Came here on a Sunday at 9am and we were the first and only ones until about 930 which was really nice. Everyone was super friendly and they had a wide variety of foods for breakfast. We got a quiche, the Blue Bayou, the Millennial Falcon, and two different coffees. Obviously the important thing is parking which was easy on a Sunday morning because really where is everybody in central Texas at that time during the week? Place was HUGE but comfortable at the same time. They had a corner with games and toys for families and kids. The spice section had delicious flavored sugars that we didn't get because our four year old was ready to go. Breakfast was the perfect size. Sometimes you expect a really large portion then feel disgusting but the amount they gave was just right. They all came with a side of fruit and yogurt. Coffee was a little sweet and less coffee than flavor but that's okay because we were expecting that. The German chocolate coffee drink is the way to go. Overall a good experience. read more

Solid place! The ambiance is super quirky but chill and laid back. Stopped in over the weekend and had the opportunity to talk to one of the owners and their backstory is really something. The cold brew was also very good! I tried the chocolate peppermint and my husband had the strawberry vanilla (I can't remember the name) and then we had a regular cold brew refill. We ordered a few breakfast items. For $11.50, per item, you can't beat it. I stepped out of my comfort zone and had the blue bayou, husband had the eggs Quixote and then we also tried the spinach quiche. All were a great portion size and very good. I wasn't leaving without trying the tea. The tea selection is out of this world. I could have stayed here the entire day trying all of them out. I ended up selecting one of the specials, the pineapple, which was a mix of pineapple, apple and pear. It was refreshing and not too sweet - as the owner said, "it won't be McDonalds sweet". I could have stayed here all day reading a book and drinking tea. If you are in town or passing through, I highly recommend stopping in. read more

The staff has always been so nice here. They have an amazing selection of tease. The coffee is good including espresso. And if you can get there early enough for their food menu, they have a great version of eggs Benedict. I forget what they call it but it's pretty tasty. There's also books and board games all around for you to play or read. The setting or ambience is basically like a small town library/old soda shop. read more

We awoke this morning wanting a great cup of coffee and a breakfast adventure. We'd seen TTW while walking around downtown Brenham and decided to check it out today. It is a wonderful restored property and the woodwork and other decorating choices make it very welcoming and warm. We were greeted by a young lady who showed us the ropes when we told her we were first-timers. In short order, she had our order placed and we took a seat beneath a fantastic stained-glass fixture/ornament overhead. She had the Blue Bayou (French Toast with honey, Brie, and a subtle blueberry sauce. I had the Bubble Waffles (think inverted waffles: instead of indentions in the waffle, there are bubbles). We shared a side of bacon. And of course coffee! We drink it black and there's no hiding bad coffee that way. This was delicious! By the way, their beverage menu has over four pages of teas, and one page of coffees. The food was out quickly. It was fresh and as interesting as the menu suggested. The self-serve coffee was delicious and complemented the food. I included some photos of the area we were in. I didn't photograph it, but they have an extensive set of board games in a little nook to the side. Several locals came in just to sit and sip while laptopping or reading or playing a board game. A very nice experience due the friendly server, the delicious food, and the tasty coffee. The Tilted Windmill is on our list of places to return next year! read more

Food was okay, definitely not worth the experience. Really rude girl bringing out food, not using their OWN table markers. She came out just shouting the orders so no one was taking it, because we are all reluctant to get someone else's food...she handed us the food because she thought it sounded it could be ours. We told her what we ordered and she still gave it to us. The COOK comes out and is mad that WE ate the food brought to us and aggressively states "I wish people wouldn't eat other peoples orders" and my wife replied "we checked with our server to make sure!" And he still stomped off. Very inappropriate. They did give us our food to go, because we were both very uncomfortable. I appreciate them doing that. read more

At coffee shops I often like to order a small latte because there will be less milk in the drink and I prefer my lattes with a little less milk than standard. I tried to order a Small iced latte, and she rang me up for it and made my drink. Turns out... they don't have cups for a small latte. So without my knowledge, she just made a latte in a medium cup with one shot of espresso and filled the rest of the cup up with milk. Medium cups typically get 2 shots of espresso for reference. So I was essentially served milk with a touch of coffee. It was awful!!! I would have at least appreciated some communication about them not having a small cup because I would've ordered something else, but the employee was not easy to talk to lol read more

The attitude of the staff was comparable to a roll of rusty old barbed wire. The coffee and tea we ordered wasn't bad but the five of us didn't see a smile from any of the staff the whole time we were there and there were 5-6 other groups present. When one of us asked for a couple of to-go cups the redheaded lady actually rolled her eyes. We all have bad days but the whole wait staff seemed angry. I have two redheaded grown kids so I know "attitude" when I see it, but you can't pick your kids, and I can choose to never to visit this establish again. The perfect breakfast! Not too much and not too light. I posted two photos because just looking at a sandwich on a plate did not just this place justice. Once I cut the sandwich in half, then you see the perfectly good egg with just a drizzle of yolk over the spread of Avocado and bacon. Topped with parmigiana cheese and presented with a side of Greek yogurt with fresh fruit. Such a treat! A great way to start the day! read more

I'm not sure how this place has so many good reviews. The staff was UNFRIENDLY at best. They were also rude to the people in front of me. They sold me a cup of milk with spiced syrup and called it a chai tea. The girl working there explained a couple times they make the spiced syrup there. That doesn't change the fact that it isn't tea. Huge waste of money and time!!!!! read more

