This was my second time at Musaafr, and it honestly reinforced why I wanted to come back in the first place. On my last visit, I had the Lychee Ceviche, Barrah Kebab, Mushroom Khichdi (highly recommend), Dal Musaafar (also a must-order), Laal Maas, Lamb Chop Sulfiyan Biryani, and Brussel Sprouts -- so I already had a strong impression of how layered and ambitious the menu could be coming into this meal. This time around, the experience felt even more intentional -- not just in individual dishes, but in how everything was meant to be combined. The Paani Puri was easily the most fun dish of the night. Each puri came filled with spiced potato and chickpeas, paired with a lineup of flavored waters -- Yogurt Chili, Passion Fruit, Guava, Mango, and Traditional Tamarind. We ended up tasting the waters individually first, then building our own combinations. The tamarind was smoky and nostalgic, while the guava leaned especially exotic, and the passion fruit came in as a close second with its bright tropical notes. I also tried mixing the traditional tamarind with mango, which oddly created a more Hispanic-leaning flavor profile -- sweet, tangy, and super familiar in a completely different way. The passion fruit + guava combination ended up being my favorite overall. It was so light, refreshing, and interactive that we immediately ordered another round. Mithu's Coriander Shrimp was my favorite savory dish of the night. The shrimp sat in a coconut-based curry that had this mellow, toasted depth that reminded me a lot of Vietnamese chicken curry -- warm, aromatic, and comforting without being heavy. The bread soaked up the sauce perfectly, but what really made this dish stand out was how well it paired with everything else. When combined with the Chicken Tandoori Kulcha and its butters, it genuinely elevated both dishes and created one of the best bites of the entire meal. The Chicken Tandoori Kulcha came stuffed with spiced chicken and served with Kashmiri butter and fenugreek butter. On its own, it was already a buttery flavor bomb -- rich, slightly spicy, and incredibly aromatic. The Kashmiri butter brought warmth and heat, while the fenugreek butter added a refreshing, almost yogurt-like herbal note. But the real move was layering the coriander shrimp curry onto the kulcha -- that combination balanced the spice and added depth, making the dish significantly better. The Malwani Fish Curry featured unbelievably tender sea bass -- I compared it to silken tofu, almost like the filet mignon of fish. The curry itself was coconut-based with kokum, which gave it a citrusy, slightly sour edge. While I appreciated how regional and complex it felt, it leaned a bit too citrus-forward for my personal taste when eaten alone. That said, it completely transformed when mixed with rice or the biryani -- creating this incredibly cohesive, flavorful bowl that balanced everything out. The Jackfruit Kolkota Biryani was one of the dishes I was most curious about, and it delivered in a really interesting way. The jackfruit had a texture surprisingly close to meat -- similar to chicken or pork but softer -- and absorbed the spices incredibly well. The rice itself was extremely aromatic, layered with saffron, rose, and warm spices. Like many dishes here, it really shone when combined with the fish curry or dal, which added richness to the overall dish. The Daal Musaafar continues to be one of the most reliable standouts here. It's a 72-hour slow-cooked black lentil dish that comes out incredibly creamy, buttery, and rich. This time, it felt slightly saltier and a bit less creamy than I remembered, but once mixed, it balanced out nicely. It's still one of those dishes I would come back for on its own -- comforting, indulgent, and consistently one of the best things on the menu. The Nimbu Naan was thinner than the bullet naan I had on my previous visit, but that actually worked in its favor. The lemony brightness cut through the richness of the meal and made it the perfect supporting piece for soaking up dal, curry, and biryani. It added a refreshing contrast rather than just being a filler carb. The Pour Me a Slice cocktail -- winner of Truffle Masters 2026 -- was exactly as advertised. It's a truffle fat-washed rum drink designed to taste like a margarita pizza, and somehow... it really does. The savory notes, herbs, and slight cheese element came through in a way that was bizarre but incredibly accurate. Not something I'd drink every day, but easily one of the most memorable concept cocktails I've had. Despite it being Mother's Day and the restaurant running at full capacity, our waiter, Justin (with six years of experience), curated an incredibly smooth and thoughtful experience for us. Wow! This restaurant is simply breathtaking with gorgeous decor and the ambiance is next level. The staff is attentive but not super friendly. The vegetable seekh kebab was super flavorful and the texture was great. The laal maas was tender and the sauce was very robust. The