ok let's just say you can make this at home! SERIOUSLY. Go to the grocery store and buy the exact same ingredients which would be the frozen food aisles as well as canned food! THE only 2 items that appeared to be made in house and fresh were the fried chicken and the macaroni and cheese (pretty sure not real cheese but maybe something like Velveeta or something) lets start with the appearance- a dive lots of tables and those old old old fashioned metal chairs with the cushioned bottom and back. some areas are a tight fit. (oddly enough isn't it a sort of stupid idea to place lots of tight fitted tables and chairs together in a all you can eat fatty food place?) they have the same stupid painted "windows" on the walls that the last restaurant here had (and they were WAY better- wish there was still and Italian place here) Staff- lots of them! get could really just use 3 servers! I mean geez the majority of patrons are getting buffet- not real hard to refill drinks and remove used plates. but any way they were all very pleasant Let me just say be aware of some RUDE patrons- cut in front of you in the buffet line just walk up and some want to go the wrong way that the others in a line are going and take their sweet time holding everyone up! They appear to be regulars- but guess what next time I won't hold my tongue- and you will be told off! FOOD- here is where the REAL trouble is fried chicken was decent- appears to be salt and pepper and flour then fried (cause it tastes just like my coating i do at home) BUT there are NO wings (my favorite) and the cut the breast in half but the small piece I had was DRY as could be BBQ chicken was falling off the bone appeared to either be boiled or baked and then smothered in a dark sweet sauce fried shrimp cheap previously frozen tiny little shrimp that is mostly breading they have this "smothered chicken" that is their fried chicken sitting in this God awful gravy. rice was that uncle ben's sorta bland nasty rice mashed potatoes are the boxed kind the salad bar dressings are CHEAP kind, the ranch was the worst ranch I have every had- SUPER SWEET like it was made with miracle whip instead of mayonnaise. DESSERTs- none made in house. hard cookies and cakes that are less than good quality. all vegetables appear to be from a canned variety and no flavor The tea was the highlight- it was actually very good and not overly sweet! SO if you want good southern food from a buffet then keep driving and go to JoMars next to McDonald's. the selection is HUGE. plus they have lots of great desserts, soups, fresh fruits and the salad bar is WAY better not to mention a entire regular menu! the buffet items are better in selection as well as majority made in house.

    Clean, spacious dining.

Passing through the area to look at a house, found this on Yelp. Clean and comfortable, full of friendly people and really nice staff. You can order things from the menu but we ended up eating from the buffet. For the amount of money, you can get a decent salad and a big variety of home cooking, as well as desserts. It was very filling and very tasty and the buffet area is very clean and well tended.

    CAN. NOT. BEAT. THAT.

Came on opening day, the wife has been waiting months for this place to be ready to open. Drove in and someone directed us past the drive thru line to circle the building just to get back into the drive thru line. Took us about 8 minutes to get up front to order, where there was a nice young woman taking the orders. The line went fast after that and we got our food from a very nice gentleman and went on our way. Got home and was excited to see how this food compared to their neighbor and competitor. I got a pancake combo with eggs and sausage and my wife got a bacon and egg biscuit with a side of gravy. Off the bat I knew the pancakes were going to be bad, something about the look of them. I was very right about that, they were dry and just fell apart with no real taste to them. Eggs were ok and sausage was good. Wife's sandwich looked a little flat but she liked it. Overall this was the opening day so we will see how things change over time. Would still recommend giving them a try.

The lady in front of me had apparently made an error with her order and the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating in correcting the situation. The manager even introduced himself to me and shook my hand before taking my order. I got my order for takeout and thoroughly enjoyed it. So bottom line is that the food is very good and the service and atmosphere is outstanding. I will definitely be back next time that I am in Lancaster.

The hostess, our waitress and the walk around staff refilling water was top tier. Excellent customer service. Our waitress wasbbomb, I hate i forgot her name. Seriously. Everything has pork. I got a handheld egg sandwich with tomato and cheese on a croissant with their potatoes. Basic sandwich, dry and the cheese & tomato were an extra charge. The potatoes were hard like they're old. The mimosa was good, regular sparkling with pineapple juice. And their tip machine doubles the recommended amount so for my $9 mimosa it generates a +$3 tip at 18 % but it should have been under $2. Just wanted to point that out too. I won't be back.

It's one…read moreof those comfort foods I don't eat often because it's so rich--but when I see it on a menu, it absolutely catches my attention. That's exactly what drew me to The Southern Pecan in SouthPark. Here in the South, they call it country fried steak, and I'm happy to report this one did not disappoint. I met a colleague there for lunch, and everything about the experience felt easy from the start. The restaurant is located in Phillips Place, a lovely little shopping area that feels a bit polished and upscale--with shops like Orvis, Tory Burch, and even a Restoration Hardware restaurant nearby. They do offer valet parking, which is a nice touch, though honestly parking is easy enough on your own. We had reservations through OpenTable and were seated on the patio, which was absolutely delightful for this time of year in Charlotte. The weather was perfect, the setting was relaxed, and the service started off warm and welcoming right away. Now, the food. The country fried steak was beautifully cooked--crispy on the outside, tender inside, and served with creamy mashed potatoes and gravy that hit all the nostalgic notes from my Texas upbringing. I paired it with a vegetable side (I believe it was broccoli or corn), and it was a classic Southern plate done right. We also enjoyed a couple of cocktails, and to finish, we split a praline bread pudding, which felt like the perfect Southern ending to the meal--sweet, comforting, and indulgent without being overwhelming. The staff was friendly and attentive, and one of the things I continue to appreciate about Charlotte is how easy it is to connect with people. We even chatted with diners at nearby tables, which added to that welcoming, community feel that makes dining out here so enjoyable--especially for someone coming from the Bay Area. Prices felt fair for the quality, the setting, and the portion sizes, and overall the experience left a great impression. Bottom line: If you're craving a solid Southern classic like country fried steak--or just want a relaxed patio lunch in a charming part of SouthPark--The Southern Pecan is definitely worth a visit. And as someone happily eating my way through Charlotte and the Southeast, this stop was another reminder that the journey has been a delicious one.

After having the crab cake sandwich we would recommend doing the platter because the bread overpowers the crab cake. Everything was incredible, the flavors, consistency, and quality. Coleslaw was "meh," but a good, crunchy foil to the fish and rice. Counter Service (order at register, then they bring to table/to-go) was quite fast, given that they had to cook the fish and prep foods for take-out.
