These folks are solid! Have had good luck over the years with the company. We all get older, and it's important to check your eyes. Moving up to a new prescription today. They say glasses will be ready in two weeks, usually it's a lot less than that. Good staff, and a wonderful eye doc on the premises today. She was thorough, and explained the findings well. They have upgraded their technology. Do I wish there was a way to, not look at the green light to get the near blinding experience? Sure but this is far better than dilating your pupils. I have been wearing glasses since I was 13 and contacts since I was 18. As someone who has visited and dealt with many vision providers on a yearly basis, I can tell you that I was satisfied with the visit. I have always worn 2 weeks contact lens brands such as Precison UV (discontinued), Acuvue Oasis and Avaira Vitality. Today I tried Bausch and Lomb Infuse daily disposable contacts and I am thrilled. My eyes don't feel dry. I was hesitant at first to try daily lenses, mainly because of the cost. Daily lenses may be sightly costlier but the trade offs are real. Like not having to purchase contact lens solution, cases, and dry eye drops. Just remember to take your contacts out before you go swimming and before you go to sleep. I went ahead and decided to get a pair of glasses even though I could have waited another year. I don't have a choice as I have to see when out and about, don't want to trip over a dog. Plus if I have to fight off a zombie, glasses are helpful. Also like having a few extra pairs of prescription eye glasses lying around the apt for various tasks. Lower prescription readers for around the apt, higher prescription for driving and reading road signs. Ancient eyeglasses not in use get put in their mini coffin and stuck in the medicine cabinet. I also recommend getting the retinal imaging every year. Eye problems can happen so quickly. So, research prices and what you need out of your glasses before you visit your dr to be aware of what your needs and price point are. Performed a web search and feel that the daily contacts pricing is pretty streamlined across the merchants. You just have to choose which one is the one right for you. When did quality control become a thing of the past? I guess millennials and genZ just don't get Q&A. Just spent over $1000.00 on new frames and lenses, and then a second pair of lenses for my back-up of glasses that I usually use around the house. Man, what a mistake, there's such a vast difference between the prescriptions, and the two pairs of lenses. It's not even funny. I use the new glasses and am good to go, use my "back-up" and I go crosseyed. Now I have to drive back over to the Burke location be a typical white jack wagon and overly explain that the two lenses are different prescriptions while I'm sure the millennial GenZ people won't give a baboons red ass about one thing I'm saying cause I'm sure they're vastly underpaid by the CEO that lives in Boca Raton that actually owns the my eye doctor franchises. I would put zero stars if it would let me. I should have read the reviews before coming here a year ago. Instead of seeing clearly with my new glasses, my eyesight with the glasses have gotten more blurry. The staff pressured me into buying on the spot, and did not even do the correct measurements for the lenses. My lenses ended up being off center. And after 1 week of waiting for my glasses to come, they told me it was not ready. It turns out, they forgot to order it. read more

My eye exam went very well everyone was professional and I was very pleased with my glasses which came a week later. My receipt shows I was charged $25 for an Eyewear protection plan, which was never discussed or approved by me it was just added on. I have gone to this location for about 21 years. I was a patient of Dr. Katz before he converted his practice to My Eye Dr. Dr Katz was kind, professional, and patient - an excellent doctor. He has since left the practice and relocated. I tolerated the customer service professionals for years - as they always upsell and add on additional services. There is this one gentleman, in particular, who always adds on the vision protection and other services. He makes sure to assist people purchasing items but I had yet to see him service patients who are picking up their items or coming in for a simple readjustment. At My last appointment I had to specifically ask for eye glass cleaner and my receipt. I was also picking up glasses and was not offered the option of a readjustment. I will no longer be using these services and neither will my family. read more

