I first tried My Garden over a year ago at the Ripon location, so when I saw the new one on Tully in Modesto I was very excited. I've eaten here for breakfast a few times and every time it was delicious. My favorite so far is the BACON WAFFLE! I mean really, bacon in a waffle? Can it get better than that? Not in my opinion. The waitresses here are friendly, fast, and very adapt at handling the rush of customers. I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly my fiance and I received our food on a very busy Saturday morning. The food is great but the service is horrible. I've been here many times because I absolutely love the breakfast but the service is so bad I've just started ordering everything to-go but even then it sometimes takes 10 tries to get someone to answer. On top of bad service, the place is old and kind of dirty. They've had pretty much the same servers for a few years and only one of them is actually nice. I wish I knew her name because she deserves the one nice thing I have to say about them but the blonde waitress that always has her long hair in a pony tail you're amazing go somewhere else! They have dead flies on the windowsills that don't get cleaned and fake dusty flowers on the tables. This is our 2nd time being here. The 1st time we had a bad experience and we thought it had to do with the restaurant being too busy. The customer service was kinda offensive. We waited super long and saw others being served before us even though we had gotten there 1st. The organization was just bad. We ended up leaving without even eating or even being seated because we waited so long. Then 2nd time we came, again the customer service was rude. It took awhile for us to be seated even though there was nobody really here. Once we finally got seated the servers took a long time to come and take our order. I noticed again others. Ring served before us even though we were seated 1st. Once we got our food immediately after the server hands us our check. That seemed kinda of rude to me. Everything took forever except handing us our check... we hadn't even started eating yet and they were already giving us our check and without a word. The decor is awful, the menu is average, and the food is below average. The service was fast and friendly, but our waitress looked like she had a bad case of the DT's. Sadly I have to leave a bad review. Let's start with the positive. Arrived around 8:25 and there were a few tables open. I was seated right away and served coffee. Around 8:32, the table next to mine, customers finished their food Around 8:36 new customers were seated, At 8:40, their order was taken. I was ready to leave to pay for my coffee, the server then came to take my order. At 8:54, customers next to me received their food At 8:55, decided to leave and pay for my coffee. I went to this restaurant for the first time,11-23-19 at around noon. We were greeted by a young female employee that was by the register and said, "You can sit over there." Long story short, service was bad, food was average at best. I wouldn't recommend this place. A large breakfast at McDonald's is better than this place's breakfast. One positive note. Can't say I expected much more in Modesto. I personally prefer neighborhood grills like Applebee's and Chili's or Olive Garden if I'm wanting to be treated like family. Well, this place was pretty much A-OK. I had the bacon/avocado omelette (which was more like a scramble and a little tough and overcooked) and hash browns (also overcooked) and an english muffin with jam. Great homemade jam. My sweetie had the pork chops and eggs with fried okra and biscuits and gravy. The gravy was totally on a par with most diner breakfast gravy. However, he's from Kansas and I've got Southern family, so we're just gravy hounds and have ridiculously high standards and are almost always a little disappointed and yes, this was a little bland as far as gravy goes. The biscuits were good, he liked his okra and porkchops just fine. We liked it. We both said we'd need to try some other things on the menu - we have not found our holy grail of breakfast meals here just yet. That's ok. New things take time. New breakfast restaurants have to be eased into. Favorites must be discovered. This is close enough to our place for walking on a Sunday morning and I think we'll definitely be back. Our waitress was great, very cheerful. The seating hostess wasn't really friendly and obviously didn't want to be bothered with dealing with customers. She was distracted and not paying attention or listening - almost poured coffee on my boyfriend's hand when he covered his cup and said "no thanks" to a refill. But maybe it was a bad day or she'd had a rough morning - it was a small thing. It did take forever to get our orders taken but once they did get taken, the food came very fast. I honestly wish Yelp would allow users to give zero stars, but even that would be too good. Visited My Garden Cafe for a little birthday lunch and was expecting a bad meal by the look of the place. Unfortunately, I got what I expected. Firstly, The service: it was beyond atrocious. The waitress was rude, very clearly agitated, and would completely ignore us when we requested service. I am just shocked by the very clear irritation she conveyed to the entire table. The food: I ordered the "Big Ol Ham breakfast", which came with fries, 2 eggs, and toast. We were told it was a large ham, deboned before brought to the table. It was obviously not a sliced bone in ham, but out of a can. It was a possible 4 ounces, and the size of a small hand, for almost 15 dollars. Under my fries, a long black curly hair was found, I instantly felt sick. I showed a passing waitress, and she informed our waitress. A few minutes later, our waitress returned, without saying sorry or even an apology, she strictly informed me that they will still charge me for the toast, since I ate the toast, even though the toast came with the meal. After that, she was even more beyond God awful. She clearly took it personal, even though I showed and told the waitress politely. I paid for the toast, left a dollar tip and will kick the dust off this greasy spoon for good. Look elsewhere, nobody at our table of 8 enjoyed our meal. read more

