I wish I had a better review to leave; however, at this point this is not the case. I've been coming to this office for many years, and generally had good experiences up until about two years ago. I came in for my routine exam, and things went as expected. I picked a pair of frames and spent about $300+ after insurance. Again, no complaints. Kat called me to inform me that my glasses were ready for pick up. I went and immediately noticed that the prescription was not correct. I shared this concern at pick up and was told that due to the prescription that I needed to wear them for about two weeks to allow my eyes to get adjusted. I didn't fully understand this because my prescription was the same as it had always been. I complied, and experienced headache and eye aches. I shared this and went back to the location. Again, I was assured that the prescription was current and shouldn't cause me to have any concerns. Instead it was. No resolve, I left to advocate another day. I went home and found my prescriptions from the prior year and current year, I called back and spoke to Kat to share with her my concerns and findings. She found the error, and i stead of apologizing she just took the glasses. The wrong prescription was totally wrong. I left the glasses and came back a few days later to pick them up. Again, I am still having an issue seeing. I shared this again, but was over talked and ignored. I was given the same advice of allowing the eyes to adjust to this situation. After two weeks and same concern I went somewhere else. They were able to find the concern and I spoke with the location and was told I would get a call back. It never happened, time passed and it slipped my mind to follow-up. I did call back months later and was told that although I communicated my concerns of not being able to see, and I was awaiting a response that too much time had passed for them to adjust the prescription. It sucks that I have had to overly communicate, advocate and continuously go back and fourth to get this situation corrected and still no resolve. I shared my concerns at every visit. I brought up the concern and did everything and I am still in a position of losing out money because of this. While I have a good experience at this facility the last two years have been difficult. I am choosing to not patronize going forward. While this is my experience, I share so that you are well informed. read more

I have been going here for 8 years. In fact, I wrote a 5 star review 8 years ago. I'm taking my business elsewhere now. In October of 2022, I got quote from them for a pair of eyeglasses. It was for over $2000! Granted, I picked designer frames, but still. Kat, the optician who has been there for years, and quite frankly has been off-putting since I met her, informed that "after my insurance" my portion would be $1024! I paid it (thinking to myself, I'm never ordering glasses from here again). Anyway, I got my glasses and then a year or so later, I looked at my insurance claims and noticed Framed had not filed a claim with my insurance in MANY years! Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago, I needed to go in to get a new prescription for contacts so I asked about why a claim had never been made on my insurance for my glasses. There were other customers in the lobby and Kat assured me that she certainly did file a claim and that I must be mistaken. At that point she printed a copy of my invoice from 2022 showing me the discounted amounts that my insurance paid. Well, I had a question about something else a couple of days later and emailed them. Kat responded very rudely and told me to ask my insurance. So I did. I called them. I also took that opportunity to ask about any claims Framed had made for reimbursement. Framed hadn't filed for any claims in years. Not even for eye exams! Their fancy invoice accounting sure showed a discount of $1444 on the invoice however! At that point, I told the insurance I wanted to file a complaint against them. She flat out lied to me. When I search for providers from my insurance, Framed is the first one to show up. I don't think that should be the case if they are choosing to not file claims with insurance companies and doing some fancy accounting on invoiced to lead patients to believe that their portion "after insurance" is the cost of what the glasses should be at full cost. I know this because I just ordered my frames directly from the manufacturer and brought them along with my prescription to another vision center to have them filled with all the same technologies I had gotten on my previous frames with Framed. The frames were $565 and the lenses were $500. Mathematically that is $1065 (full price). "After insurance" I paid Framed $1024. Things that make you go hmmmmmm....... Goodbye Framed and Goodbye good reviews. Dr. Harold, you may not have the best beside manner but one of the worst things you ever did for your practice was hire Kat. read more

This is not the place to go if you're sensitive to pupillary center placement. The people are nice enough, but I wouldn't go here again. Ended up not being able to use the glasses. My old job paid for them, otherwise I'd ask for a refund. I don't have the time or energy to trek all the way over there about it. read more