If you have Spectera (vision coverage) through your health insurance, I recommend Mr Eye Dr. for great deals on glasses and contacts. My eye sight is extremely poor (L: -9.75/R: -9.50). Blinder than a mole rat. Thus, I need costly special lenses and expensive toric contact lenses. It doesn't help that I'm picky about my frames and prefer designer over generic brands for quality and style. I really loved my Ralph Lauren plastic frames until SOMEONE (named Curtis) stepped on them a few weeks ago. (I'm not terribly mad at him, since he was trying to kiss me good-bye before leaving for work.) Without vision coverage, my examination, lenses, and frames would've cost over $600. My frames are $240 ALONE (Kate Spade Edie), but with the insurance discount, they were only $80. You can't even find a better deal online. For less than the retail price of my frames, I got the complete package (without contacts). Within 4 - 6 days, my glasses were available for pick-up. Curtis had never worn glasses, but I've been noticing him having difficulty reading signs at night and reading books. We went to another optometrist (in the Spectera network), but only examinations were covered. Mind you, frames are bloody expensive. So we went back to My Eye Dr. in Burke and shopped around for frames since he already had an examination from the previous optometrist. Similar to my glasses, Curtis's with insurance, were a third of the cost. He received his new glasses in about 5 days. My limited experience with Dr. Lily Nadjafi at My Eye Dr. in Burke was pleasant and professional. The staff here are very patient and helpful while you're choosing your frames. It's okay to spend time browsing and trying on different frames. It's an accessory that will be on your face for everyone to see, and you want the best looking frame that compliments your face and your style. My Eye Dr. offers many brands of frames. Their selection of designer brands are better varied than other stores. The store also offers complimentary frame adjusting. This proved useful when my new frames kept slipping down my nose (giving me that awful secretary look). I recommend My Eye Dr. for frame selection, customer service (weekends are quite busy so staff may be a little preoccupied), and savings for those eyes covered by Spectera (or another vision plan). Going here was my very first outing since March. I figured it would be smarter to go spend my flexible spending dollars now versus in a month. The manager Nadra was extremely helpful in updating the lenses on all my glasses and I even found a new pair, because why not! It was extremely comforting to see the employees constantly cleaning and sanitizing between patients, surfaces, glasses, chairs, and pens. The only thing that seemed concerning was that it seemed business as usual with patients going back to the doctor every few minutes, there didn't seem to be a slow down in that aspect. read more

I have been brining my family of five to My Eye Doctor in Burke for many years. Even though they tend to be much more expensive than Costco or other local optometrists, I liked Dr. Katz and the location is convenient to me. I recently had them make a new pair of eyeglasses for me and they said they could put lenses in my old frames to make up a backup pair. They took them to measure and I left. When I went to pick them up, they said they had the lenses but no frames. I explained that if they didn't have my old frames, then I couldn't use the lenses and asked for a credit back to my car if they didn't locate them. The lady I spoke with said that that their system can't process credits. I've never heard of that before. She insisted that the only option was for me to accept a store credit. She was rude, unaccommodating and flat out refused to do anything. Sad that being stubborn is worth losing a family of five who have been customers of My Eye Doctor for over a decade. read more