butter chicken flight was slightly disappointing due to the chicken being slightly overcooked. The garlic naan was pretty standard and didn't stand out in any way. We had Justin as our server during our second visit to Musaafer, which was just as fantastic as the first (minus the parking situation which was way worse for Mother's Day weekend). Our first dish, the Paani Puri, came out in 10 minutes. My favorite paani was the tamarind, followed by the passion fruit, yogurt, and then guava and mango. I thought the guava was a bit bland at first but it really worked well in the Puri. It took about ~30 minutes for appetizers to come out. Mithu's Coriander Shrimp (4/5): It reminds me a lot of Vietnamese / Thai curry. It's a bit pricey, but would recommend trying it. The sauce went really well with naan. Tandoori Chicken Kulcha (4/5): Delicious filling. The Kashmiri butter and fenugreek butter were very unique to melt on and add flavors. We actually had the most fun dipping the Kulcha in the shrimp sauce (4.5/5 combo haha) Entrees came out at ~50 minutes. Malwani Fish Curry (4.5/5) Inspired by West india and an incredibly tender piece of cod. The curry was very citrus forward and went excellently with naan and biryani rice. Dal Musaafer (5/5) Still fantastic, smoky, and complex. I'll get this every time we come. Jackfruit Biryani (3/5): A surprisingly good replacement texture for chicken, but I felt that it was missing the complexity of the lamb chop biryani. Nimbu Naan (4/5): Comes with three pieces and has a nice lemony flavor. I think I prefer the spice of the bullet naan. We also tried the "Pour me a Slice" cocktail, which was really a unique experience of drinking a pizza. Seriously, you can barely taste alcohol here. It's a truffle award winner but the truffle really comes out as a lingering flavor. It's really like a margarita pizza. Paid with inKind with no issues again. Updated review here. Tribeni, who is a manager at Musaafer, reached out same day and apologized on behalf of the restaurant and staff for what happened with our cancelled reservation. She was able to get us a table the same night for our original reservation time and it was a great experience, exactly what i expected from a Michelin star restaurant. The staff were super kind and brought over some bubbly for celebrating my husband's promotion. Our waiter was super knowledgeable and gave us great reccs for dinner. Drinks were awesome, my old fashioned was great and my husband's drink came in a tea cup! For dishes, we ordered way too much and had leftovers but that's ok. We got the scallop ceviche, lamb chops, saag paneer, butter chicken experience, onion and cardamom rice, and garlic naan. Everything was honestly so good, i can't pick a favorite! Musaafer Houston. What a beautiful and unique experience. We came last year for our anniversary and it was a dinner to remember. We opted for the 12 course tasting menu which was 175$ per person. The ambiance and service were amazing, but I just can't justify spending that much on the food we had. The restaurant is beautiful with so many tiny details such as built in hidden cabinets behind the decor. They are very friendly and offer to provide tours or pictures around the restaurant. Beautiful restaurant with a great atmosphere. We went on a Saturday night and had reservations. We were seated after a few minute, but a few minutes later we were told we were in the wrong section and had to move. Our first table was calm and quiet, but the new one was in a corner where servers kept walking by and next to a large private event, so it became very loud. I ordered a lychee martini, which was more on the dry side. We started with the lychee ceviche, and I was disappointed. The menu does not say that it comes with chopped onions and peppers underneath, which really threw me off. I did not enjoy it at all. This should be mentioned on the menu since many people do not eat onions. Also, there are two different menus and it listed the paneer rizala with two different prices, one for $29 and one for $59 which was confusing. For our main dishes, we ordered the paneer rizala and the butter chicken experience. The paneer was fresh and homemade, very soft and crumbly but still good. The sauce had nice flavor. The butter chicken experience was nothing special, and the green sauce was just okay. Dessert was the best part of the night. We had the gulab. The gulab jamun pieces were small but good and averag, but the way the dish was served looked beautiful. The service was good and attentive. First was the Nalli Nihari which was a lamb shank with saffron risotto and paratha. AMAZING. Lamb was perfect and that risotto was sooooo freaking good y'all. And the fact we get risotto AND paratha yes I love carbs thank you. Presented so beautifully too! Next is the Meen Mango Curry which was a sea bass in a mango and pineapple sauce and let me tell you this sauce was magical like the fruit flavors were just exploding I loved it so much. Then we got