Half of a moving job is showing up. My movers gave me a window of between 1-5 PM and 4:30 PM I still had no actual ETA. When I called the company for an ETA, I kept getting a later and later ETA. Around 6 PM still with no honest ETA, I spoke with the manager Kate. She said the the office would be closing soon, but that there was an error and I had been scheduled after a long, all-day job. This is despite the fact that when I had the confirmation call with the scheduler, I had reiterated that the 1-5 PM window was what I wanted. Finally at 7:30 PM I got an ETA of arriving to *start* the job at 8 PM! I had spoken with a few managers at this point, who assured me that despite the crew having worked an entire day's long job, there was no cut-off and they would keep working... I am not a labor law expert but that is a terrible way to treat your employees doing demanding physical labor all day long who have not even had dinner. I said no to having an exhausted crew who had worked all day long come to start my job at 8 PM at night. Not only did I not want an exhausted crew to keep working on my behalf, I also could not be the new neighbor moving in at 10 PM (which would have been the case given the distance and load time). Instead, I asked to have the job finished the next morning, which I am thankful they accommodated (the bare minimum here). This was a HUGE headache, I had taken time off of work for this move, and it was wasted waiting all afternoon and evening for an honest ETA. The communication was poor, only one person apologized for this snafu at all and I kept having to call back to get updates (few people called me back when they said they would). Additionally, I had reserved street parking at my new residence (required 4 business days notice to do so) which had expired by the time the movers ever showed up. It only worked out because my new landlord and ALL the other tenants VERY kindly helped me out by moving all their cars. All this headache and I had to ask for a discount, which ended up only being 10 percent. That didn't even cover the wasted reserved parking fee I paid for! The movers themselves were very good at their job, but it doesn't seem like they are treated well. When I told the first crew it was too late to start my move, they should get a rest and dinner, they were so relieved. I had expected so much better from such a highly rated company. read more

Fuentes Crew - Movers were supposed to be here between 8-9 AM on moving day and arrived in the window - arrived at 8:45 - perfect Movers need to complete within the estimated timeframe preferably under time - completed within time Hard working and courteous - these guys never stop and the way they rotate tasks to give people rest but still work was impressive. Alex does a good job of answering questions and relaying that to the team. Condition of furniture and reassembly - good with a few dings and nicks in the leather but almost impossible to move without some dings. Also, they assembled the furniture and was exactly like when they disassembled. All in all I was very impressed with the service and while they might be slightly higher than competitors - i have used some of the competitors and their work ethic isn't as good. I will definitely use this company and hopefully this crew again when we move. read more

Packing was very careless. We had many damaged items. Our list filled the claim sheet and we are finding more damage. The boxes were handled casually. I saw a box thrown to a mover in the truck. They stopped when they saw me watching. Not professional crews. I would have expected better from day laborers. read more

I want to give a 5 star but had an experience when there was a problem that company did not respond at all....the guys that moved me were terrific. The initial call with the company expressed how important customer service was to them. The movers arrived on time...... If there were any defects on anything they marked. When it was time to unload the furniture the sofa slipcover was slit no mark as there was no damage before move. . Small slit but regardless a damage done by movers. Nothing had been marked as there was no damage. I contacted company. Filled out the paperwork and attached quote to have the slipcover redone as directed. Also bought insurance per their direction. Crickets....I have emailed minimum 4 times with no response. I will be replacing the slipcover. It is easy to make promises to get a job...it is a reputable company that at least has a discussion to resolve. Very disappointed. read more

I have now used My Guys Moving twice for moving services. Both times they have done an excellent and professional job. I meet with a sales person who drafted up a quote for me, they showed me where and how I could save money or cut cost by choosing a different day or only having the furniture moved. In my recent move these guys were worth every penny. When moving my bedroom set into my new home, my King size head board would not fit up my stairs. instead they removed a window on the second floor and got up on a ladder and with 3 guys and hoisted it up while one pulled it in though the window. If I had not hired them, my buddies and I would have damaged my walls or furniture and would have been looking at buying a new bed set. I highly recommend these movers if you are considering hiring someone for your move. read more

