened to your hair" right after a cut. read more

I decided to come for a digital perm here with Johnny after reading all the reviews praising his work and I'm left utterly disappointed with damaged hair that is super high maintenance. My natural hair is stick straight and has never been processed before so I wanted to get some texture in it. I especially asked that I wanted the hair to be low maintenance since I'm a fairly active person and I'd wash my hair everyday. The hairstylist did not listen to any of my concerns because my hair now requires so much attention and the worst part is I don't even like it. My hair is also very dry and tangled now. I can't wait for the perm to grow out. On top of not getting the hair I wanted after paying a load of money (digital perm was $250 + $80 for a treatment that didn't do anything + tips), I felt really uncomfortable at the salon when I was basically forced to pay an additional $80 for conditioning treatment. The treatment was a one time treatment of a conditioning mask of some sort and a four week follow up of products, which were 4 tiny tubes of conditioner. I had declined this treatment countless times when I was there but since Johnny was busy juggling 3 other customers, I was told that I needed to get the treatment in the meantime. As if I didn't pay enough, I was asked to pay an additional $90 for products to maintain my hair I think this salon is super overpriced and they force weird add ons when you're here. The hairstylist try to juggle 3 people at the same time and end up messing up your hair. It was also hard to communicate with him since he said yes to all of my concerns and did whatever he wanted anyways. read more

This took roughly 7 hours (simply because he had to do application without any assistance) they quoted me a great price! + I did a treatment after which kept my hair very very strong. Everything was affordable (especially for 7 hours worth of work) also, Kathy will recommend products after your service. And trust me it is worth it. My blonde hair has never felt so soft, for someone who's had their hair bleached 2x in one day! What's the point of spending money on an expensive service and not maintain it!?! Amazing place. Had to get Japanese hair straightening redone and they offered the best price. They truly know what they are doing! Some stylist have limited English but they always have someone available to translate. My hair didn't have as much breakage as when I got it done the first time. They also carry a Milbon treatment with the straightening that helps with breakage! Such a nice place. I went to Mulan Spa when they first opened and got the Japanese Straightening. They did such a great job that I went back again last week for the same perm. I believe I had King, but I apologize that I cannot really remember. However, the staff is really accommodating and makes effort to help you feel comfortable. They even asked if I wanted water or if I ate lunch. They are very polite, hospitable, and stay focused on you - definitely great service here. I only gave 4 stars instead of five because the second time I got my perm, it ended up still having a bit of waves in the back. I called them and they took me in that same day - no questions asked - to help fix it. Excellent place for a hair cut from cutters from New York. Most weekends, the two front sofas are lined with customers waiting for their hair cuts. There are usually only 2 to 3 hairdressers on a given day. So, make an appt. I usually just need a trim. But recently, I decided to shorten my long hair. I have been to many places and felt like I've had to tell them exactly what to do. Not here. Give them an idea of the look you want and they will make you look like a million. Lots of detailed attention. They are excellent with men's hair as well. Cost for men is $25 with a shampoo. Women depends on length and cut, but around the same. My family's been regular customers for more than a year. There is absolutely no where else we would go! Give them a try and you will see. read more

To be honest, I didn't want to leave a review after my service there but feel that it's best to share why I will not be going again. I was really excited to go after seeing them in the same plaza as New York Mart. I called them prior to going and was given an average price of how much it would cost to get my already dyed hair, dyed over again. Once I got there the lady/owner greeted me and went over the pricing which doubled from what she told me on the phone. Her excuse was that I had a lot of hair and more product would need to be used. So as a push over I went with it and became sorely disappointed with the service there after. First off I arrived at my appointment time (5 pm) and did not get my hair dyed until 6:45. Secondly the owner kept insisting I get my hair cut even though I told her I got it cut a few weeks before. Again my fault, as a push over I said okay after the third time of her insisting and got my ends cut for only $40 more (only ha). Third, my blow dry was not that great (was frizzy even though they had a bunch of Japanese straightening serums) and as I am leaving I don't get much of a thank you from the owner or hair stylist, I get it, it was a long day (I didn't leave til 9) but wow. At least my hair color was a nice shade. Long story short : Customer service eh, hair stylist okay, the only great thing was the shampoo guy who rocks a head massage like no other. I'm sad I won't be back to have my head washed by him. I will take my thick hair else where! read more

This salon is very modern, clean, and bright. Definitely a high end place. I have long hair and have had my fair share of wash/blow dry services. Let me tell you this is hands down the best I've ever had. The shampoo was at least ten min long (maybe longer I couldn't tell) and included a head massage. I've had times at other salons when I'm having to ask to shampoo my hair twice or felt that they missed spots shampooing at the nape of my neck. Definitely not to worry here. Max the lead stylist was a perfectionist and gave the best blow dry by far. I've had blow drys where my hair wasn't really sectioned off. Or they would almost completely dry my hair before starting to blow dry using a brush. Max is meticulous and did an amazing job. I usually do a shampoo and blow dry to test the waters when picking a stylist, this place definitely passes the test. Can't wait to go back for their other services. Update- got a haircut and a new baylage color added to my ends because I wanted to warm up the color. The haircut was on point. He cut it in a way to keep my hair long, get rid of any dead split ends but added long layers to give volume. Max is a perfectionist and my hair looks so much healthier now! Also, I ran out of time and needed to leave asap, he managed to do this blow dry in 12 minutes flat! Thanks max! 2nd update- EYELASHES- I've gone to three different ladies in the fort lauderdale area to do lash extensions, I've done the xtreme lashes as I thought they were the best. Turns out "the best" has more to do with the person applying them. I used to go to someone that wasn't bad, was certainly affordable, but eyelash application was meh. They would always look great in the beginning but were usually completely gone at the two week mark. Kathy is pretty meticulous with her application and I was floored at the two week mark when I found that most of my eyelashes WERE STILL ON. Additionally, when she applies them, she ensures they are done individually and not clumped in glue with several extensions on one lash. That was the sure fire way to have your natural lashes fall out. I've now made Mulan Spa my go to for eyelashes as well and several of my friends have converted to her too. read more

This was by far the best salon I've ever been to! The entire staff was great. I have naturally straight hair and wanted to go curly. After doing some research on perms, I went in for a digital perm with stylist Johnny Kuod and he gave me the exact look I showed him in a photo. The digital perm took over 5 hours and it went way past closing time, after 9pm at night and on a Sunday but his attitude was never rushed, always wonderful! He was patient and kind and so skilled. He even took his time at the end to give me step by step detailed after care instructions and taught me how to properly hold and use the blow dryer with the diffuser for my new curls. I stopped by Mulan Spa after a shower with men's shampoo left my long hair unmanageable. Mulan offered me a 3 step deep conditioning treatment for $65 plus another $15 for the 4th step of the treatment which was to be applied at home. An $80 deep conditioning treatment is pretty unheard of but I was feeling desperate so I decided to try it out. Afterwards, my stylist suggested that I get a hair cut and recommended that I cut 4 inches of my hair(which was very long, past the small of my back). I declined and instructed him to only cut 2. He proceeded to give me one of haircuts I've ever had! My hair is uneven and worst of all, he cut 4-5 inches anyways. No, I didn't get angry as it's just hair but don't end up like me!