two more entrees but I forgot to take photos because everything just smelled too good. These are pretty standard Indian dishes but we wanted to see how they fared at an upscale establishment. First, the Palak Paneer, which was pretty good but nothing spectacular. Second, the Butter Chicken Experience which came with an orange and green butter chicken. YES you heard that right, GREEN BUTTER CHICKEN made from green tomatillos. Like thats the work of a genius right there, such a simple concept but soooo so good. For dessert first we tried the Gulab 2.0 which was gulab jamun with a chocolate rose and a fun table-side performance of them pouring hot vanilla vanilla creme on it. The gulab jamun were soft and not overly sweet. The second dessert was the Mishti Doi which was literally unbelievable. It featured these meringue mushrooms on a bed of pistachio and creme "dirt" and that dirt was so insanely soft and delicate but packed such flavor. Ive never had a dessert like it, so so good! Finally made it to Musaafer after hearing rave reviews from friends, and wow--it lived up to the hype. From the moment we walked in, the place felt special. The ambiance is upscale and beautifully designed, and the service was top-notch from start to finish. We sampled a few dishes and honestly loved every single one. The standout was definitely the butter chicken--actually two different versions on one plate, both rich, flavorful, and totally unique. The kebabs were a hit too (pro tip: you can order half portions, which is great if you want to try more things). The eggplant dish was surprisingly addictive, and the dal makhani was one of the best I've had--creamy, comforting, and packed with flavor. Portions are generous and meant for sharing, so plan accordingly. We wrapped up with the gulab jamun for dessert--perfectly warm, soft, and beautifully presented. Went back to try the tasting menu as a birthday treat. I have to say, the service was top notch this evening. The assistant manager got us seated and checked in on us. Our server also took great care of us. The 13 courses start with a few small bite seizes plates with fun presentations of traditional flavours. It's definitely very filling by the time you get to the meatier dishes. Everything tasted wonderful, there was mild heat. But I will say some of the curries just blended into the same flavour profile. Fish curry was perfect this time confirming that it was clearly off the last I had it here with all the bitterness. Even with a reservation for six, we were first seated at a communal table outside the main dining room, and then moved to a tight, dim corner--neither felt quite right for a place of this caliber. That said, the manager handled everything with kindness and professionalism, and once we were moved to a round table in the center of the main dining room, the night completely turned around. Where better to try out your first real restaurant outing with your newborn child than Musaafer? To be fair, Musaafer is quiiiite expensive, but it's an incredibly accommodating space, with absolutely amazing service. Our newborn's first foray into fine dining went fairly well; and when they did start crying - Musaafer helped us get the check quickly, and helped us exit. Despite the incredibly beautiful and formal decor, staff never made us feel out of place for bringing our baby. So, yes, what better place! We did come with my partner's parents, and as people who care significantly less about fine dining, they did not care for our server's provision of the background of the menu and the backdrop of each item we ordered (but I still loved it!). So, just know who you are and where you live in that spectrum to enjoy your Musaafer experience. I loved every time we ordered, but since I was the only one who loved it all, it's only fair to say the average enjoyment of each dish was probably about 4/5. The lychee ceviche was particularly unique and a must try! I am also partial to the jackfruit kofta (which we also got the last time we came). I came to Musaafer for a business dinner and I was a little skeptical because I've never tried Indian food but it was a great experience! The restaurant is in the Galleria so you can self park or valet. You take the elevator to the restaurant and once you step out you can tell you're in for an experience. The restaurant is beautiful and quiet and they have different dining rooms and a patio area. The service was great! We started out with appetizers: scallop ceviche, lamb seekh kebabs, and cheese kulcha. I ordered a cocktail that was great. For our entrees we had the butter chicken experience, lamb chop sufiyani biryanis, garlic naan, and laal maas. Everything was delicious!! For dessert we had mishti doi and gulab and it was good. All of the curry dishes were spectacular and I was surprised with a chipotle spiced chicken dish that was one of my favorites from the night. The service was everything I would expect from a fine dining establishment. The wait staff for