Very expensive. Went there because my insurance (medicaid) covered free eye exam and 150.00 towards glasses. With 90.00 upgrade for transitions (Costco charges 30.00) and anti-glare and who knows what else, they were going to reuse my frames to save money+my 150.00 off from my insurance, they quoted me just under 400.00 for the lenses as they explained how the lenses were the expensive part. DO NOT GO HERE. THE WORST OPTICIANS. EVER. Wish I had the reviews before going here. Pretty much everything they did they did badly. My glasses were supposed to be ready in two weeks. After a week and a half I called to check on the order. They said "Looks like your insurance hasn't approved it." Wut? They called the insurance company and "straightened it out." Uh huh. I've never had my insurance not approve eyeglasses. So...suspect. And let's pretend my insurance didn't approve it. How is it that these jokers didn't notice until the day I call?. So now another delay. I call again a week later to check on the order and they say they had to "send the glasses back because they were ground wrong." LOL. Mistake #2. Another week or so passes. Glasses are ready. I go in. But they have ground them wrong YET AGAIN. I can't read with them. So instead of just owning that mistake they ask me to have them check my prescription (the one they did a few weeks ago). So I have to come back again. They recheck my prescription. It's pretty much the same. They send the order off and somehow on the fourth attempt they give me my glasses. Incompetent. These guys suck. And they know it. Obviously. Look at all the bad reviews. They just don't care as long as they are making money.. So do everyone a favor and don't spend money there. Right below this they will respond and pretend they care. I cannot recommend MyEyeDr. They have lost my records twice. At my last appointment they prescribed a contact lens that was the wrong size and wrong correction. The lens actually made my vision worse! When I complained there were unable to tell me the prescription that was ordered nor what it should have been. But then I looked over and it said i was charged 25 for a warranty that I was NOT offered but was charged automatically. We went here to get 88 yo mom's glasses fixed. Long story short, they got messed up more during the attempted repair. We were very upset, until April took control of the situation. After first being told by staff that (since the frames were so old) that they had done their best, and we were on our own. Enter April, who took the interest and initiative to find frames that she could make mom's lenses fit into. Her compassion and professionalism were heart warming. What is up with the negative reviews? The people here have always been so sweet and friendly, not to mention very sociable. It's actually quite comfortable, they never make any huge screw ups, I don't feel like I have to lie or try to cheat the tests when I'm with the doctor (yeah, don't act like you haven't tried!), AND they have always been professional - even the girl at the front desk whom may have been the same age as me and still called me "Miss." The eye doctor was fantastic. He was very thorough and answered all of my questions. The office staff was quick to get me in and my appointment started on time. You can also fill out your medical history online which saves time. When it came time to purchase new glasses I was really truly disappointed. The sales staff was unprofessional. I was not asked if I wanted all of the upgrades to my frames and lenses that I was charged for. When I looked closely at my invoice (after my card had been swiped) I realized that I had been charged for special types of lenses not covered by my insurance which I would have declined. The actual eye doctor is great....this is not what my review is about. It's the rest of the staff. I used to come to this location all the time. My last visit was the pits. The staff kept on pushing the more expensive frames for everything. I wanted sillhouettes, because that's what I've been wearing for years and just used to them. They would bring out frames like the Silhouettes one, claim they were, and then do the name brand switcheroo on me. I caught them doing this. The frames they were pushing me were an extra $100-200 more than the Silhouettes if you can believe it. My hubby doesn't care about brands, he just wants a particular style, and if it's $80 for the frames, so be it. They kept on pushing the high end frames why he stayed put in the bargain rack. Came time to purchase our lenses and frames, we did not have insurance. Funny how we got a lot of 'discounts' which the insurance would have normally covered. They kept on telling me I had insurance in the past, why not now. Now the kicker - come fitting time. My husband's glasses, when done, had a ring of circles in the center. I mean a VISIBLE ring of circles from the machine. They claimed it wasn't there before. Sure, it just magically appeared when my husband tried them on. We sent them back for new lenses. In the meantime I tried on my glasses. I'm a tad picky with how my frames fit. After about 5 minutes of working with me, the gal helping me adjust told me to adjust them myself, and give her a hollar if I messed them up real bad. Another person from the staff came over and tried to help me, but got distracted as someone wanted to look at the D&G sunglasses up front and abandoned me for a high commission sale on sunglasses. I ended up going to a completely different My Eye Dr. branch in order to get my frames adjusted to my face, because I was less important than some 17 year old with mommy and daddy's credit card. As for my husbands glasses? We had to send them back a SECOND time for the same issue - concentric rings in the lenses, again. I have been going to this office since moving to Burke 5 years ago. My recent visit was the first since the change from Optometric Eye Care to My Eye Dr. I've found both the new and old staff, as well as Dr. Katz, to be very friendly and courteous. I was disappointed to see that the price for a contact lens fitting/exam went from $50 to $100 with the change in ownership. I'm not sure how this fee compares to what other offices charge but a 100% jump seemed drastic to me for the same exact service and is why the review went from a 5 star to a 3 star. read more

