9.27.25 I had been wanting to try this restaurant, but I was hesitant because parking is always a challenge for me--I can't parallel park to save my life. On top of that, I'm geographically challenged, so even if I found a parking lot, I'd likely get lost trying to walk back. Thankfully, I asked my husband to take me, and he managed to find street parking close by. Being the foodie that I am, I had already browsed the menu beforehand and knew exactly what I wanted. We arrived right when they opened for dinner at 5 PM on a Saturday. The restaurant itself is quite small. My husband counted about nine tables--some seating two, others four. There are also four seats at the bar and a few tables outside on the patio. From the happy hour menu, I ordered fern cakes, a fried pork bun, fried chicken, and steamed banana cake for dessert. My husband chose a small beef pho, the passionfruit iced tea, and pandan ice cream for dessert. I enjoyed everything except the fried pork bun. Typically, Vietnamese pork buns are steamed, but this one was fried, resembling the Chinese version instead. If it was intended to mimic the Chinese style, I would have preferred it to be sweeter. My favorite dish by far was the fern cake. The prices are on the higher side, especially considering the portions are fairly small. That said, I'd rather pay more for delicious food than have larger portions of something mediocre. I also appreciated that they sell pre-packaged sauces, noodles, chips, and even Sriracha chocolate bars, along with prepared foods like fish sauce, pickled carrot/daikon, and peanut sauce. They also offer fun merchandise such as a Vietnamese book, tea towels, tote bags, and T-shirts. Overall, my husband and I really enjoyed the food. However, since the restaurant is a bit out of the way for us, we probably wouldn't make a special trip unless we happened to already be in the area.

I really liked the vibe here! It was really nice & I liked the little snacks & trinkets sold at the front - very cute touch. I got the banh beo, vegan pho, & banh chuối with my friend. I liked the appetizer & dessert but the vegan pho broth was on the saltier side. Still probably one of the best vegan broths I've had but I wish there was more broth & more of the vegan beef. I would go again to try more things on the menu though!

Very cute little restaurant. Recommended 100% best foods in Takoma Park town, MD. Will come back next time in town. Service are great.

Had a fantastic dinner for the four of us on their Sunday noodle night menu this evening! Highly recommend the grilled chicken bún, the vegan cha gio, & the muǒi tièu fries. The service, the atmosphere & the food was all phenomenal! Highly recommend & wish we lived closer because we would absolutely regularly eat here!! Best Vietnamese food we've had in the states in ages!

The restaurant seemed inviting from the moment I walked in. I sat at the bar, which sometimes means slow/inattentive service, but this was not the case here! Everyone was friendly and consistently checked in to make sure my experience was positive. I ordered the vegan egg rolls, which were fresh and flavorful. I loved the dipping sauce as well. The bronzino was cooked to perfection! Perfectly crispy on the outside and flaky in the middle. My only complaint is that the portion was pretty small. I also tried the flan, which was faint in flavor, but I still enjoyed it. I am already looking forward to going back and trying other things!

I hope Muoi Tieu stays on Carroll Avenue for a long time. They took over Mark's Kitchen's old space. It's excellent. I love their vegan pho, branzino, and the selection of wine is decent. 9/10

Enjoyed my dinner here. I was sad to learn they don't do banh mi for dinner and only have beef pho a couple days a week (Thursday and Sunday I believe). We came on a Monday night bc we were in the neighborhood. We didn't have a reservation and were told it would likely be an hour wait but it only ended up being about 20 minutes. I opted for the braised pork belly at our waiter's recommendation and it was very tasty. I also really loved the fried egg rolls. We were charged for someone else's drinks... they fixed it when we pointed it out but double check your receipt when you leave

A couple of friends and I came to this place because we were in the neighborhood so I decided to try this place because I wanted some pho. Unfortunately they were very busy and so they told us to come back in an hour so we went next door to get appetizers. Shortly after sitting down at the other restaurant, they called us and told us to come back. I was a little confused on why the beef pho was not available during this time, they only said they had chicken or vegan available. I was so looking forward for a hearty soup on this cold winter night. We ordered the following below: -goi cuon - I thought this was pretty good and fresh and very tasty and there was something inside that was different which was jicama which I got was delicious. - lemon grass chicken - I thought it was pretty good and nice and grilled and moist. I do feel that the prices are a little higher than other places. I would have thought this dish would be a little less. - braised pork belly - The waiter raved about this two people in my party ordered this. I would say that I wish it was a little warmer when served and it was okay. Overall, I would say the food is good but I feel like the prices are a little bit high compared to other restaurants I've frequented. There's parking on the street with the meter so you can easily find a spot along the street.

