In my opinion Murphy's has the best food in town. I've tried countless restaurants in Corvallis and there isn't one place that serves better food. Their consistency with friendly service and awesome food every time keeps me going back over and over. If you've never before tried Murphy's I would encourage you to go on a Friday or Saturday night when they have the Prime Rib. The best in town by far! First of all, this is not an Irish theme place at all, so get that completely out of your brain. Second, the food is okay, but stay to the lower end of prices so that you are not disappointed. You know, wings, fish and chips, that kind of stuff. Third, they'll present the check, you hand 'em your credit card, and when the receipt comes back to sign it is for a larger amount. Try to get them to give you a logical explanation . . . forget about it. Ask why they don't disclose earlier, they say there is a sign on the door and they walk away. One of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. I brought my family of five there to have burgers. I ordered a Breakside IPA and my wife ordered a Phriem IPA. The Breakside was so flat and gross that i had to send it back. It's one of my favorite beers and I had it there a year ago pre lockdown and it was good. this tasted like they had poured it 4 days ago and put it in the refrigerator. I asked the waitress if she thought it would be the same if they poured another and she said it was probably the keg so yeah and suggested I get something else. I honestly think it may have been the same keg I had drinken off of a year ago before the lockdowns. I ordered the Phriem and it was fine, had carbonation and everything - still not sure why one beer would have carbonation and another beer poured from the same tap system would not-maybe it really was in the fridge for three days. So we ordered our burgers everyone else ordered pretty normal burgers but I ordered my burger plain and dry. The thing about me is I don't eat mayonnaise. I'm not allergic or anything I just have never eaten it because the thought of that white spooey on my food makes me nauseous. Its like a mental block or something I will never eat mayo. so I very specifically told the waitress that I wanted the western cheeseburger plain and dry. I don't want any lettuce, tomato pickles mayo or anything just the meat and cheese. Bun bacon cheese patty and bbq sauce on the side. My family was even a bit embarrassed at how specifically I explained it to her but I just didn't want them to mess it up because I wont eat mayo and I do not want to deal with sending another thing back. The waitress was good, she the went all around the table and read our orders back to everyone and she had them all correct. Meat cheese bun, bbq sauce on the side. Ok sounds great! we get our food and it looks good, I am hungry. I open the burger and alas it has mayo on it. Bummer this meal is just a bad night for me. The waitress finally came back around to check on us and I told her they put mayo on my burger. At this point I said lets call it a loss and I'll just get nothing, I'll sip my beer while the family eats. I have seen Supertroopers too many times to risk sending it back, "I have an order here, its for a cop!" Plus if the cook was so callous about my order the first time when I know the waitress wrote it down correctly I'm not trusting him to make it a second. "I eat mayo so you have to!" I envision him saying. My family ate their food and it was all fine they enjoyed it well enough. We debated how much to tip the waitress and thought 20% would be fine and when she presented the bill I noticed the western burger that I didn't get was on there. I flagged the waitress and told her that the burger was still on the ticket and to my surprise she said that I needed to take it up with her manager that he forbid her from removing the mayo burger from our bill! To be honest I was shocked. I said well that sucks for you I ordered no mayo and it had mayo?? and I left her the bill minus the burger I didn't get plus 20% tip. I actually regret leaving her the tip because I'm sure Murphy's will take it from her and after thinking about it her response was terrible. She tells me to go take it up with the manager? If there was a problem the manager should have come talked to me and she better have told them how specifically I ordered the burger with no mayo. I own multiple customer service based businesses in Corvallis and my employees would be terminated immediately if they ever treated a customer like that. It has happened and they did get fired. Is it really so much to ask, all I wanted is a beer that didn't taste like it was ladled from a toilet and a burger with no mayo! read more

