They did give me the option to buy the glasses with the free eye exam or to just pay for the exam itself.

My review is with the Optical Department only. Today I was banned from the optical department…read morebecause after 4 tries they can't get me lenses without scratches. It's amazing I can see them but they can't. I have been a patient of Clayton Eye Center for over 33 years. But now that the founder Dr. Smick has retired and the optical department has been outsourced, the service is not like it used to be. They changed the frame supplier and the selection now is overpriced crap. So being banned may just be a good thing. I will still see the doctor for my yearly eye exam but will get my glasses somewhere else. Dr. New took over Dr. Smick's patients when he retired and I really like him.

I can say to the doctors and the other staff is okay, but the people in bill and are ridiculous…read more They're charging before they even build an insurance company, which is ridiculous. And someone needs to really pay attention to that. I'm going to the media, justin farmer to get his help to get my money back that they overcharge me.I help met my auto pocket. And my deductible for the entire year, why was I having to pay eight hundred? And some dollars up front to have a cataract removed from my right eye that is totally ridiculous. No one could justify why these people or horrible when it comes to money . I had to go through my advocacy at the insurance company. They were trying to help me get my money back. Now, I was told yesterday by one of the representatives Melinda, that they submitted the payment, just put it back on my credit card. It's ridiculous, like I say you can't get any one upstairs to help. Watch this place. It's like a meat market. And I don't know how many people they've done like this. And cannot justify the charge. It is totally ridiculous.

Overall, my experience was just okay…read more I did appreciate the pace of the exam it felt efficient and not rushed, which I liked. However, the overall customer service left a lot to be desired. Maybe it was just an off day, but no one seemed very engaged or excited to help me. I understand working on a Saturday isn't always ideal, but as a patient, you can definitely feel the difference in energy. After my exam, I was told I could browse the glasses if I was interested, so I went over specifically looking for the Meta frames. I spent about 30 minutes trying on and looking at options, and not once did anyone approach me to offer help or guidance. As a first-time visitor, I wasn't sure what the process was, and the lack of assistance was frustrating. I was genuinely interested in purchasing a pair, but the experience made me feel like I'd rather spend my money somewhere else.

The first doctor, an older man, who did an eye exam didn't do a proper one. He only tested two…read moredifferent lens settings, neither of which worked, he said OK thank you and handed me a prescription. I went out and completed my order but when the glasses came back I could not see out of them. They were the completely wrong prescription. A young female doctor then did another exam, a thorough one this time. We went out and re-ordered the glasses, but after waiting for them for two weeks, when I called to see if they were in yet, apparently the order had been canceled for some reason. As I write this, the story is not over because I'm waiting a call back to tell me exactly what happened and what maybe we can do to fix the problem. Everyone there is very nice, but nice isn't sufficient if everything's getting screwed up. A couple of hours later: I never got a call back so after a couple of hours, I called back myself. It turns out that in entering the order somebody left out a line of measurements (don't ask me to explain it because I don't understand it exactly). They then said it'd be about a week before I get my glasses now that they've got it straightened out. I asked them to please put me to the front of the line since I've already waited three weeks. They said they'd see what they could do. I looked back through my credit card statement to see what day all this started. October 15 was the original eye exam and purchase of glasses ($349 out-of-pocket - I forget what the insurance portion was). I went to get the new glasses on October 29, only to find out that they had the wrong prescription. It is now November 10 and hopefully now the lab will get to work on my new glasses. Also, I was told that the first doctor that saw me retired right after that and I may have been one of the last people he examined. I'm glad they're all friendly and trying to solve the issue, but geez!
