At this facility alone, I've seen three different Opthamologists. Every single one has been brilliantly versed in their eye care knowledge. We've had very thorough examinations and my countless questions have always been answered with kindness and a detailed explanation. The front office and glassware staff are equally as great at their roles! We've never had an issue getting an appointment -- even an emergency appointment. My husband and I agree, it's always one of the most enjoyable doctor visits!

I've asked if they're able to compare my current glasses to the new RX to see if I truly need to spend the hundreds of dollars for two new pairs. The person who answers emails - their Lead Patient Coordinator - only answers with "please see attached" and has yet to reply or give any info re: my actual questions, she just keeps sending the RX sheet. I'm not an ophthalmologist, clearly, and don't know how to read those prescriptions and so am kind of stuck. I had a great exam but am not able to move forward to get the glasses that I need - so a total waste of both time and money to go to this practice.

Since a review has not been posted for Envision (Boulder CO) since Dec 2024, thought now might be a…read moregood time - in light of my recent experience - to revisit the reviews to learn if anything has changed...especially when it came to the atmosphere...and how patients are treated upon arrival, during exam/adjustments, and through post-visit follow-up...and here's what I found... - Atmosphere/attitude - patient-waiting area, receptionist, etc. continues to be as previously described (uncaring, methodical, rote, patient-unfriendly); - Exam (initial measurements) - Assistant (Sirisai) was very friendly, helpful, exacting, willing to entertain/explore questions/concerns presented; - Exam (Dr. Israelson) - very professional, thorough, focused, appeared caring, etc. during exam; however, comprehensive report requested by the patient (me) and provided via email was incomplete...and did not contain pertinent information that could be referenced in the event of an out-of-state/country visit/emergency (based on comparison to reports from other optometrists); - Eyeglass adjustment area - helpful, courteous, etc. - Post-visit Patient classifications (new vs. existing; self-pay vs insurance) - unusual/disincentivizing approach; Responses to email/request were inaccurately read/comprehended and, therefore, inaccurately, incorrectly and/or inappropriately responded to - creating extra work to ensure request was appropriately acted upon as requested by patient; and . Requests for access/retrieval of records/images (Optomap) were not user-friendly (despite techno-skills)...actually the process was a bit convoluted. Based on past reviews (summarized below)...it appears that not much has changed - especially with those critical core values that directly impact the patient and their relationship with the practice.... June 4, 2024 - "...office has become increasingly difficult to deal with." Nov 23, 2022 - "Crabby, unhappy employees." Jun 18, 2011 - "...the staff preferred to talk amongst themselves, joking around, complaining and just ignoring...customer." "...what is up with the snottiness and unfriendly vibe?" Apr 15, 2018 - "There is clearly a customer service problem going on here...condescending and rude...At Envision, the customer is never, ever right." Despite the decent experience with EnVision's professional folks (likely a 4 star) - and a desire to ensure myself and others be treated in an overall respectful, appreciated way (afterall, patients are the primary reason for their existence) I would be...and am...reluctant to refer...and, therefore, subject others...to the office "atmosphere" described both now and in the past (clearly a -0 star).

I hadn't been to an optometrist in years because I didn't feel the need. That all changed one morning when I woke up with an intense case of pink eye. The Envision Clinic was able to get me in so quickly, and Dr. Israelson was incredible. She was kind, knowledgeable, and supportive, instantly putting me at ease. She prescribed treatment that worked immediately, and during our conversation, she took the time to discuss how eye health can often reveal other potential medical issues, including signs of a brain cancer recurrence--something that resonated with me deeply, as I'm a brain cancer survivor. A few weeks later, once my eye had healed, I returned for a comprehensive eye exam. I've never had such a thorough and thoughtful evaluation in my life! Dr. Israelson's attention to detail was unmatched. Although The Envision Clinic doesn't accept insurance, their pricing is very reasonable, and the quality of care is worth every penny. Dr. Israelson identified a slight astigmatism in my left eye and some mild degeneration in my LASIK correction. She explained everything clearly and practically, helping me understand why LASIK wouldn't be a good option for me again and recommending glasses specifically for driving and nighttime use to reduce glare. Her advice was incredibly practical and tailored to my unique needs, especially as someone with a complex medical history. The clinic itself is top-notch. It's clear they invest heavily in advanced equipment, staff training, and staying up-to-date with the latest research. They also have an impressive selection of frames--from trendy and fashionable to truly unique designs. Although I'm moving from Boulder to Denver soon, I'll happily make the drive back to see Dr. Israelson. She's one of the most compassionate and competent medical professionals I've ever encountered--and I've worked with many doctors over the years. If you're looking for exceptional care, practical insights, and a personalized experience, I can't recommend The Envision Clinic and Dr. Israelson enough.

