I had purchased several plants its, soil and pots from here over the past several months. I was concerned about the condition of 2 of the plants so I called the plant care dept and Melissa asked me to bring them in. They kept my plants for 24 hours so they could diagnose the problem. When I came back the next day they had diagnosed the problem and handwritten a care sheet. And had 2 products to recommend. Wish their communication in this place was a little better. I called to see if they had any African Violets and the lady said "oh, we have a lot of those." Drove all the way out there to be told that they don't have any of those and haven't had them for years. Really upset me. Used to love them until this happened. read more

This place has gone down hill over the past 10 years. So disappointed with the lack of knowledge and quality recently yet the prices are higher than ever. They really don't seem to keep gardeners as their priority. Save your money go to home depot for plants, they have just as good of a selection and quality for spring planting, at half the price. read more

I grew up listening to my mother rant every summer about how Walmart murders its plants. Mulhall's was her favorite antidote. Sure, you pay a little extra, but the selection is better and you know your plants have been well taken care of. Plus, the service is better to the same degree a three inch Porterhouse steak is better than a hamburger from McDonald's. Mick Does Mulhall's Proud! I was having an issue with getting someone to call me back from Mulhalls to get some repairs done to a fountain i had purchased there many years ago. I was very frustrated after many attempts and decided to try doing the job mnyself or hire someone else. Wrote a review on Yelp and explained the situation and gave them one star for service. Not only did Mick read my review, which means they are tuned in to socail media, he personally called me on Mothers Day to apologize. He promised someone would call me back on Monday and get an appointment set up right away. Guess what. Monday came and I got a call from their team and we set an appointment up for Friday. Mick called back to make sure the time was okay and not too far in the future and i explained it worked best for me. The guys came out yesterday and leveled my fountain, put in a new pump and got it up and running again beautifully! They were the nicest guys that i have ever met and very polite. I really enjoy the selection here, however the service not so much. We invested in two bigger trees for our new home a year ago. They delivered and planted. This Spring we noticed issues with both trees and immediately called to have somebody come out and check since you get a two year warranty on trees. Weeks and more than multiple phone calls later we make a trip into the store and get a date for somebody to come look. Mind you they told us their tree person goes out on Tuesdays. If you are having this busy of a season, maybe some extra help is needed?? Finally, two weeks later and work schedules again moved around they come out to inspect. Both trees with about two years of rooting need replacing. One has frost crack really bad (we wrapped the trees last Fall through Spring) and the other has a winged bore that has been eating the tree since before it was planted in our yard. Great!!! We think of ourselves as savy homeowners, who don't just plant and leave our trees. Immediately we go pick out two replacement trees so we don't have to wait like we did. They were irked with us because we asked a lot of questions. Wouldn't you if in the same situation?? We go get credit and start the process of replacement. It took us 45 minutes to figure out how to input into the system. I guess it was rocket science to know this information. Not once was there any "We apologize for the wait." There was some hipeeish man there and when some people he knew came up, was out of there leaving the other man to fend for himself. Four weeks later a few phone calls and a visit to the store to schedule replacement when our trees are set to deliver, we are sitting here, missing work again and waiting for the trees to be replaced. Where is the customer service? I am a believer in shopping local. When I am treated like this, no matter how much money I have spent, I will go elsewhere. read more

I'm always on the lookout for interesting plants...like the kind you'd see in a Dr. Seuss book. With that in mind, I know I won't find many of them at a big box store and I do like to support independent businesses when I can. However, any and every time I've asked about certain weirdo plants, I usually get strange looks and some doubting looks as if to say, "I've never heard of this...are you SURE it's a plant and not a planet?" To be sure, the people are helpful and friendly...until you ask why their store doesn't carry a certain shrub or rose. Then the vibe gets decidedly offensive and certainly insulted. Maybe I ask too much, but I say, I would like to see some offbeat perennials and shrubs added to the more ho-hum everyday stuff. read more

Mulhall's was more then I expected it to be. They have a lot of furniture and other things not found at most nurseries. I feel that they run on the high end side of the spectrum. I did not purchase anything at the time of my visit, but I did ask a few of the staff some questions and they were helpful. read more

I've never met Mick but he was professional, understanding, and listened to my concerns. He seemed genuinely concerned about my experience and wanted to make sure I was satisfied with the level of service I got from Mulhall's. We worked it out but more importantly to me, it showed me what kind of business owner he is. I think he will look at his internal processes and find where the "gap" was. Because of this, I have edited my review. ************************************************************ PRO's: Friendly people, great selection and healthy plants and high quality products. CON's: You should expect to pay a premium for quality I had an issue where the delivery of my fountain ended up being 2x-3x what I was expecting. I wrote a detailed review of the situation. On 9/16, the issue was resolved when it landed on Mick's desk and he called me directly. I had a good conversation with him. Not only was he concerned about my satisfaction, but also how he could fix the process within his company. Nice place and nice people. The true test for any business is how they take care of customers when things don't go perfectly. I believe Mick understands this. The crew that delivered/installed was very professional and courteous too. I would still advise anybody having work done to ask for the bid in writing. read more

It's not obvious from their web site, but they do a great job with flower arrangements. I ordered twice by phone for a relative and they were wonderful. Also, they did not leave flowers on the porch in the heat; they went back the next day to re-deliver when no one answered. read more

