Came here for a friends birthday dinner. I felt so bad because there were 10 of us but they were so good and nice about it! Since there were 10 of us we had quite a few rolls and I was sure that it was going to be a while before we would get them. I was pleasantly surprised that we didn't have to wait long at all! And the presentation of the rolls was very well done! The people serving us were very patient with our large group but still stayed attentive to us. The sushi tasted good and they had a lot of your favorite classics available. There were even non sushi options available as well which I always think is a good thing! The inside was well decorated with a variety of things. There were paintings, photos, sound system collections and more. It was a little interesting as a whole but I think they made it work well. I highly recommend this place for the overall experience I had!

I was in Seattle for a work trip and *had* to try some local sushi. Village sushi was the perfect place to do so! One of the best shrimp tempura rolls I've ever had, easily. The staff was incredibly kind, even at the late hour of 9pm. I had a fluke and needed a picture of my receipt and the following day Sang had no issue of helping me out. GREATLY appreciated, that meant more to me than any dish! The environment is very cozy and approachable as well, I highly recommend this spot and would love to return.

Delicious, reasonably priced sushi in a quaint, chill spot. Miso soup: not too salty with a light miso taste. Perfect temperature. Negi-toro roll: refreshing, strong tuna taste. Clean cuts and rolls. Salmon roll: my favorite! Nice balance of fatty delicious salmon with a melt in your mouth texture. Mango mochi: mango-flavored ice cream served with whip cream. A nice portion all for yourself or easily split. I wish I could have the option to sample all 3 flavors without needing to order each one individually. Service was very attentive, although my table was kind of awkwardly waiting for the check at the end for a little too long. It's a bit of a busy spot in the evening. Jazzy, relaxed atmosphere. Cool art & antique radios that add a lot to the fun vibes. It was quite chilly in the restaurant, so be advised to wear layers, lol.

New favorite sushi spot in my neighborhood! Wait staff was kind and efficient - inside was clean - food was spectacular! Overall wonderful experience.

Wonderful restaurant with an unexpected ambiance. Lots of pretty oil paintings mixed in with the traditional Japanese style decor. Jazz playing was a nice touch too. Sushi was very good and definitely had the most unique plating I've seen so far. The micro greens inside the spider roll was a cute touch. Definitely not cheap for the amount that you get (about $15 for both rolls, with the spider roll only having 5 pieces), but for an occasional nice outing it's worth it. I did not leave feeling full though, so keep that in mind. My boyfriend got the chicken katsu which was very good from the bite I had. About $16.30 if I recall. I will probably get that next time as the amount of food he got better suited the price tag. Overall a wonderful restaurant and I will be sure to come back again.

One of my favorite spots to grab some great sushi is Village Sushi in UW District. Everyone is so warm and welcoming. We waited about 15-20 minutes around a table. I've been here once before and couldn't wait to come back. The interior is so warm and cozy and truly a great date night spot. We ordered the V-Roll, Dragon Roll, Dynamite Roll, and Godzilla Roll. Everything was so delicious and fresh. There was an ample amount of fish within each roll especially the Dynamite roll. The hamachi (yellow tail) was so fresh and definitely a standout. Highly recommend village sushi for your next date night or dinner spot.

I came here for dinner on a weekday, and it was not busy. Upon entering, I was greeted by the chef and server, and they allowed me to sit anywhere in the restaurant. The restaurant is small, with dimmed lighting and lots of art. Service is excellent, as the server periodically checks in on me. I ordered the Spicy Salmon roll, Negi-Hama handroll, and Paradise roll. The food took less time to come out; it took roughly about 10 minutes. My favorite roll has to be the Spicy Salmon roll. Sounds basic, but I loved how spicy the salmon roll was. Usually, it tends not to be spicy when I order a spicy salmon roll at other sushi restaurants. However, the spiciness level exceeded my expectations at Village Sushi. Overall, the fish's freshness and the rolls' presentation were top-notch. The meal was close to $40 for three rolls, and I was very satisfied with the results. If you love eating salmon and want a kick to it, I highly recommend the Spicy Salmon roll.

A relatively fancy place compared to other sushi places in the area. I got a few rolls to share with a friend and they were all pretty good (although I think their eel sauce is too sweet and it really threw me off). We also got vegetable tempura as an appetizer which was pretty good. I liked that they had so many different vegetables (sweet potato, zucchini, pumpkin, onion, etc.) to try! Overall, I had a good experience at this restaurant. The restaurant is pretty dimly lit and gives off romantic vibes, so I think it'd be a great place to go on a date! However it is also a little more expensive than most other places on the Ave.

I'll just say that this place was pretty disappointing. The biggest issue was the wait time. We waited very very long for our food to come out, and so did everyone else, as the people next to us were complaining about the wait time as well. Plus, the price was not worth the amount of food you get. The fried chicken was sub par, and you could definitely get something better at a near by chicken stand. We were still hungry at the end, and decided to leave as it was not worth waiting another hour to order another sushi roll. Plus, the waiters did not check up on us even once which was unfortunate. Overall, I highly recommend trying another nearby sushi place if you ever consider coming here.