Dr. Herold is awesome! He is patient and takes time to answer any and all questions. He is great with kids (7+) and adults. His office has SUPER fancy and innovative equipment which makes your visit shorter. Amazing staff and a great selection of one of a kind frames.Dr. Harold is friendly and takes his time to explain what he sees and in the simplest terms. He also stresses not to strain the eyes. Reading should feel comfortable. Frames can be expensive because they are so unique if you have insurance it brings the cost to a reasonable cost for one of kind frames. I had an enjoyable experience today at Framed. It is a lovely locally owned shop that's there to serve the community. The location is pretty easy to get to, but parking can be a bit hard to locate. Once inside, the business is very fashionably designed with a nice seating area, attractive displays for the glasses available to try on and purchase, as well as complimentary water. The actual exam room kept the same clean theme as the front waiting area. Dr. Herold was quite thorough and clearly explained every step of the examination. He even asked at the end if I had any questions for him and took time to answer my burning questions. I think I was most impressed with some of the lines that they carry. One line uses recycled vinyl records to create their frames, then there were two other US small businesses that make their frames and donate portions of their proceeds to charities in their areas. All in all, this was a great experience and I'll definitely go back and have already recommended this location to a close friend. Go ahead y'all, after reading this review, and get Framed! read more

I came here because they were close. Dr. Didn't ask about my eye condition like they always do. He's not very knowledgeable. I paid $2,600 for two pairs of bifocals with scratch resistant plus lens going dark in sunlight. After that Sticker shock, I paid it anyway since I need to see. He came out of back and asked how purchase went. I told him I just paid one month's salary for these glasses. He flinched and didn't reply. A reply of well, let's get you into a more affordable pair. No! Did not care I just forked out a Months salary. I'll Never go to this undereducated, overpriced glasses shop again. My prescription was for bifocals and he got the prescription wrong. I see far on the bottom and close on the top. Apparently, someone got the bifocals upside down. I have to take my expensive glasses off to read. This guy only cares about taking your money. Oh! And the scratch resistant has come off after 8 months of wear. Now I can barely see through these glasses. Such a shame. read more

After procrastinating about...uhhhh, I mean prioritizing at a moderately slow pace... getting my eyes examined, I decided to check out Framed Glenwood since it's in one of my favorite neighborhoods. First of all, the interior decorating of this place is beautifully done. For a split second I thought I accidentally stepped into a furniture gallery when I initially walked through the door. Next, Betty at the front desk immediately greeted me with a smile and she was pleasant and helpful the entire time. Finally, Dr. Herold was nothing short of amazing! He was friendly, knowledgeable, patient, and on point. You can tell he is truly passionate and caring. My experience was phenomenal and I actually didn't want to leave because he and Betty were so warm and welcoming. Highly informative and friendly annual eye checkup with Dr. Herold and they stock an impressive amount of fashionable frames. I've been wearing glasses since I was six-years-old. I had surgery in my eyes when I was about seven-years-old; my mom insists to this day it was because I rubbed my eyes after I ate fried chicken and I got a piece of chicken fat stuck in my eye... Dr. Herold informed me it was probably due to a clogged tear duct. Thanks for clearing up a 25-year-old mystery for me! Dr. Herold was very thorough and very informative. He let me know why dilation was essential and answered any questions I had concerning my eyes. Since I could not get dilation this past weekend (I had driven myself), he told me that I could come at any time within the month to get my eyes dilated and checked for any possible issues. Now, onto the frames. They have a very cool selection here! If you're in the market for some unique sunglasses or eyeglasses frames, I highly recommend you to pop on in and talk with Kat. She helped me choose the perfect frame for my face and informed me through all of my options. I ended up switching from my standard square frames to round frames to compliment my face shape and eye shape better. Framed Glenwood offers friendly service and expert advice. Even if you live a bit further out than the neighborhood (outside of East Atlanta), I highly recommend you taking a detour to at least check out their frames selections. read more