What started off as an easy experience took a left turn, but they got back on track fast! My wife and I went and paid for a cubic yard of topsoil only to find out that they were completely sold out. It appeared that there was a full bay of topsoil and when we asked about it, the employee had no idea what it was. Another associate came over and verified that it was a sand mixture and confirmed bulk topsoil was in fact sold out. He was quick to apologize and said he would make it right. And he did! He figured out how many bags of topsoil it would take to fill the cubic yard and loaded them into my truck right away. He even offered to throw in a couple of bags at no charge for the hassle, which I declined. I really needed the soil and Mulhall's delivered! Thanks for the help to all involved! read more

I just bought some lilac plants over the phone for a Mother's Day gift. Alan took over an hour to explain exactly what they had available and the differences between each plant (I live out of town and also know nothing about plants). Super affordable and a great range of options, but my favorite part of the whole experience was that Alan truly cares about the product and is willing to spend the time finding out exactly how to help you find what you're looking for. I asked 5 different people for help finding a catnip plant. Each person just kept passing me off to a different person. They didn't even get a different person for me. They told me what counter to go to and it was never nearby. The final person said "I don't think we have any." If she said "We don't have them" then that's fine. But when they say "I don't THINK we have any", that just says they really have no idea - nor do they have any intention of finding out. When the guy ran up the two Milkweed plants I bought, he asked if I found everything OK. When I said "No..." and tried to ask him about the catnip plant, he cut me off and talked over me. Why even ask? The place is literally a jungle of plants. There was no way to find the catnip without asking for help. As for the milkweed, one guy told me they had none and the next person said they did and told me in which row to go find them. They had them. I'll never know if they really had catnip or not because after seeking out and asking 4 people, I gave up and left. Not going back. read more

My husband went to Mullhalls today to by some flowers, tree's, bushes, landscaping supplies for our new home we just built. He was there for about an hour, and could not get one person to help him, or even acknowledge him for that matter. He was very disappointed, especially with this being his first visit to Mullhalls. He did say Mullhalls had an amazing selection to choose from, and would have bought everything we needed from there, if he could of just had someone offer to help him! read more

Recently made a huge purchase of a 4 tier water fountain. The day we bought it, the managers of 2 departments involved told us they would give us a new pump and tubing as it had been running as a display for quite some time. They would crate up the fountain and we would come back the next week. We got there the next week and the fountain was laying on pallets with nothing secured. We had more than an hour to travel. We had to secure and package all the tiers to ensure they wouldn't be damaged. When we unloaded the fountain, there was not a new pump or tubing as promised. When I called to inform them, I was met with a surprisingly rude manager! He made me feel like I was a common thief trying to get something for free! After speaking to the original girl that made the promise, they would give us the pump and tubing we were guaranteed. So back in the car I go for another 1 1/2 hr drive to go pick it up and return the old one. I arrived and was quickly given the pump, however they did not have the tubing we needed and told me since I decided to customize the fountain by adding a pool ($6000 at Mulhalls, ($500 at. Another retailer) that I customized the fountain and they would not provide the tube to each all the tiers the fountain has. I simply said to the manager that I was disappointed they would t follow thru with what they guaranteed and I would not spend another dime in their store. He told me in a most disrespectful snarky way, Di what you gotta do and then as I walked away continued to bad mouth me to the other workers there! I went to the front and asked to speak with the owner/manager only to have the original manager chase after me and try to patch things up and make sure I didn't eat them out. I will never do business there again and will be sure to share with everyone how poorly I was treated and how crappy their service really is! read more

Reported Mulhall's to the BBB last Christmas because I made a phone purchase for an expensive home lighted Christmas decor, which happened to be the last one in stock (told by the sales consultant on the phone). I made the phone purchase due to a morning work shift and explained I would arrive that same day at noon to pick up the merchandise. All seemed joyous, until I arrived to pick up my purchase for $100.00. My item was throw in a box (not the box it was delivered in) with both ends open. My item was too big for the box, and bundled with tape! The employee at the register said I had to take the floor model, due to the last in stock being sold prior to my arrival. The owner, Mick, rudely stated that he often substitutes orders for floor models, without any discount. Mick was insulting and unwilling to find any misconduct in my complaint. He said, "If you don't like the way we handled your phone purchase, bring it back and I will refund you 100%." I came to Mulhall's today with my mom as she was excited to use her gift card I had gotten her for mother's day. When we were checking out the unfriendly young cashier was having some difficulties with ringing something up or something needed to be fixed in the system. She was not communicating to my mom that there was a problem so my mom was not in the loop as to what was going on (nor was I really but I spoke up later on to figure this all out). My mom had already swiped her gift card and then swiped her credit card to pay the remaining balance. So we patiently waited as the cashier ignored us the whole time and then quietly (you could barely hear her) asked my mom to swipe her card even though my mom already had. She was not communicating with my mom so my mom was confused as to what was going on and why she needed to swipe her card again. So my mom swiped her card again even though she was never told what was happening. Then this girl just walks away and my mom and I are just standing there confused. She comes back with another girl, neither of them acknowleding us or let us know what is going on STILL and they turn their backs to us. I get it, things happen with computer systems, etc. the problem I have is with how rude, unfriendly, and non-communicative these staff were. I blame it on their age, lack of self confidence, and obvious lack of customer service skills. It was very obvious that this cashier seemed to have a shy personality which is fine but boy was she lacking manners. Once the other gal came over to help I asked what had happened. This gal explained it briefly then went back to ignoring us. The regular cashier then softly spoke to us and we couldn't understand or hear her so I asked her to repeat what she said but louder. She looked at us like we were idiots and I had to lean in to hear her say "swipe your card". This girl needs an attitude adjustment as well. You have such a nice store but some of the employees need serious customer service training. read more
