My husband and I booked one of their beach bungalows because we have had a really stressful year and desperately needed to relax and recharge. Instead of relaxing, we had to deal with urine all over all of the beds, poop on one bed, an ant infestation, and a management company who refuses to make it right with us. We arrived to the beach house at 4:10pm (our booking began at 4:00pm) and maids were still there. They frantically ran around "cleaning" for 15 more minutes while we waited. While we were putting away our groceries walking on just-mopped wet floors, we realized that the kitchen was infested with ants. We had to hide our food (that wasn't in the fridge) in the oven and in the microwave or the ants would get it. If I set a plate down, ants would be on it within seconds. (By the time we left, the ants were crawling up the stairs and made it upstairs too. They were coming in through the window areas. We woke up with them walking on the wall by our bed) We tried to just make the best of it due to how far we drove to get to Galveston, and we couldn't afford to just leave and get a hotel after paying for the beach house. But that night when we were ready to go to sleep in the master bedroom, we pulled the sheets back and found poop smears on the bed. (We know it was poop because of the smell). We slowly realized that the sheets and the entire comforter were also COVERED in urine. In another room, the other adult bed was covered in large pee stains. There was also gross hair on the adult bed sheets, next to the pee and poop. We have attached photos of the poop and pee stains. We reached out to the management company and they told us that they would have someone change the sheets the next day. So me and my husband had to sleep on kids' bunk beds (we didn't realize there was pee on one of them at that time, and SLEPT ON IT). We were staying for 3 nights which means we had two fulls day in Galveston. The first full day was spent following up with the management company demanding sheets that weren't covered in body fluids. (They will not proactively update you on anything or give you any updates.) We had to continuously email to follow up, they did not answer phone calls. Finally we were told that the maids would change the sheets "no later than 2pm" and that they would let us know when they were on their way. The maids arrived after 4pm, unannounced. Then we had to direct them on which beds to change out. We were told that a staff member would bring us ant spray that same day (because pest control couldn't come until after our vacation was over) but no one arrived or updated us. We had to reach out AGAIN to follow up and we received it on our last day there. They did not offer us anything in terms of a partial refund, and it was making us feel crazy because they did not seem at all bothered that there was POOP in our BED!!! We had to demand a partial refund. A day after we got home from the trip they still hadn't confirmed any refund, so we followed up with them yet AGAIN. Finally, they offered us $80 total in refund. This doesn't even cover the night we had to sleep on gross bunk beds due to POOP and PEE being all over the beds. We requested a larger refund and they told us they submitted our request to higher ups. Every time we asked for an update they said they were waiting for word back and thanked us for our patience. After waiting and no response, we tried to dispute part of the charge with our credit card company. Now this property management company is telling us that it has been too long for a refund. They refused to give us an answer to our request asking for an adequate refund, and blew us off at every turn. This seemed to be their plan the whole time: they ignore emails and stall you until you give up. Porter Vacation Rental Management is run by unethical people.

We used GBR for 1.5 years and Susan, the owner,…read moretried to lie about stays where people were staying at our property (and we had proof of it) but she claimed no one was there when we didn't get any income for the stays. We reached out to her 12 (current and former) clients via an email distribution list we were on for her and 4 of them responded to me that the same thing had happened to them. She will not let you access any details from your listing on AirBNB... when we asked for screenshots/confirmations of our bookings, she said she'd let us view them, but then would not send them and would not give permission for AirBNB to let us to view them. When we left her to a much more reputable company, she lied about existing reservations that were on our account and asked us to pay for cancellation fees on reservations that didn't exist. She told us she'd do tax statements, but didn't do them. She has lied and stolen from so many people that we had to get an attorney to send a demand letter to her. I would stay as far the heck away from this person as possible if you want someone honest/trustworthy renting your property. We switched to another property management company in Galveston and our rentals have more than doubled in the first 6.5 months. So either Susan wasn't representing our home well, or she was taking money that we didn't even know about... but I guess we'll never know!

We rented the Havana House from Renee, through a website called Home Away. It was such a lovely…read morebeach house, with a waterfront view in Galveston in Bermuda Beach. The beach house had three rooms -- two with queen beds and 1 room with 4 bunk beds. There was a futon couch and a sleeper sofa too. It could sleep 2 couples, 2 singles (futon and couch) and up to 4 kids in the bunks comfortably, but I wouldn't over-pack the house. We had 5 (2 couples and 1 adult), so it was really perfect. Two bathrooms, one in the master bedroom and one other in the hall. We paid ~$1200 for Saturday through Weds July 7-11th, a peak vacation time. What sets this beach house apart, other than the friendly relaxed nature of the owner, is the very cool vintage decorations and personal touches throughout the house. It's a beach house that looks like a home, I had friends ask if we were borrowing this house from a friend -- it doesn't look like a standard run of the mill big family beach house. It's really thoughtfully designed. It's got a great beach-facing deck with plenty of adirondack chairs and benches. The living room has a guitar for guests to use, and photos of vintage hawaii, surfing and beaching. The kitchen is roomy and well designed, with a dish washer, full size stove/oven and fridge, a pot rack over the fridge (saves space). Dishes and utensils were all there, including many cooking staples (fish fry, baking soda, cinnamon, sugar etc). There were also plentiful towels and toilet paper for the week. The master bedroom had a comfy mattress and nice thick sheets, and was decently sound insulated. The whirlpool bathtub was smallish, but it was a perfect size for relaxing. There is a washer / dryer in the beach house, a camp shower outside. They had beach chairs and some beach toys downstairs for use, along with a BBQ. We had 2 families over for a post-wedding reception one of the nights, we had about 30 people there. It got a little crowded in the kitchen, but once we pushed everyone to the living room and deck, it was very nice and the roomy deck was great. Again, if it had been a huge giant hall of a beach house, it wouldn't have felt so "our house-ish" as it did. Renee came by to meet us a day before we left (we had friends pick up the keys the first night). He was friendly and glad to hear we had a good time. Since we had paid a cleaning fee, he encouraged us to let the cleaning service clean up. We somewhat took him up on that offer, leaving towels and sheets to clean etc. But since it did feel kind of like renting from a friend, we cleaned some too, as we were so happy with the experience that we wanted to leave it clean. We asked that he hold a week or so on sending the deposit because we were going on a honeymoon. A few days after we returned from the honeymoon we had our deposit in the mail! A really nice rental experience, we will look forward to being back.

When we arrived for boarding the ship, we were ahead of the other passengers, since we already had the necessary paperwork. Marchi Travel Services is not only extremely knowledgeable, they are responsive to all of our numerous questions. We sometimes have a hard time deciding where we want to go and they are always extremely patient. They also provide information and guidance that is very beneficial. For our flight to Ireland, they managed to get us an amazing deal on our tickets. They watched the prices over a period of time and let us know when the tickets had reached a really great price and purchased the tickets at that price as soon as we confirmed with them. Be very careful booking with this outfit! Horrible Service…read more Transferred a cruise reservation to them because the said they could get me additional room credits. While i did get room credits, they completely ruined my reservations. I had to switch people in rooms and then they changed the name on the reservation so i could not find the reservation under my name. It took me 2 painful days to figure out what they did and fix it. They claimed they couldn't fix it. Once I figured out what the problem was they were magically able to fix it in minutes.
