Day after Christmas in Brendan, the Blue Bell Creamery was closed so we decided to antique downtown. Must Be Heaven was open for business and despite lots of business the service was friendly and fast. I had half a pastrami sandwich and broccoli cheese soup. Delicious!!! The grilled Texas Monte Cristo was the perfect combo of salty and sweet... one of the best warm-sandwiches I've had. My partner had the avocado and sprouts...very fresh and delicious as well. Loved the portions. Appreciated the staff wearing masks and gloves. They encouraged social distancing and tables were Cleaned frequently. I'm just visiting Brenham for a couple days but will make sure to have one more meal here before I head out. read more

I ordered the quiche and broccoli soup. The quiche was luke cool. If that is such a thing. I have had many quiche in a restaurant has always been served warm. Soup was very watering and again lukewarm. Our friend ordered the Pastrami sandwich. There was one slice of meat folded in half. Most pathetic pastrami sandwich I ever seen. I then ordered a piece of chocolate meringue, should have known better. I actually ordered a hot fudge Sunday and 2 pieces of pie. The cashier actually looked at me and what kind of pies "I zoned out". Wth so I had to repeat myself. Then her helper asked a 3rd time what kind pie I wanted. The chocolate meringue was just awful. The pie was room temperature when it's supposed to cold. I wished I would have taken a picture because it was just flopped on the plate. I took two bites and that was it. I should have returned it. It was sour. The bus boy was slamming the dishes in the tub he knocked over the chair twice when clearing tables. Awful experience. read more

Nice casual place. You enter and order food at the counter. You wait at the counter for your food, but is quick service. We ordered Grandma's Salad, a bowl of Broccoli Cheese Soup and Pimento Cheese sandwich. Everything was fresh and delicious. Desserts looked good as well. First time in Brenham. This place had seemed like it was a must go to place for lunch. Line was very long...to the door. Waited in line around 30 min. 3 orders..sandwich, chips, pickle. My chicken salad sandwich had barely any chicken salad. Had no flavor. My daughter had a pickle the size of a pencil. Her roast beef sandwich was also cold. Chicken breast sandwich was pretty small. Disappointed. Really wanted this place to be great. Pros: cute decor, nostalgic. There was one gentleman picking up all the trash/ plates from table. working hard. We were in town for the annual 10K Blue Bell Run and we stopped in afterwards for a good ol' Brenham lunch. We had heard that this was the place to be and popular is ann understatement. Located in downtown historic Brenham, Must Be Heaven is an old fashioned ice cream parlor with sandwiches, soups, and pies. The food is to die for as the food was great. I had a chicken salad on phyllo dough and my wife had a yummy pimento cheese sandwich. We also had homemade apple pie and a banana coconut pecan pie concoction called sawdust that was delicious. The soups were hearty and filling and we topped it off with some sweet melon tea. The biggest negative to this place is the loooonnnnngeeesssst wait in the world. We stood in line to order food for nearly 45 minutes. What didnt seem like a long wait at first was obscured by a big wall that hides the majority of the line. I'm not sure what the hold up was, but I suggest this place get two cashiers on peak hours. If you must visit, try coming when there isn't a line out the front of the door. Alternatively, you might also try ordering the food to go from the ice cream parlor where there is hardly any line. read more

Visiting during COVID times: social distancing was great. Tables were spaced out way more than 6ft, so that was greatly appreciated. As for the food, it was regular diner food. Comforting, but not glamorous. Tasty, but not exciting. The apple pie was definitely the highlight. If you go, just stick with the pies. read more

Wow, what a place! The menu itself is overwhelming and so choosing an option proved difficult. We settled on something different for each. The Texas Monte Cristo, the grilled cheese, the turkey club and the Veggie. All four were great but we all agree the Monte Cristo was the absolute best! You got chips and a pickle spear with each. This is a cute little restaurant in a cute little town. They have plenty of sandwiches and salads to eat. The food is fresh and tastes really good. I got this grilled cheese with pesto sandwich and the person I was with got the avocado sprouts sandwich. And we both shared these with each other and I equally enjoyed both. The pesto tasted really fresh like they just made it that day or the day before. The sprouts on the avocado sprouts sandwich were crisp. The grilled cheese with pesto also came with tomato soup and it was thick and flavorful. They had a bunch of pies sitting there on the counter that I was staring at. But I've been trying to be healthier lately so I didn't buy a slice of pie. However, now that I'm thinking about it, I really should have. Someone needs to go to this restaurant and try one of these pies and let me know how it is. By the looks of them though, I would guess that they are fantastic. They also had cookies back there for dessert and I regret not getting one of those, too! The service was fantastic, and the food sounded scrumptious, but it was terrible. We had tuna and chicken salad served on sourdough. The bread was very dry, and did not compliment the contents. The tuna was unfulfilling, and blah. The chicken salad was not mixed well and had blobs of too much salt I didn't finish it. First time here today for lunch. I had a half turkey Swiss sandwich with broccoli and cheese soup and southern pecan pie slice. The staff was friendly and very helpful! The line looks long when you first come in but definitely goes fast due to the great job the staff does. Everything seems homemade and very fresh! Great find in Brenham! read more

Recently on a girls trip we decided to stop in for a late lunch after we spent a very hot early afternoon at the Antique Rose Garden. We had never been to Brenham before and got a little turned around first looking for the restaurant and then for parking. By the time we got inside we waited a bit at the first counter you see when you walk in but the employees didn't stop their conversation so I finally asked if we could order there and they said no, we had to go to the other side. After we placed our orders and were waiting while two ladies plated our food we realized that they were closing soon because they were making remarks about it in Spanish which we understood and I don't think they knew that we did. So we sat and started eating. A few minutes after 3, probably between 3:10 - 3:15, a male employee came to take any empty dishes from the table. But then, he just stood there without making eye contact about a rulers length from the table edge. And there he stayed for several incredibly awkward and uncomfortable minutes. Probably as much for him as it was for us honestly. And while this complete nonsensical table standoff between that poor gentleman and us was going down, another employee was mopping every inch of flooring around where we were sitting and the door. And didn't leave a path for us to safely get out through. Now at this point I still felt like my hair is kind of burning and smoking from being out in 105 degree weather, I'm hungry and I had heard the food here was really good, and I had already paid for it. So I said loudly that they could have simply said "hey, we are closing soon, would it be ok if we served your food in to go containers?" Or maybe had that poor man offered to bring me to go containers instead of whatever that weird hovering thing was I would have happily eaten what I could until closing time and took the rest with me. Instead they tried to get myself and my companions to leave food we had just paid for and slide out the door on that wet concrete. The food was pretty good but we have no plans to return. It was just too odd and it didn't need to be. There seem to be lots of choices for lunch in Brenham. This one in particular caught my attention with the very clever name, nostalgic soda shop ambiance, and impressive menu with many in house prepared selections. Sadly it's just not for us. read more

They don't do frozen blended drinks very well, the cappuccinos and bluebell ice cream and sammies are excellent. We've eaten here before and a long long time ago, we'd even eaten at location they had on the Wharton County square. They have a double sided counter area, one side is for drinks and ice cream and picking up to go orders, and the other with what will usually be a long line...is where you order meals and other goodies...it's worth the wait. read more