When they were in south town, they were a go to staple for us. But since they have moved to downtown, I love the setting even better!!! The food here is incredible! I haven't ever had something that I didn't like! The staff and the owners are all wonderful people! One of our all time favorite places to eat! The steaks here are some of the best you'll find as well! Friday and Saturday nights, they even do some massive prime ribs, but get there early because they do sell out! Murphy's gets great ratings from me for the quality of the food. I had the Tuna with cold noodles, which was great; a friend had it too, even though he had ordered the Poke! Service was mediocre; we were a large party, so I expected to wait a long time for our main courses to come out, but there was no need to keep us waiting for water, menus, and to take a drinks order. And there was absolutely no excuse to keep one of our party waiting for 10 minutes after the rest of us had our meals in front of us, going cold. A waitress who was more experienced might have suggested that we order some fast appetizers for the table while we were waiting for the main courses: we would have been happier, and restaurant would have sold more food! However, the thing that really turned the evening from mildly annoying to downright unpleasant was the level of noise inside the restaurant. Most of this was deliberate: the choice of hard surfaces for the decor, coupled with obnoxious thumping music. We could not wait to flee! Fortunately, there was a ice-cream shop nearby for those who wanted desert. My advice: if you want to go to Murphy's, go in a party of six or less, on an evening that's not too hot, and reserve one of the outdoor tables. And check that they would be willing to turn off the outdoor loudspeakers. read more

Just had one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a restaurant. Came to have a nice birthday dinner with my mom and some friends, ended up getting verbally abused by management. We waited over an hour for our dinner of dry burgers, undercooked steak and straight up cold steak. When I asked to speak to the manager he (jeb) came to our table a half hour later. His excuse was that he didn't want to interrupt dinner, we were done when I had asked to speak to him thus why I had asked to speak with him. Then proceeded to speak very condescendingly to my mother, father and myself. I believe that he dismissed the issue of wating an hour for our cold food based on my age and gender. There was a large group 15+ that came in after us but somehow their older got processed before ours then when asked about it we had no answer until everyone at our table was visibly upset. The parting comment of the manager, Jeb was "well that was embarrassing" after a four minute conversation of how unhappy we were. He then also started to try and yell at my mother because she said we'd never be back. All in all service was good, food was good, trying to get answers or help from management was pointless. Having a bill over a hundred dollars you'd expect to be treated just as well as anyone else. Must be nice to be able to abuse customers and get away with it. read more

We went there last night for our anniversary because we both wanted prime rib and they serve it on Friday and Saturday. I had read a lot of bad reviews so I was kind of nervous but we wanted to try a new place. I would say the service was extremely slow. We waited about 15 minutes after we were seated to place our drink order and another 15 to bring it. Then we waited about 45 minutes till our main course arrived. I know these days service is slow but there were plenty of waitresses . Also the place is incredibly loud. The entire time we were there you could hear loud cackling coming from the bar and it was impossible to carry on a conversation without yelling. Ambiance is not a word I would use to describe this place. All that being said the food was excellent. Both our prime ribs were cooked to perfection which is admirable because my husband likes his very well done and he almost always sends it back. We both also had really delicious salads, plus our waitress was very prompt in bringing things we asked for. But between the noise and extremely slow service we most likely won't go back. read more

I will definitely go back! The staff was super friendly and helpful. I wasn't really hungry enough for a full meal so I ordered the crab dip to share. I expected something really rich, cheesy and buttery. Instead i got lemon and horseradish flavors, but very good. My best friend got the Asiago Chicken, it was covered in a really tasty roasted red pepper sauce and came with a delicious deep fried cheesy risotto ball. Her husband got a prime rib dip sandwich, also very good. This place has a neighborhood pub type feel, and I hear they have great prime rib on Friday nights. read more

I just can't do it anymore!?! Second time trying to get a steak here. The first time, we got a steak an hour after the order, but at least the wait staff stopped by and apologized every 15 minutes. This time, OMG, we order steak and an order of onion rings as an appetizer. The rings came out in 15 minutes, but the staff gave them to the wrong table. After 30 minutes, the staff finally realized it, but made us wait another 10 for the rings?!? We just had to leave after an hour of this non-sense. Sorry, Murphy's but we won't be back. read more

