Ok so here we go with the BBQ, place is absolutely Eclectic and the atmosphere is amazing. The staff was absolutely a delight. Now to the main reason you go to a BBQ joint...the BBQ. For me middle of the road. I ordered moist brisket and I don't feel that is was the moist side, wasn't the lean side, but not what I am used to. Ribs and sausage were good, I prefer a sweet rib and these are not. Doesn't make them bad, just not my style. Sides we're ok, not the best, but I have had way worse. I was super glad to enjoy Mumphord's on my last trip to Victoria. Reviews were great, and my local business partners highly recommended it. However, had a sad experience in the Spring as I went there for lunch, pulled up and thought "Wow I am first here" Ha-Ha, NO! The family, and they are all family who run this great place, were closed to take a well-needed vacation, lol. So, did not begrudge them and hold it against them and the next time I came down, called first, haha. The place smells amazing, lovely folks there, lots of amazing pics of their history in Victoria. I got the three meat please, sausage, brisket and ribs with coleslaw, green beans, and sweet tea. Ribs were succulent, tender, tasty. Brisket well cut and great burnt ends and sausage was good, not great. Coleslaw excellent, green beans kind of "meh". Overall, great experience and will so very much be back next time I am in town! The bbq is great, zero complaints on the food. The staff however, the 3 people I interacted with were borderline rude. I was friendly, said please and thank you and received dirty looks and eye rolls. The brisket was dry, had no bark, and no smoke ring or flavor. The chicken was seasoned well, but dried out. Sausage was cooked well, but didn't have much flavor either. Ribs were nothing special either. Well cooked, but no smoke ring or bark and overall a lack of flavor. One of my friends thought maybe everything was baked instead of smoked, based on presentation and flavor. Great people and a unique place, but not what I was expecting based on the other reviews. This is a very good BBQ restaurant. Family owned and run. We had the smoke turkey and a brisket plate. My brisket was very good with excellent smoke flavor. The coleslaw was fresh and very tasty but the big surprise were the green beans! I will bet there will not be one single review on Yelp where somebody tells you it's worth the drive here just to have the green beans! These are so good we got second helpings. OH MY LORD!! This place is a Gem! I have eaten in so many Barbecue joints from Tennessee all down to the end of Texas. This place is amazing! My husband and I had business to do in Victoria for the day from San Antonio. We decided for lunch we would try out Mumphord's, so glad we did. As we enter the atmosphere we had a good vibe, it was busy pretty for lunch. But it didn't take long for us to get to the counter to order. When we sat down we waited about 5 to 7 mins for the food to come. Given how busy they were the food came quick. Green beans are amazing, Coleslaw was good, the brisket was awesome. The portion size was really good for what the price is. Their prices are very good when it comes to portion size. Everyone working there we all very nice and observant as well as Attentive to the guess coming in and leaving. The lady delivering food stopped by to see how our food was. She was funny and full of fun. We enjoyed this family-owned business, definitely will come back again to just eat here from San Antonio. Great food and great people. read more

The kid had the rib plate with potato salad and coleslaw. Best side was the green beans, hands down. We both liked the coleslaw, too. The potato salad was good but very sweet. First visit. Welcoming atmosphere. Arrived during lunch crush, got in the line and waited for about 10 minutes. Food often comes out before you even finish paying. Owners and staff are very friendly and nice. Tables and floor are clean and taken care of. Wife and i prdered the holy trinity of meat, the three meat plate. Ribs, brisket and sausage. Got green beans and Cole slaw for sides. We told them we were sharing so they included an additional plate. Portion size was very generous and plenty for us to share. Overall quality of the meats were good, excellent smokiness but unfortunately the brisket and the ribs were both very dry. Sausage is not house made but very tasty. Sauce was not thick or too thin, with good sweetness with a mild tart tang. Green beans were amazing and tasted home made. Also picked up some church fundraiser peanut brittle which was quite good. This is clearly a popular place with many locals and repeat customers. It's possible that our experience is not the norm. It would be unfair to claim that this place is not good based on one visit.
