Pretty good place for lunch! Solid sandwiches and burgers. The fries were well seasoned, and although a little pricey, it is in a spot downtown. My biggest issue is they have signs everywhere charging for condiments. As a sauce connoisseur, that dissuades me a bit. Went to the Hall of Records today and stopped by The Spot DT shortly after. Located in the Haberfelde Bldg where Dagny's Coffee used to be, The Spot offers a straight forward menu of quick bites for breakfast and lunch. Definitely a short walk from the courts, this is a good affordable option in downtown for those days when you have to serve your civic duty. They offer daily lunch specials from pizza to Taco Tuesday that come with a regular size foundation drink. The service is quick and you'll generally see the owner up front, cashiering or even whipping up your order at the back. The atmosphere is relaxed in this area, with plenty of tables to get a bite or even work while you eat. I had the chili verde tostada salad today and though it looks like a small portion at first glance, the tostada was filled with chunky, fork tender pork that was moist and delicious. It wasn't overpowered with beans and rice either so it was satisfyingly delicious lunch meal. read more

A little hard to find, it literally is a small spot , downtown. It is inside of a building and they share a space with a coffe spot, and a few other businesses. Easy to order. Food and service was great. We went during Christmas break and since there are two doors on either side of the building with alot of foot traffic, it was pretty chilly in there. Philly cheese steak was great 5 stars. Birria tacos had a nice flavor, salsa was on point but they were slightly over salted. Nothing a little lime couldn't fix. For the pastrami, I am not sure if that is how they are supposed to be. I have only ever had one other in my life at boots in the park and that one had a twist to it and was delicious. This one was dry and plain. If that is how salami traditionally is then count me out. read more

Nice little spot down town, I believe as long as you follow directions it's not hard to find. Now let's get to the review: My husband had the Cuban Sandwich since he has been craving in for quite awhile. I love the layers of flavors this sandwich has that come together to deliver the perfect experience in your mouth. If you like the Cuban sandwich you must try this spot, let me tell you there's a TWIST "pork belly", he uses it instead of pulled pork, it's genius! It's a good solid sandwich compliments to the Chef! Pizza Fries, my 9 year old wanted to try them but in all true reality we all had them. If you try them with your eyes closed your mind will be fooled into thinking it's eating pizza. The flavors are all there. We enjoyed them and enjoy how they just marry together to live up to the pizza name. I save mine for last: the Quesa--Birria Tacos. I love that they serve plenty of the birria juice to dip your tacos in and the drink the rest. It's perfectly seasoned and it does have a tiny kick of spicy so just be aware, but truth be told it's the way it should be served. I do find it could use a little more meat but that's just my preference I like my birria to be seeping out of my tacos lol. I would compare them to the street size tacos. The flavor is on point for the birria. These are a must try for those birria fans and yes drink your consumé at the end it's delicious. Dropped by The Spot for lunch the other day after hearing about it from a coworker. I went for the spicy chicken sandwich combo and for the price it's not a bad deal at all. The chicken was well cooked and there was some heat but the big knock for me was that it didn't really have any other flavor outside of the spice. The breading needed some seasoning, some salt or something to bring the flavor out but it was well cooked and the bun was nice and toasted. The fries were well cooked and didn't taste of old or dirty oil like you get at some places, I was happy with that. Overall it was a good experience, I'll likely visit again I'll just try something different next time. read more

So flavorful and fresh! I loved every bite! The Tex Mex salad is loaded with red bell pepper, radishes, lime, tomato, cucumber and sautéed onions. I added fish which came fried and delicious. What really made this salad come together was the avocado sauce. I love the avocado sauce! Mild and light, it really added so much flavor. The Esquite was also creamy and yummy. It came with a nice slice of lime and seasoning. The meal came out to be $20 (that's including the door dash fees and tip). Very reasonable and good portions. This kept me full all day. Tried this place a few months ago, when the pandemic hit and all restaurants were closed for dine-in. Saw on postings of lunch and breakfast deals on a Facebook page dedicated to local restaurants. At the time, this place was advertising any burrito for $5 and $10 any burger combo with fries and a drink. I ordered the wet burrito with shredded beef. It was absolutely delicious!! So flavorful, and for $5, a good deal! A few months later, I decided to try a different special, the Baked 7 Layer Chicken Poblano Casserole. It was tasty, but I think I'm sticking with the wet burrito again next time. It was just the flavor I was craving. All in all, this place is nice. It's located in the courtyard of an older business building downtown. It's almost hidden, and the only reason I found it was because of the COVID pandemic! We had the Cuban and the cheeseburger. Both were very very good and make up for the poor service. We did there reviewing menu along with a couple of women that walked after us. The cashier walked over to the front and with a some irritation asked is any was ready to order, we all said we were looking at menu. There was no friendliness in her voice or attitude. Today for lunch I came here for todays special which is 3 tacos, beans, rice and a drink . Let start with very delicious and made fresh. I enjoy the salsa that was in the tacos. The only was kind of odd was the plate it was on looks like a pizza pan but it worked for me just never had food like this on it before. This was definitely one of my 'Go-To Spots' during my lunch break, very convenient being that I work in downtown Bakersfield. But in the past months I have noticed that the food quality and service has gone downhill drastically. Prices continue to get higher but the quality of the food has downgraded, which is a no go for me. Not to mention the owner doesn't seem to know how to handle inpatient customers. I recall a time when a customer waited over 25 minutes for tacos, I recall the wait time because I waited just as long as he did. The customer gave a loud sigh and that is when the owner asked if he had a problem and if he did then he could leave. Also, the girl at the counter taking the orders..... she could use a smile. They do a very good job at promoting this establishment on social media. But they definitely have to do something about quality of service. read more