I received a response with a quote very quickly. The moving crew was excellent, Tony and his crew went above and beyond and helped get our personal rental truck loaded up faster than expected. This review should come with a warning... I was moving my personal items (i.e.- clothes, shoes, and some kitchen stuff) out of a furnished apartment I was renting and into storage, so I really didn't have that much stuff. I didn't have anything they could break or destroy that bad. First off, I was just relieved when I called to get a quote and set up my move that they could do it. Evidently, July is a busy month for moving and I needed to get my stuff into storage on a short time frame so that I could leave for Afghanistan for six months. The only thing I didn't love is that they can't give you a time for your move. It's like calling the cable guy or washing machine repair man... they give you a range. I was told between 1 and 4pm. They showed up around 2pm and called about 45 minutes before they arrived. I only had about 50 boxes and i think from the time they pulled in the loading dock of my building to the time the two guys left it was 45 minutes. They were extremely efficient and worked quickly. The move was also economical- my stuff was going from D.C. to Sterling, VA into storage and I paid about $300 less than what I had paid a year before to do a similar move. I would absolutely use them again! read more

For the record, if my move would have been within the DMV area I am sure this would have been a 5 star experience, however I was relocating for a job down to Florida so had a slightly different experience. Everything started great! Nick came over a day or so after I requested quote and did a quick inventory of our apartment. He was very pleasant and explained all the different options for the actual move and associated insurance. He did explain that for interstate moves they (My Guys) only handle the initial packing and removal of items, and a third party handles the moving and ultimate delivery to my new home. My interactions with the third party started positively - they called the day before they were going to arrive to make sure I was going to be home and get instructions on where to park the truck. To make a long story short things went down hill from there. With interstate moves they put your belongings on the truck with other peoples and are relying on stickers to remember which item belongs to which customer. There is a master tallly sheet that shows all the stickers they used so you can check the items off as they are placed in your home, and at know if anything is missing before they leave. Unfortunately two of my items were damaged (my wife's large dresser and my smaller dresser), and one of the boxes was never found. When they loaded our belongings with the other two moves they were doing it's not like they put all my things together... most of it was, but some of it was scattered in other places of the truck so that everything could fit without moving. There also was no reconstruction of the things My Guys took a part at my home (bed, dining room table) so I did it myself. Again, if this was within the DMV I would definitely recomment them, but never again for an interstate move where they involve another party. read more

My definition of a good moving company is one that makes your move less stressful and doesn't damage your stuff. Mark Davis came over to give us an estimate after we received a vague estimate after a very rambling and time-wasting conversation from another moving company. The estimate was significantly lower than the other company, and it turned out to be accurate for the amount of time and materials required. (We actually saved a lot of materials money by acquiring a bunch of used boxes for free on Craigslist.) My Guys packed up all of our stuff, and not one thing was broken. They arrived and finished on time and cheerfully corrected minor mistakes that were made. (The guys do not read notes. Explain what you don't want packed verbally and preferably in Spanish.) They were also careful to put everything where we wanted it in the house, saving us from carrying boxes to different rooms. Highly recommend! read more

