The delivery took forever (an hour and half just to confirm the order). The food tasted good but not great. The pav bhaji was too soup-like and not the right consistency. That's not how to make pav bhaji. You should still be able to experience the various textures of peas, potatoes, and other ingredients. It also wasn't as flavorful and spicy as I expected. The chickpea curry was also just good but not amazing. I would probably order different dishes if I were to reorder from this restaurant. I come here at least once a week and it's so good. I live in Baltimore and my girlfriend lives here in Silver Spring and other than seeing her I always very much look forward to eating at Indian express it is the greatest Indian food around here and they don't get that much business. Hmm...mixed thoughts on this place. My daughter wasn't feeling well and wanted soup and this place showed plenty of options. I stopped to place an order for carry out and was a little suspect when there was no one in the place (Sat night) and the employees were actually eating dinner. They jumped up to take my order right away. The Woon Sen Soup ($6) was her preference and she ended up really enjoying it - which was great. We decided to order Veggie Spring Rolls ($5) to start and they were pretty well burnt. I decided to go with the Geang Kiew Wan ($12) and while it was okay - it really was more of a soup vs an entree. Came here twice when I was home last month. The first time I tried drunken noodles and a crispy duck dish. The drunken noodles had a great taste/flavor to it but the beef quality is pretty poor. I'd rather them charge a little more for better meat. The duck dish had a wonderful sauce to it but I didn't think it went so well with the duck. The broccoli, cabbage and carrots didn't add much to the plate either. My second visit consisted of the chiang mai noodles and a crispy pork pad krapow. I also was able to try some of the boat noodles. The chiang mai noodles and boat noodles both had wonderful broths. Perfect for me but I would guess that it's too salty for most people, so you may want to ask them to lighten up on the sodium for your bowl. Same thing applies here as in my first visit-- I wish they'd charge me a little extra for better quality meat. The pad krapow had a wonderful sauce to it and the pork was very wonderfully crisped. I'm not a thai cuisine expert but I would have preferred a lot more basil and for the green beans to be cooked until soft. Thai ice tea here is wonderful and the staff was great. I can't believe growing up in this area I haven't been to this restaurant. It's on Fern St next to an Asian grocery. Free parking, yes free! Amazing for this area of downtown Wheaton. It's a small local place, very clean and family owned. Our server was really friendly and was super attentive. We ordered appetizers and a couple entrees. Dumplings were very good. Fried dumpling different but good. Panang was very flavorful and a good amount of chicken. I sometimes like my sauce a little less thin. Spice was medium which I think is perfect. Eggplant with Pork was simply exceptional. Perfectly cooked eggplant was a touch sweet, extra onions and pork thin and flavorful. Overall a very good meal and took some home to enjoy for lunch! My hubby and I tried this place for the first time yesterday and loved it! It is tucked away, next to a grocery store and parking was convenient. They have a great menu which made it hard to pick but we opted out with some Thai food that we were more familiar with like pork skewers, Penang curry and pad thai. We got the soft shell crab pad thai and it was sooo good! The crab was super crispy and lightly breaded. Penang curry was good too that we asked to take the leftover sauce home :) The pumpkin empanadas were the ones that left a very good impression to my tummy. It's a really yummy appetizer... try it! HIDDEN GEM! Connected to a grocery store which I didn't check out yet, but will eventually. I ordered for pick up and the expected ready time was so fast. There is a small private parking garage so it's nice you don't have to park on the street. I ordered the chicken drunken noodles and you could customize the spicy level (which I thought was awesome!) I got the medium spicy and thought maybe I should have got spicy because the medium wasn't spicy enough. The drunken noodle here is more dry than saucy (which I actually prefer more). Okay size for the amount. What blew me over was I forgot my credit card when making my purchase and they called me later letting me know that I forgot my card. Really nice to know they went out of their way to let me know that they have my card and that they will keep it safe