I have given this store several chances to do better, to be better and they have failed each time. I only taken items that one of the two other stores where I consign didn't sell. So what,I thought, if this place has AWFUL customer service, lack of responsiveness, and the store itself is a mess - what do I have to lose if I only take them items that haven't sold elsewhere? Well, I got my answer. I'll start with my most recent experience which includes being hung up on by whoever was working today. A woman who is on a good day, condescending and rude. She was both. I went into the store last week to pick up my items that didn't sell. Items that were dropped off in June, on a slow weekday during which I had a lovely chat with Angel. She took most of my items. I called a few months later and was shocked to learn that the items had never been put out. If you have shopped or consigned at EDIT you may have had to sidestep the rows and piles of shopping bags littering the floor in an already crowded space. That should have been a red flag to me (in their defense, last week when I picked up two shopping bags full of clothes, there was minimal mess in the store, a first!) So the summer clothes I dropped off in June would likely have had a better chance of being purchased had they been put out in a timely manner. How/why bags of clothing that were all accepted by Angel, the owner, did not make their way onto the racks was never quite explained - when I called and spoke to someone else Angel was in the background and both women seemed eager to get me off the phone, acting as if I were the one who caused the delay. In any case, they already had my stuff so I could either leave it there or pick it up then and there. I chose to leave it there. Once January hit, I called the store several times, no answer. Left several messages, sent a few emails. Finally Angel responded to an email saying whoever I spoke to should have called me back. I don't remember the other woman's name, the same one who was rude and dismissive of me just now (again) but she finally called me and said they had a check for me and my items were ready to pick up. I went over last week, calling on my way as a heads up (to my surprise someone actually answered the phone - first try!) I picked up two bags and recognized the name and voice of the woman who I am referencing now, sorry cannot remember the name but I don't think all that many people work there. I brought two bags home with a compliment from her on my way out the door - "you have great stuff." She's right. Because she had a customer, I refrained from asking why working with them is such a challenge. I merely left quietly and brought home my unsold merchandise. Yesterday I went through the items returned to me. I had asked over the phone to see an itemized list of what I had given them vs what sold. Other stores I consign with provide this w/o asking or have a website/app where you have access to your inventory. I didn't expect to have the list based on previous experience with EDIT, and sure enough, no list was provided. So I went through both bags last night, and when I got to the bottom I found a beautiful pink hooded sweatshirt from Pangaia. I never wore it before I dropped several sizes and it became too large to wear. Tags still on it. The pale pink hoodie has large white blotches all over it - see photos. I can't imagine what on earth happened to it. None of the other items have noticeable stains on them (though perhaps I should look closer). I can no longer consign this brand new item elsewhere nor resell on my own. It is, tags and all, now ruined. Should this come as a surpise that in January I pick up an item from June from a place that had bags piled high on top of one another for months on end, maybe not. But it's upsetting. I emailed photos last night. I called the store several times today and big surprise - no one answered. I left a voicemail. And then, I called again and spoke to the woman mentioned above. She said she has access to neither the email nor the voicemail for the store. VM - that's odd, but none of my business. She barely let me speak and tried to rush me off the phone, as she has done in the past many times over the years. I said to her, I am begging you to let me speak. Please. It's so difficult to get one of you on the phone. And I explained about the stains. She asked what could have stained the item in the store - great question, I told her. I said that they had until COB tomorrow to get back to me and before I could finish my sentence (for YELP) she interrupted for maybe the fifth time, laughing at me, dismissive again. She told me there is no reason to threaten her. Very dramatic. I let her know that facts are not threats. In the past, checks have gotten "lost in the mail." Come on. Treat my clothes better. Treat customers better, with respect and courtesy. Do better. Or at least, the bare minimum. Seller beware! Buyer beware! read more

I'm shocked to read some of these negative reviews. Makes it seem like personal issues as I've been consigning here for 5+ years and Angel is the most fair and lovely person. She goes above and beyond and the people that work with her are also all so lovely that it feels like more of a community than a store. You can do beyond consignment here. You can be amongst kind and caring staff. She always tries to have the buyer and consignor's interest in mind and I just love seeing good people succeed. First bad experience was consigning, they came and took about 20 bags of clothing from my closet, I was paid once towards the beginning but was expecting about a 5k payout & only received about $800 a few months in, total crickets after that. Never received the inventory list I was promised, never had unsold items returned to me. This was not long before Covid and I thought maybe they needed the money to survive or something- I'm not rich by any means but I wanted to give grace because of that timing. About 1.5 years back I bought a purse, a YSL one- she was about to close and I rushed. When I got home I realized the strap wasn't even and the bad seemed off. I paid about 1900 for this bag. I called and they refused to let me exchange for something else, I threw it in the back of my closet in a bag and felt sick over it, didn't know what do do. Yesterday I took the bag out at there is paint peeling off the bag two parts of the bag stuck to itself - it's a complete mess. The bags weight is light- I would be shocked if it's real. They don't stand behind their product and they're not ethical. I cannot recommend trusting them to sell your clothing or even to purchase- sad. I'll never shop here again. Huge mistake on my part. Editing my review for a few reasons: 1. Angel the owner personally called me to address the concerns in my previous review. 2. After review of the list of my signed items for consignment, the receipt for "sold items" were accurate. 3. The store is definitely overwhelmed with inventory. As a business owner myself, I understand the difficulty in this with only so much time in a day and a smaller staff. Because of this, items were not put out right away (actually for several months other than my Chloe coat), so actually Angel did extend the consignment period in hopes of allowing time for sales for the rest of the items. I think there was confusion regarding my understanding of the process as they do not call when an item sells. 4. She offered a private shopping for myself and a group of friends in the future which was very sweet. I appreciated her willingness to hear my concerns and I felt like there was a mutual understanding of some of my frustrations of the consignment process and Angel seemed receptive to that. Not many business owners are communicative in this way so I actually really respect that of her! 5. I would consider consigning with EDIT again, but patience is key with the consigning process. Her rates are competitive and she has a popular following for buyers. One recommendation I have would be to really focus on the website as there is no products there that are updated regularly. I like to shop online and because EDIT is far from my home, I am positive this could help in bringing traffic and sales for consigners alike for many of the beautiful items they have. read more

