My experience at this location was outstanding. A little background: my prescription was overdue, in addition to my glasses suddenly breaking on a Friday night. Needless to say, I was a bit frantic and needed to find a location that would take me right away. I was able to get an appointment for the upcoming Monday which I was absolutely not expecting. I was a bit skeptical due to the location being inside of the town center, however I had no issues parking inside of the garage located closest to Target, and then taking a short walk. The young lady that assisted me with my eye tests was amazing! I always get anxiety prior to the glaucoma examination, however she was super patient with me and made sure I was comfortable before proceeding. Now for Dr. Shields: VERY personable, knowledgeable, patient to say the least. He took his time, explained everything to me from the health of my eye, to making recommendation for Lasik, answering my questions. Overall the customer service is a 10/10 SUPERB read more

To avoid frustration, I normally end up getting my eyes checked by whichever optometrist is offering the best Groupon around the time that I am due for my annual exam. Never again! I seriously owe my vision to Dr. Shields. I have been wearing glasses since I was three years old, and getting my eyes examined every year. Never has an optometrist even hinted to me that I might be in danger of losing my sight. At Dr. Shield's strong recommendation, I visited a glaucoma specialist who did confirm Dr. Shield's feeling that I have glaucoma in my left eye (and have had it for quite some time). It's really hard for me to right this review bc I love Dr. Shields. He is the best eye doctor I've ever gone to and such a sweet person. I want his practice to succeed but unfortunately the staff at this location are driving me to write a bad review and move on to a new doctor. I've been a patient here for 4 or 5 years and without a doubt, a member of the staff always seems to have an attitude, offend me, or mess up. I will have a great experience with Dr. Shields and then leave his office to an opposite experience. There have been multiple times where, when shopping for new glasses, a staff member has given me an unasked for opinion on how they looked on me (mind you it's never to say how great they look). Sometimes it's not even the person working with me that feels the need to throw in their opinion. I've put up with the attitudes and opinions up until this point bc of Dr. Shields, but unfortunately this past time changed that for me. I didn't see Dr. Shields but the other dr was fine. He told me my vision was steady enough to consider lasik which I appreciated. And then he gave me a pack of daily's and told me that was all he had in his office in my prescription. I was like oh well, the contacts usually ship quick. The girl who handled my order said she would put a rush on them since I only had 4 days worth. I was in and out. A week later I still hadn't received my contacts which was annoyIng but finally I got them. I opened the box and they were all the same prescription which was weird bc I have astigmatism and they should be different. When I put them in I could tell they were wrong and when I called they confirmed that. I asked them to order new ones, fine. I tried using the wrong ones but they made me physically sick so I ended up wearing my glasses despite the uncomfort and the fact they don't fit with my lifestyle. Now it's been 3 weeks since my initial appt and the correct contact still haven't come and I called again. They said they had my correct contacts at the store and I can't get the right ones until I return the wrong ones THEY sent me!!! I'm absolutely appalled with this business practice and the inconvenience of it all. I paid almost a grand for these contacts and cannot believe my correct contacts are being held hostage. read more

I have visited this office several times for eye exams and for emergencies (scratched cornea). Dr. Shields is one of my favorite doctors, he is very personable, doesn't rush the visit and patiently answers any questions. The staff are kind and genuine. During my last visit, I wanted to bring in a pair of frames purchased elsewhere and get the lens from MyEyeDr. The assistant kindly walked through all of my purchase/insurance options and benefits. This office executes a great balance of respecting your time, but also making sure you receive all of the assistance you need. Dr. Shields is thorough and always follows up with any concerns or questions from previous visits. Again, I think I am most impressed with knowing it will never be an all-day waiting-room event to be seen, and I also will not feel rushed. I typically only visit for my exams and have other options I prefer to purchase my contacts and glasses from. From my understanding, they work with most insurances. I also enjoy scheduling my appointment online and receiving email reminders about upcoming events and that I'm due for an exam. When Andrea was working at this location, I was so impressed with the service and the care she gave me in 1.) picking out frames and 2.) in pricing. I am not impressed with the two more senior representatives in this branch. So I've been wearing glasses on and off for 13 years and.. *cough* ... haven't had an eye exam or eyeglass change in about 3 years. I'd just been putting off the routine eye exam for way too long, so when a living social coupon came out (55.00 for, get this, an eye exam AND 225.00 store credit for a complete pair of glasses)... I figured this was the time to do it. I really wasn't expecting it to go so well. I figured I'd just read a bunch of letters, get a new prescription, and walk out with a plainish pair of glasses. That would have been just fine with me. But my experience went very, unexpectedly well from start to finish. The staff was just so attentive. The facility was very stylish. The eye exam involved not only that standard test where you read a bunch of letters, but also included other tests that really made it a comprehensive eye exam (I remember a colorblindness test, a 3-d test, peripheral vision test, some test where they puff some air into your eye, a test where they dilate your eyes - so don't forget your sunglasses)... Dr. Shields was very professional as well as informative, really explaining things that none of my other optometrists have bothered to tell me before. For example, he showed me one of the pictures of my eyes blown up on his computer screen and tried to explain what everything was and how it all worked. No one's ever done that before. I also have dry eyes, and didn't know that by refraining from using eyedrops (natural tears), I could be damaging my eyes. Or, it's okay to not wear my glasses all the time, when all I need them for is distance. Just basic stuff my optometrists were supposed to tell me before. Patty, the optician that day, was very helpful as well. It turns out that the living social coupon grants 225.00 to a *complete* pair for glasses, so that means frames PLUS lenses. So that's a little tricky - just because a pair of glasses is listed as being, say, 224.00, that only tells you the cost of the frames. The 225.00 store credit applies to the lenses and frames combined, so you'd still have to worry about the hidden cost of the lenses. Nevertheless, Patty showed me the glasses where my LivingSocial coupon would cover the entire cost of the frames *and* lenses so I wouldn't have to pay anything, and she helped me find a pair that looked decent on me. However, she *also* showed me a pair that were so definitely my style even though buying them would mean going well over the 255.00 store credit. I bought them anyway, partially because the glasses were so right for me, partially because of the living social deal, and largely because I got such great service that day, that I just felt bad ripping them off by having only paid the price of the coupon! (Though I will definitely be coming back in the future, even if I'm coupon-free.) read more

