I'm a 29yo, 5'7" male and pretty skinny, so even slim fit clothes are often a little baggy. After a particularly frustrating shopping trip I ended up searching on yelp and found Joanne. After discussing my needs, I decided to bring Joanne several pairs of pants and shirts for alterations, which she had done in no time. I like to dress nice for work, and I know I'm going to look so much better with well fitting clothes. It was also extremely convenient because we live right around the corner from each other! I am absolutely floored by the quality of the alterations done to my dress. What started as a $100…read moredress needing a relatively simple repair is now essentially unwearable. The first time I picked it up, they had replaced the O-ring on one adjustable strap with a clear plastic piece, while the original hardware on the other strap was clearly metal. They also used fabric from the built-in shorts to repair the strap, leaving the shorts poorly repaired with an extremely thin line of stitching that did not look like it would hold up at all. I brought the dress back and specifically asked them to correct both issues. After receiving a notification on Wednesday that my dress was completed, I went back Friday to pick it up. The safety pin was STILL in the shorts where I had asked them to repair it, so that issue clearly had not even been addressed. On top of that, they had now replaced the hardware on BOTH straps with two different metal pieces, and the pieces they used were already pulling apart. To make matters worse, my dress now has stains on it that were not there when I dropped it off. The entire reason I brought this dress to a professional tailor was because it was expensive and I wanted the repair done correctly. At this point, I genuinely feel like I could have done a better job myself. After 4 1/2+ weeks, multiple trips, and giving them the opportunity to correct the original work, I am leaving with my dress in worse condition than when I brought it in and now unable to wear it. I understand businesses get busy, but if you have more alterations than you can properly manage, it is okay to tell a customer you cannot take on the job. Taking someone's clothing and returning it damaged and poorly repaired is unacceptable. Unfortunately, I will never bring another item here for tailoring or dry cleaning.

Fast forward to 8:21am, day of, and the office calls to cancel. I've already paid for and sent to the grandsons to a babysitter for the entire 8 hours today, AND it's going to take 7-10 business days to refund my $648 I prepaid for your cleaning service. You've cost me money now. Your customer service was very friendly, but it's nothing when it only adds up to trouble and frustration for the customer you said you'd provide a service to. I cannot speak highly enough of Murat. He is truly an artist. In addition to numerous shirts and pants, he modified for me 6 jackets and 1 winter coat that belonged to my father who passed away more than a decade ago. Murat was able to totally alter these beautiful, heavy woolen jackets to fit me (a younger female with a very different, smaller build than my father's) as though they had been originally made for me. It was a remarkable transformation, and I'm so grateful that Murat was able to accomplish what seemed impossible. The cost was also incredibly fair, given the massive effort required. Murat is as good as tailors in NYC and Chicago. He's altered a ton of suits and sport coats for me over the past few years, and has repaired a bunch of clothing for my wife, my son, and I, including a suit jacket that a nail left a two inch rip through - after he repaired it I couldn't even tell where the rip was. I feel genuinely lucky to have Murat's Tailoring here in Geneva and recommend him without reservation. On top of being a superb tailor, he's a super nice and generous person. read more

I was in a pinch to get my Bridesmaid dress taken in an inch or two. I took it in the morning and asked if he was able to get it done that day and the gentlemen was more than happy to help me even though he was a little busy. I got it back before closing and it was perfect! Definitely will be going back!. read more
