Sarah Franklin, the optometrist, dilated me incorrectly twice and went on vacation for 2 weeks. The first time, I vocalized that I thought she was doing it wrong and the second time (a few months later), she admitted that she did. She suggested if we could do it like she did a year ago and I agreed. She put in the numbing drops first, but when I leaned back for her to do it again, she refused. I got so confused. She told me that she didn't want to put the drops in the same way she did literally seconds before. While arguing back and forth, it felt like someone was squeezing my eyes back into my eye socket. I went forward and kept repeating that my eyes felt weird, strange and hurt. I later realized that I had a bad reaction to the optic migraine and severe eye strain I had at the time because they messed up my prescription. She stood there, staring at me for 8-10 seconds, then slammed the dilation drops on her desk and said, "I'm just going to send you to a Retina specialist!" She ran out of the room to tell a Retina specialist (who she called her friend who she's known for years) that it was an emergency and I needed a full retinal exam. But she came back into the room to tell me that her friend is going to dilate me and rush me out the door, giving me less than 15 minutes to make a 25 minute trip. The receptionists of the Retina center I went to laughed when I told them that she sent me there for just a dilation and agreed that all I needed was a prescription. So, I went back to figure out what went wrong and when I walked up the building, the optician, Ed, tried to stop me from going into the building. Little did I know, Sarah spread lies about me that I refused her help amongst other lies. When I brought it up to Sarah in the lobby, she slammed her clipboard on the desk and acted like she wanted to fight me. I told her what Ed said and she said, "Oh he doesn't know anything." The lies. And the general manager, Ryan lied, telling me that he was there for both days and he didn't see anything that happened. He even dared me to call his superior about it. Sarah made multiple mistakes and unfortunately I had to pay for it when she turned everyone against me. The saddest thing? She knows that I have mental health issues yet she continued to attack me and MyEyeDr said that I am not owed an apology by anyone there. All of this started because I wanted a new prescription for my severe eye strain and optic migraine. Sarah said I couldn't get one from her, but as soon as I got my new glasses, my eyes felt better within hours. Sarah, you tried to hurt me, keep me in pain and even left on vacation for 2 weeks while I had to sit at home by myself doing nothing because my eyes hurt so much. The service at this location is wonderful I purchased a pair of glasses at the prince Frederick location and was having problems took them in and they had no idea how to fix them. I went to Dunkirk they looked at my glasses tried to fix they but were unable to they ordered me a brand new pair. They are always friendly when you walk in. I will be returning. read more

If I could give them 0 stars, I would! I had a horrible time there and would suggest you go to Dr. Weinstein or Dr. Susel instead. The doctor tried to convince me that I would need to only wear glasses for 2 YEARS in order to have Lasik. For reference, with a stable prescription, it is only 2 WEEKS. Then the staff attempted to bully me into buying contacts which I had never tried and refused to accept my rejection. They then attempted to withhold my medical information and prescription because I was not buying contacts and glasses that day. By the time I went home (about 15 minutes later), they had called me three times to tell me that my insurance would not cover glasses or contacts unless I went through them. More false information. I would recommend going anywhere but here! They are con-artists trying to make a commission. Shame on them. read more

My entire family had a wonderful experience with this location. The staff were incredibly friendly to our children. They received stickers and little books to help keep them occupied. We had 4 people in the family and everyone got an eye exam. The staff were patient with our children through their exams. The Doctor had some cool kids sunglasses to help check each eye. They were animal themed. My wife was excited because this location had some trial contacts that she could take home immediately. The front staff were helpful and gave us a large selection of glasses to pick from giving us all the options. We were given all the different options of coatings and protective options. From the staff, and their knowledge and product selection we had a great experience and would recommend this location. read more

This was my first experience at this location. The doctor was young and super nice. When I was passed on to the optician, he was extremely rude and condescending. I came in specially to get an updated prescription print out so I could order my glasses and contacts online. My prescription has not changed nor do I have any new issues with my eyes. Contacts fittings are not covered by my insurance so I didn't want to get fitted since I'll be ordering the exact same contacts I have been ordering for years. The optician Ed talked to me like a child telling me what I plan to do (which I have been doing for years) won't work, and "I'm wasting my time." He continued to talk down to me, and I stood my ground. He ruined my entire experience here. read more

I read all the negative reviews from the former Pearle Vision located in the same spot but since location was convenient to me I decided to visit anyway. Big mistake. They must have kept the same staff. Rude staff... Non attentive - pushy sales people - limited selection of frames...price was way high on lens/frames, sales guy got offended at me questioning $600 for the same frames i got a year ago at Visionworks for $125 - so I took my prescription and left. He told me good luck.... Sales guy kept calling me "Big Guy"... I'm not big and I am 51 years old. Go take some customer service classes. I will never return! read more

