    Chirashi bowl
    Hani K.

Thought it was not bad at all, a little underwhelming, but food tasted good nonetheless. Service is nice, very calm inside nice for a casual lunch. The restaurant is a little small so the seats are pretty close, I could hear the conversation next to me, but it can't really be helped, just something I noticed. I thought the price was not too bad, especially for seattle, lunch plate was ~14 and chirashi bowl ~19 rounding up. Otherwise a cute spot and plenty of dessert shops nearby for a sweet treat after.

Musashi's chirashi bowl is legendary! Relative to other top notch places, its chirashi bowl is so reasonably priced, and the quality of the fish is soooo solid! Just take a look at the picture yall. As always, the salmon and hamachi were the favorites for me, but even the ahi was not bad at all (I feel like Seattle just doesn't have that great of quality when it comes to ahi). Note: seating is super limited at this location so take out might have to be the move. Definitely check em out!

The space and their dish ware were all super cute. We went on a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty chill in there and got our food fairly quickly. We got the chirashi bowls that tasted very fresh and presented in a pretty bowl. I loved all the sashimi, and they gave us complimentary tea. The bowl isn't super filling if you are coming in hungry but it was good quality and a fair price.

Musashi's is a staple sushi spot with consistently good quality fish at super reasonable prices. But you get what you pay for! The nigiris have waaaay too much rice and the rice is not that great. But can't beat the fish quality for the price. Service is also good. You order and pay at the counter. The food came out super quick as well. Will continue coming here for sure. But took off a star because of the rice which is such a simple issue to fix.

I called in an order, which was captured incorrectly - I ordered seared salmon nigiri, in which I showed up and it was fresh salmon. I politely let the person at the front know that I had ordered seared. He talks to a lady in the back, who gives me a very expressive disgust look like it was my fault and tells me "it's too late". I let her know that I ordered seared salmon when I called, and that I wasn't changing the order last minute. She comes to the front and makes it a point to say "you're paying more now (assuming price change for searing)." Then goes back and half sears the salmon in the to go container (hardly seared at all) and give it back. I didn't want to make it a bigger deal there, so I just left with barely seared salmon. She was rude, dismissive, and appeared to blame me for their mistake. It's sad as I've been going there for years, but sadly, after being treated so poorly, I'll find sushi elsewhere.

Musashi's always been a great Seattle staple for sushi ever since I've grown up here. They've always had a great reputation for good value for what you get, and that's been maintained even when ownership changed. They've now got more locations but this Wallingford location has always been the original that you can count on. The chirashi bowl at $18 is a steal, giving you great portions at a cost lower than other sushi restaurants. I also had the California roll, which a larger and different than other places. Overall this is a great place to Seattle sushi.

Went here for lunch on a Friday and the place filled up pretty quick, def seems like a popular to go spot. We ordered a bunch of dishes and they all came out pretty fast. The service was nice and quick. It's a nice spot with lots of windows and a handful of tables and we liked the vibe. Overall everything we had was good, the sushi pieces are larger than I expected. The California roll had egg in it which I wasn't used to and not sure if I like but more bang for your buck. I was also a bit disappointed rhat they didn't have any fun or unique spot but I also appreciate how it's just good basics. Would go again!

Really great price for the quantity of fish! We ordered a hamachi collar, which luckily they had, as well as a chirashi bowl & ebi/hamachi rolls! They were all great dishes and definitely packed with fish--the chirashi bowl was definitely huge and the fish to rice ratio there was perfect. The rice is a little heavy for both the hamachi roll and shrimp/ebi nigiri, but it was fine! We were seated relatively quickly and enjoyed our meal with some tea. Great experience!

My husband and I visited Musashi's the last time we were in Seattle based on the rave reviews. Overall, we had a solid visit but I gotta say our nigiri looked nothing like many of the photos that looked beautiful and fresh. In addition, they were out of one of the orders of octopus nigiri, and asked us if it was okay after they already served it to us, which I felt forced us to say yes because we didn't want it wasted when they already made it. They should have asked first IMO, and we would have just omitted the item. The skewers were alright, not much to write home about. It was a decent stop for lunch, but based on the quality for lunch I'm not sure I'd return the next time I'm in the area - although it is very affordable IMO

Cute little restaurant with limited table seating. It was about 80 degrees outside the day we visited and we walked over to find the place did not have AC. It was very hot and the water they provided was also room temperature tea. The tea itself was good and we did separately ask for an ice water. Maybe because of all the heat, eating the raw fish didn't taste as great as it looked. The fish seemed to be fresh but was also room temp and the rice was the vinegar sushi rice but no other sauce which was fine. The eel, I could not eat because it was slimy and felt half cooked or old although it was the only thing cooked in the dish. The portion was good and they were picture perfect.