Ok, I have been to Murphy's a couple times so I figure it's time for a review. I have lived in Corvallis for 8 months now and have been looking for a place that makes me feel like I am at home. Needless to say I found what I was looking for. I have eaten at most restaurants in Corvallis so when I ate here I honestly wasn't expecting anything special. Wow was I wrong. Their menu here has such a wide variety I couldn't decide what to get so I just told the bar tender to surprise me. He presented me with the Asiago chicken. I have to say this was the best meal I have eaten in Corvallis by far. It consisted of a perfectly cooked chicken breast with crunchy cheese on top and a delicious sauce. I especially loved the side of sauteed summer squash and zucchini. The second time I went was BBQ night. I was so excited when I pulled into the parking lot and saw all of the smoker pits smoking away! These guys are not messing around. I lived in North Carolina for five years so I was sure I would never get some good BBQ around here. Well, I was totally wrong again! I had the trio plate which consisted of ribs biscuit, pork, beans, and corn bread. The bar tender was very impressed with the speed in which i cleaned my plate. What's even cooler about this place is not the food or drinks. It's the staff. They really make the place. Everyone is super friendly and they make everyone feel comfortable. This place is good for folks of all ages. Oh yea, and they have a ton of pool tableS as well as foosball. Go check this place out! There is something for everyone here. First trip to the new location. My elderly mother was visiting from Florida and wanted prime rib. Beef was excellent and the creme brûlée was so amazing. Waiter was attentive but not annoying. The environment was warm and friendly. There was comfortable seating and I did not feel crowded, which is always a plus! I felt comfortable bringing in my family. The service was great. The waiters were super friendly and nice. The food was much better then I had anticipated. I order the special for St. Patrick's day, corned beef and cabbage. It was very delicious! The mashed potatoes were smooth and the hint of garlic was great! Try the strawberry lemonade! My niece couldn't get enough of it. All in all it was a great experience. Met up with some extended family on a friday night. The servers in the bar are some of the nicest people I have ever had as bartenders. They actually take the time to talk to you and help you with any questions and beers you want to try. 5 stars for that. Heard their prime rib was good and it was. I really like the clientele in this establishment....more "pub people" than "meat market" people...if you are picking up what I am putting down here. Corvallis is a college town and it has a large Greek community so it's nice to just go somewhere and ease on into a booth and not feel like you need to keep an eye out for that sorority girl who is chugging pink drinks surrounded by boys with pastel popped collars. Ya know? It's low key and has the friendliest staff ever seen......the man I have experienced the most has the biggest smile and seems to LOVE bringing me another beer. It is a fun place to play pool and just hang. The barbecue is delicious and they have one of my fave beers, Tricerahops. I have also heard good things about Trivia Night but I have yet to go. This kind of food and atmosphere just isn't for me. We came in and it smelled like stale beer and cigarettes even on the restaurant side. Then, we got approached by the waitress saying a guy had won on video poker and wanted to buy a round for the house. I will pay for my own soda, thank you. My son had a big burger that looked very tasty and he enjoyed it. The fries were great. My pulled pork sandwich had big globs of fat in it. The food is probably typically very good, but the "Cheers" setting just isn't appealing to me. read more

They have a nice selection of beers. We have tried to go to trivia night the past but ended up playing pool instead because we couldn't find any seats on that side, not a big deal, it seems to be their biggest night. Its a good location for those of us that live on the south side. My only issues with the place are there isn't a dart board and lack of food options, it wouldn't hurt to have some vegan/vegetarian options. We tried their new location for lunch. My wife had fish and chips and the fish was grossly overcooked, hard and almost burned. She sent it back and the next order was almost as bad. I had a bar be que beef wrap. It was ok. Then we heard a loud arguement in the kitchen, someone was upset about something.We used to enjoy their prime rib. We'll give them another try for dinner, but their fish and chips for lunch was the worst. read more

I feel for the waiter as the place was clearly understaffed and he was running around to get to most of the tables. We missed our appetizer and he brought it along with our food. This is a great spot with good food and great service. We've been enjoying their food for about 15 years (since before they moved to the current location), and were so happy when they reopened.
