Mundy's Collision Center - Body Shops Near Me - Lawrenceville, Georgia

I was involved in an incident on October 26, 2024. After a few attempts to use a preferred partner shop of Auto Owners, I was forced to select a shop of my own. I chose Mundy's Collision in Lawrenceville, GA. The initial "parking lot estimate" was done by their employee, Pam. This estimate was for replacement of the driver's quarter panel for $7,200. At this point, I submitted my vehicle for repairs under the premise that they would work with Auto Owners to indemnify me to my pre-accident condition. Shortly afterwards I received a call that repair of the quarter panel was possible instead of replacement and that a supplement payment of $3600 would be sent, in addition to the initial $1400 photo estimate from Auto Owners. I thought the supplement was excessive, but they already had my car and I had no other option but to proceed with this shop. I began to receive updates from the shop about the progress on my vehicle throughout the following weeks. It was there for a little over three weeks. I was given a call on 2/28 that the vehicle was ready at a total of $5018 that was due by me. I took an uber to the shop to pick it up because their employee, Dylan, assured me it had been calibrated and tested and was ready to go. I immediately noticed that it was obvious the vehicle had been in an accident and been repaired. You can see the paint doesn't match correctly and there is more metallic sparkle in the quarter and certainly not worthy of the $5,000 price tag. Michael came outside to deal with my feedback and became defensive when I expressed that I did not see the 55 hours put into the repair. I decided to move on from the situation and pay the balance due. Inside the office, Michael says "I don't why you are upset, it's not like this is out of your pocket". I was outraged and was expecting quality and accurate hours spent on the repair, regardless of who paid for it. As soon as I attempted to drive off, suddenly 2 brake lamp warning lights went off. This was after I was charged for over $650 for vehicle inspection. Dylan arranged an Uber for me to go back home for work, which I appreciated it. Coincidentally, the Uber driver said she had a similar experience of Mundy's inflating invoices. I returned to the shop before closing with my counterpart for support because I felt I was being bullied. Ivis (original service writer) came out to deal with me and admitted to manipulating the invoice so the car wouldn't be "totaled." At this point, a man came out and told us to come inside, who later said his name was Dustin (assuming manager). Ivis and Dustin stated they had "moved funds around" to get the insurance company to pay for the necessary work. Then they tried to justify their fraudulent activities by saying they saved my car from being totaled. In actuality all they did was fluff the invoice and did not even fix the car properly. Dustin was condescending towards me and repeatedly asked if I am in the body shop business. Finally he asked what he can do to make it right. I replied that I want a corrected line by line invoice of the work that was actually done, including the actual labor. There is no way this repair took 55 hours. I asked if the labor cost would be refunded and He said absolutely not. In the lobby, Dustin became more aggressive and was very close to my body, telling me take my keys and leave after asking me if I had "checked out." Mundy's Collison never provided me with an itemized list or had me sign off on their additional repairs for the supplement. The final invoice has so much work that was not necessary or even done. I can pinpoint each item. A search of Google reviews shows that this is a common practice with this shop. Countless tales of unnecessary repairs being written up and work not being done properly are there out there. On the following Monday, I was give a refund check of $318. Upon checking another revised, edited invoice, the service writer added details of the shop "discounting" their rates and adding the repaired brake lamp to make it look like they had lower their costs to fit the final bill of $5108. read more

To my knowledge, this shop isn't approved by any major insurance company. This means the insurance company won't accept responsibility for excessive or unnecessary charges. If you use this shop, you're on your own, and there are two important things you need to know. First, you will be required to sign a service agreement saying you're responsible for expenses not paid by the insurance company, and second, they DO NOT get their work pre-approved by the insurance company. The cost to repair my car was $2,938.12. To this, they added unapproved and inflated charges of $1,446.50 for inspections, mostly for the steering column, which makes no sense for a car that was struck in the rear. They never informed me or the insurance company of their intent to perform these inspections and demanded payment after completion. The claims adjuster told me that their appraiser, who's done this for many years, had never heard of a steering-column inspection for a vehicle struck in the rear, and the charges were well above industry standards. To no one's surprise, the steering-column inspection didn't reveal any damage. The insurance company made every reasonable effort to get them to either waive or reduce the charges, and they refused. The insurance company agreed to pay a portion of the inspection fees, but I was still stuck with a bill for $723.55 for repairs that resulted from an accident that wasn't my fault. Beware! This company pads their bill, attempts to force the charges on the insurance company, and then sticks you with them if the insurance company refuses to pay. read more

