Thomas Barton is a rare breed. I called and left a message about my family member's laptop running terribly slow. He called back very soon and, at no charge, Facetimed to see how the computer was running. (He could have diagnosed through remote access but the computer was too slow for that). When I say that Thomas is indeed a Computer Wizard, I say it with complete confidence and a 30-year computer background in IT training, management, and development. My Experience After retiring 7 years ago, I moved on to other things and never kept up my computer skills. So when I purchased a computer on auction only to find that it was password protected and no one who could share that password with me, my outdated skillset left me with a fully functional, really awesome, yet useless machine. That's when my search for assistance began. I quickly passed on the higher-name-recognition, logo-on-the-polo-shirt adorned technician type companies. Their fees are outrageous just to pull up to your house and talent tends to vary wildly. Instead, I was drawn to Computer Wizard - singular. The name alone screamed confidence. And his star rating was impressive. I called and left a message and Thomas returned my call within 15 minutes ( #1). I explained my issue, asked if he could help, and if he would provide me with a ballpark estimate. Without hesitation, he said yes, gave me a VERY reasonable estimate, and scheduled a visit for the following day ( #2). The following morning, he sent a text with an appointment confirmation and another when he was on his way. He arrived a bit early ( #3). He successfully completed the tasks at hand ( #4). I must say, I was becoming concerned about the bill since he was forced to patiently wait on countless updates. However, I was pleasantly surprised when, after hours of work, he charged me precisely what he had quoted ( #5). But the story doesn't end there... 2 days later, Thomas called me. He explained that due to those time consuming updates, he was unable to perform additional optimization functions that he had really wanted to complete. He asked if he could pick up my computer and do this additional work at his home, AT NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE! He picked up the computer at 3pm and, at 6pm, he returned it with some additional drivers, fully optimized, and wicked fast (an additional 3 s! I need 3 more stars!)! I don't write a lot of long winded reviews like this but there are times when such a thing is called for. He was prompt and in communication of his arrival time. I told him I had purchased the desktop out of box (Legion), but when I went to fire it up a beeping sequence occured. I told him I looked it up on the internet and it said the beeping had to do with the RAM sticks. I myself tried to remove them and then reinsert, but I had a problem. He discovered that one of the RAM sticks was faulty, he looked up the RAM sticks required and went to Best Buy to pick them up and then installed them. BEWARE! He did nothing to fix my Printer or my laptop. He took my laptop and a week later left it on my doorstep in pieces. When i took it to a repair shop they put it back together however it was missing the screws to hold parts back in. When tried to put back of laptop back on he messed it all up by supergluing the back on! He quoted me $100 for serving both which i agreed to. Then he charged me $309.00 When i contacted him he tried saying due to distance he had to drive. That was his choice not mine. I would not have agreed. Then i asked him to rectify situation i would give him $100 Only . He refused and blamed it on another technician, so I have stopped all payments to him.
