The waitresses are always kind and professional, and the food is usually on par. However, do not offer a $7.99 chicken breast as a side order and then cut it down to a 1/3"(at best) fillet. Owners try to up their profits while the waitresses get to hear about it. Just sayin' lol read more

We waited about 10 minutes to be seated and the hostess brought us drinks promptly after being seated. We waited probably another 10 minutes for our server to acknowledge we were sitting there. We ordered our food and while we were waiting another family was seated and was promptly served drinks by the hostess. Our food arrived be was good quality and tasty. My husband and his friend had the biscuits and gravy and were disappointed. Our friend had brought us there for them and they tasted out of a can without the crumbled sausage. Grandma, yep...family, makes boysenberry jam which is like eating schmooshed berries, and also a strawberry jam. So like the boysenberry that have not tried the strawberry. Love this breakfast diner. Have only had breakfast here so don't know how lunch/dinner are. But my guess is just as good! Depending on the day, hr you could be waiting a bit but it's totally worth it. The homemade jam is amazing! We live in SoCal but travel to good ol' hot Modesto every few months. I had the French toast,over easy eggs,bacon. It was good. My daughter had the biscuit with gravy, the country omelette, with hash browns. My eggs were perfect and runny. The French toast was basic but good. The biscuit with gravy was yummy good. My daughter said the omelette and hash browns were very good. I would recommend this place to anyone that wants good to very good food on a budget. The only negative was the wait time for ordering. However the food came quickly after ordering. We have been frequenting this establishment for years. Today we go in and my husband asks for the Ham and egg special for $6.99... the waitress says it will be $11.99. My husband asks why and she informs him it is after 11 am. The last time we were here which was a Saturday we were told it is only available on weekdays...so we come in on a weekday and now we are told they limit the time of day...it isn't like we are ordering it at 4 or 5 in the evening...it is just 1 pm...plus the first two times my husband ordered it they gave it to him for $6.99 and it was 11:30 first time and it was after noon the second time. Now they want to lose business over a time issue. Guess the first two times we got waitresses that rather keep happy customers coming back. Well, I am sure we will not be back here anymore. Once you walk in the waiting area is small and you'll be asked to write your name on a notebook along with how many members in your party. It was a short wait granted it was the late end of breakfast. My drink came quickly but had hot chocolate spilled on the handle. It wouldn't be a big deal but your only provided with one napkin with no napkin dispenser on the table. I asked for an extra napkin and I get an eye roll. The wait to order was food was fairly quick. I ordered the Florentine omelette, hashbrowns, and fried okra. I was a bit insulted but I guess people have a tendency to overlook the menu because the waitress asked me if I knew there was an upcharge for the fried okra which it clearly states in the menu. I just smiled and said yes while a cynical part of me wanted to say I can read the menu. The food wait was average about 10 minutes. The food was ok. Nothing to exciting, definitely processed cheese but ample amount of spinach, lacking on the mushroom, and the fried okra was good. I guess when you're bill is due you pay up front. I only saw the waitress three times (drinks, order, and pick up my dishes). I asked for my refill for the hot chocolate since you only get one after the initial drink, never got it. Overall, if you want to support local business and craving a regular breakfast this wouldn't be a bad place to go. Very friendly that's about it. Took about 15 minutes just to get asked if anybody took our drink order. Then another 5 to get it done. Prices are rather high especially for a side order of anything. I always would like to eat at mom and pop places but should of went to IHOP on this day. Go to another place if you have a choice. read more

First time here... were greeted promptly by a friendly lady... we were told the wait was 20 minutes for a table for 2 on a Saturday morning, not bad but we opted for the high top chairs in front of the kitchen. Visited My Garden for the first time this morning with my mother and daughter. We were totally pleased. Prompt and professional service from the young ladies working there. A menu full of variety for breakfast and lunch. The place was busy but our orders came without delay. All the food was tasty and well-prepared. I really enjoyed the Mediterranean Omelette with tasty feta cheese. A unique item they serve is biscuits with "chocolate gravy." It's chocolate pudding over warm biscuits. My wife and I stopped in for a late weekday breakfast recently and were disappointed...again. Although not very busy and with available window seats, our waitress sat us right next to the kitchen, obviously for her convenience. After moving ourselves to a better table, things went downhill from there. Each stage of our meal seemed in slow motion, with unnecessary delays between. While my food was fine, my wife's bacon/vegetable omelet was bland and coffee refills few and far between. The check never showed after asking and the waitress had to find it when we were at the register. This is the third visit in a row where our experience has been disappointing. We have eaten at the other locations and this will be our first at the Modesto location. We were promptly greeted and seated. Table was clean. We were brought coffee and water promptly. Breakfast was excellent. The waitress got our orders correct. Prices are good. Our coffee and water cups never went below half. Experience was very good. I called ahead of time because we had a large party and I wasn't sure about the wait time, I asked if they'd put my name on the list, & when we arrived they had our table ready. We were sat as soon as we arrived. They offered & brought our drinks right away. Allowed sufficient time for us to look over the menu. The menu had something for everybody; skillets, omelettes, french toast etc. I opted for the farmers omelette which was filled with fresh, yummy ingredients, the biscuits and gravy were also delicious. I first tried My Garden over a year ago at the Ripon location, so when I saw the new one on Tully in Modesto I was very excited. I've eaten here for breakfast a few times and every time it was delicious. My favorite so far is the BACON WAFFLE! I mean really, bacon in a waffle? Can it get better than that? Not in my opinion. The waitresses here are friendly, fast, and very adapt at handling the rush of customers. I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly my fiance and I received our food on a very busy Saturday morning.
