My experience at Mahall's was not what I expected. I went to the store in search of perennials and native plants. I came prepared with a list of plants that would complement my yard. The gift shop staff was extremely nice, thank you Mary. Once I made it out into the nursery I looked around the plants on my list and got a few. Because the nursery is so large I hoped for some help in finding the rest. I then saw a sign for the information desk where I asked the two associates if I could get some help finding the other perennials on my list. In response, the associate said, "well you'll have to go look outside." From there, I went outside and felt the same frustration. I knew then it was time for me to go and maybe find what I need at a different nursery that had time to help. read more

All plants, even after cleaned, sprayed and repotted were infested and died. So, I went a second time. Maybe my fault. Spent over 100 this time and same situation. We are new to the Omaha area and just bought our first home! We wanted to check out some plants for our barren yard (and hopefully create some shade), so a quick Yelp search and some recommendations from locals sent us to Mulhall's. I think this might be the Disneyland of plants. They have the BIGGEST selection of indoor and outdoor plants I have ever seen. I'm an avid collector of house plants and was pleasantly surprised by their selection of rarer house plants like Thai Constellation monsteras, monstera aurea, albo syngoniums, and even a variegated peru! Really gorgeous house plants. However, the pricing on some of these seemed incredibly high to me (the m. aurea was just shy of $580.00, and I've seen them for almost half that price at other stores), so I've taken off a star for just that. On to the trees! Wow! What a selection!!! I loved the informative plaques around the tree section showing how much space everything would need and other care tips for each species. All the trees looked healthy! We were able to take some reference pictures to bring home and do some yard measuring to see what would work for us and our space/light exposure. I can only speak to their retail side and not their custom landscaping department. They have SO MUCH inventory, it's crazy. (At least when I went there a few months ago.) They had everything that you can think of for this region. From fruit trees/plants to veggies to decorative plants. Even though it was super busy, checking out was pretty quick. And you can see employees everywhere if you need help. I just wish they were closer to Council Bluffs, where I live. But it probably is a good thing that they aren't, as my wallet would be in bad shape. :) read more

Besides selling regular garden gear and indoor plants, they've constructed their very large space into the phootshoot backdrop of your dreams. It's as much of a shoot location as a place to actually purchase plants or outdoor furniture. They have a lot of options for plants, however- and quite a bit of variety when it comes to varieties and species- indoor-outdoor- and succulents. Beautiful to walk around, and while the prices here exceed a Lowe's or Home Depot nursery, there are also a lot of niche items that you cannot find in a more corporate setting. read more

Mulhall's is only about 1/4 of a mile from our home and has been our go-to stop for all landscaping, gardening and outdoor needs for over a decade. The staff is very knowledgeable and will point you in the right direction for any gardening needs. We even worked with their landscaping team when we were considering a large backyard renovation and really enjoyed the experience in working with them. I'm a pretty novice gardener myself, so I figured going to a nursery rather than a place like Lowe's or Home Depot would be better so I could get more help and expertise along with a wider selection. Unfortunately, I had a pretty poor experience at Mulhall's yesterday for 3 reasons: poor signage, lack of customer service, and confusing organization. I went to Mulhall's looking for 3 different types of perennials to put in 3 areas of my landscape. When I entered, I asked where the perennials were and the employee pointed and told me they were back through the greenhouse. I wandered around the greenhouse for about 15 minutes only finding supplies and annuals. Eventually I saw a sign that said Hardy Plants and, putting two and two together, I realized that the perennials were actually outside. This illustrates my biggest complaint: poor signage. I visited on a Monday morning and there were lots of employees but every single one was busy restocking or doing some other task. So every time I had a question, I felt kind of guilty that I had to pull him or her away from what they were doing. I was clearly wandering around somewhat lost, and not once did someone offer assistance. I really had to work to track down someone when I needed something. Finally, I had a hard time finding the items I was looking for. I had researched different shrubs and plants ahead of time so I knew the names of the products I wanted, but their "alphabetization" system was lacking. I would go over to the A's, and follow along the aisle until all of a sudden it skipped to a different letter. Some of the other A's were wrapped around the corner inexplicably. There's such a large area, which means tons of selection, but also a huge opportunity to get lost or confused. It became very frustrating, almost to the point where I wanted to scrap it and just go somewhere else. They really need to redesign their layout. A map on the wall with a diagram of the nursery (like they do in malls) would be helpful. Maybe printed brochures. And clear, large signage written in language that the general public would understand. For the prices they charge, they really ought to help out the customer more. Especially customers that don't have hours to just wander around. One plus was the program you can sign up for where you supply your address and info, and they keep a record of what you buy. Over the year if anything dies or doesn't grow, you can come back next year and get a replacement. I'm hoping I don't need it, but it is a nice reassurance. read more

