Master Paul and Abbie after black belt ceremony.

My Focus TKD. This school has been a blessing to my family. When my daughter first stumbled onto this school, it was at a local market night. She spun a wheel and won the jackpot: uniform and 4 classes free. Her first class, she was quiet and nervous. When it was over, she cried and told us she didn't want to come back. Master Paul knelt down on her level and spoke with her. She went back. And again. And again. Three years later, she earned her black belt. Master Paul specializes in working with kids. He uses humor to break past nervousness. He is honest but not harsh. He shows his students what he expects and he holds them accountable without being mean or judgmental. What is even more impressive to me, is the impact on his students beyond just the physical. He brings shy students into a place where they feel safe to be open with others. He brings self control to students who I've seen act in very disruptive ways. His students are kind, helpful and respectful. If you have any thoughts of enrolling your kids in martial arts, GO TO MY FOCUS TKD IN YUCAIPA, CA!

Our son has been a student here for almost 2 years. We started him with My Focus TKD at the height of the pandemic, as classes were being held outside at the community park at the time. We have seen him grow in confidence, focus and discipline. Master Paul makes training fun and entertaining. His students love and respect him. We are so happy to be a part of the My Focus family.

This Taekwondo school and Instructor are great!! The Master/Instructor, Master Paul is an experienced practioner, enthusiastic instructor and great teacher. My son received instruction from Master Paul during his time at the Beaumont studio. Now, Master Paul has brought those traditions and skills to Yucaipa with a brand new studio facility, MY FOCUS TKD - Yucaipa. Master Paul is both an excellent teacher and role model to his students. He is patience, engaging and friendly. Instruction for kids AND adults! So much fun!

I am so thankful to have been introduced to this studio! My oldest has been taking classes for 3 years and my younger son was eager to have his turn starting this year. My kids are polar opposites and both manage to love and connect with Master Paul. They have grown in perseverance, confidence, strength, integrity and skill.

If you're a parent looking for a taekwondo school that truly helps kids grow -- not just in skill, but in confidence and character -- this is it. My son started when he was 5, and now at 7, he's a purple belt! Over the past year, he's gained so much strength, balance, and focus... every belt promotion feels like a proud-parent moment. He walks out of every class a little taller and a lot more confident. I actually stumbled on Tempest by accident -- I was walking past the dojang on my way to Redlands Barre (same building!) and saw one of my girlfriends and her son in the Wolf Cubs class. A week later, my son was signed up, and the rest is history! The Tempest team -- Master Terrence, Instructors Minh and Vi, and the rest of the instructors -- go above and beyond for these kids. Classes are fun, challenging, and full of energy. They know how to push the students while still making it feel encouraging and positive. What really makes Tempest special is how much it feels like a family. Instructor Minh is amazing at keeping both parents and kids involved -- she reads out the goals and notes we parents submit so the kids hear that encouragement directly. The team also gives out Taekwondo cards for things like Best Attitude, Courage, Skill, Citizenship, and even special editions for training camps or holidays. It's such a clever way to reward effort and gamify progress! And an unexpected bonus -- taekwondo has made my son a way better soccer player! Something about learning to kick with precision and discipline has carried over to the field. His coordination, balance, and agility have skyrocketed. I swear his soccer game has improved fiftyfold since joining Tempest! Earlier this month, the Tempest team competed in the Orange County Open Martial Arts Championship in Newport Beach, and it was incredible to see how far they've all come. Watching them perform their poomsae together, show power in speed kicks and punches, and beam with pride was pure joy. My son brought home gold, silver, and bronze, and he was so proud of himself -- we were extra extra extra proud of him! We've also made some wonderful friendships through Tempest. Ethan's had playdates and hangouts with fellow students, and we've connected with such great families over the past year and a half. When your kid loves where they learn -- and you love the community that comes with it -- that's something really special. And speaking of community, Tempest organized an awesome camping trip at Silverwood Lake earlier this year -- movie night, Easter egg hunt, campfires, the works. It was such a fun weekend bonding with other families and the instructors who make this place feel like home. Watching our son's journey -- from wobbly white-belt kicks to confident purple-belt poomsaes -- has been one of the most rewarding parts of parenthood. Tempest isn't just about martial arts... it's about confidence, community, and character...on the mat and off.

He started at 4 y/o and just recently moved to intermediate level. Words are not enough to describe the experiences he's had in the last year, but suffice to say that we are extremely happy with the skills he's learned. Master Terrence and all the instructors (especially Alejandro and Lauren) are amazing. Instructors Minh and Vi are friendly and welcoming. The junior instructors are extremely helpful. Tempest has a very inviting and friendly environment with supportive instructors, family members and students. They offer free trial classes so make sure to check them out. If you think you or your child can benefit from the physical and mental discipline it provides, take a chance and join! You won't regret it.

They go a bit beyond and promote citizenship and responsibility as well. I think the owner, master Ben really enjoys his craft and seeing kids grow into it. His level of patience is phenomenal. I'm not sure where his competition levels and accolades are at, but regardless his love and dedication for the sport are what's important. It took my eldest (now 6) almost 2 years to get promoted from white. I initially thought, wtf? They're trying to milk it. But I realized it wasn't that. He wasn't ready at the time (3yrs old) and it would've only held him back as he's progressing Thru the belts. He's now doing pretty well (could do better w more practice at home). My now 3yo was given his first belt pretty quickly and is seemingly lagging behind his brothers progression, but everything ought to come in due time. The one thing that astounds me is Master Ben knows each and every student by name. How he could memorize 100+ active students by name, and know their siblings/cousins as well only goes to show his level of dedication to his craft.

I love taking my child here since it serves as an outlet for his extra energy. Master Simpson has been reinforcing the positive respectful behavior we have been teaching him at home. My son has learned a lot more positive lessons while working in his class group. My child definitely feels sad if he ever misses a practice. I would definitely recommend this Martial Arts group to any parents interested in putting their children into a fun learning environment.
