A long overdue review. We have been using Al since we moved into our new home in 2019. He helped us take care of heater and pump issues immediately and ensured our pool was impeccable weekly. Later, when we renovated our pool as part of a greater landscaping project and converted it to salt water, Al gave me recommendations to ensure we had the best system. Contacted Al to help me with my pool filter which needed replacing and pool valves which were set incorrectly. At first impressions I was pleased that he was responsive and we were able to setup an appointment expeditiously. Took him quite a while to troubleshoot the valve system and he couldn't resolve the issue. After realizing he wasn't going to fix it I had suggested that he builds out a new valve system. Al left and I ordered a new filter online hoping that he would come back to install it and assist me in updating the valves. After the filter had arrived it took him a while to respond to my calls/texts. After inquiring whether he preferred I take my business elsewhere he insisted I should and proclaimed he was too busy to do the job. During a pandemic when people have lost their livelihood's he's turning away work. Surprised by this, I send him a message and his response to me was "Lol". I had taken care of my pool the first few years after we moved in after having tried and let go about 3 different people. I was usually able to keep it looking good, but after a while, it got old when we would go out of town, or I would get busy with other things. He had set prices up front, showed up on time and is just very professional overall, quite the opposite of most pool guys I have dealt with. I believe it's been about 6 months now. I hired MPG to drain our pool, sand down calcium spots & do the refill. Al offered a very competitive price, was very detailed in explaining the process/why the plaster was in it's current state, and did a great job. We immediately had him back out to troubleshoot & repair the pool light and wiring to the switch. This job ended up being a way bigger headache than anticipated but again Al went above and beyond to explain how things were going every step of the way, and even backtracked to change things if he found a better way later on in the job. If fair pricing, personable contractors, and attention to detail are things you value, look no further than MPG for your pool service/repair needs. I had hired him to replace my salt cell & pool filter, which he did a great job updating my equipment. I then hired him for a month to teach me how to take care of my own pool. It has been almost a year & I have not had any problems or required any assistance. Although, if I needed it Al was always available to answer any questions or come for a service call. Al actually is a full service pool guy. He does equipment repairs & replacements, electrical & plumbing work. Even previously did pool solar paneling. You are paying for more than just a pool guy. Al has been our pool guy for over a year and we have nothing but high praise for his services. He has been a patient teach, we have just changed from chlorine to salt water and Al has taken time to explain the what to expect and he has even label our pool equipment to make life simpler for us..