It was very informative and they had a great selection with reasonable prices. We have visited Mulhall's from time to time over the years and will be back. I absolutely LOVE mulhall's! It is by far the best place to buy plants in Omaha. The selection is never ending for both indoor and outdoor plants as well as cute accessories such as pots and patio furniture. Plants here generally cost more than other places such as hardware stores, but I've never had any issues with plants in the regular sale area (more on that in a bit). They have so many varieties of any plant you could imagine and all are well cared for within the store. None of my mulhall's plants have died even months after buying (I usually kill plants within 1-2 months) and most are appropriately labeled so you can easily look up care instructions (some are just labeled succulent or cactus, but most have species names). My only issue, and the reason for 4 stars rather than 5, is the plant rescue shelf. I love the idea of selling struggling plants at a discounted price in the hopes that someone can give them proper care to revive them. However, there is no labeling on these plants to indicate why they are on the rescue shelf. I decided to buy a Philodendron Narrow off this shelf that looked relatively healthy with a couple tears in the leaves. After bringing this plant home I kept questioning why it was on the discount shelf because it wasn't under or over watered and then several weeks later I realized that the plant had spider mites. The mites from this plant spread to several others in my apartment and caused a massive headache trying to get rid of them. I really wish the plant had been labeled as being infested because I would not have brought it home since it put my other plants at risk. So, moral of this story is buy from the discount shelf with caution (or don't do it at all if you aren't 100% confident what the issue is). read more

If I could figure out how to climb on my roof, I'd be up there announcing to the neighborhood that I am in love. I am very loyal to Cirian's, but Cirian's stock of bigger plants is limited due to its small size. We had a failing retaining wall that required my SO to destroy my flower beds. Instead of crying bitter tears over my peonies, hydrangeas, mock orange, and forsythia, I embraced having a clean slate. Plus, moaning over flowers to someone who already works full-time and then puts in 10-12 hours daily on retaining wall reconstruction is kind of a bad look. So I went to Mulhall's and spent my feelings. And boy, did I spend. This is Trader Joe's/Target-level impulse buying, and I always keep that in mind for myself when I go to greenhouses. I briskly walked past the impressive stock of indoor plants. If you're looking for indoor plants, go to Mulhall's; I certainly will in the future. Towers of succulents. Mostera philodendrons. Rainbows of bromeliads. Fiddle Leaf Figs. Eyes on the prize, I had to be like Odysseus putting wax in his sailors' ears to bypass the sirens as I made my way to the outdoor landscaping plants. It was a treasure trove. I came home with a Vanilla Strawberry hydrangea, a rhododendron, weigelas, elderberry, and some impulse-buy heucheras and ferns. The lovely staff complimented my selections and color choices, and told me to make sure I joined the members' club. They will replace plants that fail within a year, and as was explained to me, within the season of the year, so something bought in August could still be honored even if was in September of the following year. New rule: Cirian's for small things, and Mulhall's for the big'ns. read more

My absolute favorite place to get plants, cute bouquet, or any gardening supplies. The staff is super helpful and will check in with you every now and again and make sure you are doing alright. Also most if the workers I have talked really know their stuff and can usually easily answer any questions or concerns your have about your plants or gardens. I have a black thumb when it comes too houseplants. I'm rarely able to keep them alive beyond a month. That is until I found Mulhall's. They offer houseplant 101 classes, tips and tricks, and you can bring your struggling plant in and ask for help. They also have awesome events here. Painting, macrame lessons, plant care classes, gardening/landscaping classes, and big events where they bring in food and drink vendors. Their Houseplant event was last weekend (follow them on Instagram to stay up to date) and it was fantastic. They have a huge selection of plants and great landscaping, flowers, etc. from Spring-Autumn. They also have a large selection of pots for you to purchase, in all price ranges. If you buy your pot and plant there, you can go to Plant Care and they'll help you pot your new plant so you don't have to mess with it at home. It's so convenient! read more

This is a one stop shop for everything decorative. Aside from their huge plant and floral assortment, this store is a huge merchandised store. Every area of the store looks like its out of a magazine. It's great for inspiration or get it and go shopping. I came for the Reindeer and left with a handful of awesome photos fit for a Christmas card. There are little vignettes set up over the store in December so you can get those get photos. I can't wait to come back in the Spring to look for wall art and yard decor. If you think this place is just plants, think again, and come see for yourself. read more

