This was our first visit here and we were very pleasantly surprised. The facility was well kept, clean and had a nice aesthetic. The food was outstanding. We had the stone bowl "be bim bob" which included some additional vegetables. It was definitely the best "be bim bob" I have ever had. The real surprise was the dumpling appetizer; it was amazing. We could have ordered plates of those and had that as a meal by itself. The appetizer came with eight rather large dumplings so they didn't skimp on the appetizer size either. Another aspect we enjoyed is that all of the food seemed very fresh and seemed to be cooked with an emphasis on healthy eating. There were no thick, fatty sauces, just fresh ingredients prepared well with a few choice spices. The waitstaff and management were friendly and took the time to explain what the items on the menu were and even made recommendations which we will surely try on our next visit. My soondubu hit the spot for something warm and comforting but the general banchan was lackluster. I found most of their variety to be bland and their cabbage kimchee was overripe. The steamed mandu (dumpling) was good but were delivered after the rest of our food. This doesn't surprise me, but if you were expecting a true appetizer, you may be disappointed with the delivery. We sat in a tall walled booth and the restaurant appeared to be fairly empty on my visit. Service was fine and there is the call button at each table to flag down a server. Ahh one of the few places in the area that still uses metal chopsticks. I found this place when I was aimlessly walking around the area looking for food. I've tried the food court in hmart, but I wanted something different. This place is a little more expensive than other food in the area but I think it's worth it. The service is great and the food came out hot and delicious! The portions are generous and they can refill your banchans if you run out. The restaurant is decorated really nice and the atmosphere is not noisy! I ordered the yukgaejang and it was really good. This place is definitely worth coming back to! read more

I didn't realize that the H-Mart plaza was so extensive and we happened upon Musiro by chance. Its non-descript door angles away from the street, but we were walking around and found it. We were immediately greeted by Samantha and seated right away. The interior decor is neutral and contemporary, clean and well-maintained. Off to a good start. Samantha and our servers spoke English so it made it easier for everyone to ask questions about the menu and order their specific items themselves instead of me having to translate. Our group was vegan, usually a bit of a challenge when dining out, but Samantha was very accommodating and recommended vegan-friendly items, like the Buchujeon, Yachae Sunduboo (made with veg broth), and of course the vegan staple, the Dolsot Bibimbap with no egg or meat. We had ordered the Ddubokki made vegan as well, but when it came with the fish cake, Samantha apologized for the oversight and quickly had a new order made. The Buchujeon was a crowd favorite, so much so that we ordered another. The banchan (side dishes) was a good variety of vegetables and kimchis and they readily brought more when requested. With the great food and friendly service, we'll be back often. I'm so glad we found this place! read more

The people are so VERY unfriendly here that it takes away from the actual dining experience. My favorite dish here is the spicy octopus stir fry and the dolsot rice here. Atmosphere: This restaurant is extremely clean. I believe they recently went through some minor renovations, but the new look prioritizes privacy. I love how there's booths that are blocked off and have individual entrances. The lighting is also very ambient and the restaurant doesn't get too excessively loud. On a side note, this place is freezing. I would highly recommend bringing a sweater when coming to this restaurant. Also, the utensils aren't given to you; they're already on the table in a wooden box. I don't really like the chopsticks that are provided because they're quite flat and skinny. I already suck at using chopsticks, so that just makes it more difficult for me. Food: The food is very good. The combo meals come with so many sides that are refillable, which is an aspect that I love. Since this is kind of a tofu house, the tofu soups are really good. I tried the seafood with mushrooms soft tofu soup and it was delicious. They didn't skimp out on the ingredients and I was pleased with the amount of tofu in my soup. As for the meats, we ordered the bulgogi and kalbi. The bulgogi had a good amount of flavor, but the kalbi was a bit more bland than I liked. Both the tofu soups and meats come out on cast iron, so the food is still cooking or kept fresh and warm when it arrives at your table. I was a bit disappointed by the bland flavoring of the meats, but the tofu soups made up for it. Service: The staff was mostly nice, but I felt that there was a huge language barrier. I wasn't pleased with a few of the staff members because they didn't even try to make an effort to understand English. This is a pretty common aspect when I visit restaurants that aren't Chinese. We also asked for an extra bowl of rice, which didn't come out until we asked a different waitress for it (one who actually understood English). But in the end, we still got the rice and we weren't charged for it on the tab. 4/5 stars, the best place to go for soft tofu soups, but try KBBQ places instead of ordering meat entrees from here. read more

I absolutely love the tofu stew soups here especially the short rib tofu stew soup. It has chunks of soft tofu and braised tender short rib meat in a broth that you can customize the spicy level on. It comes with rice and many little side dishes like kimchi. My only complaint is the service was a bit slower than usual. We had to get up and go look for the waiter because I think he forgot about us but the food is always excellent. read more

