Normally, I dread going to the DMV more than getting a root canal. Typically, the attendants at the Camino Entrada office are surly and ill-mannered - and that's on a good day. They are so mean, they could make a hatemonger like Ann Coulter break down in tears. So, this time, I decided to go to MVD Express for my Real ID driver license update and my teenage daughter's Real ID provisional license. Despite not having the correct proofs of residency, the staff helped me for half an hour locate the proper state-mandated proofs of residency documents, and they did so with a genuine friendliness and patience that surprised me. I was able to bring up various documents from the cloud on my smartphone, and when I found the ones that the state would accept, the assistants at MVD Express provided an email address to mail them to so that they received them right away, saving me an hour round trip home and back as well as scanning and copying fees. Another plus: I never had to wait more than two minutes for someone to answer my many questions despite going back and forth from the desk to my chair. The office was well-staffed, and during the time I was there, people were assisted almost as soon as they walked through the door. The nicest one by far was Dima. At the end of a long day and workweek, she maintained a sunny disposition, and despite how long the process took to upload our documents, she chatted with us amiably and celebrated each document's successful submission with a cheerful "awesome!" She understood how stressful the whole Real ID process was, so her positive attitude made a big difference. About 45 minutes and $40 later, my daughter and I bade Dima farewell and left MVD Express with our temporary licenses and a smile. Getting your federal Real ID driver's license requires a lot of organization, preparation, and patience. And that's just the part BEFORE you get to the DMV. Make your experience a painless one rather than a traumatic one and skip the state DMV offices. Make a beeline for MVD Express instead. You'll be glad you did. It is more than worth the small fee to be treated with respect. read more

Lady behind the counter at check-in turned away 3 people in front of me stating they don't know how to check-in properly. When i attempted to check-in, it stated no appt found, despite my confirmation texts indicating which window to proceed to. Then tells me they cannot accommodate my appt for another 1-1-5hrs All for a VIN check. (10min process). Stay away from the check in lady. read more

When I brought my mom here about five months ago we were seen almost immediately, and the lady who helped us was very friendly and nice. I brought my dad here a few months later and the line was out the door. I was told there was always 45 minute wait now, minimum, even if you got there right when they opened. I wasted two trips here just to be turned away when I had the actual documents stated on the website. It was infuriating and they are no help whatsoever. A waste of time. Long wait, young poorly trained staff, small parking area, lazy manager, and stark surroundings make this location difficult to tolerate. Add to that, they are severely understaffed. The best location of MVD Express has been in ABQ on Paseo del Norte and the one on Menaul in the heights. However, the Santa Fe location is substandard. The older receptionist appeared to have a hangover and headache. The staff would talk and take a break between every client, contributing to the lag in service. They ask for $45 as a service fee. This is to contribute to their business as a more convenient service than official MVD. There is one young man working here who is very good at his job and kindly helps his colleagues. But when you must deal with slightly less ignorance and more impatience of the business staff, is the $45 worth slightly less aggravation and irritation? Services rendered are untimely, slightly misinformed which will in turn make you visit repeatedly for more wasted time. Perhaps someone can come up with an MVD Express Expedited Extra Fast. I'd pay an extra amount to $45 if they were truly quicker. read more

This is absolutely the worst tax office I have tried to work with in all of the counties in the state of New Mexico. With consideration to my line of work in dealing with MVDs all over the state, don't waste your time here and handle it another way if possible. read more

Worst customer service I've ever experience, the works absolutely don't care for your time or if they are even on time. I had an appointment for 2:15 and only at 2:50 were they serving the person for the 2pm appointment and didn't even consider telling anyone in the building what was going on. Waste of time and a waste of space. Just go to the normal MVD, they have more than 2 workers and will actually care to service you. Hope the state looks into all that wasted money soon read more

I tried to make an appointment over the phone and was told they only take walk ins, therefore I drove over and signed into the kiosk with a 4 hour wait. I did receive a link to track my place in the queue. My appointment time was 4:30pm. At around 3:30pm I noticed my appointment time moved to 4:15pm. As I was walking to the door at 4:10pm my appointment time was changed to 4:08pm and my appointment was cancelled. I walked in and spoke to 2 employees at the front counter and explained the situation along with showing them my text that I was next in line. Both ladies were extremely rude and said because I had not been inside the door at 4:08pm there was nothing they could do. I said I could wait and they said they were no longer taking appointments. I will never be back to this location nor will I recommend to anyone. read more

Save yourself all the money because they're the real express service I went in there. It took me less than 15 minutes when I went to MVD express I was waiting two hours. They were shortstaffed. Marcos was eating when he had just came in. It was yet I just don't understand this place super unprofessional. If you're looking to get your real ID go to Albuquerque on San Mateo they will help you far faster and way better. This place needs to be revamped with new management and better people who act like they're too good to help anybody else read more

