If you're visiting Columbia and can eat at only one restaurant, eat here. I've never had anything from the menu that wasn't excellent. If you need a recommendation, start with onion rings, a house salad and the steak sandwich. Save room for the gooey butter cake. read more

Stopped in to eat here while passing through Columbia. It's a nice restaurant with cool jazz vibe going on. The service was a tad bit in the slow side but good besides that. I ate the chicken philly and my wife had the chicken salad. Neither comes with sides so we split an order of fries. The order of fries was huge for only $2 and the fries were great. Both sandwiches were decent but not great by any means. Prices were fair. read more

Murrys used to be reliable for a decent meal. However, our last two visits, during the past 6 weeks, it fell far below par. The pork tenderloin and chicken philly were tasteless. The soup was served tepid. And the appetizer and meals were brought to the table at the same time. We immediately pointed this out to the waitress and had to ask for a to-go box. Also no silverware was brought to the table with the meal. We had to flag down the waitress to get silverware. Three strikes and they are out in our book. read more

I love murry's! I have never had something from here that I didn't love! I have gone here for almost 8 years now and it still exceeeds my expectations. They have live jazz on Saturday nights. I love their onion rings and their eggplant strips are divine! The wait staff is friendly and are more than hhelpfull. All of their food is so flavorful and delicious be sure to stop by and check out their desserts! Their menu changes everyday. Great expirience. read more

Murry's- In Restaurant VS. Takeout My husband and I have been going to Murry's for the past 10 years and we have always loved it but over the last few years the quality and consistency of the food has gone down hill and we have been going less and less. We have eaten in the Murry's restaurant and gotten takeout equally over the years. Well tonight we got Murry's takeout and when I opened the food I just finally flipped. I love Murry's Dinner Salad with Italian dressing and have eaten it hundreds of times over the years but over the last year almost every time we get takeout my dinner salad is full of rotten lettuce, slimy lettuce, the center of the lettuce stems, and just nasty pieces of lettuce that should have been thrown out. Not only is the lettuce horrible but they do not even fill up the side of salad dressing (not even half way). Murry's would never serve a salad looking like this in the restaurant but they seem to think it is just fine for a takeout order. But I am paying the same price for the salad if I eat it in the restaurant or get it as takeout but apparently Murry's standard for takeout is much lower than what they actually serve in restaurant. To me this says a great deal, it says that if Murry's thinks they can get away with serving sub-par foods to its takeout customers then they do not care about their standards at all. I also ordered a grilled chicken breast sandwich which was overcooked. My husband got the chicken philly sandwich and we are pretty sure his chicken was days old, not only was it overcooked it was so tough and dry he could not even eat it. I and all takeout customers are being ripped off with old, overcooked, rotten food, but no more as my husband and I have finally decided to never return to Murry's again because of their scamming ways. So next time you think about going to Murry's or getting takeout think again they are just ripping you off as your food will be mostly inedible and Murry's does not care. read more

The food was wonderful, I had the Chicken Salad and my husband loved his steak. We originally went for Fried Oysters, which were OK but nothing impressive. The main reason I'm giving only two stars was because of the service. Our waiter was rude and apathetic to us the entire time, and perhaps it was because we brought our infant daughter but nothing implied that it was not a family restaurant. If it wants to be an "Upper Class" type of restaurant then they should treat other individuals with young children the same and they did us, and perhaps shouldn't have highchairs. Overall, I would not return here because of the uncomfortable atmosphere the staff provided, the inability for them to make separate checks (Seriously?), and the weird looks we received even though our child remained quiet throughout most of the dinner and when she did not we left as soon as we possibly could given that our waiter didn't seem to care about our table. Frog legs, powdered green peppers, and chicken philly cheese steak sandwich. These are just a portion of the menu and i can attest to everything being top notch. The restaurant is usually busy for lunch and dinner so i recommend for a late lunch or early dinner. Do not go during prime times 11:30-1:00 or 5:00-7:00. However you should make time to eat here. read more

My family and I stopped by Murry's to pick up a to-go order at the bar that I called in....I waited at the bar for about 15 minute, watching the bartender (CORY) serve the 2-3 customers that were there while not even acknowledging my presence. Cory Ignored me, and the customer next to me asked for a drink, which he made AND brought out and then got water for the same customer, on his Third trip FINALLY he asked me "what did I want", to which I replied the to-go order that was sitting at the bar (for 15-20 min). Corey, took my card, and brought the bag to me and Dropped it on the bar without checking the order or asking if there was anything else I needed. There were no napkins, flatware or condiments in the bag and I our food was no longer warm. To put it bluntly, CORY'S Attitude and customer service SUCKED! CORY'S Attitude was so HORRIBLE I had to contact the manager (BILL), but of course Corey had already delivered his version of the event to the manager. The manager (Bill) merely gave a half-hearted apology for the bartender, but did absolutely NOTHING to make it right!!!!! Due to my Job I am in Columbia about 4-5 times a month and typically spend approximately $250 - $300 per month at Murry's over the past few years but now I am taking my business elsewhere. Take it from me, Don't get Burned by CORY and BILL, they don't know how to keep good customers! read more

We used to go here, but we no longer do mainly because of the poor conditions outside the restaurant. There is a very loud talking carwash. The planters and grounds all around are filled with weeds and litter like beer cans and wrappers (are there no landscapers or janitors?). The lot has disgusting flotsam build-up on the west side of the lot in a corner up by a sign for apartments. (People live in this hovel?!) I guess the street cleaners or staff of these businesses are unaware to fix this area or do not care? It is also often difficult to find a parking spot, but that is understandable as this a popular venue (for some reason). The problem with this came when we had to park under the trashy canopy at the far back edge of the lot one day because that was all that was available. Next to our spot was a weed and trash littered lot with a creepy shed that hides a giant mound of trash of all kinds stretching about 12 feet. I guess that is where they hide their large trash they don't care to haul away, that will neither fit in the dumpster, that someone does not care to hoist into said dumpster, which in addition (!), is surrounded by so much trash outside of it (broken glass, old bread and other decaying food like old pasta slopped all over) that you would be taking a risk to your car tires to drive past and your shoes and feet to walk (I got a piece of glass that went the whole way through my shoe and scraped my foot.) None of this is acceptable for a public venue such as a restaurant, only a garbage dump, which is particularly disquieting as it can be bad for the appetite before or stomach after. In addition, people are often lounging around smoking and smelly garbage cans and ashtrays are often overflowing. At this point, I would go to a more well-maintained venue to dine, and would prefer one that has better recipes, more attentive and accurate staff. All of these things are simply more than I want to put up with. It is really sad, especially since people are living around this mess and so many people actually think this is fine dining. I hope this review can serve as constructive criticism for this business and they can begin to correct these issues and monitor for continued compliance. read more