That excitement is exactly what brought us back a second time, and we even took plov and samsa to go for our road trip to Yellowstone. That says everything about how much we loved the food. The plov was outstanding -- perfectly seasoned, rich, and made with obvious care. Samsa came out golden and flaky, just right. Boso lagman was a dry-fried noodle dish with bold, satisfying flavor -- though more meat would make it perfect. Manty was solid comfort food, simple and honest. And the shurpa -- that soup was something else entirely. Deep, warming, and soulful, every spoonful felt like it was made with love. Food? Honestly, ten out of ten. No question. Service is where things fell short. The soup arrived last instead of first -- the team knew the order was wrong, yet refused to cancel it. The very next day they admitted it should have come first. We went for the beef tartare, Chinese scallion pancake, smoked tofu, kimchi trio, spicy rice cake, Chinese broccoli, "that" short rib steak, Kalbi burger, and the kombu cured mackerel. Everything was #brokedamout. The standouts to me were the scallion pancake, short rib, Kalbi burger and mackerel. Parking is available on the street and in private lots. The bacon and shrimp dumplings were good and the sauce was excellent. But the second course, the wagyu, left a lot to be desired. Everyone got inconsistent sized portions and each of our meats were incredibly rare, so it was very chewy and hard to cut through. Sauce was good on this one as well though. Dessert was solid. Panna cotta was decent but the crumble cake was great. I'd come back and try their other stuff. But wouldn't go out of my way for it.

We started with a dozen of the shucked oysters, which were perfectly prepared and not overly briny. From there we tried the Bò Lá Lốt and is instantly my new go-to dish whenever I come back. I'd never had it before and now I'm already craving it again. For mains, we ordered the Lemongrass Clay Pot Chicken and the Drunken Chicken. The Lemongrass Chicken had incredible flavor, especially the broth, which was so good it's worth taking home if you don't finish it. The only downside was navigating all the bones. The Drunken Chicken ended up being my favorite main dish. It reminded me of sweet-and-sour chicken, but without the overwhelming sweetness that usually takes over the dish. A quick heads up: definitely make a reservation if you can because this place gets BUSY. We lucked out and snagged the last four seats at the bar. Even with the crowd, the service was friendly, attentive, and the food came out surprisingly fast. I ordered the catfish claypot, which came highly recommended, and it truly delivered. The flavor was rich, savory, and comforting with a beautiful presentation. My one note: order a small side of jasmine rice. The dish does not come with it, and while the claypot stands strong on its own, the sauce deserves something to soak it up. You will want every last bite. The location is charming, tucked into a quaint neighborhood across from a cozy coffee shop and bookstore. The restaurant itself is spacious with a well stocked bar. One side feels ideal for families and larger groups, while the other side leans more date night or casual drinks. It strikes a nice balance. Pricing runs on the higher side, especially since entrees do not include rice or sides and portions are not particularly large. It is something to keep in mind when ordering. Service was decent and attentive, though I would have appreciated stronger menu knowledge. Simple questions like whether a dish is gluten free or whether it includes rice or vegetables should be easy to answer. A bit more confidence and familiarity would elevate the experience. I also would have appreciated seeing Vietnamese representation at the front of house, given the cuisine. Would I return? Yes. The food is good and the space is inviting. I am just not in a huge rush, as the overall experience did not fully match the quality of the dish itself.

We had the Dolsot Bibimbop- I chose the tofu and added avocado. My partner had the pork Dolsot Bibimbop and also added avocado. This was his first time trying this dish and stated it is going to be his new go to. The dish was so yummy and the ingredients were clearly very fresh! I also had the sake flight- which was a great way to taste each of the sake! My partner had a beer that he enjoyed. The server was quick, responsive and friendly. The restaurant itself is very very small, kind of a hole in the wall kind of place if you will, but it consistently had people flowing in to eat. The service was quick and the food was so delicious! I will be back again and definitely recommend others try this place! Yum!

I'm eating my way through East Madison street in Seattle from around the arboretum to Madison Park…read moreand Hanok was my first stop. I went two days in a row with friends to try a few different items. This place is great, all of us (4 of us) agree that we'd definitely come back again and again. It's a fairly small restaurant, but they are very accommodating for small parties and try to keep a couple tables open for smaller groups. Groups of 4+ need a reservation. The atmosphere is very quaint and intimate. The people dining next to me leaned over when they saw my food and asked what I got, and that felt very natural (I'm sure it doesn't happen all the time, but it was nice). The service was good. They are kind and welcoming and helpful. Now for the food... first night, my friends and I got the spicy pork bulgogi and (not pictured) the regular bulgogi as an entree, as well as the jeon sampler as an appetizer (which came with a fish and kimchi, as well as a scallion pancake like dish. It was VERY good. I am not super familiar with korean food other than kbbq, so I have nothing to compare it to. However, it was excellent. I loved the spicy pork (it will be my go to). The rice, salad, and miso soup were excellent with it as well. Afterward, I felt satisfied but not absolutely stuffed. Night 2, my friend and I got the Japchae with chicken, the pork mandoo, and I got the salt & pepper pork belly. The pork mandoo was really good, one of the better pan fried dumplings I've ever had. I'm a pork belly fiend, and it was good, I enjoyed it, but the spicy pork was much better. I saw other people get the kimchi fried rice and that looked amazing, as well as the bibimbap in the stone (or clay? i can't remember) pot. I'll definitely be back to try those. With both appetizers, I wish there was a little more, but they're starters, they aren't supposed to be huge, so I was ok with it. Overall, it's on the edge of madison park proper, what's not to like about the location? The food is great, the service is great, the atmosphere is very nice. Highly recommend.
