There are two things that make Mum's such a rewarding place to visit. The huge amount of high quality inventory and the people. I felt like I had professional designers working with me as I was led around the store getting nudged into and out of my design comfort zone.. If there is something that they don't have on the floor they can immediately find it in catalogs and they have thousands of fabric samples right in the store and are absolutely fine with checking them out and taking them home to check colors and styles. . One does not fully appreciate this level of care until you go somewhere else where the experience is usually much worse than just shopping online. Everyone in the store is professional. I felt as comfortable as if I was sitting in my house as they don't rush you nor do they ignore you. When you come back in after a few weeks they even recognize you ! This is not the place to buy cheap college furniture nor that storage cabinet for your garage but if you are looking for that perfect comfortable sofa with clean lines that you can customize just enough for your taste and style this is the place. And did I mention all of their rug selections? If you are overwhelmed they will pick out just the right one for you from their hundreds of samples! Go to SC41 for Stressless Ekornes furniture.....or any amazing furniture. I'm officially done dealing with Mum's. I just can't make myself drive there ONE MORE time to pick up pieces they didn't give me the first time, correct the situation because they gave me the wrong thing, or to pick up furniture because they forgot to include my $9000 order on the delivery truck. I had to leave work early to pick items up. I think I'm at three receipts now. First two because for some reason my Stressless furniture order was split in two (no reason, we listed it all together). Third receipt because after the 9-10 week wait I find out my elevator ring wasn't ordered. I am ready to go to SC41 in Soquel/Santa Cruz and just re-pay to get it right. I'm a very patient person, but 5 trips and many phone calls is getting taxing especially when I know how I'll be met. They were done with me when our money cleared the bank. It's in my husbands hands if he doesn't want me re-buying parts. Oh, its now a rule in my house to not tell people where we got our new furniture set. We just say to go to SC41. read more

This is a class furniture store. Their array of leather couches and chairs is amazing. They also have a lot of accessories such as lamps, pictures and decorations. The salespeople are friendly and helpful, but they also let you roam on your own. I went into a different store and the salesperson followed me around. I took one pass and walked out the door there. I purchased two Stressless chairs from Mum's place. These chairs were a bit on the more expensive side from what I have purchased before. Our initial impression was that this was going to be a good experience. My family has been coming to this store for many years. We put down an initial deposit to get these chairs which took the better part of 6 weeks to come in. We were expecting that. What we didn't expect was that only 1 chair came in.... I asked them what happened with only one chair when we paid for two... and they couldn't give me a straight answer. They did allow us to "borrow" another chair until the second one came in.....another 3-6 week wait. On the first delivery, the deliver guy damaged our front door bringing the couch out of the house IOT bring the new chair in. There has been out outreach about the damaged door and no discount/coupon/anything to make up for the weeks and weeks of waiting. I would have expected them to knock a few bucks off the price of the second chair or even give an in store credit towards a future purchase.... oh and fix the door. Customer service is TERRIBLE... I will not be going back. read more

I recently purchased a dinette set for a senior friend of mine. We were impressed with the volume of furniture we saw. My friend was moving into a senior living apartment which was only 500 sq ft so he needed a small table with 2 chairs. We had been looking for some time and were surprised that Marilyn, the sales person at Mums had several sets. Marilyn not only let us select the chairs my friend liked the most but also made it affordable by working with us on the price. We were relieved to find an attractive set and a reasonable price and Marilyn even helped us by reducing the price of delivery. She also gave us a great recommendation to a restaurant within walking distance that was family owned with great food. Our entire experience was great and we plan to go back again soon. Awesome customer service above and beyond 3-year warranty. We love our Flexsteel, motorized, loveseat bought at Mum's. Darn thing stopped working and Mum's ordered the parts and got them to us FREE...out of warranty. I have to give him one star otherwise I would give it no stars. We just left the place and picked out two pieces of furniture that my parents wanted. The owner was there. His name is Mugo. We asked him the typical, "give us an offer we can't refuse" and he came back with 10% off! He has to pay his sales person at least that just right off the top and since there was no sales person, he was saving it... come on, we weren't born yesterday.... So I asked him what the interior designer discount is and he flies off the handle telling me about how he has two boys at home and he's here working the day after Christmas, etc. etc. I've heard it all before, but he was SO angry and we couldn't figure out why! Then, we ask him to match a lower price and he goes and looks at his books and doesn't match it and asks me if he can ask me a question.... sure..... and asks if I work at the Design Center in San Francisco (since I told him I lived in that area) and then starts yelling at me and telling me that we are making a HUGE mistake and tells me I don't know what I'm talking about, etc. etc. No, Mugo... we're not making a mistake... because we are NOT spending money in your shop so I would say that the mistake was yours in insulting your clients and yelling right off the bat! It's really sad because I am a HUGE proponent of shopping local.. We support the local CSAs and shop at mom and pops... but I have NEVER met a store owner who is so rude! So sorry, Mum's, but my "mum" would NEVER treat people the way you treated us. read more

