From the moment we toured, we felt the difference--the commitment to nurturing the whole child was unmistakable. We enrolled him that week. Over the two years our son attended YMLA, he flourished. He learned to use his words, respect boundaries, build confidence in his social-emotional skills, and academically reached a kindergarten level while still in TK. At some schools, education can feel like a job. At Young Minds, it is clearly a calling. That dedication is evident across the entire staff and support team. The level of care, patience, and individualized approaches they pour into each child is nothing short of remarkable. As TK began winding down, we heard countless parents express the same sentiment: "What do we have to do to get the owners to open a Young Minds Elementary?" That says everything. As our son moves on to an independent grade school, our entire family will dearly miss Young Minds. We are incredibly grateful for these two formative years and for the foundation YMLA helped build in our son.

Since she is naturally shy and quiet, we wanted a program that would help her build confidence and prepare her for kindergarten. Young Minds exceeded our expectations. The teachers are caring, patient, and genuinely passionate about helping every child succeed. At first, our daughter needed time to adjust to a more structured classroom, but her teachers supported her every step of the way and helped her gain confidence. We loved how Young Minds balanced academics with fun. From art, music, sports, and holiday celebrations to hands-on learning activities like the Classroom Store, every day was engaging and meaningful. Our daughter loved earning coins and "shopping" for small prizes, and she couldn't wait to come home and tell us all about it. Over the course of the year, we saw an incredible transformation. She became more confident, independent, and outgoing, and she truly developed a love for learning. Most importantly, she loved going to school every day. Even now, she still tells us how much she misses her teachers and asks if we can go back to visit them. We are incredibly thankful for the wonderful teachers and the caring community at Young Minds. If you're looking for a TK program that will prepare your child for kindergarten while making them feel happy, supported, and excited to learn, we highly recommend Young Minds!

I was on a waiting list for a while but I got in after the pandemic and they have been a fundamental foundation for my children's education and I couldn't be more grateful. Extremely attentive, very careful about cleanliness and if your child had allergies they were extremely careful, plus it's a nut free campus. You can choose to add a language like Mandarin or Spanish. During the summer there are swimming opportunities along with many other extracurricular choices if you so want. It's a wonderful school and I highly recommend it. They even potty trained my children. 10 out of 10.

We picked NW mostly for logistics, because it was close to home and offered extended care, rather than a particular desire for Montessori education. Having also had a positive experience with a play-based preschool before this, it is definitely a different approach--there is not much emphasis on imaginative play, for example. The initial enrollment process also has a lot of steps that was a little hard to accommodate with work schedules. Other than that our family had a great experience here for the past 3 years. Specific things we appreciated: -contrary to some other reviews, most of the teachers had been there for years and were very experienced and dedicated -they put a lot of emphasis on practical skills and manners both of which carried over a little outside of school -the approach to literacy and math helped them both be well prepared for elementary school -the school administration is very well organized with a calendar for the whole academic year so you can plan ahead for special events. My favorite is the science fair where each classroom sets up a bunch of hands on activities for the other kids to try -there is a warm and welcoming school/parent community Most importantly our kids were always happy at the end of the day. We recommend New World highly!

His second year was interrupted by the pandemic and although he didn't get the in-person interaction we wanted him to have during that second year, there was just the right amount of online engagement (once a week) to continue his education. I know it's ultimately our jobs to teach our kids, but it's incredibly helpful to have an experienced educator guide you through the academic concepts, mental leaps and milestones, expected challenges, etc. Also, had it not been for Gisa, I would not have understood anything about LAUSD's E-choices application and enrollment process. She's great at bringing parents together to brainstorm and share ideas too. Needless to say I highly recommend the school and Gisa's program. My son had a great time when he was going in person with two half-days a week. He also had a great time with his weekly circle time classes once a week and in-home activities after the school was physically closed.

We highly recommend teacher Gisa's preschool Butterfly Garden!!

We toured a dozen pre-schools ( I know it probably sounds a bit overboard), and the The Tree House School was head and shoulders above the rest. We love their laid back approach, and their willingness to listen to parents concerns. They have a great curriculum where each week there is a new fun and interesting theme. Our son comes home super excited and tells us all about his day. The teachers are all easy to talk to and very kind. They have an age appropriate approach where they allow the kids to learn and explore activities and friendships through play. Also, our son loves playing outside, and The Tree House School has the biggest play yard of any school we toured in the area. They have a giant sand box, swings, a garden, a large tree house, a wooden home, tons of tractors, oversized dinosaurs and giant wooden blocks. When I visit it makes we wish I attended this school when I was a kid. I am super happy we found this amazing school!

Any concerns we had with our daughter at home were also noticed by Ms Jackie and her fellow teachers, and they helped us get our daughter through the concerns. I personally was not looking forward to potty training. Ms Jackie took that anxiety away and essentially did the potty training for us while showing so much patience and love with our little one (and us parents too) Our daughter graduated from LHT (yes, there is a graduation ceremony) and was completely ready for TK, knowing how to act in a classroom setting, and being further along in her education than most of her peers. There was also a strong community among the families attending here which helped us as well.

At just 2 yo, our child was "uncooperative" bc he wanted help putting on sneakers, putting on jacket, climbing on & off the big potty. Power struggles around these things at school corresponded with reports of acting out: yelling "go away" at teachers, not eating -- behavior we never saw at home. When we met about this, the director was not willing to look for causes or solutions within the context of the classroom. Her sole response was to instruct us to match the school's very high independence expectations at home, which we did. We had no difficulty teaching our son to consistently put on his own shoes, unassisted, at 2 yrs 3 mos old, when we did so with love and patience. Meanwhile, this apparently persisted as a big issue for the school. After our initial meeting, the only update we ever got was "no change" or "no improvement." In our final weeks here, conflict at school around the director's insistence that our young 2 yo use the adult-size potty instead of the training one corresponded with sudden potty anxiety & uncharacteristic signs of shame. Breakdowns in communication & trust caused us to abruptly leave just a week before our planned last day. Leaving on bad terms was hard on our child and sad for us. We went from being the school's biggest champions to feeling very concerned and mistrustful. There are so many lovely things about the school: thoughtful curriculum, field trips, homemade meals, etc. However, the extreme pressure placed on children to meet age-inappropriate independence standards really backfired for our son who is a super happy, easy, capable kid at home. We feel regretful about placing him in an environment where he was treated like a bad kid for being a normal toddler who wanted help from his caretakers. I'd strongly recommend asking parents who have recently left about their experience before enrolling, as there is a pattern of families leaving earlier than intended from this school.

Our daughter started off in the Sugar Maples group with Teacher Brenda & Teacher Edith, my personal favorite, who still stops & checks in with our daughter every single day. Security Guard Andre also greets every kid by name every day accompanied with high fives & hand daps. Our daughter is now in the "Field Maple" group, where each kid is at least 24 months old, and Teacher Sandy & Teacher Isabel continued providing great leadership & guidance for our daughter. The pedagogy at Maple Tree is outstanding! I was amazed the first time my daughter came home saying words in Spanish as well as in American Sign Language. Hearing my daughter counting at such a young age helped reenforce just how good the Maple Tree program really is. The biggest thing for us is seeing how excited our daughter is everyday to attend school everyday. If you are looking for a daycare for your child, I Highly suggest Maple Tree Academy. Maple Tree Academy is top notch in every way.