Micro Review Visited the restaurant on a stormy Sunday. Plenty of parking on street or paid lots. Definitely worth a visit to Takoma Park. Foods fresh and they sell snacks and delicacies. Try the chili crisp with any dish. The hot tea and Vietnamese Coffees are perfect to awaken you, especially mid-day. Restaurant has indoor seating and some seating at the bar. All staff were kind and helped explain menu. We LOVED the fried chicken and beef noodle soup

Updating to 5 stars based on a recent visit. Great food, great service, and great atmosphere. The owner, Thuy Tu, was really nice and took time to share her philosophy on cooking, her menu, and on life. She's also a _______ Starwars fan . See if you can find all the homage to Starwars hidden all over her restaurant. Hint: Be sure to look up!

Muoi Tieu--salt & pepper--is one of the first in the DMV serving traditional Vietnamese fare, that isn't pho (though they have one chicken pho), or some fusion thing. In particular, (as certainly Viet customers will attest to) the Thit Kho and the Banh Xeo -- are two family staples in every Viet family, where each has their distinct version. Muoi Tieu's thit kho trung was pretty good-- some sway towards the sweeter or salt (like mine), but theirs is somewhere in the middle (I couldn't tell if there was any nuoc mam used; if they do at all, it's very light use). Overall, a great addition to the TP Hood

Amazing local Vietnamese spot in Takoma Park. The service and food were amazing!! Everything madr fresh in their open concept kitchen. Cute decor inside with some Vietnamese products at the front of the restaurant. Definitely worth checking out!!!

We tried: Gorditas, 5/5-it's reminiscent of Indian potato patties aka aloo tikki but with corn textures and undertones. Savory Waffles, 5/5-even if you've had chicken and waffles, this one is like an illusion item, you expect certain flavors and textures but encounter something entirely different in a good way. Papas con rajas taco, 5/5-the salsa macha elevates the fried potatoes and poblanos. Drunken mushroom taco, 4/5-dont get me wrong, its a great taco but you get something similar at Taco Bamba, Mi Vida and so on and by this point we were expecting unusual flavors and perfection from Cielo Rojo. Nopales taco, 5/5-by far the best, most delicate and fresh nopales we've had in the area, not slimy. Que Carajo cocktail should move to the brunch cocktail menu for good reason. Licor 43, cold brew, and carajillo are a win win at that time of the day. Tres Leches is another 6/5, a winner with that delightfully slight after taste or maybe fragrance of rose. We wanted to try the Flautas which had the can be made vegetarian/vegan symbol against it but were told that was a mistake and the dish couldn't be made without duck. Not sure if this is true only during brunch since some reviewers do mention the dinner menu having more vegan/vegetarian options. In either case, we'd love to return for brunch and try the dinner menu. These guys have something special on their hands.

I stopped by this location in Silver Spring - it's located inside the Whole Foods - before a movie last week. Since it was my first time at PLNT, I ordered something traditional - the PLNT Cheeseburger (plant-based patty, caramelized onion, pickles, plant-based American cheese, green leaf lettuce, roma tomato, PLNT sauce, and potato bun). As a very failed former vegan (10 years as a vegetarian and vegan in my late teens to twenties), I was most worried about the vegan cheese (I remember having some pretty awful vegan cheeses in those days). The cheese was fine actually. The burger itself is okay; it kind of tastes like TVP (textured vegetable protein), a little dry, not too flavorful. But my real issue with the burger was its assembly - it was so covered in sauce and gooey cheese that the bun was sliding off before I even tried to pick it up. It was one of the messiest things I've ever tried to eat. And that's what I'll remember about my first PLNT Burger experience - not the flavor, but definitely the messiness of it. It was fast, which is great if you need a quick meal. And since it's in the food court area of Whole Foods, you can also grab other things while you're waiting for your meal or after. If you're vegan or vegetarian, this PLNT Burger might be a godsend and you might love it! Too messy for me!

We sent everything back and waited another 25 minutes, but the replacement order never came, so our party of four ultimately decided to leave. For reference, our order was fairly simple: four orders of happy hour shrimp, two orders of wings, three orders of brussel sprouts, and one caesar salad--which, surprisingly, the salad never made it to the table at all. Our server was wonderful and very apologetic throughout the evening, so this review is not directed at the waitstaff. My disappointment was mainly with the manager's response. While he did come over to our table, he seemed very nonchalant about the situation. When we asked about the delay, he simply said, "It's busy," and even mentioned, "Yes, I saw all of the plates go back." The restaurant was not at full capacity, and there was very little communication or sense of urgency to make things right. I appreciate that the manager removed the food from the bill, and because I've had better experiences with Busboys and Poets in the past, I will return. However, I felt compelled to leave this review as a caution for anyone visiting the Takoma location. Better communication and a more attentive response from management would have gone a long way.