First off I would like to say that Dustin Davis the general manager at Mundys should not handle any calls, customer service, or talk to people at all, my insurance agent and I called earlier to ask about the status of the claim and simply find out what is going on. Mind you we are both women Dustin was very RUDE and at one point told my insurance agent that she needed to educate herself, he also went on to tell us to calm down and simply be quiet and NOT speak while he is speaking, all of this just for asking about the status of our car and how we can resolve the issue. He also did not know that the client was present on the phone and insisted that this was all the insurance doing even though the insurance had already paid them for the services and blaimed Hyundai and the insurance. He claimed that Hyundai sent 3 defective doors but was also being rude and made comments like do you want me to go ahead and made the doors in my garage. This is the worst shop, I would not recommend going here and worst of all having to deal with people like Dustin Davis. If this company had the audacity to promote someone like Dustin to a leadership role like General manager I wouldn't trust their judgment on other things like car repair. I would take caution when looking at the positive reviews as these ARE all paid for by the shop. Please take your time and read over the BBB and find out just how awful these people are. W said, it's doesn't matter if the car just need a headlight, they gonna work everything in your car except what actually needs work, they don't call for authorization or anything. they just trying to get as much money from you as possible. MAN , shoutout to the beautiful ladies up front who were warm welcoming when I came in. Played a little joke on me to lighten up the mood. And one of your younger gentlemen, came out and pulled the dent right out with a little tool ( shopping cart hit my side fender and dented it...passenger side door WOULDNT OPEN ) and did FREE of charge even though I was offering him something for doing it. Great customer service, highly recommend them . He saved me from calling my insurance and paying near to 3k-5k worth of damages. Would of had to replace the whole fender on a Mercedes Benz. We were told by our insurance company that if we used one of their authorized repair companies that they we wouldn't need an adjuster. After doing our research, I am so glad we didn't go with the insurance recommended centers. First, the level of interest in the customer needs is evident from the first contact. With the insurance paying the bill, you would think the collision center would treat them more as the customer. Not at Mundy's, you are first and foremost their customer. Secondly, Pam at the front was professional, knowledgeable, and did everything she said she would. They communicated throughout the process, they went to bat for me when the adjuster and insurance company wasn't cooperating. Their focus was on the correct repair and safety of the vehicle I received back. They went the extra mile and got all items repaired. I felt like my car was better than before the accident. My 2013 Ford Explorer Ltd was leaking water into the interior from the roof. My glasses holder and 3rd row seats were soaking wet every time it rained. I had had it into the Ford dealership several times and they were telling me about having to take the whole roof rack system apart, put it back on, repaint, etc. I felt like I needed a second opinion. Jason Mundy took a look at it and found a few of the drain lines that were clogged around the sunroof and showed me how water was getting backed up and spilling over into my interior portions of the car. I was in and out in under an hour. The shop is beautiful and CLEAN (clean and automotive industry don't typically go hand in hand, but in this case, they absolutely do). I cannot recommend this family owned business enough. Jason and his lovely wife Pam opened the business a few years ago to provide the level of service you'd expect. He grew in this town and wanted to give back and it shows. They worked with me to get the price in my budget (no insurance), communicated the entire time while repair was in process, then were helpful when I needed advice later on with another issue. Had a bumper accident, had to go thru insurance. Jason, Pam, and Layla were so nice to me. I have had work done before for small minor dents, and always fair price, and great work. This time I needed a whole new front bumper, and the price was very reasonable. I was treated again very nicely. They listen to my requests, and did a wonderful job replacing the whole bumper with grille, and matching color. It looked brand new. if i could rate this collision 0 stars i would, it's actually hilarious the way they run their business. their only concern is money they have zero sympathy and hold no value for their customers. it took them almost 5 months to fix my car and the only thing that was wrong with it was rear suspension, and at that they didn't even fix it they took multiple checks from insurance that were not needed and ended up sending the car to the original dealership to get it fixed. this business is a horrific comedy. also i still ended getting my car back with mission pieces/parts the car was barely even put back together. read more