We came here for breakfast and had their breakfast burritos, I had the Padre breakfast burrito, packed with flavor, the steak could be a little more tender, but for $6 it's an awesome deal! Plus, the padre burrito reminds me of my mom's cooking. My wife had the soy chorizo breakfast burrito and it was also delicious, I, begrudgingly, tried it and loved it. We also bought an order of pancakes, they were so fluffy! They're located on the ground floor of a nice historic building on the corner of 17th and Chester. The Spot in Downtown Bakersfield is doing their thing, tucked inside have a hotel and easy to miss however once I was able to find it it was a happy time as their menu was something to take in. They have a variety of items from a pastrami burrito to vegan tacos, a teriyaki rice bowl with your choice of meat they even have a chili bowl with a cornbread waffle. They have sandwiches, sides and salads that you can choose from. So needless to say I was a little excited when I seen the menu. When it was all said and done My wife ordered the pastrami burrito I ordered the shrimp teriyaki bowl and a side of Mexican style corn in a cup. The owner operator Chris and his wife (I did not get her name )were very hospitable and even set up outside and talk to us for a minute. Unfortunately we couldn't talk long because soon after I got my food a pretty good crowd showed up and came in. Glad to see local Bakersfield restaurants getting the recognition they deserve. Everything we ordered was hot and fresh the food was outstanding in this time where some local businesses hand out anything and call it food. I love their food ever since I tried it when they had provided a variety of choices for a CSUB Alumni event, go Roadrunners! I've had burritos from their truck and was so happy when they did open a brick and mortar location, so it was time to write a review. They are located in the Haberfield building downtown. I decided to come in for Taco Tuesday to go and was not disappointed. On their instagram they have a meal pack of 25 tacos so we went for it. I called in order and it was ready seconds after I paid. An employee insured me the tacos had salsa, onion, and cilantro on them before I left. We were given 3 containers with the tacos, some limes, and radish. The potato tacos are my favorite. They have the lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, and creamy sauces. Yummy! I would return just for these alone. My husband liked the asada tacos the best and my second favorite were the carnitas tacos. I love their salsa and will ask for more next time because we do like it hot. Overall, I recommend this spot for tacos, burgers, burritos, and whatever deals they may feature that day. They also had some desserts near the register that looked interesting. If you are vegan and keto you can ask about options for that as well. Great place to call in your order and pick up, especially if you are in the downtown area. There are a few tables inside if you choose to dine in. read more

Dude! The spot is delicious! They are also the ghost kitchen for Mr Beast Burger and Tyga bites. I order them on doordash and i am never dissapointed! The only thing i could say is my bf is a Grubhub driver & they can be kinda rude/annoyed when they call confused, for directions Bc they are a ghost kitchen and it's not labeled very well. Easy spot to find in front of the haberfield building entrance. It's inside just as you walk in on the 17th st entrance next to the parking structure. Nice open area with good music. Menu is simple and easy to read and service was good. It's a really nice place to sit and relax and enjoy a coffee. Food was average. The tacos were a bit mushy. I enjoyed the fact they include everything with the tacos including radishes. Otherwise they're your basic street tacos. The bread on the new ruben was hard and very chewy which made the sandwich very hard to eat. The sandwich was very messy. Normally I love pastrami but this did not hit the spot. Normally when something is messy it's good. Not the case for the sandwich. The fries were overly overly overly salted to the point you couldn't really enjoy em unless u rubbed the salt of the fries. Waaaaaaay to salty. They're also thin fries. If they weren't so overly salted they would've been ok. The Aqua Fresca was ok. Not sure if I'd go out of my way from the southwest side of town to try this again. Got biscuits and gravy and a carne asada taco. The taco was perfect. The asada was moist and crisp on the outside because it just came off the flat top. The tortillas were heated but not greasy like a lot of taquerias. Salsa added perfect amount of zing. The biscuits and gravy was only $5 and I'd stick to your ribs yummy.