Been coming here for a couple of years. Although it's not the most affordable place to get your prescription glasses, it still makes up for it in customer service and an overall pleasant experience. Unfortunately the lowest rating I can give is one star. The people there have absolutely no idea what they are doing. A pair of Ray Bans I bought was told could not be adjusted. That's just Bull. I went to LensCrafters and had adjusted. The other pair of glasses I bought, Seraphin, which was a $900 frame, needs to be adjusted and tightened weekly. I was told that is normal. Again total Bull. I've been wearing glasses for 50 years. I have a pretty darn good idea how a frame should fit and hold up. These people are clueless and overpriced junk. I purchased a pair of Ted Baker eye glasses from MyEyeDoctor less than 2 years ago. A temple fell off and I stopped in to ask them to reattach it. They don't do any repairs. I spent hundreds of dollars and am very dissatisfied that this shop does not stand behind their merchandise. Buyers beware. One of the best eye exams I have ever had. The doctor explained everything to me and took her time with me which most doctors do not do. The only thing that concerned me was when I was done with my exam and it was time to pick out glasses, the lady was very moody and not helpful at all. When it was time to get my glasses, I got a text and it was 7:55 so I called to see if I could run in and pick them up, a lady (I think her name was Pam) stayed 15 minutes later than she was supposed to help me out, which I really appreciated. read more

The staff is efficient, passionate and extremely personable. Dr. George shields was thorough with his explanations and I never felt rushed. Some doctors give the impression that they are in such a hurry to see the next patient in line that they will rush you out. Not him, he took the time to explain LASIK surgery, show me a picture of my cornea, and how it all works. I then went to Reba to check out some glasses. After I explained what I was looking for, she gave me a few that were exactly what I had in mind. She was courteous an had great taste. I needed an exam for a while as my sight was failing in the distance and fine print department. In talking to Missy, the mgr there..she recommended I come to see Dr. Shields and that there was a Groupon deal on glasses... Including the prescription.. Not just the frame. My funds were limited so this helped a great deal!!! Most places you get there & realize it was *only* the frame included for the deal. They don't take my insurance, Davis insurance under Carefirst but said I could submit it. Well, Davis didn't let me. In the long run I've never had the tests I had that I had there. The exam was extensive & the doctor went over the pics taken of my eyes which has never been done before! Dr. Shields was friendly *and* listened *and* took the time to show me the difference in my old, first pair of glasses ever, compared to the script he was advising. He IS my new eye doctor now! I picked out frames with Missy who is very nice, patient & informative in style as well as measuring for proper frame setting on your face. The next week my glasses were in. To my dismay, I lost them a few months later, I got another Groupon & got them again. I also dealt with Jessica who is great as well! The staff is friendly, the selection & hours are great. The doctor is top notch! So paying for my thorough exam was a-ok with me because I know I got the best testing & service! I've been to this office twice. The first time I had Dr. Shields and he is a fine eye doctor. The problem comes with their staff "helping" you pick frames. They direct you to the more expensive options and try to sell you more than you need. I got prescription sunglasses as well as my regular ones and they were ready fairly quickly. The rep who adjusted my glasses upon pickup was very nice and did a great job. My second visit is where they lost a customer. Dr. Cheung examined me and my prescription barely changed. In all honesty I shouldn't have even gone in for an appointment. Of course I was pushed into a new expensive pair of glasses. The rep assisting me once again pushed me towards the more expensive frames and when I tried on cheaper pairs, he told me they didn't look good on me. It's clear they work on commission. I had progressive lenses so the rep told me about a new kind of progressives. I passed and told him three times I wanted the same as what I already had. Fast forward to when I get my new glasses. The rep handed them to me to try on, she didn't fit them to my face, no adjustments at all. It was clear she had no clue how to fit glasses. I left and soon realized something wasn't right. I couldn't see clearly. Luckily I had my old glasses for a back up. I booked another appointment for that week. It took them four days to get me in. Dr. Cheung checked my eyes and compared the prescription. The rep keyed my prescription in wrong for my right and gave me the new progressive lenses that I specifically told him three times I didn't want. I also told the doctor I had difficulty seeing my computer at work. She kept telling me it will be fine. Once we get my prescription all straightened out I discover a price difference of $60 in the progressive lenses. They didn't even look at the price difference. If I hadn't looked at my paperwork I wouldn't have known they owed me $60 refund for their mistake. I was told they couldn't run the credit back to the credit card I used. Why?? Who knows! I had to wait 6 weeks for a check. I waited three months and no check. I called and got it within a week. My guess is it was never sent to the corporate office. My new glasses show up, they get fitted properly, but I still can't see my computer screen properly. I give up with this office. Do yourself a favor and skip it. read more