This is the second year for my annual eye exam with Dr. Herold. He spent a good amount of time educating me on my eyesight and the changes I can expect in the next few years. He always talks about what is in my best interest and I doesn't try to sell me any extra services/products like other eyecare centers. The receptionist is very patient and thorough in her explanation of the insurance benefits and services they provide. I wish they had more of a selection of eyeglasses, however they gave me my prescription and told me I could take it anywhere to get frames. Again, whatever is in my best interest and not trying to sell me something. Also I discovered I can bring in my old frames from years ago and they can update my eyeglass lenses for me. With few exceptions I find most of modern retail lacking. Minimum wage employees are well trained and decisions all seem to be made at some back office mid western corporate office. This is the case with most if not all chain stores. So I was surprised in Atlanta when I needed an eyeglass repair to my prescription glasses. The staff and proprietor were professional. They fixed my global. They were the only glasses repair place which fixed the glasses without an extensive discussion about them not being responsible if the frames got broken while they were working on them. I sort of feel like the family of the Russian Czars who used to send their clothing 800 miles to be properly laundered. No matter where I am in the world I have an eyeglass repair problem I will end up in person or via mail sharing my glasses with these folks who can absolutely fix them. read more

She also took the time to really breakdown prices and my insurance benefits. Dr. Herold is a fellow Howard grad, so I'm a little biased :) but he's super personable and communicative. I was in dire, sudden need of eyeglass repair mid-afternoon yesterday. I read the great reviews of Framed Glenwood Eyecare and called them. They so kindly asked me to come right in, and they took care of it in a matter of seconds. I stayed a little while and talked with the super-nice folks there and looked around at their frames. They have great stuff! But I guess that's what you'd expect or at least hope to find in this super-cool area of Decatur/Glenwood. Very nice shop. I went to get to my frames touched up since the lenses were popping out. They greeted me as soon as I walked in and asked if they could help me. Once I told them the issue they immediately took me back to fix my frames. They were done in 10 min. No charge, no solicitation to check out their goods. Really wanted to go there because I can literally walk there and wanted to support a local business and not a chain. But the prices here are ridiculously expensive. While most doctors might offer a break (especially in this pandemic time) to people who have lost jobs and insurance, this place will not. Well I don't know if the doctor would not, but I know the staff says they wont. So guess we wont be going, recommending it or become customers. I know many people who live in the neighborhood who wanted to try this doc but who just cant because it's the highest priced eye exam I've ever seen. read more

Dr. Herold is great! Betty is awesome too. I am extremely farsighted and have been in contacts and glasses since I was 13 months old. Framed opened up in my neighborhood so I decided to stop in since I needed a new eye doctor after leaving my last one. Dr. Herold is very patient and kind and explains things very well. He listens to what is important to his patients and does his best to correct vision while keeping his patients happy. He tried me out in 2 new contacts after hearing me out about the price and clarity being both important. After trying dailies, he put me in a toric lens. I fell in love with the toric. These topics are VERY economical as apposed to my last doctor who wanted to put me in a toric that was going to cost $600/year (the reason I left him as I felt he was always trying to overcharge me for things). I really love Framed Glenwood. I live in the neighborhood and it's nice to have an eye doctor so close who cares about his patients. I definitely recommend going here. read more

I had a really bad experience at my last eye doctor. My eyes have changed rapidly inside 4 months. Nothing makes you change eye doctors faster than backing your Porsche into a wall due to the wrong script and 6 week wait on average to get new scripts. I was referred to Framed by a friend. I had my first appointment last week. They have done more, and provided better customer service inside 6 days than my last doctor did in 4 months. I walked out with trials meant to work for me, and the doctor had me wear the contacts for 30 minutes before testing my eyes again to see if they should work as my eyes adapted. I had a follow-up within days, and contacts delivered the next day. Customer service and expertise are both top notch. I highly recommend!!! read more

Dr. Herold and Kat are awesome. They both explained everything - from the reason behind each test to every question I asked. (And I used to work for an optometrist, so I had a few!) Kat worked with me on my insurance and she even volunteered to replace the gross old nose pads on both of my glasses!