The 10-12 choices for lunch on the menu for a unit price sound great. And the food pretty well meets expectations. My club sandwich was excellent. My wife's grilled cheese was good cheeses on plain Texas toast. The menu mentioned spring mix with balsamic for all lunches but our soups listed apparently nixed the salad. Soups were simple but okay. My cheese soup was very salty. I think it was basically velveeta with milk. The posted menu in the window listed a bakery item with all lunches. Had some extra time, so I stopped by this little hidden gem. The staff went above and beyond in customer service. They were absolutely delightful and I didn't feel in a rush. The breakfast was delicious!! Hot and very tasty. Ordering coffee was my favorite. I simply told the guy how I liked my coffee and he created something new! I want to preface this with I rarely post a bad review because unforeseen things do happen. We waited 45 minutes for a pretty simple breakfast which was only part of the problem. The staff was disinterested and rude. They were more interested in watching Mulan than helping anyone. When we asked about our food after 35 minutes, we were told they had to make fresh hollandaise. Then someone from the kitchen walked by and made a snarky remark about hollandaise taking time. They don't use a powdered mix. I know how to make hollandaise, and it doesn't take 45 minutes. The food finally came, and it was pretty good. The chef came out and apologized and explained again about the hollandaise. He gave us pumpkin bread to go which my husband will enjoy. We were looking for a traditional breakfast place in Brenham. This is not it. It is understaffed. You have to go to the bar to order your food. No table service. There was one person who took your order, settled your bill, made your coffee/ breakfast drink, and pointed you to all other items (cutlery, napkins, salt &pepper, straws, etc) for you to handle yourself. You could not get a coffee refill on your own. You must re-order and pay for refills. The lady behind the bar was working hard, but she needed help. The only other visible employee was a teenager who brought food to your table. The food was so so and prices seem high for what you get. Not sure what to say about the ambience, so I'll call it "eclectic". I will look for other options in the future. read more

Don't waste $30 on lunch for two here! We decided to try The Tilted Windmill for lunch. After waiting 5 minutes to place our orders - two Doc Hollidays, we waited another 10 minutes and were served "toasted cheese" sandwiches and tomato soup. The sandwiches were actually brown on one side of the bread and the other sides of the bread were buttered. We sent the sandwiches back and after another 7 minutes, the sandwiches were returned-looking the same. The "chef" mansplained that the bread was toasted, it just wasn't brown. read more

Located in a unique historic building in charming downtown Brenham, Tilted Windmill must have been a saloon way back when with that imposing hardwood bar, which provides an interesting backdrop for an appealing eatery. Our group had lunch and were impressed with the sandwiches we were served: chicken salad, full monte cristo, and blue bayou monte cristo, served on french toast. Each came with fresh mixed greens, mandarin oranges, and a perfect balsamic dressing. While we all chose water for our drinks, there's an amazing variety of loose leaf teas, coffee, and other drinks (so this review does not do that part of the cafe justice). The service was warm and helpful and had us feeling we will make this a regular place to meet. A suggestion about parking would be to take advantage of the lot half a block away on Commerce Street since street parking is limited. read more

A must stop for me on every visit to Brenham! Disclaimer: I have not had any food here; I go for the tea and coffee! There is a wall of tea with so many different flavor and caffeine level options you are sure to find something (I love the Siam Chai). They also roast and blend their own coffee AND have a nice dried spice collection. It is a small business with a smaller staff and they get very busy sometimes. We came to the art fest in brenham. We were enjoying a few minutes in the shade in this sweet little alley. My MIL lives in Brenham and we are always looking for local places for breakfast and such. We saw this cool sign that said "eclectic cafe". I was entranced! On yelp, they only had 2 pics of the menu, and it was breakfast. I wanted to know what else they had. I I saw on yelp that they closed in 6 minutes. I told my friends i would be right back. The entrance was right by where we were sitting. I opened the door (very carefully as there is a note asking you to) and stepped in the door. Three employees were standing there. A girl yells at me and says we are closed! I said I understand and i am not ordering anything but wanted to know if i could get a quick pic of their menu. This girl huffed at me. I mean she bared her teeth and huffed at me! This male employee told her, hey, she just wanted a pic of the menu, but that just made her huff even more! They still had 4 minutes before their listed closing time. HUFFED at me! Eclectic my &^%÷. Rude. Will not support and do not recommend. This girls momma needs to spend a little time teaching her about simple manners. My mom and I stopped by at an odd time (2pm) for lunch, and we were so happy that we did! I had the grilled cheese and soup (delicious) and my mom ordered the chicken salad sandwich. They were out of chicken salad, but Ellie (the owner) was kind enough to make a fresh batch for my mom's sandwich. Mom is a bit of a chicken salad snob, and she LOVED it! The portions are not huge, but we both were satisfied after eating lunch. I did get the turtle brownie for dessert (decadently rich), and I managed to find room to eat the whole thing. BLUF: Awesome and interesting teas and great coffee selections. Friendly staff and a small business that we will be very glad to support. My wife and I were in town overnight, so we tried this place twice. The first time, we tried three of their teas. A Mojito (hibiscus and mint), a Keylime Pie (lime and I'm not sure what else), and a chai tea with cocoa nibs (I don't remember the name). The first two we drank iced, and because we're not barbarians, the chai was hot. All three were incredibly good and worth the visit. The two iced teas were refreshing and had really fun flavor profiles that my wife and I enjoyed exploring as we traded teas back and forth. We shared the chai as we walked around downtown, and it too was of superb quality. The next morning, we picked up three coffees before leaving town. My wife enjoyed her latte, which I believe was a toasted marshmallow, but she especially liked the dark chocolate mocha, which I also found really impressive. We left with a drip that I wasn't quite as excited about, but I think it was a lighter roast than I prefer and I'm not a fan of the fruiter notes in my coffee. I'm more of a medium or medium-dark guy, so I think it was more me than the coffee. This place has a really cool vibe and the staff are really friendly. We stopped after a recommendation from another local on the way there and are very glad we did. Would strongly recommend for tea and coffee lovers. read more