for me until I retrieve it. I had errands to run and decided to try somewhere new on my way home. Wheaton is home to many Asian restaurants of varying cuisine. I am not very experimental, but I know what I like. I came to this place, because I watched the owner do a cooking demo at the Taste of Wheaton, and because I was long over due for some pad see ew. at lunch it is $7.25, which is pretty much what all Thai places charge; maybe $0.75 cheaper. I have no complaints about the quality of the dish; it was delish. Even my finicky dog ate some Chinese broccoli and tofu from my leftovers! I checked-in w/ my smartphone and got a free Longan ice tea. I don't like regular ice tea, but because it was free I thought I'd give it a try. I liked it! I really liked it! It was sweet and didn't taste like black tea. I will get one again on my next visit. They have a very extensive menu for such a small place. It's not super tiny, and it is easy to dine here and park on a weekday afternoon. The tiny lot has signs that warn it is for the Asian grocery store in front. I parked at a metered spot directly in front. No problem. This place is definitely a hidden gem. Located on a side street off of University Blvd in Wheaton, this Thai place looked tiny from the outside and it was walking distance from another Thai restaurant on the same street. I came here on a Sunday for lunch around noon. When I initially arrived, there were maybe about 8 people in the restaurant. I am glad I arrived at the time I did because within an hour later, the restaurant was full. As I glanced at the menu, I checked in and got some Longan Iced Tea. I had initially had a taste of this drink from a friend at a recent event and so I had an idea of what it tasted like - I knew it was a little sweet and I knew I enjoyed the taste of it. It came with a spoon in it, however I did not mix it...I just drank it as it was served. I wanted to try an appetizer and so from some of the choices, I saw: Blanket Shrimp, Thai Wings and Shrimp Dumpling. The Shrimp Dumplings seemed more appealing so I went for that. For $5.99, it was a mixture of shrimp, ground chicken, pork & water chestnut wrapped in wonton skin served w/homemade spicy soy sauce. It definitely lived up to the first two words listed on the menu for this appetizer - Yummy and Tasty. For someone that does not like spicy anything, I was able to handle the sauce. Now since I was here during the lunch period, I thought I could purchase an entrée at the lunch price of $7.75. I was told by the waitress that the lunch prices are only good on the weekdays. That is good to know for the next time I visit. Anyways, I decided to get the Pad Preaw Wan for $9.75. It was a stir fry with choice of meat, pineapple, cucumber, tomato, jalapeno, red bell pepper and scallion in house sweet and sour sauce. I decided to get it with Salmon and a bowl of steamed Jasmine rice. This was my first time getting salmon in a Thai dish, but it was quite delicious. I have to add that the menu pricing seemed a bit confusing for the Main Dish choice. It was like add $1 if you get brown rice; $1 if you get shrimp; $2 if you get a meat combination of chicken, pork, beef or tofu; $2 crispy pork; $3 for a seafood combination; $3 for Duck and $3 for Salmon. If you are penny pinching, you would be lost. However I was not as I was in it for the taste of the food, not the cost. I will be back to check this place out again as I did not get a chance to check out any of their desserts as I was full off of their delicious meals. read more

Dish looks similar to pho but different flavor - my sister said she'd get it again. BANGKOK NOODLES - $8.25 Pretty good but I'd probably get something else next time. Stir-fried egg noodles in light soy sauce w/ carrots, napa cabbage, broccoli, young baby corn (missing), mushrooms (also missing), scallions and topped w/ shrimp and crabmeat (also missing) omelette. Our server said this was a popular dish. First few bites were good but got boring later. I think I'm just not a fan of egg noodles (reminds me of ramen noodles). THAI ICED TEA - $2 Very good. We did try to get the Longan Iced Tea that's free with Yelp check-in but it wasn't available. Overall great Thai food. Next time I'd like to try the Pad Kaprow which our server said is her favorite among the stir-fry options. FYI - free parking, and restaurant is located very close to the other Thai restaurant. This is my first and last time walking in this establishment. I was not properly greeted. Some guy yelled, "picking up!?" I told him I wanted to see the menu and have service. He said there was no service in the store. You're supposed to order and eat at a nearby table. I