This is a great place to get Korean food to go! I've been here many times and always love getting their fresh kimbap, their fried chicken, and their japchae! I also love getting their pre-made refrigerated items too - tofu soup, kimchee, spinach, and other banchan type foods. They also have marinated meats but I haven't tried it yet. Good thing I live far away from this mom and pop mini food store, or I'd probably almost eat out daily! It's a very, very small "mart" that spells imported Korean groceries and their own homemade Korean side dishes and meals - a lot of cold banchan, Korean fried chicken, kimbap, savory pancake, blood sausage, marinated raw meat, japchae, mandu, tteok-bokki, fishcake, and rice cake desserts. They also have a heating station for packaged ramen, and a small seating area. They are very kind and humble, and it's definitely worth a detour to take home some fresh Korean food and snacks if you're in this area. Craving my Ttekkboki so while in the area had to stop by & got carried away. While arriving after 4:30pm the sweets table was very sparse, but I was happy to spot the White Bean Injelmi. A powdery sweet treat filled with white bean paste all wrapped in a chewy mochi outer shell always leaves me satisfied. Not intending to buy, I got enticed with the 20% off sign for the chicken wings & decided on the spicy wings. It had a nice sweet & spicy sauce that was perfect bc I don't like overly sweet wings & highly recommend. The real reason for the trek to Sodam was their Tteokkboki. Sometimes tteokkboki can be a little too sweet, but not at Sodam. I would suggest eating the chewy rolls while it is hot, otherwise the rice cake rolls get a little hard. I always enjoy getting their spicy raw marinated crab, kimbap on the go, and recently their honey rice cakes! Please be aware that rice cakes can sell out quickly if you don't go early in the morning. The staff working at the cashier are always kind and indeed welcoming. They always have pickled items and other fresh items ready. I love their already cooked items for lunch and on the go. Great mini-Korean market. It's convenient without having to travel far and most importantly avoid high foot traffic. Various banchan favorites and sweets made in house are available. Small Korean market that offers a large variety of rice cakes, banchan, and street food! They're a mom and pop shop with the nicest owner. We came for lunch on a weekday and opted for the beef kimbap roll, mungbean pancake, tteokbokki, and picked up some mix nut rice cakes. It was pouring rain outside, so they were selling the fried chicken wings for a discount (which I wish we tried). The mungbean cake was just okay, but tteokbokki was solid and we loved the kimbaps, I even grabbed a fish cake one to-go for later. Perfect for when you want a quick bite on the go! read more

Nice family run Korean store. It's small but very inviting and homey. There's a lot of everything constant off a Korean pantry. Ramyum can be made by a self service machine in addition to a few prepared dishes. A nice friendly lady runs counter from behind the counter. Many diners enjoying a light meal by the window and tables by the right side of the store. You can help to smile and enjoy the environment. I pick up a few snack items. I've been watching TikTok and it made me crave Korean-style sweet/dessert rice cakes. So, I decided to visit Sodam in Dublin. My first impression was the lady at the cashier was very nice and friendly. She saw me struggling to make a decision on which of the many delicious-looking rice cakes I wanted to buy. I ended up asking her about what's inside the rice cakes, and that was when she offered some samplers. That really helped me make my decision, lol, finally. So, I got two packs: Kkul Tteok or honey sesame rice cake - this rice cake was a lot firmer than the Japanese-style mochi, but it was still super delicious. I loved the filling which was made with honey and sesame seed, as the name suggests. But I wish there was more filling in each of the rice cake. Also, I thought the color on the rice cake was really beautiful and vibrant. I would get this again. Chapssal Tteok with mixed nuts fillings - the texture of this one was just as soft as Japanese style emoji, but the filling was a lot more nutty as it was made with a mixture of different types of nuts and beans, including probably walnut and mung bean. It was really delicious. And it felt decently less sweet than Japanese style mochi, which the young me would probably not like but I kind of enjoy it now. I like this one more than the honey sesame rice cake. I would definitely stop by this shop to pick up a pack or two again if I'm in the area in the future. read more

This is a cute mom and pop type store/restaurant. Walking in there were always a couple other customers inside roaming the few fridges and shelves with many different kimchis and other korean foods and snacks. There's a cashier straight across the entrance with a menu. My bf and I ordered a beef kimbap and tteokbokki. The cashier spoke to us in a mix of Korean and English despite my Hispanic bf and my Wasian, emphasis on the W, appearance; though honestly I felt like that added to the authenticity for me lol. The food was tasty. The portion for the tteokbokki was smaller than typical restaurants but the price reflected that, and in my opinion most takeout has too big of portion sizes anyway so I preferred this. Overall, great place would recommend if you're looking for that feeling of homemade korean food without having to make it at home. read more

