Okay, I could have sworn I've left a review on Mustards before but it was just suggested to me so clearly, I missed this one! I work in Downtown Melbourne, this is my absolute favorite lunch spot. It's fairly fast, super affordable, fun atmosphere, great drinks, both the outdoor + indoor seating are nice, and it's dog/puppy/pet friendly! If you're vegetarian like me (+ possibly vegan? not 100% tho) there's food for you too! Their veggie dog is SO GOOD and can be used for any of their custom dogs! My favorite is the Veggie Hula Dog (no bacon). Love their buns! Another major bonus for me, the owners care about the town/community and environment and seem to always be looking for ways they can be better, tweaking their restaurant practices and encouraging others to do so as well! They're true leaders imo. Like when they switched to paper straws and organic cola, they later shared about how they made the switch on facebook and encouraged other businesses to make the switch as well, explaining the logistics. Sure people can argue that there are bigger environmental issues than straws and that it's a small change in the grand scheme of things... but isn't that the point? If everyone made small changes it would have a great impact? Also, with the Indian River Lagoon yards away and the beach just a mile, I'm glad they're thinking about the impact things like trash could have on our home. Oh my gosh! I can't say enough good things about this place! There's a rather extensive menu and the combination of hot dogs and toppings goes on and on. One thing you MUST get is the potato pancakes; perfectly seasoned and served with applesauce and sour cream. My visiting grandsons went to Mustard's EVERY DAY, even on days we were grilling...hot dogs. I'm partial to the chili cheese dogs but they had the Downtown Dog(bacon cheese tomato and mayo) the 49er (potato pancakes, chili,onions, bacon spicy Siracha) and too many more. This was the worst display of customer service I've ever experienced. I made an order an was given the completely wrong order. The cashier/counterperson proceeded to raise his voice that I was wrong. Mustards has been a local place in Melbourne for many years. I stopped in twice in two days and have tried serval different dogs. I have eaten the MORK (mustard, onion, relish & Ketchup). I have eaten the Sauerkraut Dog with mustard, the frankenchips (chips, feta, garlic, pesto). I have also had the footling with chili cheese and mustard and the regular fries with cheese and garlic. Everything I have eaten was fantastic. It's a small place with limited seating inside but they do have a patio area and a couple tables behind the business. My wife loves the Boston and my son and daughter-in-law always go for the Snoop Dog. This place is the real deal and I highly recommend giving it a try. You'll become an immediate fan. They have a smart phone App, but don't get too excited. The staff doesn't do much to help explain how the reward program works, or honoring VIP offers. I tried to use the "A Dog for a Dog" offer which is basically a BOGO offer, but the cashier insisted that the offer was for a free hot dog for your pet dog! The chili cheese dog was pretty tasty, and I finished it very fast. The fries were also good, but the ones at the bottom were very salty, so it was hard to finish the tray. This is such a fun, hip, divey spot in downtown Melbourne! The dog toppings don't stop here, you can practically get anything on your dog you'd want. They have some AMAZING combinations. Being from Illinois, I had a Chicago style dog. It was outstanding. The only thing they got "wrong" was the color of the relish, which is typically a bright green. Which is simply aesthetics, it was a fabulous dog. My husband got the Nebraska dog, which is topped with sautéed onions, Italian beef, bacon, and BBQ sauce, and he got the Firecracker dog, which has sriracha, garlic, and French fries. He says two thumbs up on both. I tried both and they were both very flavorful! They do half orders of their fried sides, so we got a half order of chili cheese fries and half order of onion rings. This is one of the best places to get a hotdog, ever. They have more hotdog styles then you can count, and they give more fries then you can eat. Bring a shovel. The only thing I would say is stay away from anything garlic unless you REALLY like garlic. If you REALLY like garlic, then ignore that last sentence and prepare for your pipe dream come true. They also have brats which look excellent! The atmosphere is awesome, but keep in mind the restaurant is in the smaller side so I would recommend keeping your party under 4 people.