our table were kind, patient, and non-judgmental when it came to providing descriptions of each dish. Where do I even start with the Ambiance. The side of the restaurant where my table was situated featured deep wood tones, fine fabrics, a view in the prep kitchen, and gold accents that set the tone for the evening. On my journey to the restroom, I found that each room in the restaurant painted a completely different experience! From the unique and vibrant wall decor to the eye catching wall and sconce treatments, Musaafer is a as much a feast for the eyes as it is for the stomach. I've been to a few Michelin Restaurants and this one didn't seem no where near as refined. Don't get me wrong, the food was great but I don't think the food and service matched the price. First, we were told that the tasting menu wasn't available but then in the evening heard our waiter offer it to another table which was odd. I asked about what were the dishes we must try and it felt like our waiter was reading a script. Normally, at higher end or even decent medium end places,they pace out your food and curate your experience. As you can see in my photos, they gave us everything at once which was mildly off putting. The food was also like warm and the Naan was stale. The waiter kept bringing up that they had a Michelin - a no no as it really makes you feel like you are being sold to. The Rasmalai was beautiful but not worth 27 dollars. It is a basic éntreme you can get at many bakeries in Houston. It is also laughably small but - as the waiter said, "it's a Michelin dessert". Very gaudy and pretentious. Expectations didn't live up to the reality and although the food was pretty good - the meat in everything was tender, flavors were balanced and nuanced - I feel like this place is now checked off my list. Went for Mother's Day and we had to get prefix menu. First time at Musaafer after hearing all the rave from friends and social media. Ambiance and restaurant looks great. Service was decent and as expected. Their cocktail Zaffrain was good. beekeeper was good. Their pre-fix menu was not worth the time or money. Appetizer was the fluff corn / cream that was bland. Next was something like a fried potato ring in yogurt. It was ok. Then came the first entree the mashed lamp patty on a fried tortilla-like thin wrap with some cucumber salad on the side. The lamb was a bit too game-y and the tortilla bottom was over fried and hard. We were told to put the cucumber mix on top and eat it like a taco. Second entree was the lamb shank in a curry sauce. Dish was not spicy but flavor was umphing and I usually love curry with the naan. Lamb was tender but after several bites I was done. It just felt really heavy. Maybe the previous lamb taco was hard to go down. First desert looked good. It was a mango ball with cream inside. Last desert was a tiny chocolate with dried fruit. I would give good points for being creative and for plating. Appetizer and desert just ok. Entree was meh at best. Maybe the Michelin rating gave us a high expectation? Perhaps pre-fix meals on holidays should be trying to get new patrons to like you not the other way. Most diners that night did not have a good time based on their faces. I visited Musaafer (a modern Indian restaurant) last night, this is a Michelin star restaurant for the past two years and I see why! While I enjoy Indian cuisine, this experience was exceptional. Every dish served was absolutely extraordinary! I sampled the Nihari Birria Tacos, Chaanp grilled lamb chops, Octopus, Dum Ki Ribs, and the Mishti Doi for dessert. The flavors, seasoning, and Indian spices were definitely on point and past Abu's taste buds lol! They also offer a preset tasting menu, but it requires prebooking. What an incredible experience!! The interior design alone is breathtaking, creating a unique dining experience. Service was exceptional, attentive without being overbearing. The food was exceptional, the flavors are out of this world!! I ordered the lamb chop dish which was excellent on its own, and I was able to try the short rib dish and some of the other appetizers. Musaafer is not just a restaurant. It is truly an experience. Cedric took us on a journey through the different regions of India with elaborate descriptions of the cuisine on the menu. What inspired the dishes and the ingredients used to make the dish come together come together so beautifully. Every dish we tasted was an artful collection of flavors and textures. What we ordered: Chipotle Chicken Tikka Brussels Sprouts Onion Xixou Razala Garlic naan Snow Tree dessert Believe me or not, every single dish was a 10 out of 10. Do not skip dessert. Musaafer had been on my list for a while, and once I heard it earned a Michelin star, I knew it was finally time to check it off. My boyfriend and I aren't very familiar with Indian cuisine, so we decided to go all in with the chef's tasting menu. It's definitely the pricier option, but I'd highly recommend it if you're like us and don't