On the other hand, there is a staff member there that can be very rude and passive aggressively judgmental with any option you choose that is not hers. At first, she comes off helpful, then she starts judging you and your choice of frames. To say the least, I felt belittled and not treated with respect. I normally don't go out of my way to submit bad reviews, but I wanted to share my experience to hopefully brace any future or existence customers that go to Carbon Valley Eye Care. It's unfortunate that that one experience is making me contemplate taking my business elsewhere. My suggestion as someone who has worked in customer service for 12 years, it might be a good idea to have some sort of frequent customer service training (there are plenty of online trainings that don't cost much and would really help staff make customers feel respected and welcomed) it's such a simple skill that unfortunately for some has to be learned.

I do highly recommend them both however I cannot say the same for the office staff or the lab that makes their lenses. The glasses I purchased were loaded with all the extras (anti-glare, anti-scratch, polycarbonate, photo sun, etc.) however within a year I noticed that the lenses seemed cloudy and no amount of cleaning made it better. I took them to the office and they replaced the lenses under a 2 year warranty. Thought everything was good. Unfortunately when I went back to replace them again for the same issue (called crazing) I was told that they couldn't honor the warranty on the replacement lenses as the warranty only covered the first pair! Worse yet, the woman I spoke with insisted that the only way that this would occur is if I left them in extreme heat which I had not. It didn't matter, she insisted that "everybody does this when they take them off and leave them on the dash" (something that I never do!). It didn't matter, she was convinced that the issue was mine and only due to my leaving them in a high temp environment - couldn't be anything else! Interestingly my record showed these lenses being replaced twice for this issue and somehow I don't have any recollection of that. I suspect that it really is a quality issue with the lab that this office uses as I purchased a different set of glasses from an eye doctor in Firestone (scheduling issue trying to get in with CV Eye Care) and haven't had any issues with crazing of the lenses for that pair. My wife recently took her glasses back to CV Eye Care for the same reason (first time) and they replaced the lenses without any issue (she spoke with someone else). The lack of customer service from this woman and the real possibility that they are using an inferior lab for their lenses makes it clear to me that I should take my business elsewhere.

Because of this question, which was unsolicited, my medical insurance was billed in addition to vision. When I questioned the charge, the billing manager told me that I must have forgotten the conversation because they always communicate things like that very clearly. The only thing communicated was that I should continue doing what I'm already doing. Before this conversation I even made a point of saying I didn't want one of their services - something to do with a picture of my eyes for health - because it wasn't covered under vision insurance. I really wanted to like this place and had been going for several years, until... they just weren't…read moreable to help me any further, and I did not want to be left with inadequately corrected vision that was affecting daily life, work, and driving. A couple years ago, they did not quite get the prescription right and it had to be adjusted a few times. Although still a little fuzzy, I decided I could live with it. Fast forward a year and a half, the lack of clarity was becoming more problematic. During my most recent visit, they did not want to make any changes, and actually wanted to send me home with a reduced prescription. I decided to just try to deal with it for a couple weeks, but my uncorrected vision was becoming problematic. When I brought up my concerns, the response was disappointing. They did not answer the question, their response did not make sense, and it was essentially dismissive. Heartbreak. Of course, they have a right to stand by their own professional opinion, and think they have the best intentions. After a month of dealing with inadequate vision after my appt with them, and realizing they did not want to provide any help or timely improvements, I ended up paying out of pocket to go see another eye doctor for a second opinion. In this way, I feel like they "stole" my annual eye exam that I get through vision insurance every year. After this experience, a friend who had gone there because I went there, related that they had some difficulties with this place as well. My friend requires glasses with a slight prescription for occupational reasons. While the doctor was very personable, and found need for slight correction, they were reluctant to do a glasses prescription. (One of the main reasons for going to the eye doctor, right?) After some insistence, my friend finally got set up with glasses, that they even paid good money for to get through this place's optical center. The bad experiences with this place are a shame because they seem personable enough, location is good, beautiful office - but, after giving them several chances, some of the things they do don't make any sense and, at the end of the day, what really matters is lacking.
