Big Daddy - Cherry, Orange, and Pineapple
    Ricky K.

The only Italian Ice I've ever tried was Rita's. And during the time I first had it, I ended up really liking it! I didn't even know about this place until my work decided to do a catering for all of us employees. So, when I found out, I was super stoked because it's been so hot lately, and it was a nice treat for us all. The italian ice is delicious! If you've never had it before, it's basically shaved ice, but softer and of course flavored. Kind of similar to like a sorbet. When I saw their cart, I thought it looked really fun. They have these really fun names to their ice flavors, and I enjoyed how creative they were! Definitely a great treat and I would definitely come to their food truck wherever these guys will be. When I ordered, I got the Big Daddy. It's basically an ice that's flavored with Pineapple, Cherry, and Orange. To be honest, I'm not usually a fan of cherry anything, but this combination of flavors worked. The cherry wasn't too potent, and I liked the tartness that paired with the pineapple flavor. It kinda tasted like a Mexican candy, and I love mexican candies! Thank you for coming to our work and I highly recommend you guys to get these fellas to cater for you in the future.

    Big Daddy!

Tried the Big Daddy and it was good! If you Like shaved ice with a mixture of flavors, then this is the place for you. I actually tried them out at a Yelp Event and they brought their fancy-looking truck. The server was very friendly and was helpful with recommendations. Definitely give them a try if you are craving for a snowy dessert!

    So good

Ordered my crème brûlée Matcha drink, a Blackpink drink(strawberry w/Oreo type cookies on the bottom), ham&cheese taiyaki and vanilla custard taiyaki. This place exceeded my expectation! My son loved his drink and he usually doesn't like anything because he's a teenager lol. My matcha was so good. The quality of matcha was much better than other bakeries I usually go to. They also caramelized the sugar on the crème brûlée. The taiyaki came in a cute box. My ham and cheese was scrumptious and savory. The store was small and cozy with a warm welcoming ambience. The food and drinks were absolutely delicious. Definitely coming back here

Biscoff Matcha: 6.5/10 matcha w/ a cookie butter swirl, topped with/ vanilla cold foam, biscoff cookie and crumble on top. felt like a good amount of sweetness, got it at 50% for the sweet lvl. wished the matcha powder had a more earthy and strong flavor. cookie butter swirl was nice, would've been great w/ a concentrated syrup to enhance the flavor. Biscoff Latte: 7/10 similar to the matcha, latte has a rich coffee flavor. not so sweet, which i enjoyed. just the same w/ the cookie butter from the matcha. needs more of a strong flavor profile for the biscoff taste. Macarons: 8.5/10 love getting the macarons! we got the salted caramel, fruity pebble, and strawberry cheesecake. they were all great! however, i felt like the flavor didn't shine through for the strawberry cheesecake. highly recommend the salted caramel.

Optimistically, I'd like to think it was more due to the latter, but regardless of the reason, we knew immediately we needed a cold sweet treat to cool ourselves off. Or, more specifically, a short walk across the parking lot to get some Somisomi! Much like all of their other locations that I've been to, this Somisomi is pretty minimal in nearly every way - from their design and decor to their menu. However, the latter, in particular, works for them, keeping things simple and helping them get orders out quickly. Plus, it's not like their menu is short on options - from their ahboong and upside ahboong, to their soft serve and taiyaki, to their milk drinks, cold brew, and cold brew float, they have a great selection to choose from. Not to mention how their variety of flavors of soft serve, taiyaki, and toppings allows for a dozens of ways for you to customize your order! While I already had an idea of what I wanted to get before we stepped inside, it didn't take me long to decide on their flavor once I saw their featured flavor. For my UPSIDE DOWN AHBOONG ($7.95), I opted to get their Cookies 'n Cream & Milk Tea Swirl with a Red Bean Taiyaki and Crushed Biscoff Crumbles. Sadly, this wasn't quite as awesome as I had hoped for, but this was still pretty good. Mostly, the taste of the milk tea in the swirl was hard to notice, but I did think the cookies 'n cream side of it was great. As before, though, the highlight of me was the taiyaki (with the swirl in it), as the red bean filling was delicious and I loved the batter - slightly crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Despite how there was a small crowd ahead of when we got in line, it seemed like it only took a few minutes before all of our orders were ready. What's more, the workers here were all super friendly, which is impressive given how they're just constantly churning out orders one after another for hours on end. Considering how I'm so late to the Somisomi party, I'm sure there may still be some novelty to coming here for me, but it doesn't change the fact that I still thoroughly enjoyed my order. What's more, I don't know what the other dessert options are around Pleasanton, but I imagine there aren't many others that are also open so relatively late (open until 10:30pm on Fridays and weekends). If nothing else, this is a great place to head to for some sweet cool relief from the heat! Or the Chubby Cattle meat sweats...

They sell a ham & cheese croissant, coffees, teas, lattes, and four flavors of Japanese shaved ice called kakigori, which is the star of the show. The texture of this shaved ice is like fluffy cool softness that melts in your mouth. It is different than the traditional shaved ice and it is far from a snow cone. We ordered mango and kinako (a roasted soybean flour commonly mixed with sugar). These are large desserts! It takes time to make them since there are fresh ingredients inside. The mango was superb with little bits of fresh mango buried inside the ice. Not sickeningly sweet like the syrups most places use. My husband's had little mochi pieces mixed inside. It is common to add kinako to mochi so this was a bonus and a nice surprise. The kinako dessert was sweeter than the mango. Please know that there seems to be no a/c in this little shop but she has fans going. We went in the late afternoon so it was really uncomfortable inside. I had to leave and wait outside until the dessert was ready. It's hard to take these home as it melts fast so we sat inside to enjoy them. It was like heaven in my mouth and it cooled me down instantly. You must be patient as it takes at least 10-15 minutes for her to prepare the desserts but it is worth the wait! There is a small parking lot right in front shared with other businesses. Located right off the freeway behind Burger King.
