This is the third time I am amending this review. I had been trying to cancel my account with this company for several weeks, had phoned them several times, and emailed them twice with no response from them. I initially gave them a one-star review because I was sooo frustrated that I could not reach a human being in billing. All you can contact is a message machine. Their technical service was fine. They did a great job. The reason I'm leaving has nothing to do with their service. I purchased a new laptop and when I did that I also purchased online service through Office Depot for that new laptop. My issue came about when I could not make contact with the MCW billing department to cancel. Finally, I did receive an email that my account had been closed. Well, it appears My Computer Works somehow masked or deleted my previous review..... fights on. If I could give a negative review for this company I would. Absolutely unacceptable in every level. I asked for help to strengthen my WiFi signal in one corner of my house. All I needed was help in activating a boaster I had already bought. I finally had to ask the gentlemen to leave when not only did he not improve the signal but he further degraded it to intermittent throughout the house. Worse by several magnitudes than when he first walked in. Now the worse part I called several times to speak to the owner about the charge.... the lady on the phone kept telling me that her supervisor would call me back..... crickets never a call back. They did however charge me for the house call + 200.00. Without ever giving me the courtesy of a call back. I have filed a complaint with the Arizona Better Business Bureau and the Arizona Corporation Commission. Both agency's told me that they will be delayed to respond directly until the COVID-19 crisis abated to some lower level. I would never recommend anyone to use My Computer Works, Inc. services. This company's representatives cheat on its customers by charging them for work that has never been performed. On 04/01/2021, I called My Computer Works, Inc. and requested services on site. Chris, a rep, got my credit card info and told me that the company was charging a $ 137 flat rate for the technician visit. I agreed to pay this amount. Then, a retired computer technician Jacob came to my home. As soon as he entered, he pulled his mask off, and his nose and mouth were not covered. After looking at my computer, Jacob told me that there was too much work to be done, and he refused to do anything at the price previously provided to me by Chris. Then, he left after giving me a lecture on how I should behave and talk to him. I called My Computer Works, Inc. and reported the issue related to the work not being performed and the violation of CDC Covid-19 guidelines by Jacob. I have also told them that their charge will be reported to my bank as fraudulent. Chris said that he offered me an HOURLY rate and would send me a recording of our phone conversation on 04/01/29021 as a prove. He never did. They charged me anyway without any apologies. If there were negative numbers available for this rating I would certainly have used them. The customer service or i should say lack of customer is / was horrific. I asked if they could come out and take a look at a corner of my house that was intermittent in its ability to receive a WiFi signal......I had even purchased a WiFi extender/booster and had asked if they could help set it up. The technician arrived at the appointed time (some credit due there) and immediately began to brainstorm a better way of making the WiFi signal stronger in the specified area. He tried several options with no improvement and actually less of a signal than what I started with.... to the point that when he finally gave up my internet service to the entire house was intermittent and significantly worse than when he first entered the house...... Even with that, that's not the main concern...... I called the office at My Computer Works to express dissatisfaction with the condition their company left my internet capability. I asked to speak with a supervisor reference what their charge was going to be based on the fact that not only did they not fix the original issue, but at the end of the day it was significantly worse than when they first arrived. Their 250.00 visit charge was a bit steep but understandable and accepted when i made the appointment.....however upping the charge to 450.00 seemed excessive given that it was worse than when they first showed up......They said they would have a supervisor call me.........its now been over a week and half and they have still bot called nor returned the numerous messages I have left.... I noticed today they processed my credit card for 400.00 dollars, again without calling to discuss with me....... I would caution anyone that conducts business with My Computer Works...... Unacceptable customer service on so many levels...... I will file a complaint with the BBB and Arizona Corporation Commission...... You cannot treat people like this. First, let me begin by saying I would give the computer support aspect of this company an A+. However, about a year and a half ago, after using the computer technical support services a few times, I was strong armed into buying a monthly service. This service allowed me to use the tech support service as many times as needed at no additional cost. I should have listened to my gut, but I went ahead and agreed to the monthly package. I was then billed $39 a month while never needing the computer tech support again. So here's where the problem began. After all the money going down the drain I finally decided to take action and called to cancel the monthly package. I called 5 days in a row, several times a day. No one ever picked up. I left multiple voice mail messages including name and contact information. I sent emails with my contact information. On the 5th day, I finally got a call back from a billing/customer service manager. Her surprisingly short and curt response was "sorry, I'll cancel your service." When I asked what took so long to get a call back, she said she had my wrong phone number. When I said this was very hard to believe given the number of times I left messages, and she couldn't have tried too hard to reach me, she had nothing to say. I said my effort to reach anyone in the company was well over the top in my experience. She was again speechless. Not an ounce of empathy. When I asked if a disingenuous apology is the best this company could do, given my years of being a customer and that I still wanted to use the service but just not pay for a monthly service, she advised there was a cheaper "less premium" package. At that, I thought this is one of the worst customer care experiences I've had in a long time. First, I know I was never offered a tiered package when I was first told about a monthly plan. But also, why did I have to throw a fit in order to get a cheaper option? Sorry, I think you have to take a company's customer relations experience into account when rating a company and whether to recommend it to others. It's gotta be the whole package. read more