I've been here twice. I've had the avocado and bacon omelette, hash browns, english muffins with jam, fried okra, spinach and cheese omelette, biscuits with chocolate gravy. The avocado and bacon omelette was fantastic. Good, ripe avocado, and the bacon brings good savoriness. I would not recommend the spinach and cheese omelette, a bit too watery, a bit mild. The hash browns are consistently decent. They're shredded, nice crisp crunch on the outside, mostly fluffy inside. A good sprinkling of salt helps. The english muffins with jam are great; not sure what's so special but I think the jam may be made in house. But get it toasted and buttered; absolutely awesome. They offer biscuits with chocolate gravy (loose chocolate pudding) here. It's not that memorable. The biscuits are not impressive; could easily be pillsbury ready made. The service has been friendly and casual, no complaints. The pricing is fair, the servings are large. Watch out for the massive rush of customers after church on sundays. read more

I came here for brunch today with my buddies and food here were good and basic. You can get pretty much everything on their menu from French toast to omelette to pancakes. It actually reminded me Denny's a lot. They serve you a lot of food for one single order and you can even skip lunch if you come here for breakfast. Been here a few times. The food is really pretty good. Today my husband had an enchilada omelette that he just loved. I am usually weary of ordering eggs Benedict unless I know the place. Everything here has been worthy so i gave it a try but today was a mess for me. The ham was a piece of sliced ham you'd find on a sandwich. I had read its ham and not Canadian bacon but I was thinking breakfast ham. I would not try this ever again. Service is always hit and miss but they are so nice ALWAYS! Overall I think this place is pretty average. I had the el rancho omelette with hashbrowns and for something new I tried the chocolate covered biscuits. The omelette was fine, a little on the dry side but nothing amazing. The biscuits was actually gross to me. The biscuit itself was hard, so maybe I got a bad batch, and the chocolate pudding over it wasn't tasty either. I like the idea but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The rest of my family had french toast and pancakes. Nothing amazing but no complaints from their end either. The service I thought was a little allow considering there were a number of waitresses behind the counter. I found it annoying trying to get their attention for a box while one girl is stuck on her phone that's charging on the wall. Went to this location for lunch yesterday. Every empty table in the place was dirty - we were seated at a cleared, but dirty table and given one menu for both of us. After 10 minutes, we ordered, and it took 20 minutes to get our food. We ordered the young at heart 1/2 sandwich and salad. It was the tiniest half sandwich I've ever seen! It couldn't have measured more than 3 square inches, and had only one or two extremely thin slices of turkey. We waited forever to get our check - finally went to the register and she said she would get it, but not before she cashed out other people! This is the worst service we've had lately, they clearly didn't care abut the customer, and to top it off, at 51 degrees outside, they had all the fans going, freezing the customers! This cafe was well worth the 35 minute drive over from I-5. My breakfast was prepared just as I requested. The waitress was a bright cheerful young woman and the wait time from order to table was minimal eventhough they were very busy. I arrived about 1100 am on a Thursday, May 31st. From conversations around me it was clear that this is norm for this cafe. My food was hot and fresh. I thought the price was most reasonable. I have come here a few times. Food always good. But noticed this last time that the waitresses had their lunch right there in the area where they pick up the plates for the costumers. They were taking bites in between serving, not washing hands etc. yuck. It was not crowded because it was late on a week day. So they could have sat at a table. The waitresses have always been nice. My husband ordered a full stack of pancakes this morning for pickup and when we picked them up they were very hard almost like plastic and cold! I have a feeling that they just reheated in the microwave and they were at least a couple of days old. The pancakes were disgusting! Couldn't decide on 2 or 3 stars this time. Food is always good, but it's the service that needs improving. Waitresses were nice but they skipped our name when seating. My food was literally cold-refrigerator cold- in spots. People were signing themselves in and a line formed at the cash register. No one was manning the registration or register.