8am appointment on a Saturday - woof. They opened promptly at 8am and I got to filling out my new patient forms. Painless. 15 min later I had 3 machines checking out my eyes to prep me for my visit with the Doctor. Easy. My eye exam was thorough and pleasant. If you've been fitted for glasses/contacts, you know the details of an exam. The exam was pretty quick and the doctor is conversational, friendly, and clearly good at her field. The last portion was the purchasing of contacts, going through insurance coverage, yada yada. There was a fella in training so it was a little slower, but I was still in and out of their office within an hour from start to finish. I actually came here because my eye doctor is always booked and I wanted to get new contacts today. However, after this visit, this is my new eye doctor. Thumbs up. read more

Initially was disappointed that I waited a long time to be seen by the first technician. There wasn't any sign that you had to sign in at the desk. Once I signed in and was tested the tech apologized for the wait. The store was extremely busy. Then the Dr. Did her exam. The exam was quite quick and efficient. Next I spent time with the eye glass tech who assisted me with selecting the different frames I needed. She also advised me that my sunglasses frames were free for posting on yelp. So far a good experience other than the fact I had spent over two hours to get three pairs of glasses (regular, computer, and sun). We will see about once they are ready for pickup. read more

I've been a long time patient of Dr. Katz, about 20+ years and he's always been such a delight from the moment he walks around the corner to come over and greet me in the waiting area. It was nice to see him and catch up on his family as well as letting him know about mine. It's very rare these days to encounter such a personable doctor in any profession, so I consider him a true treasure. His entire team was extremely friendly and very helpful from the moment I made the call to schedule the appointment all the way through checking in upon arrival. After my exam, I worked with Ja'Dene and she was awesome! I wanted to look into getting a new pair of frames and she was quick to steer me in the right direction for my price point. We had fun while I tried on different frames! I picked out two different frames and sat down to make the final decision. She was patient and we carried on a good conversation while I was deciding which frame would be the ONE. It was such a pleasure to have such a great interaction with every single one of the team members there and I'm glad to see the level of service has not suffered one bit. In 31 years, I managed to slack off enough to just be getting my very first eye exam of my life the other day. I chose to go to this particular location for one reason and one reason only: it was close to my house and my insurance covered it. I KNOW THAT'S TWO REASONS. So the insurance part was the main reason then. Being my first time popping my eye cherries and all, I had no idea what to expect. So to be perfectly honest, they could totally suck and I wouldn't know any better without any basis of comparison; however, I didn't leave pissed off in the least bit which is more than I can say for how I feel leaving most places around NoVA. So I take that as a good sign. Everyone was really nice and all very knowlegable, which was good for me since my knowledge of eye function is restricted to the fact that they open and close. Turns out I needed to get glasses, which I'm cool with...but that meant I had to pick out frames, which I wasn't so cool with because I am the most indecisive person to have ever yelped. Thank god Jaisene...or Jaslene was there (I'm so sorry if I'm spelling it wrong!) but a woman there whose name is close to that was totally awesome and helped me out picking a pair that I think I'll be happy with (haven't picked them up yet). She was super nice and patient and took her time helping me pick ones that looked best on my silly little face. And i appreciated her honest feedback -- she didn't just tell me that every one looked great, but she took the time to help figure which shapes fit my face well and what colors would look best. Overall, a great experience. My only complaint is that I was a little surprised at how expensive it all was, even with my insurance, but then again, I have no basis of comparison so it might have been a good price. The exam was $15 then I got the extra $20 retinal picture thingie, then the frames were a little over $200 and the lenses were a little under $200. YIKES. I guess I didn't really think it through, but I wasn't really expecting to spend close to $400. Is that a decent price for everything? i think it's probably about right. I'll probably go back next time I need an exam....so long as my new insurance covers it again! read more
