I decided to come here for breakfast after seeing pictures of the pancakes and they are delicious! The pancakes came with butter and maple syrup. I had the country fried steak & gravy with scrambled eggs and country potatoes. The gravy was delicious with all the right flavors. Normally, I would have a biscuit with gravy but opted for the pancakes instead. Next time I will try a biscuit with gravy. I had Apple juice and black coffee. This is our go-to for breakfast every Sunday after church. Fantastic service, delicious food (I can't just pick one thing...everything is sooo good. But the sausage gravy is a high point on every item it's served with!) and positive energy from everyone in the restaurant. It's not uncommon to see the owner come in on a busy day and begin serving coffee and helping the waitresses deliver excellent customer service. Don't pass this by...a true gem in Modesto! read more

I was disappointed that they use liquid eggs, my scrambled eggs were horrible. I could totally tell the difference right away. The waitress confirmed and then said you have to ask for real eggs. We came to My Garden Cafe based on my son's recommendation. His football buddies come once a week during the football season. He invited us to breakfast one day. Let me say there are a lot of reviews about this place...and they are mixed. However I can say our experience was great. We got seated right away, a waitress came to our table immediately and our food was prepared fast and fresh. We each had something different. I had pancakes, my wife had eggs and bacon and my son had the ham special. WHAT A YUMMY BREAKFAST. The place is not fancy, looks more like a diner, but it is clean and inviting. The wife and I were on a breakfast date without kids. Yes that's what we call a break. Haha We decided on my garden since we had business to do in Modesto and the fact it had indoor dining. The place was busy and it took a bit for a waitress to take our order. I must say this place is pricey for breakfast. Let's hope their prices reflect their portions. I ended up getting the farmers omelette. The food came out pretty quick. Now let's talk about portions. Let's just say the portions doesn't match the high price charged. The omelette was good, the hash browns were just ok. I personally wasn't a fan of the hash browns. The toast was hard. Rock hard. I had to have them replace the toast. Let's just say if you have a family of four, expect to pay upwards to 70 bucks for breakfast and drinks. Would I come back? Who knows. read more

We ordered take-out breakfast from My Garden Cafe and were alarmed to discover that the restaurant was operating with indoor dining against health orders. They had no ventilation but we had called ahead and so we braved the plague pit and picked up our food (which the waitress handed to us, with her mask hanging off), got home and... wow! This is the blandest, worst breakfast I've had in Modesto. Go to Black Bear Diner, Marie Callenders, Squeeze In, or even Denny's. They'll all be better than this, and they comply with the health orders. If they don't follow the rules right now it makes you wonder what other health codes they think don't apply read more

Three stars for decent food. I ordered the Daylight Special with one egg over med, bacon, country potatoes and biscuit and gravy. Service was timely. I also got a cup of ice with some Diet Pepsi and was never offered a refill. They brought sausage instead of bacon, over easy egg instead of medium and scalloped potatoes for country. The biscuits and gravy was like most places and the sausage was good. I indicated the errors to staff, asking if maybe I got another persons order. They said sorry about that. I also felt like they were annoyed by prosessing the credit card at the table instead of cashier. The waitress who took my order plopped the credit card reader in front of me, never said sorry, thank you, or good bye. They weren't that busy but would whisk by holding other breakfast plates while asking if everything was ok. The kitchen serving area seemed clustered but the restaurant itself looked clean and organized. I won't go back, especially with a mediocre experience at the Ceres store too. read more

We usually have pretty good service here but today was totally awful! The waitress had her family in the back area and spent the entire time with them. No coffee or drink refills as that would have disturbed her family time. Maybe she should have had someone cover her tables but nope didn't happen. We also find that the food quality has not been what it used to be! I'm just mad at myself because we actually left her a tip! Never again. We learned our lesson! read more

