I called PCHelpForce when my video card went out a couple weeks ago. (Found the company here on…read moreyelp.) I made the appointment for Saturday morning on their website (love when I can do that). Their technician Bill arrived a bit early (the booking tool said the window was one or two hours before or after appointment time). Bill was friendly and efficient. He gave me my options, we agreed on a plan, and off he went with my computer, promising to return the next day (Sunday). Return he did, on time and with a smile on his face. He got everything back up and running and I was good to go. Unfortunately, my hard drive started going out (multiple BSOD issues). Without hesitation I contacted Bill. He immediately setup time the next morning. Once again he arrived on time, ran some diagnostics and confirmed the hard drive was on its last leg. We agreed upon a plan (which included an external hard drive for backup) and off he went, again promising to return the next day. Which he did, on time, and with a smile. He had replaced the hard drive, transferred all my data (documents, photos, etc.), updated all my drivers, and reinstalled most of my software (all except my videogames). This was the first time I had ever called a professional to work on my computer (I usually ask my tech savvy friends, but it had started to feel like I was taking advantage of the friendships). He agreed to repair it under warranty, but after multiple weeks, and additional expense, they weren't able to fix it. When I lightly pushed back about the delays the owner threw a tantrum and told me to come get my machine but he was only giving me back half the money. I'll spare you all back-and-forth details but scroll through the reviews here and see how he responds to negative feedback. He's dismissive and lacks maturity. That's him. That's what you get. If you're cool with that type of behavior, have a computer issue that's easy to solve, and lots of time to get it solved, then AIT could be a good fit for you. If you want a professional that can confidently solve your issue in a reasonable amount of time, then you might consider other options. He spent so much time trying to find me a good deal (and we know that in business, time is money). I was so surprised at the price he was going to charge me that I insisted on maying 33% more (people that go above and beyond deserve to be fairly compensated). I know enough about the computer hardware business (having done it a bit in the 90s) that I can tell he has the highest ethical standards. For those that don't understand troubleshooting and technology, unethical folks could talk circles around clients to take advantage of them. Mark is 100% the opposite of this and is how we want everyone who does work for us to treat us - with integrity and at reasonable prices. Hopefully, in our work this is how we all treat our own clients and employers.