know where to begin when ordering. You have an option of having their vegetarian menu or having their meat options- we opted for their meat options. We also added the optional caviar and barrah kebab courses and they were so worth it. Every single dish was both visually stunning and incredibly flavorful. A few favorites: Ceviche - We had the cured escolar, served over a yuzu coconut sauce with and topped crispy corn. You're told to mix it all up before diving in. It was light, refreshing, and perfectly balanced. The coconut sauce was lightly sweet, the fish was fresh and the roasted corn added a crunch that created a perfect bite. Onion Pakoda - I wasn't too excited when I first saw this one... it's a charcoal-coated onion filled with black truffle oil. Sounds simple, but it was unreal. The truffle oil oozes out when you cut into it--super savory and satisfying. Barrah Kebab - This was a $12 add-on and totally worth it. I'm usually not into lamb chops, but these were chargrilled to perfection. It came toward the end of the meal, and even though I was full, I made room. Malabari Fish Curry - The main course of the tasting menu and honestly one of the best things I've ever eaten. The seabass was perfectly cooked and the curry was insanely flavorful. I was already stuffed, but I couldn't stop eating--it was that good. This goes down on my book as one of the best dishes I have ever had. Drinks: I mentioned to the waiter that I liked mezcal, and he brought me two custom cocktails that were absolutely delicious ($20 each). My boyfriend had a hot chai latte--he normally doesn't like American-style chai, but he loved this authentic version. What made the experience even more memorable was the service. Our waiter walked us through the inspiration behind each dish and even gave us the backstory of the restaurant. Fun fact: all the chefs came from India. The decor was also breathtaking--I couldn't stop looking around. This was one of the most special meals I've ever had. From the food and drinks to the ambience and service, everything was top-tier. Musaafer fully deserves all the recognition it's getting. I can't wait to return once the menu changes for the season. read more

Recently celebrated my wedding anniversary here with my husband and I have to say, this place did not miss. Ambiance was impeccable. Each room was inspired by different parts of India. Our server was amazing. She was so knowledgeable able the food and was great throughout our whole meal. My husband and I tried to tikka chicken for appetizers and that alone was a pretty big portion. We for entrees we tried the butter chicken experience which came with two chickens with a red sauce curry and green sauce curry. Both were amazing. My husband loved the Dal Makhni which was recommended by our server. We would definitely we be back! read more

Wow! This place is phenomenal, from the entrance, the decor, the staff, the service and the food, I have told everyone who lives here to check them out. There is a reason they have a Michelin Star, I reserved a table for 6 for a Thursday evening while I was in town and took some of my team. Walking in sets the mood, there's a set of stairs with gold mirror type accents and dark moody vibe- look up when you check in with the hostess stand, love the addition of pictures hanging from the ceiling. We sat in what in I believe in the main room, close to the bar. Our waiter, Justin, made all the recommendations- some we followed and some we didn't. I am gluten free and he walked through the menu, as this is a shareable place, he pointed out what we could have as a table and how modifications can be made. Three of us ordered different mocktails- mine was delish, some type of cucumber refresher, the other three ordered cocktail and wine and said they were very good. We started with three appetizers, I would order two of the three again and avoid the Lychee one ( odd flavors, the table did not enjoy that one), we also ordered the chicken tiki chipotle and the curry type shrimp- both had outstanding flavor. Next were the main dishes, we ordered the butter chicken experience ( wowza!), the jackfruit dumplings and the palek paneer with two sides of basmati rice. We enjoyed every.single.one, and justin brought me some type of puffed gluten free type bread thing - good but oily. My team ate the garlic naan and it smelled heavenly. We finished with two desserts, the one they are known for with then mushroom/almond flour and pistachio and then a cake type thing with strawberry like center ( this one is not GF). I think we would pass on the dessert next time and order another entree to try instead. We left happy, full and feeling like we had a warm cozy hug during our meal. The staff clean the table between servings and are quick to offer any support needed. Overall- such a great experience, I will probably go back on one of my next trips. read more

