My 27" IMac had the spinning wheel of death, so I have my IT cousin come out to see if he can help me. After spending all afternoon and eventually bringing it home with him, he called me and said I'd probably need a new hard drive. He's mostly a PC guy, and didn't want to take on changing out my hard drive, so he checked around and told me to give My Emergency Guy a call. I brought it in to Phillip and he said they'd start with Data Recovery and he'd let me know if I needed the hard drive. He called me 2 days later and confirmed I needed it, and initially I asked for 1 terabyte but later decided on 2 terabyte since it wasn't that much more. My IMac was ready 2 days later, and I am happy to have it back so soon (Apple Store would have taken much longer), and for a good price (Apple Store would have been much more). read more

I would give to this business 20 stars if I could. I was in the process to update my IPad 3 when suddenly the screen went black with this iTunes logo on the front. Some files got corrupted during the update. It just freezes, with my precious data. Mainly videos and pictures extremely important for me. I did some research so the only way to correct this was connect my IPad to my computer and restore it to factory settings, which means wipe off EVERYTHING ok now I was extremely mad and frustrated. I got an idea, take my tablet to the "experts" the Apple Store. I explain my dilemma, solution wipe off my data. I said can you do something WITHOUT erasing my data?. Answer, There is nothing We can do about it, just restore it to a factory settings. Ok forget it. I went to Yelp found "My emergency guy" explain my problem. The guy told me. I can not guarantee it but I will try to recover your videos and pictures. 1 hr later he called and said your IPad is ready for pick up and your data is and a flash drive. These guys are professional, competent and HONEST. I thought I had a dead battery on my iPhone. They could have easily affirmed my diagnosis and charged me for its replacement. In reality, debris had gotten into the charging socket, thus preventing the phone from being charged. It took them a couple of minutes to scrape the debris out, confirm that it now was charging, and then hand me the phone back. Pardon the pun, but they fixed the problem at no charge to me. They also do tablet repairs and restore data from damaged hard drives. Don't hesitate to trust them! EXCELLENT!!!!! read more

My iPhone 5 was dying, and I didn't want to pay the ridiculous price for the new iPhone 6S...so I was looking to get a few repairs done. Specifically needed a new screen, battery, and possibly a charging port. I first looked at using iCracked.com, but wasn't confident in my ability to install a do-it-yourself kit. I then looked at iCracked's repair service, and was about to do business with them but there was a mixup about the timing of the repair. So I ended up here at My Emergency Guy, and I am so glad I did. I came on a weekday to see about getting a dysfunctional keyboard fixed, that was preventing my laptop from turning on. I was in and out of the shop in 30 minutes, without getting charged anything, because the gentleman who looked at my laptop and adjusted a faulty connection between my keyboard and the laptop called it part of the free diagnosis. I had cracked the screen on my iphone 4, brought it to my local phone store where I have been shoveling out way too much money for insurance just to find out that there was a $150 deductible. Great, I should have done my research. Thought all hope was lost, and then this guy came along. YES - he does work out of his apartment, but he's a young and aspiring entrepreneur and I wish him the best of luck on the opening of his future repair shop. He was completely flexible with repair times and even let me sit, watch and ask annoying questions as he repaired my phone within 20 minutes. It was amazing. This place is first rate. Honest, reasonably priced, very intelligent and skilled, and friendly. I base this on two experiences: a broken iPod and a fried MacBook Pro. Perfect results in both cases. He spent considerable time diagnosing my MacBook to confirm that the problem was indeed the logic board. He said the machine was worth fixing, but he was totally honest that the Apple store quote to replace the logic board was a good price and I should do it. He recovered 120gb of files for me at a very reasonable price and didn charge for the diagnostic. The Genius Bar is totally fine, but these GUYS are super. Dont hesitate to use them. read more

spilled water on a two year old mac air, after reading many mac users complain about water damage, we brought the mac hoping the files can be extracted to an external drive. brought it in Friday right before they closed up, received the call next day around mid-day, not only was the file extracted, they fixed the mac up as well with a brand new track-pad. What else to say, they exceeded my expectation, speedy and informative. This is the first time I've used My Emergency Guy and I used them on both an iPhone 5s and my iPad mini retina both with cracked screens. I had a cracked screen before, and traditionally went to Apple that now offers services for cracked screens. The iPhone was done the next day for around $80. Unfortunately, my iPad due to a problem with the logic board (not sure what happened) was told it was going to take a couple of more days to figure out whether it needed to be outsourced or not. Well a couple of days passed and I called back to find out it needed to be shipped somewhere else and it was going to take a week. It took closer to 1.5-2 weeks. Anyways, I was offered an iPad while mines was in service, but I only use my iPad for emails and reading, so I wasn't going to download personal info on someone else's. When my iPad was finally ready, I was asked whether I'd like it to be dropped off at my location. I said I'd pick it up initially, but then changed my mind later, and due to my busy schedule could not arrange a good time, so I picked it up a week later myself and paid $130. Also, because of the new logic board my settings and everything were all gone. Had to re-upload and update everything again. Here's my summary: Customer Service: I would have liked to have heard some more enthusiasm both on the phone and in person. Also, they were not very good at communicating the issue and explaining what happened. I had to pry a bit for answers, which I don't like since I hate being in the dark. I forgot his name, but it seems like there's only one guy doing the work and answering the phone. Quality: It looks and feels just as good as when they were new so no complaints. Timing: The iPhone was quick, but the iPad OMG! Atmosphere: There's no one upfront you can see, and sometimes you're left standing aimlessly looking at their accessory area. Price: Reasonable. Cheaper than apple, and competitive compared to other 3rd parties. In the end, I really hate having to shop for a good service place. I come back to people I trust and who work hard to make things right, especially small businesses. Although I saved $70 (Apple charges $200) I still think more could have been done, but I don't break my phones very often so maybe my expectations are too high? The rating is 3.5 from me. These guys are great. I've used them 3 times so far. My laptop was getting old, and each time something went wrong, I went straight to My Emergency Guy. They are in my neighborhood. Depending on the time of day, you can find parking in front or across the street. I've only gone in the morning (they open at 10AM). You drop your computer off. They call you a few hours later after they've diagnosed the problem, and tell you what it will cost to fix it. Sometimes there are a few options. You decide if you want them to fix it or do something else. The diagnosis is free. I've had them do data recovery, try to fix a jammed audio jack, and a broken keyboard. If they can't fix something, you don't get charged. They're honest and reasonable. Can't ask for more! read more