I was very disappointed in the service here. My mom and I came here to eat lunch. After we finished our meal, my mom left cash on the table for a tip. When we went to the register to pay, the cashier asked us if we left a tip (since my mom paid with CC at the register and didn't put anything in the tip section). That is just something you don't ask. Made me want to go back to the table and take the money back. So typical of Korean ahjummas to be so blunt and rude like that. I took my sister here for sundubu when she was home from college! This is my favorite spot for tofu soup (and now her's too). We came in on a Monday night and were promptly seated. I love that the seating is basically a private room. There are wall-like dividers between the tables and it makes for a cozy and intimate dining experience. I ordered the Kimchi Sundubu and my sister ordered the Vegetable Sundubu. It came out pretty fast-- we waited about 15 minutes max. It arrived to the table still boiling and I quickly cracked an egg into it so that it cooks well (I'm not a huge fan of runny egg). They also bring out a bowl of rice and sides. The sides included kimchi, seaweed, cucumber, radish, and a few more. It's perfect for a chilly day and always hits the spot. I usually walk out STUFFED. Coming back for the bi bim bap (did I spell that right?) if I can convince myself to stray from ordering the tofu soup. Silken tofu just doesn't taste as good any other way. read more

Two things about this review: 1. Horrible Service 2. They don't clean Gopchang Soondubu (Intestine Soondubu) 1. HORRIBLE SERVICE I went there today again and my goodness, the service was absolutely terrible. I went there today with 10 people and shortly ordered foods. Some of the foods we ordered came after like 40-50 minutes so some of us had to wait forever while we were eating. The server never even said a word about it not explaining whats going on. She even brought something else that was NOT what we ordered. When we let her know she simply took it back without saying anything. Maybe if she said "Ooops, sorry." that could have been okay but no exaggeration: she just took it back from us and stormed out. Musiro should just get rid of their bells because it's very useless. No visits unless the bells are pressed and most of the times I press the bell it gets ignored.. We asked the first server: "Can we get refills on our waters?" The server freaking says yes and never comes back. Then the different server came after pressing the freaking bell and we ask: "Will the foods be out by now?" She freaking says yes and 10 minutes later they tell me that it's just now on the stove cooking and comes 10 additional freaking minutes later. I understand that they could be busy but that's not an excuse to be VERY RUDE, inattentive to our table, and giving no water refills (we had to get it ourselves). Why should we even ask if we KNOW that they will not get it for us? Isn't it their responsibility to provide service because we actually PAID FOR THE FREAKING FOOD? Disappointed, not with their food but with their service. I'll never make another visit to this place. 2. Gopchang soondubu. And problem with their Gopchang Soondubu (intestine ). They don't wash or wash it thoroughly enough to clean out the sand or rocks in it. Three times I chewed on the rock and almost broke my teeth. I let them know that I chewed on the rock every single time and they made excuses on how difficult it is to clean out the intestines and justified themselves with illogical logic that they made. This is my go to place if I'm craving some soondubu. Their tofu stews are all reasonably priced below $10 and have been consistently good. It might be tied to the fact that they used to be called Tofu House, lol. As you can suspect, the tofu is very soft and the soup itself is very rich and hearty in flavor. Crack in a raw egg and you have perfection. I've tried some of their other offerings on the menu, but nothing really stands out, honestly. The bbq offerings like bulgolgi and LA galbi are pretty run of the mill here and the banchan selection is pretty limited compared to other places. That being said, I've never found anything to be disagreeable here. The atmosphere here is pretty private. There's booth seating and it's effectively a private dining room for you and your party. There's a bell by the wall that you can use to call the waiter / waitress if you need anything and you probably will as they tend to be pretty hands off in terms of checking on everyone. For those that haven't had Korean food, I would say that you may be somewhat startled by the smell of the place when you enter, but please power through and ignore it. They're mainly just the byproduct of the ingredients that go into making the dishes. I would recommend this place for those who have a soondubu itch to scratch as this would not be my first choice for the other things they have on the menu. read more