There are many good Indian restaurants in Houston, and this is one of our favorite for sure. Food and drinks are all great in both flavor and presentation. Their Dal Musaafer is the best! We brought out-of-town visitors a couple of times and they all loved their experience here. Service is impeccable, the servers are all very friendly every time we go there. Our recent visit was for a birthday and our server JP was over and beyond. The restaurant is beautiful inside and it's great for special occasions. read more

Musaafer had been on my list for a long time and thankful I got invited for Ann's birthday. Located in the Galleria, parking is between valet or garage parking. Thankfully I was able to find parking in front of the restaurant without having to valet. Walking in you're transported into an elegant and intimate dining experience. Surrounded by beautiful decor, architecture and lighting. From the hostess to our server, Sarah, they were friendly and really engaging. Not sure if there's a set dress code, but everyone around was dressed up nicely, good for groups, date night, or solo dining. It was 8 of us and we did family style ordering of the food and it was a huge spread: We had appetizers and of course main course meal: Appetizers: Onion rings, tuna papad, chaanip (lamb chops), & stepped out and tried octopus, - my favorite were the flavorful and special take on onion rings and the tender meat chaanip. Mains: Musaafer's Butter Chicken Experience - good all around (bias because I love anything butter chicken if it's spiced and made well, and Musaafer did not disappoint) Beef Vindallo, Nihari, Black Sesame miso Cod and 72 hour slow cooked black lentil, smoked chili. Drinks (cocktails): Both drinks were gin based and each had its unique flavor profile that I can't decide which I liked more. Bombay Velvet - made with Hendricks gin, Lillet Blanc, Kewra flower water, lime and basil. It was refreshing. Zaffran 2.0 - made with Tanqueray gin, Italicus, saffron, pistachio, lemon and lavender. Smooth and light, full of flavor. There is something for everyone and also how else can you expand your pallet if you don't try something new sometimes? Between the great food, service, ambiance and surrounded by good company and foodies, we had a great night. After our visit, Musaafer popped up on my Instagram as having received a Michelin star and well earned and deserved as the whole experience from beginning to end was world class service, food and ambiance. I am so happy I scored a reservation here last minute because the food here is outstanding!! I've been to plenty of Indian restaurants before and this was my first time seeing ceviche on the menu. Do not skip out!! It was outstanding! The octopus with the purple potatoes are also incredible, going to try to get a reservation in NYC next! read more

We had heard such great things about this restaurant so we tried it during our recent visit to Houston. We weren't disappointed coz it's an experience to have dinner here. We made reservations in advance and they called to confirm. We were seated in their beautiful area as you can see in the photos below. They have different seating areas from indoor to outdoor patio but I'm glad we were in this particular location. The ambiance was really nice and service was great. Our server made good recommendations for appetizers. We tried their chaat, Pani puri and Nihari beef tacos. Everything was delicious. I really liked the Nihari sauce, which made me order that entree as well. The Pani puri comes with different flavored drinks, which was new and delicious. We also tried their butter chicken experience and that was good but not my favorite. You get a regular butter chicken and then a second chicken in green sauce as shown in the photos below. I thought the flavors could be better. I also didn't care for their Old Fashioned drink. I ordered the one that comes with a piece of chocolate. It was not the best old fashioned I had. But the presentation of their food and drinks is picture worthy. They definitely do a great job with creatively cooking and making each dish stand out. Lastly my favorite was their Gulab dessert, which is also a really nice presentation and tastes great. This place is great for special occasions. Our bill was over $300 for two people for the food below. Overall I recommend you give it a try if you are looking for a unique dinner experience. read more

Great creative Indian food with somehow some fusion aspects as it's quite distinctive from the many meals the many times I have been in India. The spices seem very fresh and the plates distinctive. The paneer almost a reinvention of the classic. Really nice cocktails to start grounded in tradition with a creative flair. It's a Michelin star now and no doubt from the food alone complimentary interior, my only negative was the really long gap between starter and main. I think it was like 45 minutes with no update or requests if we wanted another drink or bread or anything, it was just kind of a dead time.. it was a Thursday and not over crowded so not sure what the issue was.