I would give zero stars if possible. I've used My Computer Works several times, for convenience. I've questioned some of their conclusions with past issues, but had mostly been satisfied. A couple of times, the problem was resolved using a "bandaid. For example, my Brother wireless printer wasn't working. We spent several hours on the phone and he couldn't get it to work. He said that they don't recommend Brother because of problems like this and if I wanted to continue using the printer, I would have to get a printer cable because my printer didn't have any other type of connection. I bought the cable and I bought a new printer a few weeks ago. This review is not related in any way to the Brother printer issue. I had a horrible experience yesterday with both the online tech, as well as the on-site tech. The story is too long and detailed to relate here. This is a advice to you. Technology today is fraught with problems and the products are of a lesser quality than in the past. Pay the extra money up front for an extended warranty. If repairs are required, find a local reputable company to work with, even if it's a little less convenient. In addition to the My Computer Works monthly subscription fee of $39, I will probably be charged between $600-$700 for the tech visit yesterday, plus my new printer was over $400. My laptop is 3 years old. I rarely use it. Had I known how long the tech was going to be here that long, I probably would have purchased a new laptop. Their onsite charges are $247 for the first two hours, then $137 per hour after that. One other note. I received a survey from My Computer Works this morning in my email. The first question is within the email. Once you click on the corresponding number, it launches a survey in your browser. I was looking forward to filling it out. I clicked on the number, it launched my browser. Rather than the rest of the survey coming up, there was a response that said "It appears that we have already received your survey results. Thank you." My guess is that they pulled the survey, because they knew that they wouldn't receive a good review from me. I guess that that's their way of manipulating the numbers to make them look like people are satisfied with their service. read more

After calling around to many closed , unavailable, computer repair businesses I found My Computer Works on here. To my relief they were able to diagnose and fix my issue right online. Over the weekend I had helpful technicians who were patient and, who i thought. resolved my issues. I gave them a 5 star rating... since then I've had the same, if not worse, computer glitches. The issues were never resolved and even the new "MCW" icon they inserted to my desktop continues to tell me that I need to let my technician know it's not working. They were able to fix my laptop (broken hard drive, he was able to recover all the files / mp3s / pictures) AND fixed my iphon4 (screen cracks) at the same time. I just filed a complaint with the BBB over MCW's business practices. Our firm was hired to first quote, and then perform, a full network installation in the Southern California area. Two techs were dispatched to the site, completed the work, including one out-of-scope task involving assembly of a network rack, and did so under budget, despite the fact that the techs did NOT have unencumbered access to the office (as a business meeting in the conference room disrupted their efforts). At the end of the job, MCW has refused to pay for $350 worth of time because (in their opinion), time spent to go off-site and procure an adequate back panel for the network rack does not constitute "billable time". Total job (including materials) was approx $1250 - MCW wishes to dock 30% ($400) from that total. BEWARE of these people - their ethics are questionable at best - simply look at the BBB and Consumer Affairs website for additional compliants. read more

I've been using My Computer Works for a number of years now, so obviously I've been a fan. However, I pay for Executive service which is supposed to guarantee a call back within 30 minutes. Two of the last three times I've called, it has taken over 2 hours to get a call back. I do get a free month of service added to my contract, but I want the service I was promised. In July of this year (2018) my wife and I had a problem with our computer. Since we are both disabled we wanted to try and get it fixed over the internet.We found a prominent ad from My Computer Works and called them to see if they could help. They said they could but it would cost us $69.95 upfront! We paid with our debut card and they ran their tests. Unfortunately, they told us they couldn't fix it and that we needed a new one.We told them we could not afford one right now, but they insisted that they could help us maintain the new one when we got it for only $29.95 a month. We told them we would call them when we got a new one and ended the call. We had to move from where we were and didn't get a place to live until November and we still don't have a computer. Much to our shock however My Computer Works took out 3 $29.95 payments for computer maintenance on a machine we didn't have. When we called the company and asked them for our money back the rude guy we talked to just blew us off. We are contact the Federal Consumer Protection Agency, the Better Business Bureau, our state Attorney General and anyone else we can to get our money back. This is fraud and we are simply cautioning anyone who will listen, especially seniors to stay away from this company! read more

Today I was having problems with Windows Upgrades not downloading properly on my computer. They ran a scan, found a couple of viruses which they removed, and were able to download all the Windows upgrades that were necessary, even though they had to do them one at a time and it was very tedious for them! I had an issue in September 2018 with my HP All-In-One PC. It wouldn't boot up and I could not find my restore disc. The tech at MCW talked like he was stoned, very slow with long pauses in between. I gave him the info he asked for and his response was, 'Ugg all in one pc's have a tendency to do this, your better off buying a new PC'! He said he was escalating to tech 2 - NEVER got a call back in over a week. I took it down the street to my local PC repair shop and they had me up and running in 1 day! REALLY? The solution from MCW was to buy a new computer?? Second issue, I cancelled our service for 2 computers after this instance due to lack of professionalism and being unresponsive - they never answer the phone, you have to email and leave messages and HOPE they call you back. This is January 3, 2019 and I just got billed AGAIN!! Left ANOTHER message and sent yet ANOTHER email requesting to CANCEL and refund fee's from back to September 2018. read more

I was put in touch with My Computer Works through Home Advisor. It was a Friday late in the day and they had a representative out here that very evening. The person they sent was a networking engineer and knew everything about everything!. ATT/DTV had explained to me that the loss of my computer (hard wired) internet connection was due to a computer issue and not their modem because I still had wi/fi function. So..having to have my computer asap, enter.."Richard". He discovered the issue was indeed on the ATT/DTV end and the ports were fried. He even talked to their customer service for me and explained that the problem was theirs and that they has cost me money by their ineptitude!! So...they sent me a new modem, MCW sent me an invoice (very, very, reasonable by the way) and ATT/DTV has agreed to credit my account with the charges incurred due to their error.