Located in the heart of Rancho Santa Fe, it is impossible for me and my girlfriends to not stop for a visit each time we go to the farmers market. As read so many "not so good reviews" I too have had the runaround. Edit owes me money. It will be nearing the TWO year mark this october. I have been nothing but polite and understanding, waiting for Angel and or her staff to find the "bag of lost jewelry", vaued at over 3000.00. In addition to the jewelry that was either stolen or lost there is a check that was suppose to be mailed to me months ago for the remaining of my items that were sold. Edit consignment owes me a considerable amount of money and I expect some type of compensation for the lost jewelry and the remaining balance of the merchandise that has been sold. I have repeatly called and come in asking kindly for my check that is more overdue. Future consigners BEWARE. This has been my experience, that I have never had before. read more

Review is solely on the seller side. I submitted my luxury travel bag and was told I would be emailed the information to track my bag status (price they were going to sell and my cut). I waited 1.5 weeks, and no email. I had to call them and finally received the email from them. Left the bag there for about 2 months. No action, so I went back and took it back. Overall, experience was OK. It does seem like they have too much inventory and they are too busy to keep up with the inventory coming in. read more

I took two items here a real fur vest which they did sell and an evening gown with a train, which was not sold. The evening gown was for the mother of the bride wedding and probably a real specific type of dress for a glamorous event! In any case whenever I would call, they would answer my questions and they did have it out in their back room when I called the first time so she said she would put it out. They were downsizing and things are a little tight there space wise, but they tend to be accommodating and do a good job! I'm still waiting for my check though and I will change it to four stars when I get my check! read more

My intention was to look for a particular jacket. Instead my eyes gazed over several items that all seemed to be calling me. I'm certain the owner was there pricing various items. As a solo customer, I observed as she warmly greeted each potential client. No pressure sells. No hovering. You're able to relax. Filled out some paperwork where they said they could probably sell it within 3-4 months and that they would let me know. 8 months had passed and I decided to give them a call to get the status on it. The lady on the phone responded that it was sold months ago. OMG. When were they planning to contact me? Their store also looked disorganized and a total mess. I feel this is the only way to get the attention of Angel, owner of EDIT. She had come to the house LAST YEAR (June 2023) to pick up items I wanted to consign. She took 6 items -- with a promise to email me the contract. I trusted her to do that ...and NOTHING. I called at least 10 times over the course of the (nearly) year and spoke to Liz each time. Liz is always very nice and tries to help, with a promise that Angel will call back 'today', 'asap', etc. NOTHING. I also stopped in to the store TWICE to speak to her and to get my items back. The store was a mess and again Angel was never there to speak to. I am not sure what to do at this point -- and feel my items are probably gone now, or still buried in the store where they can't be located. Sharing this so others don't make the same mistake and consign with EDIT. There are plenty of other good stores to consign with in San Diego...go with them and not EDIT. read more

I dropped a few items off in hopes to sell them and get some decent money for the luxury items. The idea that "we won't call you, you need to call us" if you want to know if your items have sold is weird. I ended up selling a really nice jacket, and almost a year later, they still have not sent me my check. I requested a check to be mailed to my personal address and have had to call multiple times because they won't send it. Every time they say they will mail it and I should receive it within a few business days. Over three times I have called and they still have not sent it, and it has been about 10 months since I initially sold the item. Seriously so disappointed in the terrible service, this is completely outrageous. read more

I took in my items and no they didn't have time to give me a receipt. I spoke with the owner at length. She promised to get to right after the store got quiet. I'm local, live close and she knows I have a lot more high quality items to come. So I was hesitant but thought she would handle professionally to get my future business. She was going to call me. She never did. I stopped by and staff could not find or produce a receipt. I stopped multiple times i dropped off several items. She said three items she had no record of the items. One was brand new (never worn) Jimmy Choo pumps at $700.00. A wool Louis Vuitton scarf at $80.0 & sunglasses at $250.00 I got nothing for these items. They also didn't have the items. If someone takes something of yours without your permission or paying what would you call that? I did receive money for one brand new Louis Vuitton luggage. read more

Stay away!! I turned my 6 purses and a pair of Ray Ban sun glasses in to be consigned in June 2023 and come December 2023, only 2 items were put out in the store to be consigned. The place is a mess with tons of bags of items people have dropped off to consign all over the store. The register area is a disaster!! They never return calls. The owner is never there so issues never get resolved. I never got my check until months after I called for it to be mailed. I had to go in and they said they ran out of checks. Don' t take anything to this store, they are a disorganized mess! They wanted me to leave the items I brought to them without a proper receipt or a copy of the contract. When I objected to leaving my items without a contract or copy of a contract, the sales lady prints out a send contract and signs that too, giving me that one, but not a copy of the 1st one. "This is how we have done business," she explains. I reluctantly took the second contract, signed it and took it with me, leaving my items to be sold. I understand that the pricing takes time, but not to provide a receipt for merchandise is asking for trouble. After I left, I got a call asking me to come back and take my items because SHE did not feel comfortable selling my items. Note that this operation takes 60% of the sales, so you would think they would be thankful for merchandise. The store is a mess, with cheap overpriced items. I am glad I returned and took my items back. DON'T TRUST THIS STORE; DON'T TAKE YOUR ITEMS THERE TO SELL. read more
