I dream about the spicy pork ribs. Authentic and yummy Korean food that we all see in the dramas. Banchans are fantastic and portions are huge. Pork neck bone soup, pancake, spicy squid are all a hit. Will return!

Some of the best seafood pancake I've had! The spicy squid was also excellent. Good banchan as well, and fast service. I wish there was soy sauce crab - we went basically 45 minutes after they opened on a Wednesday (they're closed Tuesdays) and they were already out, even on a slow day and time. Is there a day/time that's best to come for crab? I'll come back again for the seafood pancake!

Tried this place out based on good recommendations and I thought it was ok! Pork ribs were flavorful and tasted like the better version of standard "sweet and spicy pork" dishes. The seafood pancake was mostly batter... I was struggling to find any seafood in it. Also, as someone who can't handle spicy food, I don't like how a lot of menu items were spicy and the spice levels were not adjustable.

SO GOOD. I can't wait to come back and try other items on the menu. And I probably want to come back with a few people so I can try more than a couple things at a time :) it was my and my husband's first meal of the day and we didnt have a huge appetite yet so we only ordered two items and we still couldn't finish it! So full!! Soy garlic pork ribs - def can't skip on it. It's not dry. Melts in your mouth. Charred just the right amount. So much flavor and comes with so much meat! They're not tiny little ribs either! Seafood pancake - variety of seafood in it. I do not care for the big shrimp they put in it (they also have tiny shrimp). The big shrimp didn't taste fresh..I'm also not a huge fan of shrimp so if it tastes even a little fishy I refuse to eat it, so I just picked it out. Everything else in it was pretty good. It wasn't a thin pancake. It was thick with a bunch of stuff In it and it was still crispy.

We have been to the Plano location. But it's our first time in their Carrollton location. Both locations are pretty busy. There's always a wait... but it is so worth it. The pork ribs bbq is so good. We ordered bothe the soy sauce and the original. While both of them are good, we all liked the soy sauce better. The soup we ordered is the thin beef slices, tripe and tendon. It also came with enoki and king oyster mushrooms. You will have to add salt to the soup . I think it was meant to be that way. Once the salt is added, it was very good. My friend added some kimchi to hers to make it a bit spicy. We will be back to try their other stuff.

Their soup was delicious but the highlight was soy sauce marinated Korean raw crab. The small size had very generous amount. Also as soon as we finish side dishes, they kept offering more which is very generous. I loved the pickled cucumber and the spicy kimchi.

You are doing yourself a disservice if you don't try the soy sauce marinated raw crab and cold noodles. Firstly, their ban chan is actually good (got seconds). You'll have to call ahead to see if they have the raw crabs day of since they don't prep it everyday or by chance they sell out. Crab: yes it's raw but it's not what you think. The marinated pairs really well with the flesh of the crab so you'll be getting a lot of the freshness and sweetness. Combine each bite with a scoop of rice/kimchi and you're gonna want more each time. Cold noodles and pork rib: wrap the pork with the cold noodles. No additional comment needed. Service and ambience: awesome staff. They have a jinro frog.

I've probably dined at Maet Gaek once a month since they opened the Carrollton location. Their menu might not be as extensive as other Korean places but the dishes offered are more than enough to keep you coming back for more. My favorites are their original pork ribs, bibimneungmyun, and sullungtang. Their portions are generous and I love their variety of banchan they serve (my mom commented their banchan all have sugar and that's why they're addicting - she is a hard woman to please). There's always a wait during lunch and dinner so come early or late if you're set on dining here.

Saw the reviews and saw the location so why not give it a shot? Tried the soups and the #5 spicy soup was lacking meat, noodles, and veggies, for $15 I would have expected a little more protein and portion. The service was good, the bonchon would never go empty, the pork ribs had really good flavor but portion could have had a little more. I'm glad I tried this place but do not think I would frequent this location, I left feeling like I over spent on a simple meal.

Finally was able to try this 2nd location! Food was excellent! They're still in their soft opening phase but up and functioning like they're fully open! Kudos to the friendly, attentive staff! Food: we ordered their renown pork ribs, both original and soy garlic. It was delish!! Paired so well with rice and their flavorful banchans. The seafood pancake was crisp to perfection! The spicy squid had such strong flavor of black pepper but it was still good! I'm so glad they finally open this location. I highly recommend this place, great customer service and even better food!

Overpriced for small portions. Recommend going to the Plano location instead, which has a more extensive menu.

As we were waiting, we noticed that 4-5 tables were done eating and paid their bills. All got up and left, the staff quickly cleaned the tables. The cleaned tables were empty for another 15 minutes. The lady that took our names down took a while to call the next customers. Seems like we were waiting just to wait...she sat one party down and waited another 10 minute to sit the next group... anyways, after we waited for a good 40 minutes, we were finally called to be seated. Sat down and was immediately served with water and took our order down. Time for the food review: Chicken popcorn - nice crisp and texture, but lacking flavor. Felt like it needed a dipping sauce. Pork lard rice - disappointing, bland Pork intestine with green mustard - this dish was okay.. Crispy garlic salted fish - fish was nicely fried and flavor was good. Probably the best dish so far Crispy pork chop - this is the reason why we came here.. we wanted to find a dish like May Ice cream. Unfortunately, this was a huge disappointment. The pork chop was extremely salted. From the skin to the pork itself. Walnut shrimp - this dish was foul. Who puts sprinkles on the side?! Tasted like I was eating an ice cream shop. The shrimp was also dry. Overall, not worth going and waiting. Food was lacking.

Came during the soft opening in September 2025 with excited expectations based on what we've heard, hoping to find a new go to Taiwanese spot. Unfortunately we didn't find what we were looking for. I admit this was the soft opening and things may improve, and for their sake I hope they do. Biggest issues for us were lack of flavor in the meat and multiple proteins being overcooked. The sauces they used had the flavor but it seems like the meat just wasn't given the time to marinate because the meat itself was bland. That coupled with proteins being a bit dry from being overcooked and you don't have a good combo. If they can tweak their prep process to let the meat marinate then it would solve most of the problems though. The best dish was the fried pork chop rice by far. A bit on the sweeter side so it just depends on how you like it. The bok choy it came with was basically raw though had more crunch than the pork chop. Service was also a mixed bag. The server was super nice and helped give us recs but it just seemed like they were still getting the hang of working in a restaurant. A glass of water got some food in it so the server took it away but they never brought us a new one. Again, soft opening so I give that some grace, but food has to be more on point for a new restaurant to make it. So all in all, there are definitely some kinks to work through for them. Normally I wouldn't write a review for soft opening but given that there are old reviews here plus food quality missed the mark more than I think it should've, I think people on Yelp should get a heads up.

We arrived right as the kitchen was about to close, but they still graciously seated us and provided amazing, welcoming service. The restaurant was also incredibly clean. There is a QR code for the menu you scan with your phone. The food was fantastic across the board. The congee was pure comfort food, and the sesame balls were some of the absolute best I've ever had. They were served nice and warm, the filling wasn't overly sweet, and they weren't greasy at all like a lot of other places. I really liked how the soup dumplings all had individual foil wrappers - made it easy and mess free. Highly recommend!

The beef was so flavorful, and we loved it. So this time, we ordered it again. This time, we also tried the pork noodle soup. The pork was flavorful as well. It was pork belly, so the fat made the meat even more tender and savory. Both dishes were delicious! But of the two, we still liked the beef option better. The ordering process was completely digital. We scanned the menu code with our phones and then selected our dishes ourselves. There was very little "human" touch. I still prefer having a server come take our order, which also makes the tipping decision easier. Anyway, we enjoyed the food and will probably come back again.