The actual moving crew was great. Friendly and fast. My main issue with this company was 1) the estimate was off. If we hadn't moved our own patio furniture along with other boxes etc. we would have gone over by several hours in addition to needing another truck or run. 2) While the movers and crew captain were great, they did not tell me where they left the screws to my bed. BEWARE. Extremely disappointed. Our office move was planned for 7 hours. I assume the movers are paid hourly because it took 13. They did not leave until 10:30 PM on a Friday night. Our contract included 5 men and a project manager, Kenny. We had 4 men and Kenny was on site for no more 15 minutes then completely ignored my staff member's repeated calls while she had to manage the crew and tell them how to do their jobs, which they were under equipped for despite the lengthy on site pre-visit and contract discussion. The crew obviously did not have enough experience and a complete lack of attention to detail even in front of the customer. I watched them bump our tables and other furniture into things and overall they were the most inefficient movers I have ever dealt with and I have managed at least 6 moves. The moving crew showed up completely unprepared to properly wrap our LCD monitors and TV's, did not know they were supposed to also take the mounts (included in the contract was to remount our TV's and glass whiteboards), almost left a very large production window, left two lamps sitting outside of our old suite, and didn't close the door properly so Datawatch called me because the alarm was going off. In addition, they did not have the crate included in our contract for my boss' glass desktop and dented the sides of the wooden base - a $5,400 piece of furniture that they clumsily fumbled to his new office. They also broke a piece of glass that they failed to wrap when they tipped my other boss' desk to carry it inside. To add insult to injury, we had to repeatedly ask them to put their masks on. When my employee was managing them at the pickup site and she asked them to put their masks on and keep their noses covered, one gentleman laughed in her face and told her he didn't wear masks. At the drop off site I had to ask this same gentleman where his mask was. He said it was in his pocket. I literally had to tell him to take it out and put it on. He was making no moves to do so before that. Every time I saw the guys who were in our suite, while very nice, I still had to tell them to put their masks on their noses. At current time, 200,000 people have died in the US from COVID-19. For such a large a company, I'm floored by this experience. read more

Only 4 stars because they didn't call me half hour before coming like they said they would and I almost wasn't home to let them in (though they did come within the time they promised, so no worries there). All's well that ends well, they did a great job and were a cheerful presence on a stressful day. Would definitely recommend. One thing: I wish they didn't require a 3-hour minimum for a Saturday move since I didn't have that much stuff. I made plans to move just the Monday prior and other cheaper options were booked. They charged a $99 transport fee in addition to $99/hr (but they sent 3 guys instead of 2 - bonus!). read more

They are always very friendly and helpful on the phone and the moving crews are very professional. My parents built their new home a state away from their old home and needed someone to move their priceless and valuable objects. I heard about this company through a referral from a friend. My family and I put our faith in the movers as they made the five-and a-half-hour trek to their new home. Firstly, the movers were late to drop off the items because they needed to go to a weight station. I am understanding of that but they did not reach out to my parents and my other family members who took off from work. They finally showed up two hours later than expected with the damaged merchandise (damaged antiques, grandfather clock, and other priceless items. We also noticed a lot of the merchandise that was stored with My Guys Moving & Storage for the past six months were STOLEN. A 55-inch flat screen TV was stolen. This has been one of the most horrific moving experiences I have ever dealt with. When I voiced my frustration out to their Interstate Specialist Michelle Marin about the MULTIPLE destroyed items, they compensated me $77... SEVENTY-SEVEN dollars for everything! I have not been so offended before in my life. If I were you, I would check out other moving companies before settling with this unprofessional, uncaring, and overall lacking company. I lived in my house for over 50 years and I entrusted them with my prized possessions and they opted to cover the merchandise for .60 cents a pounds and offering me only $77.00. If you choose them for your move just know you will end up with less than what you have started your move! read more

I recently used Two Guys and a Truck (TGAAT) for both a move and their storage service. This company was highly recommended by a coworker and the prices for the move and for storage were reasonable. The movers arrived on time and were friendly and efficient in collecting my things to take away to put in storage at TGAAT's facility. One problem did arise because during the move I first learned I would be charged an additional charge for overflow items that I was not told about when I was given an estimate and costs. I raised the issue on the spot and when I spoke with the estimator the next business day I was quite happy to learn that the mistake was handled and I would not be charged the fee. I was very pleased with this result, which required no arguing on my part to have the situation addressed. TGAAT's movers and office personnel did a great job and they certainly lived up to their good reputation. I would definitely recommend Two Guys and a Truck and would certainly use them again. read more