This is such a hidden gem! My husband and I came an hour and a half before closing so it was kind of slim pickings. I guess a bonus though is that the hot foods were marked down 20%. I got the gobo kimbap and the tteokbokki. The kimbap could have been more flavorful but it was good and filling. The tteotbokki was so good!! The rice cakes were soft and pillowy and the sauce was rich and not too spicy. I dipped my kimbap in the tteokbokki sauce which was *chef's kiss*! Great place for a quick, affordable, healthy meal. I don't go up to the Dublin/Pleasanton area that often, but when I do, I stop by this wonderful little market/restaurant almost every time. First, there really isn't much affordable at all in the area. Most restaurants will run you in the mid 20's before tax/tip. Which is actually a lot more expensive than the Bay Area proper. I'm not really sure why, but it is what it is. In contrast, Sodam is a quick little counter-serve market where you can pick out Korean comfort foods. Here are the three things I've gotten: 1. Kimbap. It's sushi if it were good. I've had the beef and the gobo. The beef is basically the same as the gobo one but with beef in it. They are both very good - the beef is a bit crumbly though so it's not super easy to eat on the move - but it's really good beef. Flavorful and well-cooked despite being part of a cold sushi. The pickled vegetables hit well - and the rice always has a nice, firm, but not too firm texture (which you often see from those refrigerated too long). 2. Tteokbokki (boba if it were spicy, savory, and thus good). Basically little rice cakes dipped in red spicy sauce. I don't what the red spicy sauce is - but it's good. It isn't overwhelmingly spicy and if anything, it's more like a spicy sweet and sour sauce with much less overpowering sweetness. Very good! I don't know if this is normal, but I actually dip the kimbap into the food. Combined, these will run you about $15 and it's actually enough food for TWO meals. 3. Fishcake soup. It's more subtle of a flavor. They do give you a lot of fishcake. I think as far as fishcake soup goes, it's been my favorite incarnation of the concept because it was reasonably flavorful, fulling, and had every imaginable kind of fishcake in it. I admittedly don't like fishcake soup very much at all, including the Japanese version (oden). But if you do, this is a great thing to get. It's also a little market, so you can also pick up tons of random Korean goodies. I saw buldak carbonara sauce out of the corner of my eye, which I would have gotten if I didn't still have a lot of buldak carbonara sauce at home. read more

Updated review for take-out. Parking lot was totally full on a Saturday morning before lunch, so I parked around the corner at the abandoned Goodwill. The shop has limited seating, so it's best to do take-out. They were well stocked with many freshly made trays of food! Lady working there was very nice and helpful. Here's what we got: Beef Kimbap ($7.50) - always fresh and tasty! Packed with lots of beef and good stuff! Fishcake Kimbap ($8.50) - also great. Costs a tiny bit more, but it's a larger tray. Pollock Pancake ($8.50) - basically mini fish omelettes. These are great, but mildly flavored. We made a soy-sesame dipping sauce at home for these. DH loves them and ate 6! Japchae ($7.00) - glass noodles with onions, carrots, wood ear mushrooms. Very good! Noodles were soft and well seasoned. Everyone loved these. Doesn't look like much in the tray, but it's dense and a great value! Stir Fried Fishcake ($6.50) - thin strips of savory fish cake. These are great too. Lots of flavor. Canola ($6.50) - these are veggie stems, sort of like pea sprouts or spinach. They're cold and a bit salty. We like them a lot. Bibimbap veggie mix ($8) - bean sprouts, carrots, pickled radish, gochujang chili paste. This is the topping that goes on Korean stone pot rice. Easier than chopping all that veg yourself! Seaweed Salad ($6.00) - sweet and salty, tastes just like the stuff at Japanese restaurants. Chicken Wings ($12.00) - they also had a spicy version. This one was really good, but there's not a lot of pieces. Flavor is intense and quite sweet. Garlic, honey, soy, sesame based glaze. Beef Bulgogi ($22.00) - not pictured, because it needs to be cooked first. There's a chicken version too for $16. Overall, a spectacular deal for Korean food. Give it a try! read more

The kimbap was okay in my opinion, but I'm also not a huge fan of kimbap so if you're a huge fan you would love it. The tteokbokki and fish cake soup were super cheap, but the rice cakes weren't chewy enough and the sauce didn't have much flavor.