I recently had my purse stolen after moving to a neighboring state. Based on what I read, I concluded two things : I would be able to get my DL same day AND, I could bundle services and get my missing vehicle title, just paying one fee. I drove nearly four hours to location. The idea being I would not have to worry about mailing issues this time. In the end I realized that the ONLY convenience is ( quote) " well, you get to avoid waiting at DMV". So- for the EXACT same service ( including weeks while you wait for the MAILED copies), instead of paying $10.30 or so per ID or document you pay that PLUS $42 ( including a $2.35 fee)!! AND you pay it PER request ...meaning the DL and title replacement would run OVER $100!!! My Advise: make an appointment at DMV to avoid the wait and save yourself grocery money!! Manager insisted that I must pay a more than 500.00 "excise" fee on top of the more than 700.00 sales tax I paid in Scottsdale AZ for a vehicle I was bringing back to register in Santa Fe. I confirmed what the Scottsdale dealer told me at time of sale on the phone while the MVD manager tried to talk over my phone conversation with the dealer loudly insisting the I had to pay the excise on top of the sales tax. I called the dealer in Scottsdale and verified that I had paid all sales tax at time of sale and no taxes were left to be accessed in NM because like most states AZ and NM have a arrangement called reciprocity to settle sales tax on vehicles purchased in one state and registered in another. The dealers finance officer confirmed my understanding and offered to send a document outlining reciprocity under these circumstances. While I was standing in front of the clerk and the manager on the phone hearing confirmation from the dealer the MVD manager was trying to talk loudly over my call with the dealer insisting that I absolutely had to pay NM tax or I wasn't going to be able to register the vehicle in NM. Well I told him I wasn't going to argue with him but instead I was going straight to the state MVD office to get the honest truth directly, as I gathered up all my insurance, bill of sale, temp registration etc he loudly " good luck over there they are going to make you pay the fee too!" Long story short, the state MVD was completely aware of the reciprocity tax arrangement and looked my bill of sale and stated that the sales tax was paid at time of sale and I owed no tax of any amount sales or excise and set an appointment former bring my docs back next week because the see persons by appointment. Couldn't have been more knowledgeable or helpful. Lesson learned on where to do my business hereafter. read more

No no no no no. There is a reason this place is never busy. The surcharge for using the express is already a deterrent. $80 for a new ID - NO Thank you. Not only that, the staff is rude and talk About their "private matters" out loud for everyone to hear. And on top of that after waiting for my ID they had printed my date of birth on my ID incorrectly when I received it... and I was the ONLY customer in there. Stunned by total indifference of staff. I needed to make a change in my title so I called the number on their website to make sure I brought the correct documents. The person on the phone actually read the requirements to me and we discussed exactly what I would need. In this office they completely disavowed the info provided on the phone and acted like I should know better than to follow their advice. Waste of time. We moved from out of state and California's license renewals, even with an appointment (which can take over 15 phone calls to make) can still be a long ordeal. I was NOT looking forward to getting a new license here. A friend suggested MVD Express; what a breeze! A wait of about 15 minute, working with a very polite employee for about 15 minutes, it was done. I'm sold; will only go here from now on! read more

Do not even bother. For a service that is supposed to SAVE time, it has consistently wasted my time in the two times I have visited. The first time, we went through the entire process to get my driver's license and car registration (photo and all) - with all paperwork approved - and upon completing it, their system could not scan my passport which they told me 'ha sometimes that happens, our system gets an error'. There was nothing they could do so they sent me away with nothing completed. They told me maybe if I came back another time it would work. On the second visit, I brought the same paperwork. The woman refused to process it because she said I needed to 'open a local bank account at a local bank' in order to become a resident (I'm originally from New York). Nowhere on their website (nor when I called to confirm the documents needed) does it say this - neither does the MVD. It only says I need a recent bank statement showing that it was mailed to the current local residence (which I had). She argued with me about this before I finally left. There is no law that you must have a 'local branch' bank account to become a resident of a state. I have Bank of America and there is no reason for me to change my bank when there are local Bank of America branches in New Mexico. Not only did I waste two visits there, but a 45 min drive to and from each time. Do yourself a favor and just go to the MVD DIRECTLY! WHAT A JOKE. read more

I could've pulled up something else on my phone had they time to mention any other possibilities. We had the best experience recently at MVD and were pleasantly surprised. The wait was minimal. The facility was clean. The young man who checked us in was polite and friendly. Fanny, our clerk, turned out to be the office manager and expertly helped us through the process of getting my brother's license application completed and processed. I had an appointment made weeks prior and still had to wait three hours to be seen, while I watched others without one get help within 5-8 minutes upon entry. The receptionist claimed it was because I never heard my name called, yet I looked up at the screen (I purposely sat in view of the TV queue) every 10 minutes during my time there and never saw my name on it even once. Therefore it would be rather impossible to miss hearing my name since I was never even entered in the queue. When confronted, my name on the TV was misspelled (which is interesting since she needed my ID to copy from to add to her queue list), and she did this to another lady too, so not just a one time thing. The lady who helped me in the end however, Jackie, was very nice and professional, and got me through rather quickly. I am thankful for her obvious veteran experience as well as kindness throughout the process, especially for the miscalling of my name (not her fault, obviously). I know things are rough in these times and I was definitely more than courteous when I first got there, but some kind of attention to detail in an office as important as this, especially when I specifically mentioned I had an appointment when checking in (I came half an hour early for it), is still something needed. I was prepared for at least an hour long wait with the pandemic going on, but not for the lie as to why I was waiting that long in the first place. Anyone else would have left, but not all of us can afford the time off for these things, which is why I waited as long as I had. read more