was fine with that! I tried to get some recommendations from the employee. Since it's my first time, I wanted to try something wonderful. The employee was of no help. I decided to start with the shrimp spring roll. Major mistake. There's literally no shrimp inside. Just fried wonton paper. I decided not to order anymore food from the simple app I ordered and I left. I wish I saved the picture of the appetizer. I have to resort back to my 1 star review as I was disappointed to find out that 1) they fraudulently doubled their tip amount as evidenced on my bank statement and 2) they severely limited the portions, perhaps both of these occurring as a result of the pandemic slowing their business. This is a good addition to Wheaton's already-pretty-awesome ethnic food scene. I've ordered from them several times now - both delivery and takeout - and have been impressed by most of what I've gotten. The dinner specials are really great for both flavor and value, and they change monthly, which is awesome. In April, I tried the kai pad ped (chicken and bamboo shoot in red curry), and in May got the pork stir fried with green bean in red curry coconut sauce. The lunch/dinner specials are great - a salad with tasty dressing, spring rolls, a choice of soda, and an entree. I've also gotten some of the entrees off the regular menu. I was actually disappointed in the shrimp paste fried rice, which I was hoping would be more pungent and funky. Instead, it was tasty but not super umami, which I had been hoping for. The panang curry is great, and the pad haeng (flat noodles with preserved cabbage, egg, and scallion) was really good too. It comes with a choice of meat - try the pork! It was perfectly done. It's not an easy time, and their food and service is just as impeccable as always. When I get takeout, I can keep well over 6' away from the staff and anyone in the store, and there's lots of space. Tucked away behind an Asian market, hidden in an out of the way side road in Wheaton, MD, is some of the best Thai food I've had in a very long time. It is served in a sparsely decorated but happy room, and the colorful chopsticks make me smile every time I visit. Thai Taste by Kob specializes in home recipes and street cooking. This is not the place to head for elegance and refined dining. This is instead where you go when you need your taste buds to remember that they exist. My policy is to always order the item on the menu that I have not yet tried, and this menu gives me plenty of options. The staff is approachable when it comes to advice, but be ready to defend your choice if you pick something unusual. It took a few visits before they would honor our request for the highest spice levels, and I'm determined to get them to add more than a dollop the next time I order the shrimp paste fried rice. Come with adventurous friends, and know that the chef does a good job with the standards as well, just in case you must also have Pad Thai. Also know that this is one of the rare Thai restaurants that don't add massive amounts of sugar to their dishes, so the pungent flavors will linger and the iced tea won't save you. The shrimp was good but the chicken tasted like it was thrown into the curry at the last minute and didn't have time to marinate. I also ordered the Mango & Sticky Rice and it had coconut shavings. I got the Maryland rice and the crab was overcooked.... Not worth the $20 especially since I could see the seasonings sitting on top of the rice in the center. The flavor wasn't consistent throughout the rice. It would've been better if the seasoning had been mixed in completely by the cook and the crab added at the very end as to not overcook it. Thai Taste by Kob also knows as Thai Taste Express is a hidden gen in the heart of Wheaton downtown area. I would not have even known this restaurant exists if they did not participate in the Montgomery County Restaurant Week running from April 23rd through May 3rd. Since I am on a low-fat, heart healthy diet, I ordered the Papaya Salad and Larb Gai and both were plenty in quantity, fresh, not too much fish sauce and very tasty. The peanuts in the papaya salad could have been a tad crunchier or slightly more toasted. The two butterflied shrimp in the salad were grilled just right and big! The minced chicken in the Larb Gai was plentiful, full of flavor and not too much rice powder if any. The free Mango with sticky rice (Restaurant Week coupon via App) was perfect, large portion, had enough sweet mango, a dash of coconut cream and toasted coconut flakes. I liked the simply done setup, highly clean and sanitized food stations and the modern yet green Thai interior decor. Included pictures of all.