This place is completely incompetent. After receiving yet ANOTHER call from 1800contacts that the Rx they provided was for GLASSES (third attempt at ordering contacts-- which I was forced to do because MyEyeDr REFUSED to sell them to me without "proving I could use them" by putting them in and taking them out on my own 3 times)-- I feel compelled to write this review. The actual exam I had by an MD at MyEyeDr went fine, she seemed to know her job and was friendly. *one star* There was also a kind older gentleman that offered some consolation after a particularly frustrating "session" where I attempted to prove myself worthy of spending my own money on contacts. *second star* However, the salespeople they have working the front desk- the ones you have to interact with for any customer service or informational needs-- are, from both of those standpoints, worthless. I don't know if panic is setting in (I am getting married in 22 days-- I need to NOT wear my giant plastic glasses) or if I am ACTUALLY starting to get a conspiratorial whiff from these people. Are they purposely holding my correct prescription hostage? Are they evil and cunningly trying to force me to buy from them? Or are they really this inept? I may never know.... read more

Just moved to the area and found this location through Living Social. I found the Doc (Nguyen?) to be great; efficient. The "front staff" was very very helpful with my frame picking. It was actually really fun having them help me go through them all! Can't wait to pick up my new frames! read more

Just left and let me tell you.. they were amazing! Not only are they incredibly reasonably priced but the customer service is fantastic! The Eye doctor who works here was great (her name escapes me) and the kind lady who works the front desk, very nice as well! I have to say the workers Ryan and Dina are FANTASTIC! Made me feel like I was being taken care of and gave me great deals! I honestly never had such a great experience getting my eye exam until today! I will recommend them to anyone! Unfriendly, unhelpful staff at this location. I use My Eye Dr. down the road a bit in Prince Frederick and have always been more than pleased with the service there. Stopped in at this location hoping to get my older glasses re-adjusted as they have become a bit out of shape. First I was contradicted when I said they were "no they're not." "Well they are falling off my face." "Where did you get these?" "At your location in Prince Frederick" Deep breath and eye roll as she stomps off, bends them a bit and gives them back. Update 10/10/2014 My wife purchased contacts online and we submitted the claim to the insurance company. We didn't hear anything back from them. I just contacted VSP, they indicated that we ordered contact lenses from MyEyeDr. I indicated that we had not ordered contacts from them and that we said several times we didn't want contacts. MyEyeDr went ahead and ordered them and CHARGED OUR INSURANCE. VSP had put a call into MyEyeDr. They indicated then told VSP that we ordered contacts and had returned them!!!!!!!! This infuriated me so much because not only is this company poorly run it is UNETHICAL!!!!!! Luckily my insurance understood the situation and re-submitted our claim. I don't know what to say, it seems if you do business with this company it will come back to bite you in the ASS for the rest of your year!!!!!! READ DOWN THE LIST HAS ANYBODY PUT IN A RATING HIGHER THAN ONE STAR???? I'VE LIVED IN DUNKIRK FOR 3 YEARS NOW. DUNKIRK, MD IS PARTICULARLY SENSITIVE WHEN IT COMES TO RETAIL BUSINESS. I have never have had to write a review about how bad a place is. My Eye Dr. in Dunkirk, MD has been one of the worst experiences for me as far as healthcare. The first time I went, I ordered contacts. They sent the wrong prescription to my house, then told me I had to come back 2 weeks later to pick up the right ones. I later scheduled an appt for glasses. They wanted $279.00 (which was considered half price) for one pair of glasses, that weren't even name brand. I decided to try another doctor, but needed the prescription from them first. I called and the receptionist claimed she would "print it right out." I show up 30 minutes later and she asked if I could wait an hour for it. Which I couldnt because I had to work that evening. I dont understand how a place could be so inconsiderate, including the poor attitudes of some of the people that work there. My whole experience with them has been horrible. Took my 7 year old in for an eye exam. The staff was very friendly and inviting when we walked in and made sure to say hello to their tiny patient. We were called back within 10 minutes or so. Turns out that my daughter did not need glasses and she was SO disappointed. When we left, one of the optician's ran out to the car and knocked on the window. He brought out a pair of sunglasses and a piece of candy for her. It truly made her day! It was not at all necessary but was so appreciated. read more