This used to be a once-per-week lunch spot for me. Great food, good atmosphere and service. None of that has changed. What changed is the portion size. For example, the amount of meat in the spicy pork dish has decreased by 25-35%. I thought this might be a one-off, but it has been three times in a row. Sundubu jjigae!! Sundubu jjigae!! Sundubu jjigae!! That is their specialty here and that is what you should get. I mean, come on people! It's on their sign (in hangul) with big letters that say TOFU. And they definitely do it right here. Roommate and I got the seafood sundubu jjigae (Korean tofu stew) and the dolsot bibimbap (mixed rice with veggies in a stone pot). Both were delicious but we both agreed that the better of the two was the sundubu jjigae. Sides here are plentiful and of quality. I really enjoyed every side dish (except the broccoli, but that's a personal preference). It's not too expensive when you compare it to other Korean places and you'll leave satisfied with your tummy all warm and toasty ready for a great long day of grocery shopping. The inside is designed like an old Korean village. It's large enough to fit around 75+ people. All the tables are sectioned off with dividers and some of the larger sections have a complete wall. They keep the place pretty well maintained as well. We ordered several dishes including the soon tofu/galbi combo, bulgogi stew style, and dumplings. Everything we had was really good. Their dumplings are pretty popular. They are pretty large and fresh. The banchans were diverse and they filled it when we asked. You get the rice in individual stone bowls except the bulgogi stew. They gave me white rice. The service was friendly and quick. It was friendlier than the typical Dallas Korean restaurant. They're more engaged with the customers. We found this place only by chance and it's great. Don't let the blacked out windows fool/scare you! I love the more private seating in the left side when you come in. The seafood pancake is DELICIOUS and the spicy pork and squid dish. We ordered the beef tripe soup this evening which says it's for 2-3 but it could probably feed more, although we might just ordered too much food. Their small sides are very good and much better quality than places like Gen. This is my all time favorite restauraunt for sundooboo chiggae. They also give you variety of good side dishes as well. I personally love their food so much But The only thing that's always annoyed me is that anytime I go eat there with my younger sibling or my friends, they serve you rice in a plain bowl instead of the hot stone bowl that they are SUPPOSE to serve you in. But when I eat there with my parents, they always serve the rice in the right bowl. They think that younger people don't care about the quality of service you get as much as the older ones but they should know better read more

KOREAN FOOD = AWESOME I keep seeing reviews that say the service is lacking. Don't let that stop you from coming here. You may have to flag your server every once in a while, but that's totally fine and once you get their attention, they'll come to you and eagerly help you. I went on a weekday during lunch and service was fine! The restaurant is really cute and I love coming here for the bomb Korean food and the great environment. My friend didn't mix his bibimbap and the server even came and insisted that he mix it and gave him extra rice too! I love getting tofu soup here (usually beef, sometimes seafood). I understand that many cultures don't like to spilt checks but they were willing. Well everything went down hill from there. I marked the items to spilt and they still manage to mess that up. Pretty good! They have a solid variety of tofu, and the portions are huge. I had the classic seafood tofu, and it was yummy and very well-priced. My friend had an enormous bowl of noodles (literally the largest I've ever seen!) that she couldn't finish. Got the sundubu (soondubu?) and I did not regret it. What is it about that delicious spicy tofu soup that makes it so good on a winter day? I had a hard time finishing mine although I was pretty hungry when we started. Although I wish I had gotten it with vegetables also, because with the tofu, pork, and egg that I cracked in it, I was pretty much eating a bowl of protein. The banchan had a pretty good selection (there were like, six at least) and although there weren't the potatoes that I loved, they had mung bean sprouts and the rectangular fish cake and kim chi. While looking for a lunch place that was open at 10:30 am, we stumbled into Musiro. I ordered the combo seafood tofu soup and Galbi. Normally, I am not a big fan of broth soups or tofu. Oddly though I love Korean tofu soup and the soup here is one of the best! The soup was the perfect amount of spicy and did not taste seafoody at all. My fiance who normally hates soup kept asking me if he could have more. Galbi came out just right. We also ordered the Bulgogi, Seafood Pancake, and Rice Cake. Everything was delicious. Coming in I had really low expectations for this place. I moved to Austin from Cali 3 years ago and I have since been on a quest for good Korean food in Texas; specifically good tofu soup. Was here on a day trip to grocery shop and check out the new Daiso that opened up. Our dinner was quiet but nice. Jewel and I both ordered the Tofu and it tasted perfect. No attempt to get fancy here. Tofu, beef, a pinch of green onion, and broth topped with an egg. People that know me know how anal I am about the way soon tofu should taste. Most of the time the taste is thrown off because they don't add MSG and fail to properly compensate for the lack of it. Others add foreign ingredients that I don't really care for. But none of that here. Just perfect tofu soup. Other than that I thought service was okay. Initially I thought our server was really ruder than she was until I realized she had a case of RBF (resting birch face) so all was forgiven in the end. I've been to Korean restaurants throughout central and south Texas including a zagat rated one in San Antonio and by far the Tofu soup here has been the best. Bravo mushiro. Excellent place to get Sundubu (tofu soup). The beef sundubu (served with rice) is well flavored and very standard. I just wished the "spicy" on the menu was much much spicier. However, I love spicy food and can probably tolerate spicy more than most people. Make sure to crack your egg into the soup when they serve it to you (since the egg is raw). The Banchan (small side dishes, mostly pickled vegetables) were also really delicious, and you can keep asking for more of your favorites. The sundubu + banchan will really fill you up.