Mulhall's offers a wide selection of bedding plants, lawn ornaments, outdoor furniture and other stuff to make your yard just a tacky as your neighbor's. Despite their huge selection, the place is invariably packed with people, which doesn't exactly make for an enjoyable experience. Particularly when you're having to wrestle an elderly woman for the last flat of tomatillos. My wife received a garden planning consultation from Mulhall's as a gift, which we were both very excited about, However, the gentleman who came out proceeding to berate us for some of our landscape choices made in the interest of using minimal amounts of water and didn't really listen to what my wife wanted. A very bad approach with my wife. If you like paying too much for gardening supplies and plants, Mulhall's is great. I use them only when I need plants that I can't find other places (such as the aforementioned tomatillo plants). read more

As far as gardening and landscaping stores, this place has it all. What you won't find here is a bargain. Everything is on the more expensive side of the spectrum, but for the most part you are buying better quality items than your typical box store. There is a huge selection of plants during the spring and summer, including annuals, perennials, and trees and shrubs. Pretty much if it grows, you will probably find it here. They also have a large selection of fountains, patio furniture and gardening supplies, along with a smaller selection of higher end indoor furnishings. I was not able to see the entire store in one day. I've heard about this place and wanted to check it out. One of the things I've heard is that they are a bit expensive, but I found the prices to be more than reasonable. I just need a few plants which I was able to find with some help of the staff but will definitely be back when I have more time to explore. I did notice that they have a good selection of succulents and bulbs which I plan to check out at a later date. I went to Mulhalls today to get a replacement hanging basket that I bought elsewhere. It was a hot, hot day. They had a ton of begonia baskets, which I didn't want. A young worker must have read my over heated face or mind. She stopped and asked if I was finding what I wanted. I told her that I was looking for a calibrocha hanging basket. She said "follow me" and took me over to the place they were. I found exactly what I wanted, and of course bought 4 cactus, and some other plants before checking out! I don't buy at the big box stores, while Mulhall's is a big place, it is privately owned and the workers seem to care about you. read more

I was concerned about the condition of 2 of the plants so I called the plant care dept and Melissa asked me to bring them in. They kept my plants for 24 hours so they could diagnose the problem. When I came back the next day they had diagnosed the problem and handwritten a care sheet. And had 2 products to recommend. Mick Does Mulhall's Proud! I was having an issue with getting someone to call me back from Mulhalls to get some repairs done to a fountain i had purchased there many years ago. I was very frustrated after many attempts and decided to try doing the job mnyself or hire someone else. Wrote a review on Yelp and explained the situation and gave them one star for service. Not only did Mick read my review, which means they are tuned in to socail media, he personally called me on Mothers Day to apologize. He promised someone would call me back on Monday and get an appointment set up right away. Guess what. Monday came and I got a call from their team and we set an appointment up for Friday. Mick called back to make sure the time was okay and not too far in the future and i explained it worked best for me. The guys came out yesterday and leveled my fountain, put in a new pump and got it up and running again beautifully! They were the nicest guys that i have ever met and very polite. I really enjoy the selection here, however the service not so much. We invested in two bigger trees for our new home a year ago. They delivered and planted. This Spring we noticed issues with both trees and immediately called to have somebody come out and check since you get a two year warranty on trees. Weeks and more than multiple phone calls later we make a trip into the store and get a date for somebody to come look. Mind you they told us their tree person goes out on Tuesdays. If you are having this busy of a season, maybe some extra help is needed?? Finally, two weeks later and work schedules again moved around they come out to inspect. Both trees with about two years of rooting need replacing. One has frost crack really bad (we wrapped the trees last Fall through Spring) and the other has a winged bore that has been eating the tree since before it was planted in our yard. Great!!! We think of ourselves as savy homeowners, who don't just plant and leave our trees. Immediately we go pick out two replacement trees so we don't have to wait like we did. They were irked with us because we asked a lot of questions. Wouldn't you if in the same situation?? We go get credit and start the process of replacement. It took us 45 minutes to figure out how to input into the system. I guess it was rocket science to know this information. Not once was there any "We apologize for the wait." There was some hipeeish man there and when some people he knew came up, was out of there leaving the other man to fend for himself. Four weeks later a few phone calls and a visit to the store to schedule replacement when our trees are set to deliver, we are sitting here, missing work again and waiting for the trees to be replaced. Where is the customer service? I am a believer in shopping local. When I am treated like this, no matter how much money I have spent, I will go elsewhere. read more