To start-I came to get my drivers license and I got it, so I don't want to complain too much. If Covid was not going on I would probably rate this place 2 or 3 stars, but I am assuming much of the problems are due to the pandemic. Ok so, I drive 3 hours to MVD express (tried to call but could never get through), arrive at 2 pm, and I am told that the wait is 4 hours and they close at 5. The lady tells me to try to come back the next day around 7am to line up. I have to get a hotel room so that I am able to get there by 7. I get there around 7:10 am and there are approximately 15 people ahead of me. Two hours go by slowly and they finally open up. By the time I get to the front of the line I am told there will be a 1.5 hour wait until its my turn. Everyone is waiting outside with no shade and with our masks on. Also this place has a huge ant issue outside, I had to constantly walk around to not get bit, but I still did. 1.5 hours go by even slower, but I finally get in. The lady helping me was very nice, wish I remember her name. The process took around 30 minutes. Like I said, if it was normally like this (and i'm not sure if it is) I would leave a bad review. It is expensive. $80 for my license and $80 for my hotel (but that was my fault..just go early) **tip for everyone going: GO ON THEIR WEBSITE AND FIND OUT WHAT DOCUMENTS YOU NEED BEFOREHAND. Seriously-it's not that hard. I can't tell you how many people threw a fit because they did not bring the right stuff, and how many people held up the line because they had to search their phone or go to their car. They can't tell you the fee they are going to charge to do the transaction. They want me to bring my car in before they will quote me a transaction charge. Carmina had in her mind that she was not going to tell me what extra amount they charge for the transaction on top of whatever fees the state charges. Best to go to the "real MVD on the Southside even though this one is more convenient. The State of NM should not allow this business to operate in their name and under their authority. read more

Trip 1 - (9:00 am) arrived at MVD Express in Santa Fe (about a 45 minute drive) to obtain tag and title for a recently purchased used car. Brought with me the required documents - previous title, proof of insurance, NM DL. After waiting about 30 minutes, I was finally called to the desk. Was told that the title was signed over incorrectly and that I now needed an Affidavit for Correction (which needed to be notarized) and Bill of Sale. Left to take care of these two things. Trip 2 - (11:30 am) returned to MVD Express with new documents. After another 30 min wait was called to the desk. This time, everything was filled out correctly, but because the seller had signed it in blue ink at the notary, was told that it was invalid and had to be redone. Infuriated, left a second time to redo this. I have now made two 90 minute round trips to Santa Fe and back. Trip 3 (3:30 pm) Arrived at MVD Express a third time. After another 30 min wait am called up to the desk. This time all documents are in order. Vehicle inspection commences. I am asked where the sticker on the inside of the door is that indicates the mileage (huh?) No problem but they have to check it manually. Return to desk inside. after another 10-15 minutes, am approached by a supervisor who now tells me that they can't continue the registration because the information on the previous title does not match what is in their computer and so has to be verified/corrected et by an agent from the state office. 4:45 - Leave MVD Express after a wasted day and over 300 miles of driving back and forth and still have no tag or title for the car. DO NOT GO THERE!!!!we went there because the MVD was closed because of Covid. We wanted to transfer our 5 autos into the name of our fam trust. We were there for over 6 hours . The employees we're not trained in how to do this simple task and made mutable mistakes in our title transfer. We had to go back 5 times and it still was not correct. After transferring our title from our names to our Trust name they neglected to notify us that we had to register our vehicles in the new name. We drove around for 6 monthe before we noticed our vehicles were not registered. We had to go back again. It was a nightmare. read more

My partner and I just moved in from out of state, and wanted to get our tags, titles, licenses, and registration taken care of. They informed us that it would be a $35 charge *per transaction*. For us, that would've amounted to over $200, and that's on top of the state fees. That is an outrageous amount of money to charge per transaction. They even wanted to charge us a fee for inspecting our vehicles. It is for this reason that I give this business a one- exorbitant prices. read more

After taking over an hour (with no line) just to get through the simple matter of registering my car I received a letter from my insurance company saying that this MVD Express had registered another vehicle instead of the one they inspected and I was attempting to register!! This error was probably due to all the childish nonsense going on between the "teens" running the front desk here. Where are the adults in this location who actually know what they're doing?? What a terrible waste of time and a LOT of money. GO to the the regular DMV and don't pay through the nose for bad service at this location! read more