I had a terrific experience with the packing and moving for my 4 bedroom townhome. In both cases, the teams were efficient, hardworking, and careful--very professional. There was a terrible storm on moving day in the morning, plus rain throughout the morning, so I was concerned, but they kept working and stayed safe (and kept my stuff dry!). I was also happy that the final cost was within about $50 of the estimate ($50 less, actually). Overall I highly recommend them. One thing you need to know, though--if you have a grand piano, hire a piano mover. There was a miscommunication about whether or not they moved pianos, and in the end, I'm glad that I just went with a specialty mover for that item. read more

My Guys Moving was just wonderful during my local move (Arlington, VA) on October 14, 2016. It was a breeze setting up the appointment with Tony at My Guys only four days before the move. From start to finish, they really did make the move so much less stressful than I could have imagined. My Guys Moving was on time, prepared, and had the whole thing down pat--from setting up neat magnetic protective blankets on the apartment doors, to adding some additional protection to glass cabinets I had wrapped beforehand, to kindly suggesting that we punch a few holes in the massive amount of plastic wrap I had put around my leather couch so it could breathe while in storage (I would never have known to do that!). And wow--my wonderful movers must have played a lot of Tetris because they managed to stack all of my things securely in two TINY storage units. Unfortunately, I can't remember the names of the two incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and hard working men that expertly (and efficiently) moved my 1-bedroom apartment into a temporary storage unit (I gave them a great review on the forms at the end of the process, though, so at least they'll get recognition inside the company), else I'd totally give them a shout-out here. I've already mentioned to a number of friends, family, and strangers I met at the storage place how impressive My Guys Moving is, and I'm 100% committed to asking My Guys Moving for help again in the coming days when I moving my stuff out of storage and into my permanent new home. If I could leave 0 stars, I would. My Guys had the worst customer service and was the worst experience I've ever had - DO NOT USE. It took 2 men 6 hours to move my husband and me out of our 800 square foot apartment (and they were only instructed to move the furniture). They were over an hour late, and they broke multiple items (including our bedframe and a large cabinet), one of the movers spoke on his phone for the last two hours, and the other used the non-functioning bathroom in our storage space in our basement without my consent. It was hidden away, so he went to find it, and then asked me to retrieve a bucket for the toilet after her realized the toilet didn't work. We had to pay nearly $800 for this service. When my husband and I tried to file a claim, it took a month to get a response and we were told the worker denied any of this (even though I had photo evidence). We will NEVER be using My Guys Moving again and would encourage everyone else to do the same. read more

These movers were great. I decided to use them after two discerning girlfriends used them for their respective moves. Jonathan was responsive and gave moving tips that drastically helped with the move. Movers showed up on time (I consider 15 minutes late to still be on time) and worked throughout a difficult move (our elevators were shut down for an hour). Instead of sitting around and wasting time, Jonathan and crew moved items closer to the elevator. Some movers would've taken the opportunity to hang out, but these movers never acted unprofessionally. They even picked up additional couches from a different part of town. We had mostly heavy wood furniture but glass dining room table and glass end tables. Nothing was damaged in the move. Movers diligently moved items into new place and even pointed out scratches on floor and walls. They came with floor oil and wood markers to fix any furniture. The best part was Jonathan's advice on what to put on the bottom of our furniture to keep the floors pretty. We would've ruined our floors for months before realizing the problem. I would highly recommend this company for future moves. read more

Its been a couple years since I moved to Alexandria VA using 2 Guys. I was doing a search for my upcoming move and felt the need to warn others of my experience with this company. I moved the contents of a 2 bedroom apartment from Chesapeake VA to Alexandria VA in the fall of 2010. I'm disabled and I use a service dog. The movers were scheduled to arrive at 7am and complete the move by 4pm. They arrived at 9am and completed the move 21 hours later. A bookcase did not arrive and many items were broken. They actually placed a secretary upside down to conceal the damage made during the move. They stole my tape as well as an ice cold glass of water out of the fridge (my only solace for a migraine) They refused to place furniture or boxes where I requested, so the following morning I had to climb. I called the company to complain, and got yelled at by a clerk who said I signed the delivery papers, he then hung up. read more
