I want to really love Huvar's. The food is always delicious and the servers are so friendly. What else could a gal want? The service times are so brutal though that I can't give more stars. My review comes with the caveat that I've only been to Huvar's for brunches so far. I've yet to try pizza night, which I've heard is awesome. I'll update my review once I get to it. Without fail, every time I've been to Huvar's for brunch I've waited longer than an hour for food to arrive. Sometimes it's that the kitchen is backed up. Sometimes it's that the workforce is unorganized and chaotic. I can't know the root cause since I'm not back there watching it all unfold. But it's consistently an issue. Recently, we went for their Valentine's pop-up brunch (truly adorable btw) and waited an hour and a half for our food. We had reservations for 11:30am and sat down right away. They were understandably busy so we ordered drinks right away and quickly decided what we wanted to eat. Tables around us said they'd been waiting an hour on their food so we tried to get our order in as fast as we could. We ordered food by 12:00pm and it did not arrive to our table until 1:30pm. Luckily our food was warm when it arrived, but tables around us received cold food. The servers all said the kitchen was backed up which caused the delay, but there was also food sitting out in the counter waiting to be run for extended periods of time. We still enjoyed ourselves and their cute Valentine's themed mimosas, but Huvar's has had pop-up brunches before so one would expect they'd be able to manage the demand. Again, the food is always delicious. But it's not worth a 90 minute wait for me. I'll keep coming back and having hope for the process to improve, but I'll be sure to eat some snacks ahead of time. read more

We picked up lunch here and was great. The sandwich ingredients were fresh and it was executed very well. Tasted delicious. Soup was also hot and tasty. Onion rings were crispy, lightly breaded (the way I like it). Service was very friendly and efficient. Love this little hiding place! First time visiting, service was a tad slow (my opinion) place filled up quickly at High Noon!! Get the Basil Hummus (appetizer) very delicious. I got the Buffalo Chicken wrap (without cheese) and kettle chips. Portion was enough for two people and overall was pretty good. Stopped at Huvar's for lunch today... It is a beautiful, cozy little restaurant in a really cute area of downtown Victoria! Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of our food. We were hungry and I forgot! We ordered the City Hall salad, the Pimento Cheese Sandwich, and the Chicken Salad sandwich. All were delicious! The Chicken Salad was so incredibly seasoned and all of the bread was perfectly toasted. The meals coming out around us were all beautifully presented and looked scrumptious as well. Service was great! They had multiple servers working the very full dining area. It was a tad bit slow at times, but we were there at the very busiest time of day. I applaud the staff for their hard work and attentiveness! What an unexpected and pleasant surprise. We have been on vacation for 7 days and eating out all meals. I am going to vote this breakfast my "best meal on vacation" The breakfast menu was limited, might be due to Covid. I had the biscuit with a generous piece of panko-crusted fried brie cheese, topped with raspberry jam, a fried egg and bacon. The portion was just right. Not super huge. The components all really complimented each other. This wasn't just small town Texas good, I would put this up against some of my favorite San Francisco brunches. My husband had a cheese omelet and added poblanos, spinach and sausage. My only quibble, was that the dining room was freezing cold (and I love the cold and have been known to linger in the Costco cold room). Service was good, and the bathrooms were clean. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this place. It is super cute and I loved my omelet but my husband's Monte Cristo was burned (100% black, see pics) on the inside face of the bread and they did not give him his side of hash browns. Apparently they were out of them but no substitute?? When we pointed out the bread was burned and ruined the whole sandwich, they comped $6.75 of the $11 sandwich...which was already missing the $2 hash browns so they basically took $4.75 off. I don't get this logic. I guess they figure he ate the ham & cheese from the inside so we owed them most of the money. Bad customer service imo. read more

Delightful restaurant in downtown Victoria off of Lynn Street. Parking is hard to find, so get there early to find a spot on the street (2 hour max). A cute place with two floors. We sat upstairs and the wait staff was incredibly attentive and the food came out quick! I ordered the ahi tuna wrap and wasn't expecting much. People I was dining with had the kale salad and they absolutely loved their food but noted that they would add chicken or salmon to the salad next time. My ahi tuna was delicious and the dipping sauce was oh so good! The fish was fresh and seasoned well my only suggestion is that they serve it rare but sear the sides, for me, the tuna was overcooked but that's a personal preference in spite of that it still tasted delicious. I would love to go back and try more dishes especially their homemade soups. read more

This place is amazing! I had the Lemon Tahini Power Bowl and it was kale, sweet potato, avocado, Seeds, garbanzo beans, all mixed in a lemon tahini dressing. My friend tried the Cobb salad and the soup of the day which was a poblano potato. It was really smooth and yummy. Kind of creamy like a broccoli cheddar but with a touch of spice. A cute little restaurant in downtown Victoria! I came in on a weekday and luckily found parking quite easily. It's all street parking, so plan accordingly! I was seated rather quickly. They have seating both upstairs and downstairs. The service was prompt and very pleasant. I ordered the spicy Caesar salad which did not disappoint! It was loaded with tomatoes, pepperoncini peppers, thin strips of dried salami, croutons, and a light dressing. Perfectly balanced and tasted super fresh. Was looking forward to going here for several days. I did my homework and noted down their restricted timings. Noted that their kitchen closes at 2pm and they close for lunch at 3pm. I had already reviewed their menu online, so I even knew what I wanted to order.I barely got out of work. I got there at 1:50pm......10 minutes before the kitchen closes and I was turned away. Was told that the kitchen is closed. Was not even allowed to take away food. Clearly they don't need my business. After a COVID lockdown one would think they would be pleased with more customers. #verydissapointed. read more

One of my favorite spots to go to. Perfect to take a date out. Great food, and really good atmosphere can't recommend Huvars enough.

We came because we were hoping for a somewhat healthy breakfast, and though the breakfast menu was sparse, they had a couple options that looked appealing. Unfortunately, of the four or five options they had for breakfast, one of them (the chia seed pudding) wasn't ready to be served. So we ended up getting the English brekky and a smoothie. The pro's: The eggs were cooked perfectly, and they were very gracious in accommodating our vegetarian preferences by substituting a cup of fruit in lieu of the standard bacon. The fruit was fresh and ripe, really good. The biscuits and raspberry jam were also fantastic! I can only imagine how amazing they would be in a biscuits and gravy situation. *drool* The cons: We waited nearly 30 minutes for two plates and a side of biscuits (and there was only two other people in the restaurant- and they had already been served). It would not have been a big deal, but we were passing through town on our way to an appt. so we had to scarf it down in 5 minutes. The potatoes were ok, very greasy and almost burned on one side, still ok. But the toast was doused in oil. Nice and crisp on the outside, greasy and oil laden all the way through. We NEVER send food back- but I've never seen a piece of toast like that before... if we hadn't been so pressed for time, I would have asked for a biscuit instead. The strawberry banana smoothie was not really a smoothie at all... more like an ice-y. Tart and barely any fruit. It tasted like a fruit flavored ice slush. All in all a decent place to eat, nice atmosphere... But next time we will save our appetites to try their lunch offerings. read more

This is my favorite restaurant in Victoria by a landslide!!! It's one of those place that makes you forget where you are. you know its going to be a good place from the moment you walk in... The staff is super friendly, I think everyone greeted me and genuinely smiled at me. The decor is very classy as well. I got in early at 11am, I bet it gets packed really fast more around noon. Tiffany was my server, she was both knowledgable and helpful. Her recommendations were right on point. I had the cuban & a bowl of the tomato basil soup. Both were amazing!