Would want to give this place 3.5/5 stars! Came for the chirashi bowls recommended by a friend. Good value for the amount of fish received/how thick the slices were. All under $20. We liked the salmon that tasted pretty fresh and buttery. Shrimp, unagi, albacore, and yellowtail were solid as well. Tuna however had an unexpected fishy after taste, which made my overall impression lower. Service was fast and friendly. We even received complimentary miso soup because they ran out of hot tea!

    Ask the Community - Musashi's

Their website says they are closed on Sunday and Monday. Is this accurate?

Are they currently open for dine in?

    No, takeout only again.

What fish on the menu are wild caught?

    How much is omakase?

They don't have Omakase. But what you can do is ordering Chirashi bowl without rice so it's basically just sashimi alone for $15.50

Is there a parking lot here?

Not at the restaurant itself. There is typically a good amount of street parking available in neighboring residential streets.

Is it the same one in East side?

They have a location in Factoria

The way they worded this really rubbed me the wrong way. First, I've never been give a time limit at a restaurant that was not all-you-can-eat. Second, the amount of time I spend in your restaurant heavily depends on the speed of your service (spoiler alert: it was not fast). They then sat us at the most uncomfortable table I have ever had the displeasure of dining at. The table was low and the seats were so deep that I could not rest my back on them while eating. Definitely brought the mood down further. Food was a hit or a miss, no in between. Hit: Garlic short ribs (my partner said these were tender and a good portion for happy hour), Poke sushi roll (good fish quality and taste) Misses: First Ave Roll (sauce was just walloped on top, weak flavors), veggie and shrimp tempura (heavy and soggy batter), pink lychee cooler (artificially sweet with no strong lychee flavor), green tea tiramisu (photo speaks for itself). For all the rave reviews, I was pretty let down. Thankfully, we went during happy hour so we didn't pay full price. I would not visit here again.

The three of us ordered the omakase and the food was delicious. Each piece was delectable and glorious. For food alone I'd given it a 5. Ambiance was nothing spectacular nor would set it apart from other sushi restaurants. It looked and felt like most sushi restaurants that offer omakase in the area. The service is where our dining experience, surprisingly, fell the most flat. Our waitress was a timid young woman who seemed very overwhelmed, speaking very quietly and quickly which caused us to ask her to repeat herself a few times. She had a script and if she stuck to the script she was fine but if we asked any question she wasn't prepared for, like asking about sake, she locked up. She also didn't appear to be receiving much support either. Questions regarding the sake were funneled through her to someone else who would relay the questions through her. The back and forth was enough I questioned why this person didn't come with our waitress to assist her. The explanations on the omakase dishes were given quietly or not given at all. It was just a bit atypical for omakase style restaurants in the area.

But clearly the deal was too good because they were all out! Compared to other hand roll bars, I like Sugo much more because they serve the rolls open faced, so you can clearly see the quality of everything you're eating, and it looks really nice. Further, these are full size handrolls compared where the ratio of fish dominated the seaweed and rice so that is the primary mouth feel. King Salmon - We topped up with ikura since caviar wasn't available, and the portion size was generous; the ikura adds a delicious salinity and texture profile to balance the naturally sweet salmon. Fresh wasabi gives this piece such a nice bright freshness. Ebi Nuoc Mam - Smaller shrimp seasoned with that classic Vietnamese palette of savory fish sauce that can give the shellfish flavor to hold its own. Tempura Shrimp - This roll gives a classic tempura shrimp roll with all the fix ins from spicy mayo to a sweeter saline glaze. The cucumber adds freshness and the piece eats very well with a balanced serving of rice. Spicy Tuna - Classic spicy tuna handroll with the added pairing of the sweet pickled radish, which gives a bright sweetness to contrast the bold spice coming from the tuna mixture. Kanpachi - Another piece that works brilliantly with ikura; we have that firm white fish powered by the lime, and the saline forward nature of the salmon roe really helps to add another dimension to the amberjack. Torched Eel - Very generous cut of eel that will be sure to satisfy for the final rolls I like the added toppings of cucumber and optional wasabi, which help alleviate some of the richness of that seasoned eel.