I have been to another myeyeDr office before and it was a great experience. I only came to this one because of the closeness to my job. Anyways to start off, I had an appointment and I got there 30 minutes early. I walked in and no one looked up or greeted me as I walked through to get to the receptionist. Only the receptionist greeted me. I sat down waiting for them to call me back and a man that was there didn't even look or say anything. He just kept doing paperwork. About 5 minutes later, I got called back and the receptionist told me to sit down. She told me about the test where they look at the whole eye for $27 and told me to look into the machine. I remembered that it is optional to do it but she did not tell me. We continued with the rest of the exams and went back to the couch to sit down. I felt uncomfortable being in that office. A few minutes later, an old couple walked in and as soon as they did the man looked up and greeted them. Now they were white so I don't know if that was the reason they were acknowledged or not. But anyways, then I got called back to see the doctor. She was super nice and friendly. She was very informative and made me feel comfortable. She answered any and every question I asked. After my exam with her, I sat down with the Karen, the lady who helps choose eyeglasses. She seemed nice. She brought a couple of choices for me to try on since I did not know where to start off. One thing I did not like is that she did not ask if their was a specific price range that I was comfortable with. I kinda felt pressured to buy one of their glasses. She asked if I wanted antiglare and all that jazz. I got what I thought I needed. I paid and she measured me. Once done, I felt a little bummed about my experience. A week later, I got a text to pick up my glasses. I went after work and again, when I walked in no one greeted me. The lady at the front just looked up and I felt weird walking to the receptionist. I picked up my glasses and tried them on. Karen did not hand me a receipt or any type of paperwork (I don't know if I needed any) but anyways I left. Once home I noticed I did not receive lens cleaner solution. I got one at my last visit from the other myeyedr office. I just am not happy with my whole experience. Wow! I looked at this place when I was out shopping for glasses, and what a disaster. The staff was rude. The selection included a handful of nicer brands mixed in with random discounted items-- $99 junk. The nicer items seemed like maybe they were discontinued or just old merchandise because they just had a smattering of things. They also SAID they took my insurance when I called on the phone, but once I got to the store, the story changed to "we will give you the papers you can file." After years of perfect vision, I was disappointed to find my vision fading and had to come to the realization that I, indeed, did need a pair of glasses. I purchased a Living Social deal and made an online appointment for the Annapolis location (being reviewed here). I know that some people have had different experiences with My Eye Dr., but I had nothing but a good experience! Dr. Shields, the head optometrist at this location, was extremely friendly and understanding, as were all of the technicians that helped me in the pre-exam and in picking out my glasses. I never felt rushed, but I was also in and out of there in 1 hour, including the exam. My eye exam was right on schedule with my appointment, and they had all of my information that I had filled out online. Lucky for me, the glasses that I picked out were actually available that day, and I was able to come back to get my new glasses only 2 hours after the appointment! Whether or not I like having to wear glasses now, I can't complain about anything during my experience with My Eye Dr. and the work that Dr. Shields does. read more

It's Saturday. I am visiting Annapolis, MD from San Diego, CA. My eye medication was lost in my luggage so I've been worried about the pressure in my eyes for a week now. I called three different optometrist offices and told them my predicament (and that the medication from San Diego will not arrive until Tuesday, and that all I needed was to have the pressure of my eyes checked). They all charge a fee that I couldn't afford. I wasn't happy and almost gave up. I decided to make one more phone call - this time to My Eye Dr in Annapolis. Shawn answered the phone and she was very professional. I could sense her concern about my predicament and she told me that if I can come in before their office close, the pressure in my eyes can be checked free of charge. This was such a relief. When I arrived, Shawn helped me immediately, checked my eye pressure, consulted with the optometrist on duty (Maliha Saeed, O.D.), and answered all my concerns. I had an eye exam with Dr. Shields, who was delightfully energetic and thorough. He listened to my concerns and explained things clearly. Ori helped me pick out two glasses, and it was by far the best experience I've ever had at an eyeglass shop.