The Location is great and the staff was friendly. I really loved the Dr at this location and definitely will come back to see her. I wish I was shown around the the selection of eye glasses. When I was leaving I saw another display rack that didn't catch my attention earlier and you guessed found a pair of frames I liked even more. I just read through the previously posted reviews in utter disbelief! I have to say that they did not at all resemble my experience with this company. I've been a customer at this office for many years, since it operated under the name of Pearle Vision. As a very selective shopper, I have been known to be a shoddy business' worst nightmare when it comes to bad press as I don't mince words. I therefore feel compelled to offer my two cents on MyEyeDr. In all honesty, I have never received anything less than the most accommodating, professional and personable service at this office. I usually seek out Dina on whom I rely for an honest opinion as to what looks best on me, guidance as to what options I should consider, or not, and to get me the best price through company promos and my insurance coverage. In my opinion, Dina is one of MyEyeDr.'s most valuable assets. My husband is also a regular customer and not a patient, tolerant shopper. I appreciate the fact that the personnel don't hide under the desk when he walks in the door! No, he's really not all that bad. He just hates shopping, but he has never had a complaint with the service or his glasses. Have there been any problems over the years? Yes. In fact my most recent purchase resulted in a do-over after a reexamination by my ophthalmologist who needed to reconsider the distance at which I read. No problem, no argument - they are in the process of remaking my lenses. As a consumer, we all expect 100% results, but it's a fact of life that it doesn't always happen for various reasons. I tend to judge companies more critically by how admirably they respond to problems than whether everything goes as anticipated. That is a true measure of dependable service and integrity. read more

I was seen by Dr. Goulston and despite showing up well in advance of my appointment, I waited for nearly an hour AFTER my appointment time to be seen. Others without appointments were ushered in ahead of me without explanation. As far as the quality of the care, I left feeling the exam was not as thorough as exams I've had elsewhere, the doctor did not adequately address my questions, and he generally appeared disinterested in my care. I decided to take my business to the MyEyeDr. in Prince Frederick who were very friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond and did exactly what the rude man in the Dunkirk location said they couldn't help me with. Went to get my yearly exam and they ended up charging me $140 for a contact lens exam I didn't even get. Then proceeded to argue with my mom about it when it was stated on my paper work that I didn't receive it. Also male sales associate with pony tail was extremely rude. Kept telling me that I wouldn't be eligible for LASIK because I was too young and my eyes aren't bad enough. Thinks he's an eye doctor as well. Changing to another eye doctor immediately. read more

When something so obviously is poorly handled, I think it should be mentioned: I took my MVA driver's license renewal form to them (we've spent tons of money for glasses and contacts at My Eye Doctor, Dunkirk) and was told they could not fill it out for three hours. Instead of driving there again, I asked that they mail it to me. This was January 2, 2014. It is now January 16, 2014 and I had to drive down there to pick up a copy they printed out from the MVA web site. In the fourteen days between, I called three times. First I was told I would get it January 6. Then I was told to wait another week. Finally, went to the store and picked up the copy of the sheet. The manager said he mailed it (never said when) and that the evelope had never come back to the store or was delivered to me. "You know, the post office has a habit of losing mail all the time," he said. These forms are pretty important because Maryland has begun renewing on line but there is a time element involved and my time may have expired. Advice: if you need an eye doctor, go to a real eye doctor not a glasses retailer. read more

Stay away from these guys. The optometrist (Goulston) gave me a prescription that was WAY off. Naturally, I didn't even know this until I bought glasses from a different retailer and they just plain hurt to use. I refused to buy glasses from these guys after the high-pressure sales schtick where the optometrist just hands you off to the sales staff. Yuck--I felt like I'd walked onto a used car dealer's lot with hundred dollar bills sticking out of my pocket. Topping it all off, they won't help me out with any reimbursement for the glasses I bought elsewhere. The only bright spots are: they did update the prescription to correct it (at a different location!) and offered to make new lenses for the glasses I bought. So, I suppose they made some minimal effort to solve problems they created, but I would rather just deal with people who know what they are doing and will take time to be thorough and not focus on high-pressure sales. STAY AWAY! They do not stand behind their shoddy merchandise. My experience with them began when I picked up a cute new pair of sunglasses. (I already had a prescription from my Dr.) The lenses were way off. They argued with me when I complained about the quality of my vision and tried to tell me just had to get used to them. They're progressives bifocals but I could only read if I pushed the bridge up to eyebrow height, but I tried as they insisted. Finally after not being able to see correctly for a week, I brought them back and was properly measured by a different staff - he was very helpful. Replacements ordered. In time they arrived, but had to be sent back before I ever saw them. I waited some more, then, when finally ready, went to pick them up only to find they were not sunglasses but clear! Sent back. When I finally got my glasses they were loose. Tightened. Within a week they were so loose they were falling off my face - tightened again. Loose, tightened. Loose again, but I was tired of taking them back so just stopped bending my head over while wearing them and developed the habit of holding them on when bending my head. Then this week, while taking them off, one arm literally just fell off. It slipped away from the frame. It wasn't missing a screw, the frame just separated from the arm. Probably a byproduct of all that tightening. Took them back and was told since I didn't buy a warranty this pair of glasses that cost hundreds of dollars and used all my insurance coverage will not be repaired unless I pay them more money. I've worn prescription glasses for 50 years and needed a warranty in all that time. I've never known an optometrist unwilling to stand behind their lemon of a a product. Thankfully I have a 5 year old pair of sunglasses from FourEyes that never fall off, are in perfect condition and while not a perfect prescription anymore, can be worn instead of paying these idiots more money to fix the lemon pair they refuse to fix. read more