We had looked several places for furniture that pleased both my husband and I and it wasn't until we found Mum's that we were able to actually invest our funds in a beautiful coffee table and three side tables (with custom measurements). Mum's does not have your standard, cookie-cutter designs that you find at the popular furniture stores. We love the tables we found as they are very unique and came in a variety of colors. The quality is superb, the price was appropriate and the selection that we found was plentiful. But what really sold us on Mum's, and why am leaving this review, is that our new furniture arrived and failed to match our 'really big' TV stand. (I loved this TV stand, it too was a unique piece of furniture.) So I sent a picture of it to Mum's, and they were able to get the manufacturer to use the same material as our new tables and duplicate my TV stand. read more

Purchased 4 chairs here less than a year ago. They were originally priced at $4000 and got them on sale for $2000. That is still a LOT to pay for 4 chairs. However, within 3 months, we noticed that the method of support to the seat was weak (just elastic bands), it actually ripped the bottom liners of the chairs. I've contacted the store 6 times and can not get a single reply. Now these chairs are so uncomfortable to sit on as the seat goes to low and the frame around it causes discomfort to the backs of our legs. These chairs say Made in China on the bottom, which I didn't notice when I first looked at them. I thought they offered just high end furniture and I expect that they would make good on their products that they sell when issues arise. Not just ignore the customer. read more

I was concerned about a very small imperfection in one of the items I was considering buying, and they took the time to buff it out and ensure it was absolutely perfect upon delivery. We love Mum's Place. When we bought our home in Pacific Grove, my wife wanted to set it up as our weekend/vacation home, and leave our current furnishings in our weekday home. Like a lot of other folks, we brought in what we could spare and found some old stuff around relative's houses and remained sparsely furnished while we looked around thrift shops and furniture stores in the area. We were unable to find pieces we were interested in in the thrift stores and were not happy with the prices and selection in other retail stores. Then we found Mum's. While we did find some seatings in another store in Gilroy we had dealt with before, we found Mum's had a great selection, attractive pieces and fair prices compared to what we had seen. They were the ideal candidate to help us finish decorating our home just right. We used Mum's for all of our coffee and end tables, Master bedroom and Guest room in our two bedroom home. We had a lot of personal attention from Mugo, who was agreeable to dropping by the house and coming up with some recommendations for our decorating needs. We were happy with our purchase, and continued to use Mum's as a first resort for small details we wished to enhance. After more than 20 years and now living full-time in our little home, we decided to remodel. Near the end of the remodel, the decision was made to totally redecorate the house with new furnishings, so back to Mugo and Mum's where we received excellent service, delivery and setup and were gladly given a great price on our furniture just like the first time. The delivery and setup was performed by a couple of great guys and they were very willing to help out by reshuffling the contents of the home as pieces showed up (due to Covid there was a substantial delay and multiple deliveries) and also performed tasks like helping me to disconnect and reconnect all of the TV boxes when the entertainment center arrived so that we wouldn't be inconvenienced by excessive down time. As always outstanding services, great selection of pieces, fabrics and finishes, high quality and all at reasonable prices. We are 100% satisfied and will continue to support Mum's if anything else is needed in the future. read more

To be fair, I purchased our living room set 3 years ago and the customer service was pretty good. Recently though I called to inquire about obtaining fabric for the making of arm covers and was told, " The fabric is still around, we will check on the inventory and call you back.". After 3 weeks I called them again and they stated that they were very busy and would call soon. That was almost 2 months ago. It is what it is, but I guess that the customer service is proportional to what you're buying or how much you're spending. read more