Worst service ever!! Tina started out ok even though sitting at the "bar" is suppose to be quicker... had to ask for menus after she walked by a few times AFTER chit chatting w/ co-workers as they were just standing around. Wasn't busy in there, we just wanted to make sure we got in & out for breakfast. Been a few times before & never had a problem other than a rather odd booth "fit". Not sure what was wrong with it. Anyway, after breakfast came, had to ask for Tapatio sauce as it was not out w/ other 2 sauces. And, from another server/busser? because she was no where to be found. Couldn't get it to come out even w/ all the tricks holding to side and tapping. Finally she came by after our food was 1/2 eaten and I asked for another bottle as that one maybe plugged up? She said " oh, it's cause they overfilled it!" What?!!! Never had a problem getting overfilled sauces out. But ok. She took off the plastic top attached to bottle (under the cap) w/ her bare fingers without washing first. You know, the plastic top you have to get a fingernail under to get up & off.... I personally would have used a clean dull butter knife.. but , ewwww. Gross!! We sat amazed as she poured into a little cup. Then took bottle away again. What the heck?!?! I asked for more and she acted like I was speaking a foreign language. And acted bothered by my request for another bottle. Then, saw a man in street clothes walk back behind and help himself to fill up his soda behind the bar. We thought that was odd and possibly health code violation? But, whatever, you couldn't pay me to drink from that dirty machine anyway. And ice machine door was open the entire time we were there. We also got grossed out looking at the garbage can touching bags of bread. Oh, the guy who got the soda... he also walked through kitchen as well. Apparently was our server, Tina's husband. Hmm, guess why service was so bad. He ate food too. So I'm guessing she was a tad distracted? and, to make matters worse, she overcharged us almost $3!! Also portions were very small also the bacon was not commercial slices the were store bought bacon small slices. If your lazy and don't want to cook you can come here and spend about $25 for 1 person for your basic breakfast you could have made at home but worse. My birthday breakfast: it was a quickly made decision to go here. we got sat in front of a large screen TV showing Fox News-should have left. I ordered their garden scramble skillet, which should have been their specialty. It was clearly barely defrosted vegetables out of a bag, still a little cold and watery. I ate 1/4 of the gigantic portion. I ordered a hot chit, which they said I could get 1 refill and no one asked me if I wanted one. My breakfast was subpar. One of the most enjoyable dining experiences I've had in Modesto. Friendly service in a quaint small family friendly breakfast environment. The isn't that much seating so we had to wait about 10 minutes, which is to be expected at any good breakfast place on a Sunday at 11. We ordered the country fried steak breakfast with biscuits and chocolate gravy, along with country fries; corned beef hash with hashed browns and biscuits/country gravy; and chicken strips. Everything was cooked nicely and not only had a good crunch to it but the gravy was rich but not in a bad way. Chocolate gravy was interesting-- sweet but not TOO sweet-- definitely something the kids will enjoy. Only thing that was lacking was the home fries which were a bit on the soggy side. All in all we had not just a pleasant experience with quick, friendly service (waters and coffees stayed full), but also some solid breakfast. Great way to start the day! read more

We took my mother in law here for breakfast on her birthday. It was okay but certainly not great. We waited a long time from when were seated to when the waitress actually took our order, then waited another long time for water and coffee. We weren't surprised to also have to wait a while for the food. We didn't get some of the things we had ordered and asked for (juice, milk, avocado, side of bacon, toast, sour cream, hot sauce, salsa). We requested it when the food was dropped off and the juice and milk were brought out fairly quickly but the rest of our order wasn't brought out for over 10 minutes and we didn't see our waitress once while waiting. We finally asked another staff person to please get us our waitress if she could. The food was alright once we got it. All in all, it was disappointing. I doubt we will go back. read more

I love the breakfasts at My Garden on Tully Road! I have been going here for. breakfast for several years with a group of friends and they are always friendly and the service is great! It's a real hometown place with real and plentiful food! I recently went (3/1/21) and due to COVID-19, they have put up dividers between each booth, and fans overhead, so any "germs" should stay within your own booth. With a name like "My Garden Cafe" I was expecting something more natural, organic, health friendly? Instead I was greeted with the most tacky decorations, non existent service (except for my order being taken then thrown on the table) and greasy unworthwhile food. I started with a Garden Salad with Ranch Dressing. The Ranch was so watery I don't even know what I can compare it to. Then I ordered a Patty Melt. Fresh Onion that was perfectly caramelized was the only thing going for it. God forbid I wanted some Ketchup or Mustard on the side because I was not offered any nor was I ever spoken to again after the sandwich was delivered. Get this, I had to get up and go grab my own box for half of my sandwich. Even then no one said anything to me as I was standing at the waitress station. I would like to rate this restaurant 3.5 stars, but I'm feeling generous and in the holiday spirit, so I rounded up. It is located in the Frontier Village Shopping Center on Standiford. The bright white paint, garden motif and little sayings hung around the restaurant give this place a very cheerful feel. My Garden Cafe only serves breakfast and lunch so keep that in mind if you plan on visiting. The place was packed when I arrived. The servers were bustling. The customers all seemed to enjoy their food (a good sign). I ordered the turkey sandwich with a cup of vegetable soup. There wasn't a lot of turkey on my sandwich but that is fine with me since I'm not a real big carnivore. The soup was pretty tasty, nice and thick with a bit of a kick. I would like to come back and try one of the breakfast items. Perhaps the French Toast, which is my all-time favorite breakfast food. read more

My grandma and myself went for some breakfast. Terry was our server, she wasn't a pleasant server it was almost as though we were a hassle. We got our order taken quickly and it came out with in a reasonable time my grandma had the "pancake sandwich" with sausage links it didn't come out like a sandwich though and her sausage was 50/50 one was edible and the other burnt as soon as the plate was placed on table it was the first thing she said and the server offered nothing just placed ketchup and hot sauce then left.
