After the remodel and new ownership, this sub place has transformed into this amazing sub eatery. Granted it's not meant to be a place to lounge, there are a few bar stools to sit, watch tv & have a cold one. The atmosphere is lively and fresh. Even the bathrooms are super quirky and cool. I would always order the roast beef, hot and it always hit the spot. I'll also grab a bag of chips & drink and I was good for lunch. They have various chips that you can choose from or you can get macaroni salad which tastes fresh. I love when I see chips of a brand that I've never seen or tried before, it's always exciting to try new chips! During lunch, it gets pretty busy and crowded but they get the orders out fairly quick which is awesome. Ordered a cold club hero with no tomatoes and this was the saddest sandwich I have ever bought. Seems like only two slices of the thinnest cut of meat and cheese. The saddest two pieces of bacon. The bread taste like something you get at food 4 less. Sauce was just Mayo. Overall the sandwich was honesty 90% bread as you can tell by the picture. I felt like I could make a way better sandwich than this at home. For 9 bucks, I would rather go to subway and I would get way more meat and cheese. Highly disappointed. First time here and I have to say that customer service is awesome! Had the luxury of speaking with one of the co-owners and he gave some honest opinions about he subs. I went with the turkey avocado but I'll be back for the Italian. My boyfriend on the other hand is a loyal customer and walked out with 3 foot long ham and turkey club. They also have a great selection of beers on tap if you plan on dining in. They are located in a small strip mall with decent enough parking available. Rarely do I crave for a sandwich, but when I do I expect it to be good. So far this is one of the better sandwich places in the Moreno Valley/Riverside that I've had. I tried out the Fuego and it was really good. The chicken wasn't dry and the sauces were perfect. I was honestly expecting them to use a generic buffalo sauce for it, but that wasn't the case and it's sandwich unique to this place. I also got the Knuckle sandwich, which I didn't eat until lunch time the next day. The sandwich was still really good and I can only conclude that it would be even better freshly made. After eating at the San Bernardino location (different owners apparently) I was pleased to discover that the Riverside location was under my nose all along. How many times have I been in that shopping area and never really noticed My Hero? My first visit to the Riverside store made me curious about the hot subs since I really enjoyed the ham and cheese mini special subs. Unfortunately, it became immediately clear that I made a bad choice. Why? They microwave the bread and contents, which yielded a soggy yet strangely tough bun. The meatballs tasted like the frozen kind and the sauce too had a out of the can taste in addition to being really acidic. I decided that in the future I'd stick with the cold subs since the bread is so good. I will try their recommended turkey with bacon and avacado sub next time, but I verified that the $1.99 JR sammies are filling and affordable. One slice of meat each but it does the trick. In San Bernardino they use a smoked Black Forest ham but the Riverside store uses regular cooked ham. Small difference, but not a compromise. Good for lunch or office parties, the cold subs here can rival big name stores, but if you crave grilled or griddle hot subs, consider Jersey Mike's instead. read more

Which I thought would be $9 & change, but apparently it's $11 & change. Be prepared to pay an additional $.60 as a convenience fee to use your credit card. I got my sandwich pretty quick. As I began to eat it, I enjoyed how soft and fresh the bread was as well as all the ingredients. Multiple times the ingredients were falling off of my sandwich simply because they do not skim and it was loaded with flavor and everything else to put a smile on your face for lunch. I've been attending UCR for the past 4 years and I haven't had My Hero until I started working in the plaza. I've been missing out, clearly! Riverside has no shortage of good sandwich places, but My Hero fills a niche that I didn't realize that was missing. Less than $2 for a cold sandwich that isn't bad at all? What a steal! The hot sandwiches are less than $5 for a 6-inch, which is incredibly cheap considering how much Subway charges for their sandwiches that aren't even as good. Me & the BF decided to grab a sandwich one Sunday and decided to try this place out because it had 4 stars and good reviews. WOW, looking at all the review of people saying this place was great makes me think they have never had a good sandwich before because My Hero Subs is not a place for a good sandwich. I got a turkey sandwich with provolone cheese, tomatoes and I added peppercinis and onions with a side is potato salad. The BF got an Italian sub with a side of macaroni salad. We order out sandwich and the girl tells us that it will take like 20 mins (we were the only ones there) because they have ran out of bread and only had one 6 inch bread. Someone was running to the store to get more bread. We should of left. How does a sandwich shop run out of bread on a Sunday afternoon. We stayed and waited for them because we wanted to try the place out. So the girl comes back with Stater bros bread. Really! Ok I guess. My bf got a 12 inch sandwich and when we got his sandwich is was basically two hoagie sandwiches. So we start eating it and we're not impressed at all, the deli meat tasted like pre packed meat, yuck! But the worse part were the potato and Mac salad. We went to this place for the first time. We tried their special #3 and we were very pleased! We had a warm pastrami sandwich the capicola sandwich. Both were delicious! Meats were fresh, cheese was nicely melted and the bread was tasty as well. The side antipasto salad was also delicious - fresh lettuce and meats! The guy that helped us, which I believe is the owner, was super friendly. He was pleasant when we called in the order and was the same when we picked it up. This place is awesome. I've been coming here for about 12 years now. I think they may have switched hands, I'm not certain, but they have changed for the better. The food is still the same and fantastic (they use the best bread), but the interior recently got a big make over making it super modern. They also serve beer now they have the usuals and some crafts beers. They are still running the same great deals they always have. The only bummer and this is more personal is that they recently switched from coke to Pepsi, which I could overlook if cherry Pepsi was served but like I said that's personal and can it be faulted.
